As soon as I turn on tethering and connect, I instantly get "Tethering: Mobile data link lost"?
This is the same for both wireless and USB.
Any suggestions welcome, as I've a train journey tomorrow where I was hoping to tether and work...

You my friend are a legend! I must've missed that thread. I simply added ",dun" to the APN type and it's up and running! :good:
Awesome, that'll make the train journey better!
hey guys.
i got the new update of jellybean and i have a wifi issue now. It's stuck on obtaining ip address and after one minute of searching it says that the signal is to low to connect even tho i'm in the same room.
I've tried fixing the issue by resetting my wifi with no luck, even factory resting my phone with no luck either. I haven't put a new rom or changed any features on the phone.
please help.
phone info
make: samsung galaxy s3 4g
network: telstra
model: gt-i9305t
android version: 4.1.2
Im having same issue currently trying to get my handset replaced by three!! Im guessing its a common problem

I`ve had this problem with my phone from day one. Samsung have allegedly repaired it three times and Orange once. On the third attempt by Samsung they said they can`t replicate the problem.
I`ve had this problem on 4.1.1. Upgrading to 4.1.2 didn`t help
Try changing the WiFi region code in the advanced WiFi section

Try to forget it, then try again.
Try these tips
Wifi settings
open your box/modem 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 on your PC web browser
unable "automatic frequency or channel" on your wifi setting or try to change channel
check also if your Mac adress filter is enable. disable it
Wifi congestion by channel
Wipe Cache
Forget you network
cut the wifi
reboot your phone in Recovery Mode
wipe cache partition
Reboot
lauch wifi and connect to your network
Use the search!
And read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36414076&postcount=31
I have a different issue with the wifi, it connects and reconnects several times in its own, did not have this problem before.
Try to flash a custom kernel like perseus <3

wifi problems after update to 4.1.2
Hi,
I found that saved profiles are randomly disabled and can be enabled using the following app "Wifi Profile manager". The app "Wifi Fixer" allows for monitering, reconnecting and logging the state of your Wifi connection. After seeing this I send an email to Samsung Netherlands. (that was today). Another work arround is to forget the network, reboot the device and try again. When searching the internet I also found this not to be device related. Many more devices have this problem after the recent update.
regards,
Robert

I find it intriguing on why would you post on the development section instead of the general as a question? There is a setting called Wi-Fi tethering in the settings, don't use any app.
i know its out of order but I've broken my right arm and hand.
dont have my laptop and did nit realise it was in the wrong thread.
cant even type.....

There is the Tethering & Mobile Hotspot under settigs and it works. If you cannot enable it, the reason is false insettings under APN. Check it and add supl and dun to APN type if you doesn't have them already.
when i change rom 3g data does not work ...... why?
Missing APN?

Go to: Settings - Mobile networks - More settings - Access Point Names
Now you need to create a new APN. For example, if you are using Movistar, follow this instructions:
http://www.taringa.net/comunidades/...Aporte-Configuracion-APN-Movistar-Mexico.html
You can see there the info that you need to put on the phone.
If you are with Telcel, google to find the APN, I don't have a link right now. I'm from Mexico, too. :good:
just switch to automatic instead of 3g and it should work
You must have bad APN. Figure what is the APN for your carrier and update it.
Hi guys,
I can't make my wifi hotspot work, keeps on telling me that I can only make one connection while roaming on GSM.
Is there a way to get thru it? I only have 3g at best and im not in the US, not even using sprint but a local network here.

I get the same message but then Wifi Hotspot works for me without any problems. Is it greyed out for you?
Also, go in to build.prop and change the ro.wifi.hotspotUI value to 1.

It's not greyed out, just showing me the message.
I did your advise on build.prop.. seems that its working but still shows me the error. Would tgat be a problem?
