Battery at 100% after every reboot - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am using a HTC One, rooted, running Android Revolution HD 12.1.
I have a huge problem regarding my battery. Whenever I reboot the phone, the battery display will go up to 100% and stay there until the battery dies (no matter how much battery was left before).
I have already tried refreshing the ROM, wiping everything, wiping the battery stats. No solution. The interesting aspect is that the recovery also shows 100% after a reboot.
Any ideas?

Is the battery life shorter than usual or do you seem to get normal battery life out of it? I ask because I had similar issues with my N4 and the cause was the battery itself was bad. However, my battery life was dismal and went downhill very fast. By the time I replaced the battery, I was only getting about an hour of life before the phone would die with no warning. If you still get normal battery life, you may have a different problem.

No, the battery itself seems to be fine. When I read the battery details with an app, I also see regular voltage levels.
No idea why this is happening...

Did you install any status bar mods that may have modified the status bar or battery icon?

You have to reset eh battery logic on the phone. In order to do this, hold ALL OF THE BUTTONS (power+vol up + vol down) for 2 minutes. The phone will reboot and the problem should be fixed

Hi, Thank you for the hint - this one sounds promising. However, I can't get it to work. I'm either doing it wrong or it isn't working for me.
When I hold all three buttons the phone will begin to cycle through reboots as long as I hold them (always showing the htc splash screen for a few seconds, then rebooting again). I have tried both, holding the buttons when the phone is up and running as well as powered off. Still no luck.
Any further hints?
Best regards,
Becksman

Thank you very much!
Have you performed the steps with the charger connected or without?
Did your phone constantly circle through reboots while you held the buttons for 2 minutes?
And finally: Did it solve the problem?
Thanks again for your effort!

Today I reset everything and put the phone back to stock. Unfortunately, the problem still persists. I therefore contacted HTC and filed a support request.
If anyone should have any further suggestions, I'd be happy to hear about them. Otherwise I assume I'll have to send the phone in.

Charging but led blinking

I have my Kaiser upgraded from Abusalza ROM v7 to v10.
It works like a charm and I'm loving it so far until now.
The battery is dead and when I plugged in either usb charger or power charger, the notification led lit up solid orange/amber like it supposed to and then it blinks.
I checked and later found my phone isn't charging at all. Is this related to bad battery or is it because of incompatible radio?
Oh, and when I tried to switch on the device it just hang. Perhaps it doesn't have enough juice to boot up.
Anyone got same problem with me? Please advice how to fix this.
Thanks.
If you have already cleaned the battery terminals, I would suppose it is new battery time.
Well, I was sort of having a problem similar to this running the same ROM series. For me though, the notification LED would blink, even if it wasn't plugged in and there were no notifications. I would also get it when plugged in at times. This was intermittent, since it would randomly happen for some unknown reason. To fix it, I just killed all running programs, and reset the phone once or twice and it went away.
For you, if the ROM worked fine before, but isn't working now, a bad radio would not cause your problem. An incompatible radio would have caused you boot up problems and such from the moment you flashed, not later on. Don't know exactly what to tell you, except try a new battery. Get back to us after, and if it doesn't work, we can figure something else out. Hope your problem gets resolved by the battery.

Keep in mind that my phone is currently out of juice i.e. dead.
So, supposedly by plugging in the charger I can restore the battery but in this case that didn't happen.
I guess I would better off go to the shop where I bought the battery and ask a replacement. The battery was new and not even 1 months old.
I will keep you posted. Thanks for the advice guys.
Does the LED light up still, even with the battery dead? If so, wait about 20 min for it to recharge, even though I am assuming you have already done this. If it is completely drained, it most likely won't power back until it has enough power to do so on it's own, even with the charger connected.

At first it blinking and then I pulled out the battery and reinsert it into the phone. Now it lit amber light and then in few minutes turned green. Tried to switch it on and the screen loading fine until at one time it show loading icon and then shutdown.
You assumed it right though, I've been letting the phone connected to the charger since last night and still no juice pumped into the battery I presume as I can't turn it on.
I agree with WillardZ

There's a technical term for items which fail very early on called infant mortality - this may be whats happened. See how it goes with a battery swapped in the shop. If you can get it to work by putting in a fully charged, known good battery but the recharging function doesn't work (or you get a flashing red light after a few minutes again), also try cleaning the spring terminals with IPA or contact cleaner applied using cotton buds. If that still doesn't work but you can boot the device into windows (with the shop borrowed battery), perform a hard reset before the battery goes flat/below 50 % and test again.
okay, I found my other battery which is I know work fine and put it in the device.
I charge it to full and now turning the device on.
While loading the touchflo, the loading icon just hang and I can't do anything.
Nothing works except sleep button.
Can you advice me how to reset this thing?
I know that battery isn't the problem here and I can't seems to do anything since it hung on me.
Oh, I tried turning the phone on without SIM and memory card and still hung.

I can but it'll encourage others to ask without searching first and given there's already a wiki here that covers Kaiser Resets perfectly well (and the Kaiser users manual that comes with the device - let me guess, you don't have that), you'll need to read the wiki and help yourself.

Not to sound rude but I did said that I 'found' my other battery which is previously misplaced whereas I said earlier I'm going to get a replacement for the dead battery.

There is an instruction of how to reset the kaiser but is there a way to reset it while it is OFF or HANG?
I honestly apologies if I sound like I asked question without searching first but I honestly did not found what I'm looking for. The pda is still hang no matter how many times I restart it and I'm out of idea.

duuuuudddeee....the page you linked to above describes a way to do a HARD RESET for your EXACT requirement...read it again.
also, if it is OFF to begin with, then powering it up (even if it hangs ultimately) is equivalent to a SOFT RESET. if it doesn't complete startup and always hangs, then a HARD RESET is the way to go.

and if by "reset it", you mean "flash a new ROM", you can search for that also and you'll find plenty of guides and tutorials and FAQs...but go one step at a time and do a hard reset first (remember, you will lose all data and non-default programs after the hard reset).

You've found the right section but just the hard reset section will be applicable. You don't need the bootscreen (which is what that button combination is all about), just a hard reset (making sure the battery has a decent charge of at least 50% before starting).
Thank you for all the help.
I've managed to reset my phone back to OEM and then flash 3.34 hardspl and radio and abusalza v10. Looks like it back functioning.
Will monitor it to see what could be wrong in these few days.

Unresponsive (bricked??) HTC Touch Pro 2. Help please.

Ok, so I have encountered something NONE of us EVER want to encounter. My phone has died. It will NOT boot up on battery power and is now cycling in the tri-color screen over and over again. It does this when plugged into USB port and wall outlet. I have the HTC Euro stock ROM on the SD card in the phone, trying to get it to reflash. It gets to the screen : "loading" and "checking" ....but then boots down again and cycles all over again.
I flashed the NRG 10/11 Photon ROM. I have the first HRDSPL from Olinex. My phone is the Euro version, unlocked, unbranded. I use TMobile in the US. .
Please, there has GOT to be someone out there that can help me. You guys are really sharp!! Please ....I need my phone!
I cannot even do a hard reset either. I push the power, send and end button all at the same time. I get no response.
What are my options here? Thanks in advance.

1: So if when you pull out your battery it goes off. And on reinsert, when you try to turn on or hardreset ie: hold the TALK/SEND, END and POWER buttons until you see this message on the screen.
"This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel."
At that point you release the buttons and press Volume up to perform.
It doesnt do anything?
2: As soon you do the AC adapter in or USB power, it starts cycling on his own? If not, try to hardreset then.
3: If you wait like 30 minutes, with cycling on USB on PC, can it hardreset out hisself? Ive readed another guy who had issues and somehow it fixed itself.

I waited all night long for it to do that. No luck.
Now I get to the point where I see where it recognizes my .nbh file and has a splash screen. BUT......it will not go any further past that now. I press the power button to continue, but it just cycles again and the whole process starts over. I see a reallllllllllllly quick sliver of the update bar, but it disappears fast b/c of the recycling process.
Please dont give up on me. Thanks.

I do not have the SIM card in there. I never have flashed with a SIM card in there. Always read to take that out when you do that.
The SD has to be in there b/c it is the only thing that has a shot of getting the ROM to the phone. Active Sync wont connect b/c phone keeps powering on/off with its cycling issue. So the SD card must be present with the .nbh file on it. I am just in hopes that it will read it somehow. I am sooooo tired of pressing the power button for it to continue, only to have it turn right back off.
ps, reset button does nothing either.
ugh.

Actually, that is why I posted here.
I've noticed during the flashing process it doesn't take power from USB. What is the status of the battery? It occured to me that it might be power cycling because it's going to a part of the process that only takes power from battery and there isn't enough to do what it wants to do. (+50% ?)
Just a thought ... good luck dude I hope you get it sorted.

Yes, I thought of that as well. But I had it plugged in all night...but I have no idea if it charged b/c I cant see the screen that gives the battery's status. ?? So, I dont know how to get around this part of it. I KNOW for a fact that my battery was low when the phone died. I dont know how to get it charged back up to do this type of diagnostic test.....??
Maybe it's not getting a proper charge if all it's doing is looping ... I figured you wouldn't be able to get battery status after I posted haha ... But it is interesting you said the battery was low when this all happened.
Do you know anyone near you that can lend you a fully charged battery? Does it boot up immediately if you take SD card out, put battery back in and plug in USB power? If you can't get it to where the phone is off and charging with orange light then a spare battery could be worth a try.
Don't worry dude I'm sure cmonex or olipro will have far more useful advice but no harm trying in the meantime

[Q] HELP - SGS Dead!

As the title says, battery was charged last night, then using it briefly this morning all of a sudden, won't respond to the middle button press. Won't turn on at all.
Removed battery + Sim + SD card for 15 minutes, put in battery only but still won't power on.
Doesn't respond to the download mode button combination either(vol down + home + power).
Would really appreciate some advice from anyone that's had this problem?

I've just got off the phone to the 02 store who have said the phone is on it's way back from the repair centre.
I asked her to read to me what they have done as a resolution and she said that they had "re-flashed the software"...!
Now, would this be true? Would this be enough to get a phone that wouldn't power on at all back from the grave?
Would be interested to know what people thought of this?
Cheers
it is totally that easy
it was never a hardware failure but software
it's part of knowing your phone, and maintaining the list of what apps should run and should not run to prevent the phone from locking up into the standby mode
get and install auto run killer
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8123924&postcount=40
then you can tick off all the unnecessary stuff from running on its own
Cheers, I'll give it a go!
this same thing happened to me, phone suddenly not responding. Best thing for you is to learn how to "reformat" it so next time it'll happen, you will not have to wait for the repair to be done.
but that only works if the phone responds to the 3 button combo to go into the Download Mode

Cannot enter bootloader mode on HTC 8X GDR2

Hi everyone,
This is my first post so I hope you are kind enough to help me with this issue.
I have an HTC 8X Blue (bought it factory unlocked) and recently I have updated it to GDR2. It happened what many other HTC 8X's user had. It bricked when I was playing some music.
I found an article that has a solution allegedly (I cannot post the link but it is the most popular solution aparently). But my problem is that I cannot enter Bootloader Mode as one of the first steps requires. My phone is simply dead, I tried every combination of buttons (hard reset and soft reset), but non is responsive. Of course, my PC does not recognize it and when I plug it in to the wall the red light does not turn on!
I do not have experience in modding or flashing or what-ever process needed (for Windows Phone), but I do know pretty much for iOS so I can learn quickly.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Your best option would be to get it repaired/replaced by a service center. If you're near a Microsoft store, they can take care of that for you. If not, it'll be trickier.
Otherwise, the only advice I can offer is to leave it for a while, let the battery drain entirely if you can, plug it in again, and try to start it... even if it won't boot normally, you may be able to access the bootloader mode now.
Thanks for the quick reply! I actually do not have a Microsoft Store as I live in Argentina...
I think i will try to drain the battery and restart it. Should I restart it the normal way? I mean by holding power button?
Yep, basically that.
You could also try calling HTC support and seeing if they have any other recommendations. The battery drain thing is basically just in case the phone got stuck in a weird state; resetting it that way may help.
is your phone stuck in QHSUSB_DLMODE i got my stuck there the other day. what i did was hold VOL UP, WOL DOWN and POWER all at the same time until the phone vibrated. wouldnt you know i unbricked my device.

Samsung Galaxy A71 died after updating to Android 11

Ok, so here is to explain what happened, so you can have a clue what am I talking about.
I bought Galaxy A71 a month ago (give or take), so out of the box it had Android 10. The phone was working flawlessly. Battery life awesome, pictures from camera great, etc. So, few days ago on March 26, 2021, an update to Android 11 came in. I am a tech nerd, I know about phones, rooting, flashing, etc.
So, I saw that I have around 78-80% of the battery so it was enough to download and install Android 11.
Downloading and installing and optimizing apps after went smooth as silk. I usually soft restarting my device after any software update, so I did that after the installation of Android 11 was entirely finished.
But, this is what happen when I restart my phone the normal way. I press and hold the power button, the dialog of Power off, Reset and Airplane mode came out, tapped twice the reset button and phone went restarting and just.... died. I remember that when I soft restarted my phone, the battery was on 72%. So I tried any trick in the books to turn on my phone again like combinations of pressing buttons, then with USB cable, charger, etc, but nothing was responsive. It's like the phone was clinically dead.
My phone is still under warranty and I will probably end up taking it to the T-mobile store, but the point of this thread is to inform others of the situation like mine and see if someone else had the same problem?
Maybe someone will post a solution what to do in situations like this?
If I find any solution, I will update this post with all the details.

Yes i did, nothing shows in Device Manager. As I said, I tried every possible trick to wake the phone up, but it was unsuccessful.
I end up taking it to the carrier store cuz it is still under warranty. They told me if they can't fix it, they'll probably give me a new one or to wait for Galaxy A72 To arrive in 2 weeks. We'll see what happens.

Least you still have A warranty to help you.
Good luck with it.Hope you don't lose your data if it's still on the phone.

They fix it, it said it was software problem, got stuck on rebooting. I get it today (2 weeks later) and it worked. They managed to turn it on but without a factory reset, every app was there, every picture, video, contacts, call history, etc. I don't know how they did it, but they did. So when I got my phone back I tried to restart it normal way, long press of the power button, then tap Restart and again restart. The phone restart it without a problem. I was happy. Then later that day (2 hours ago when I'm writing this, I notice that always on display when i touch the phone screen will show up but doesn't switch off after 10 seconds (I set it up like that), instead it started to blink in intervals like i was touching the screen continuously. Then I did a deep soft reset. You know, when you press Volume down and Power button at the same time and.... got the same problem again. Phone is non functional, none combination of pressing buttons worked, just like i describe it in the OP. Just for information, I did the same on my previous phone Galaxy A7 2018 and never had this problem. I did it on this phone too, never had a problem. Then I remember it that on both phones when i do that and not having problems were running on Android 10. this phone now update it to Android 11 and that buttons combination is probably bricking the phone. It's just a thing I notice. So I am planning to call the official service that fixed the phone how did they do it, so maybe I can do it myself too. I don't want to wait for another 2 and a half weeks.
I am facing the same issue. And I think my warranty is out. Did you get to ask them how can you turn it on yourself!!
I would really appreciate some help here!
