[Solved]Wi-Fi not working correctly - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I've had some interesting wi-fi issues the past month. I updated to XperimenT 3.1.1 and flashed kernel 145 and it worked absolutely fine for a week. One afternoon I changed themes about five times in a row (with reboots) and wi-fi started acting funny. (I've already ruled out the router, other devices are connecting fine). It connects, shows transfering, but no data is actually transferring.
So my first thought, was to restore my backup from April. Restored the backup, and wifi still didn't work. I flashed forward, to V3.0 and flashed kernel 141. this worked for about a week, when wifi stopped working again, which actually was my router that morning, but given the circumstances unfortunately, I thought it was my phone.
I flashed back to V3.1.1 and Kernel 145 and it boot looped. Had to flash back to 303 (ICS) and root/CWM again before reflashing V3.0.
I've been on V3.0 since 8/6 - I left it in that state for the entire week and was using the wi-fi today when the wierdness started again. today the wi-fi worked fine all morning, then all of the sudden, it just stopped transferring data. The first ting I tried was just to reflash 141 (for 3.0). Nothing happened.A
So I downloaded the stock rooted /odexed rom and kernel 145. Flashed the rom and CWM fix in CWM, flash moded the kernel with the flashtool in windows. Boot up android, wi-fi connects but doesn't transfer any data.
Any other ideas on what I can do?
EDIT:
Added some additional things I've tried.
Also downloaded the stock 9.1.A.1.141 - and flashed just the kernel (excluded everything else). Rebooted the phone, and the wi-fi is acting exactly the same. Connecting but not transferring data.
SOLUTION:
So the problem was the dns settings on the phone. I downloaded set dns via 3G and tried to set the dns to custom, and it didn't work. I uninstalled the application from it's, menu and it reset all the network settings back to their factory settings!
All fixed with Wi-Fi working.
Update: 9/7/2013
The problem has returned.
Running hybrid version 12 - kernel 145. Latest details at bottom of thread.
Fix:
I have two wireless routers, with one setup as a repeater. The one that was supposed to be a repeater, was in fact grabbing my Mac address, even though I was connected to a different router, and forwarding it to an invisible subnet.
I fixed it by disabling dhcp assignment in the router, and forwarding the dhcp to my primary subnet.

oh dude u've flashed too much, i reccommend stock JB .145 deodexed
u can try to disconnect and reconnect to wifi, if it doesnt help, try airplane mode on and off
btw, my wifi signal is kinda weak as compared to others phone, also ipod touch gen 5
u shouldnt have flash from JB to ICS, 'cause there are different drivers, etc...

I'll try airplane mode, currently I'm on the stock rooted odexed Rom with 141 kernel.
The system rebooted about four times, and Wi-Fi is still not working correctly.

Airplane mode didn't work. I did find out something interesting. It wouldn't connect to Google.com, but I could connect to my router at 192.168.1.1.
Its like the dns settings for my Wi-Fi got scrambled.

The problem returned today. Went for a drive, came home and the WiFi isn't working.
Here's what I've tried and observed.
1) the IP address isnt consistent. In the service menu when connected it shows the correct WiFi address, in ROM manager, it shows that its a loopback address (127.0.0.1). (Which would explain why its not working)
2) using setdns and trying to restore the factory defaults through uninstall, is not working this time. I also tried a dirty flash of the ROM (hybrid v12.0) and that didn't get the WiFi working.
I'll probably try a wipe/flash later, perhaps even wipe system., and restore a backup.

Try to set dns to primary :8.8.8.8
And secondary to 8.8.4.4 my
Xperia L has the same problem I did this and now it's working better... Not as good as my Xperia play (I don't know why yet) but is usable...

It was completely retarded.
My bedroom router, that I'm using as a switch/access point repeater was causing the problem. It was setting my IP (even though my wireless connection was going through the front room WiFi the back room router was grabbing it's Mac) to a different subnet and not letting it get to the internet. This has probably been my problem all along.
Updating op with instructions on how to deal with this.

[Q] Wifi Connected but not working!

WiFi is working on 2 other sgs2s but not on my NOTE! It was yesterday but not anymore! i tried everything, flashed another ROM (was using criskelo v4.1, flashed CheckROMv5) in vain! The weird part is that if i go to facebook in browser it works but nothing else works. No app, market, kitchen app, nothing! All works on 3g! It's extremely frustrating and i can't seem to find any answer anywhere!
If i start browsing with 3g then enable wifi, it works. I don't know what to do and i can't keep using 3G, it's extremely expensive in my country!
It started when i flashed UltimateKernelCleaningTool from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363738&page=13 before flashing AbyssNoteKernel35bOriginalLogo.zip.
Any clues?
Try assigning Static IP in WiFi Settings.
If everything Ok on device side, you may try to reset your Router. perticularly if mac protection enable, this issue occurs.
no mac protection is enabled on router, and if it's a router problem shouldn't other devices be affected by it? Laptop connected with internet, bro's sgs2 connected with internet, sis's sgs2 also!
could be kernel related, tried a different kernel?

yes, i tried abyss3.5b and cf kernel la4!
i prefer cf kernel since it has all functions enabled like 3 way torch and loop capabilities (no other kernel has those)! I've been using the cf kernel ever since i got my NOTE 2 month ago and never encountered that problem before!
Just want to share my experience. i faced similar problem today. I connected to WIFI in my office but was not working. Then i started browser and realized i need to login to cyberroam for WIFI to work. Everything worked smoothly thereafter. Hope this helps !!! Goodluck !!!
any firewall rules enabled on router? or any IPS/filter enabled?
i use droidwall, i tried disabling it but it didnt work! I tried browsing directly after clean install (no app installed) still didn't work! 3G works great.

WIFI signal randomly dropping on ICS

Ok random problem for me..
Using the note since December last year with no problems... Until now!
Have tried most custom roms now but have recently stuck with stock as I like to use the sky go app so I can watch the F1 at work.
My problem is with any ICS Samsung based ROM my wifi keeps dropping and then reconnecting but the strange thing is only with my virgin media dlink router. If I connect to my BT home hub its fine (but so slow on YouTube etc and my PC is hooked to the virgin line which I use for all share)
Is there a fix for this? I don't want to go back to GB even though the connection problem doesn't occur there as I'm one of the few who actually likes stock ICS. I have done a search and there are a lot of complaints threads etc even with the s2 but no definitive fixes. Any and all help and suggestions appreciated
Cheers

OpenWrt
Have the same issue with Stock SGN ICS and routers with OpenWrt. Still dont know what causing it.
Regards.
Yeah, I´ve been experiencing that too. I have been working abroad recently, and when I was at home it seemed fine so I assumed it was the network rather than the phone. Using it side by side with my ipod, the ipod is working more consistently, so I wonder if it just has problems holding a connection when the wifi signal is weak (all the routers here are wireless G, while at home I used a newer N router). I noticed, in particular, that when the ipod was reporting very poor signal, the note was giving good signal, but was not able to connect, and then lost connection altogether.
Do you still get drops if you have your phone very close to the access point?
I get less frequent drops if im closer but it still loses connection then auto reconnects. I just never had this problem with GB.
Well i thought i'd try a couple of the custom roms.. So far King Droid 4.2, AllianceRom V1, Cassies XLR and now on RocketRom v7. They are all doing it. Im at my wits end.
So im now gonna try a few different kernels.. If i remember rightly the kernel handles the WIFI?

[Q] p1000 wifi died ?

My tab decided for some reason not to see any wifi networks. First it was stuck at "turning on wifi", someone suggested to update rom.
So i updated (cm10 nightly to new cm10 nightly)
All i did is changed wifi channel on my router, then due to "turning on wifi" changed it back, but problem didnt go away...
Router is fine, all my other devices (2x android and a PC) see and connect to it without any problems.
This has happened for a second time.
First time it was on GB and it just went away and started seeing and connecting again (after numerous reboots/resets)... No idea.
And i cant get a straight solution to this problem... Now my tab is just an expensive media player...

Didn't help. Needed to restock to GB.
So today i decided to do JellyBean again. As soon as CM10.1 got installed Wifi disappeared. Tried adding manually - no dice. Network itself is fine, i use it at this very moment as i type this.
So, why my tablet cant see any Wifi networks under JB ? Its defeinitely not faulty wifi nor router, but OS. So how to fix this ?
#EDIT1# Also there is no SIM in my tab...
I used ics for my tab with sucess. I could not find Wi-Fi or3 g using that kernal. Might be a problrm with the way the kernal was made.

[Q] why does wifi always die in DjangoManoucheX?

Okay guys I've got a constant problem with DMX, not just with this version, but I start to get tired of it. So after a day or two of flashing, wifi starts to stuck at "Obtaining IP address", and does not connect at all after that. As I said it's not only with this version (I'm on 1.6.5), I have also tried different kernels, etc, but it's still the same. I don't want to always reflash, but I'd also stick with this ROM as I really like it. This problem does not come up on CM-based ROMs at all. Thanks for any tips.
Btw I've also tried static/dynamic IP settings, I've changed a router (not because of this), reseted it many times, so not that I didn't try anything at all.
I never had a issue... Have you installed the rom with full wipe?
Of course I did a full wipe, didn't restore any system apps, and as I said it works perfectly for a few days, then bamm! I was playing SongPop, started a game with someone and it stopped when downloading songs.. then I went in wifi options and it showed this IP bug once again. By the way I've just finished reflashing (now without full wipe), and it doesn't even connect now. I really like flashing ROM's etc, but not the same one all over again lol.
Finally I could set static IP on my phone, works now, Thread can be closed. If anybody has the same problem (I've read I'm no the only one), then holla at me!
I'm having a wifi issue from the day i have purchased this phone my wifi always go in the sleep mode don't know why no matter which ROM i use it goes to sleep after the screen is locked or after 5-6 sec of no use of phone.
i'm the only one having this prob i guess.. I thing its an hardware issue, not sure, hope some1 could help me out ^_^
Note: i have kept wifi policy sleep never
Problems with wifi is a kernel issue.
Its adviseable to post which kernel is used
Well I wouldn't be sure, as I was using Kowalski kernel and KoB kernel too, both had the same problem, and only on DjangoManoucheX ROM. But it seems to work now with static IP set.
akash.mahadeshwar has his ROM/kernel stated in his signature, too bad I can't help you.
Lol I don't know if its hardware or software issue but changing rom or kernel dosent fixes it :-/

have you tried changing your wifi to static ip?
if not, then go into wifi settings and long press/modify the one you cannot connect to. Go to advanced settings and change from DHCP to Static IP. Run Windows commander (just type 'cmd' in the Start Menu search box), and type 'ipconfig /all'. It will show all the informations you need to type to your device's wifi settings. You can give almost any number to the first IP field (when your IP getaway is, for example 192.168.7.1, you only have to change the last number to any you want to, like 192.168.7.155.. but the best way is to get the IP number your device used before wifi got stucked). If you can't see DNS1 and DNS2 in your ipconfig, then you have to go into your router's settings (in browser), that will show them. If you type everything correctly, then Save button won't be greyed out no more, and voila. Wifi works perfectly for me since then. I hope it helps.

Changing Wi-Fi to static is far from being a solution; at best it's a workaround.
It's probably related to LG code, used to compile the module loaded by kernel.
I'm not sure if the problem you're reporting us exactly this: I have a brief disconnection/reconnection sometimes when I unlock the phone (Wi-Fi suspends policy sets as never), but this it's not annoying me to much because while sleeping it's connected, and the 2-3s after wake-up is not to much.
Do not say "thanks"; just press it under here.

No, my problem was I could not connect to my wifi AT ALL. Couldn't even do it after a full wipe and reflash, so using a static IP is a solution for me, as it works for 3 days by now. It can be related to the stock ROM's code, as CyanogenMod ROMs don't have this problem for me.
Try flashing KoB kernels again, in mine its wifi work correctly

[Q] CM11 WiFi Connection Issue

Hey guys! I have only just joined XDA Developers so please excuse me if I have posted this thread in the wrong area. I have a Samsung Galaxy S Advance (GT-I9070) running stock Jellybean firmware (4.1.2 ITV) but as you all know the stock firmware for this device is full of bugs and freezes often. I successfully rooted my device and installed Team Canjica's CM10.2 ROM (4.3) from the thread on XDA Developers but the WiFi wasn't working. I then installed Maclaw's CM11 ROM (KitKat) because I thought that might solve the issue but it didn't. Here are the details:
Device scans for nearby wireless routers.
I type in the password for my home router.
Device saves router. "Saved, Secured" message displayed.
I tap on my home router in the list to connect.
Device says "Connecting" for a couple of seconds and then goes back to saying "Saved, Secured".
I browsed through the forums and some users suggested switching WiFi Frequency to Auto and turning off WiFi Optimisation but neither of those methods worked for me. The ROM was installed successfully and all other features are working properly so I don't think that is the issue. And my router settings are also alright since I am able to connect to it from my Nexus 7 (2013) properly. Can someone please provide me with a working solution for this issue? I will start receiving very high data usage bills soon because my data plan isn't unlimited. Thank you!
Is your ssid hidden (not broadcasted) by any chance? i had those troubles on hidden home network. Sometimes it worked after a while, sometimes it didn't. What helped me is to broadcast ssid for a moment, get connected with phone, remove broadcast (it will reboot router so phone will lose wifi for a moment). Then somehow it got connected normally

I just checked my router settings and SSID Broadcast is enabled. I tried flashing OmniRom 4.3 thinking that this may be because of a problem with CyanogenMod but the problem still persists. Is there any additional kernel that I was supposed to install perhaps?
CyanogenMod 11 version ?

Just a detail to those who have not upgraded to JB stock and think it is impossible to use it without problems:
All bugs and freezes in Stock JB currently are perfectly finished.
I use STOCK, only with modified kernel (cocore 8.2) without freezes or bugs in months of use.
Enjoy the developer's work (cocafe), because without it JB probably would be impossible in SGA. However we have JB 100% functional and bug-free.
About KK and WIFI bugs:
The only KK (or based) ROM that used without WIFI bugs was RR 20140313.
In fact, the only issue is incall vol. in my experience.
WiFi Direct, Camera -> Panorama is laggy , Screen Recorder not working Not Tested
I also noticed that the battery is worse durability.
But I went back to JB Stock -- personal preference.

Actually I did try that method. Flashed Samsung's latest stock firmware I9070XXLQL (ITV) and then rooted and installed CoCore. To be honest overall performance was much better and UI smoothness was improved. But after a couple of days of regular usage with just a few basic applications such as a note taker, train arrival time, WhatsApp etc. the device started freezing up a couple of times a day again. I admit it worked much better than before but freezes and hangs were still quite frequent. Running OmniROM 4.3 now with no issues so far except for dialer FC, laggy panorama and non functional WiFi hotspot.

WIFI not working with cm-11-20140521-UNOFFICIAL-janice and cm11.0_janice.nova.201406
Same wifi problem with cm-11-20140521-UNOFFICIAL-janice and cm11.0_janice.nova.20140601. Wifi not connecting even after giving the right password (used to work correctly with jb4.1.2 and still works with desktop) only showing saving and connecting wifi. Then the wifi connection is shown to be saved. If wifi does not work with cyanogenmod11, then what's the use of upgrading?
Is wifi is not working in any custom kitkat Rom?
Please suggest a solution.
Try couple times to connect. I remember sometimes I had to reconnect 2-3 times before it gets connection. And the problem with kernel was about WIFI not turning on at all, it was not even search SSIDs.
