Milestone Wi-fi/3G connects but not send data

Hello there,
As a newcomer, I found out these foruns filled up with great information and guys willing to help, so came here to ask for some help ....I am both excited and dissapointed with my brand new Milestone. Bought the handset about 5 days ago, which came with Android 2.0. Then updated it straight away to version 2.1 via "Motorola Software Update". So far so good ...here´s the problem I am facing :
While connected to wi-fi or 3g(issue is easier to notice due to 3G icon at the task bar, which points out in those small arrows data that is being sent/received) phone stops to receive data out of the blue. All connectios are cut off(it also happens when the handset is locked up). Some basic trouble shooting i did:
- tested all pcs connected to the same wi-fi network. No issues detected for these
- reset wi-fi router configs. Didn´t work
- tried other wi-fi router. Presented same issue
- swapped another carrier chip to test 3g connection. Presented the same issue
- tested my GSM chip on ther phone. Worked properly
- Reset phone to default settings. This time the connection took longer to drop, like 30 minutes, instead of the usual 10 minutes. After the first drop, it´s started behaving the same way again.​
It seems pretty much that there an issue going on here (obvious...hehehe). I am considering the following:
- Might be a software issue. So, right now i am downgrading it back to 2.0 version, check if it works properly and then move to 2.1 hopping to get the issue fixed.
- Use retailer warranty and claim for a new phone =/​

Guys, after downgrading version to 2.0, phone stills presenting the same issue. I think it´s turning into hardware issue =/....does anyone have a clue about it?

[Q] O2 - Mobile internet has stopped working! :(

Hi all,
I've had SGS for over 8 months now on O2 Contract, UK. Currently running on Darkys Rom. Everything was great until yesterday morning the mobile internet has suddenly stopped working!
I've tried everything; Re-setting the correct APN manually, Switch on/off, Taking battery out. Called O2 & and tried to reset with their assistant but none of it worked. The network seems to be up and running fine on their side.
The symtoms are; I do have the 3G icon on the bar (Displaying 'H'), since I usually get a good strong signal in my area. The problem is, when I start the browser, the google.co.uk webpage works ok-ish. But for any other sites, doesn't work. Can't access email or facebook or anyother internet related apps. All connections fail.
I have other O2-Simcard. And when I try to use internet on my SGS, the same problem occurs. (Websites load less than half and everything stops) The sim cards work fine in my other phone.
Could this be a hardware problem?
I didn't drop or anything, I've been taking a real good care

You say Google works therefore internet works .Errors are possibly elsewhere in settings .
Worth doing a factory reset after backing up data to see if that clears the problem .
As its yet another Darky rom problem i suggest asking Darky if above fails .
Hardware probably not blame the rom or settings first .
You will have to remove the rom if you need to make a warranty claim .

I agree with JJ, this sounds like a ROM/Settings problem. If you can get Google, then your hardware is fine. An Antenna failure is usually all or nothing.
Maybe check in Settings/Wireless and Network/Wireless Network Settings/Network Mode and make sure it is still in Auto mode, or switch to 3G only?
As a last resort, flash to a stock rom and see if the problem goes away.

Network mode has always been Auto mode & I tried all options but no luck..
The thing is, the 3g internet has always worked fine with Darky Rom. It's just that this happned all of sudden.
I guess I'll try factory reset first, if it doesn't work, I'll then flash to stock rom.. Glad to hear it probably won't be the antenna failure.

Hi guys, I'm still at work so haven't had a chance to do anything.
But magically! I've just put my other (PAYG) O2 simcard and the internet now works! However, still not as good as before. (Slightly laggy)
I was using Darkys 9.3 when the internet stopped working properly, so I upgraded to 9.5 hoping that it would fix the problem, but no help.
Since that it's working now. It seems internet connections is slower than when I had 9.3. Well, at least it works now. (Kind of)

Wifi wierd problem

Hey, I`ve aquired the 2x 2 days ago and I think it`s something else, I`ve had plenty of PDA phones and smartphones, but the dual core experience it`s highly noticed.
I`m on Modaco Custom ROM, build no GRJ22, kernel 2.6.32.9, baseband vrs 1035.21_20110622, 2.3.4 and apart from random reboots, my Wifi doesn`t seems to connect if I don`t have data enabled. I say "it doesn`t seems", cause apparently it connects, browser is working, market doesn`t, gmail app doesn`t, weather doesn`t and any other game that requires internet connection doesn`t.
So in order to connect to wifi I have to enable data, then the wifi. Viceversa it doesn`t work or from some reason my wifi connection isn`t in range.
I only wanted to know if I`m the only one with this problem and how can be fixed.

I have exactly the same problem. Someone released a brand new baseband a few days ago which I might have a go with. I didn't have the same problem on other ROMs.

wifi-3g switch error in playstore stock LG O2x 2.3.4 gb

Hi guys! I'm having some trouble with my phone for a while now and can't seem to understand why. Basically after some use of wifi or 3G data i just leave the phone in standby and when i try to use again wifi to download some app it just doesn't(starts downloading but the traffic is zero and after a few minutes it says "error downloading..."). If i switch to 3G it works but even this doesn't work sometimes(for example today i was in my car and wanted to use maps app with 3G and it didn't work). Oh and sometimes i get wifi error in settings and the only way to get over these problems is to reboot .Any advice is more than welcomed
P.S. i was rooted with v20c, got rid of root and installed official v20c again(from lg) then updated to v20s(had a bad baseband) and then back to v20e which is my latest firmware for vodafone romania.

try to change the BB/RIL combination....this is usually the issue....
for example: I use the V20C Russian BB/RIL combination though in India it is V20H. It does not matter which Baseband is installed as long as it suits ur necessities and needs.

@SREEPRAJAY will try this but i think it's a bit more deep because i get some serious freeze and before i started rooting and things like this i didn't have such problems i am going to think twice about messing with the software on my next phone.

i flashed the stock v20s rom on my optimus and with bb 512 i still have the issue. if for some reason i start downloading some app from market over wifi and the connection is lost(suppose i'm not at home anymore) and i switch to 3g to continue it works but later when i get near a wifi hot-spot and try to download or update some app i no longer can. browsing in play store and web works perfectly in this situation but it's weird that this happens.

Tried another baseband and ril (v10d bb and v20o ril) and am quite satisfied with them but the problem persists and it's really annoying .It's like from system boot if i use my wi-fi to update my apps from play store and switch to 3g and back to wi-fi just once, i have to reboot my device because downloading from play store no longer works.
If anybody has the same problem and found out the solution please post because rebooting is just awful :-<

[Help] Mobile data problem

Hello, some time ago I started having problems related to the mobile data on my phone. It just acted wierd ( I'll exlain it below ) and then after some time I started having simillar problems with WiFi. So I decided to do a clean wipe on my phone and install the ICS stock ROM again. After doing it, I stopped having problems with the WiFi, but I continue to have problems with my mobile data.
This is the problem:
Some random time after enabling the mobile data transfer, the "H" icon on top of the screen turns to "3G" and the data connection just... stops. If I disable data connection then, the "3G" icon will still be on top of the screen for some time, and, after it disappears, I can re-enable the mobile data transfer and it will work again for some random time. ( Less then 5 minutes )

Now, I really hope that the problem is related to my carrier, as I said, I did a clean wipe and installed the ROM again and it didn't help, so the only option left would be that there's a problem with my phone's hardware, which I probably won't be able to fix.
Also, my phone specs:
Model: LG Optimus 2X P990
ROM: Stock 4.0.4 - v30A EUROPE-OPEN
The phone is rooted.
