While trying to send a vCard via txt to my sister I had to go back to save her new number. When returning to my original vCard txt it erased the info and appeared as a new blank txt. After discarding the new msg the vCard draft reappeared and will not allow me to delete nor edit which leaves the draft as the first message I see upon opening msg app. Please help....

Thanks for the jump start but no dice. #1 I couldnt wipe data through settings so I used titanium backup to clear data... Didn't work. #2 I tried to restore my old txt data from June... Retrieved an old message, but all recent text still there. I do have a nandriod from a few months back... Better than a reset I guess. Extremely persistent draft

When you are on your messages page hit menu and go to Drafts. You can select the message there and delete it.

Hey dudes
Every time I receive a new message it deletes the last message that was received from that contact. If I send a contact a message, it deletes the one that I sent last to them. Happens with all contacts. Tried uaibg Handecent SMS and same thing happens. And ideas without a hard reset. I basically have only 1 received and 1 sent from a contact at any given time.
Cheers

Did you read the first sticky post here?
Hi, yesterday I added a new contact into my Nexus. When I went to text the contact later on, the message failed to send. I noticed that I had entered the contact number incorrectly (had an extra 0 at the front) and corrected my mistake. The thing is now, whenever I receive a message from that contact, and reply, it tries to reply to the incorrect number I originally entered, even though there is no reference to it. I have to keep deleting the thread on Handcent, and starting a new one, but it still always messes up when I have to reply to a text.
Anyone know why this is? I tried to delete the contact from the phone, and I get this message: "This contact contains information from multiple accounts. Information from read only accounts will be hidden in your contacts lists, not deleted"
If it's of any help I have nexus one with cyanogenmod 6.0 installed and use handcent and have whatsapp installed as well (not sure if ths makes any difference)
Bump, incase anyone missed it.
Have looked at the contact info via your web Gmail?
When you go to edit your contact, keep scrolling down. Android as an annoying way a merging multiple contacts if they have the same name...

Did that but there is nothing out of the ordinary there either.

Did that too, as well as contact storage and contacts. It has to be being cached somewhere, but I don't know where.
I am using Stock GB version 20G... My Messaging App is showing "1" home screen but there are no texts. I have tired.. Battery pull, trying another sim card, deleted Messages data...
I can't think of anything else to try and don't want to do a hardware reset...
Any ideas???.
I had the same problem and solved by deleting the sms database.
You have to delete /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
That's the SMS database file. After that, reboot your phone and try to receive a SMS to regenerate the file.
You can backup that file just in case.
Cheers!

When ever iv had that problem I just waited for another message and it cleared the 1 away.
Still got it showing 1 on the homescreen Messaging app. Deleted all android data on internal sd & external sd. Been texting off/on since it happened Friday. Just trying to ignore it but am sure it will delete itself after a couple of weeks lol (I hope).
U could try flash a new ROM if u want. Lol
For me, deleting the file with Root Explorer did the trick.

Just thought I would mention that its strangely sorted it self lol. As it was New Years, sent loads of texts and let them build up and it was showing 23 on Messaging App. Left them for a while and then started to read each one.
For some reason, this then refreshed the amount of messages and its not showing any texts unread now . Seems yet another bug with the O2X?.

If you are using an alternative messaging app, then you need to disable the notifications from the stock messaging app. Otherwise it will always be showing that there are unread messages.

No, its the original LG Optimus 2X Stock GB Messaging App lol. Never used a another one as I like the standard messaging app... So, it was never that.
Still find it all strange though :-$
me the same with stock lg 20o.
stuck with "1" in the notification center after hard reset the phone.

Try and send yourself loads of texts and let them build up.. Then click on them one by one. That's what sorted mine, but got 23 texts from.different people on New Years Eve lol.
After attempting to send a contact, this annoying message showed with the name "anonymous" that I can't seem to delete, any way to reset the messaging app? Clear data is grayed out in the settings app. I've tried to clear everything else. I'm rooted.

That appears to be a draft. Hit settings---delete drafts. Then hit settings in that draft area to delete it. I think...
Wow, that was simple. You'd think it would let me just delete it from the outbox. Problem solved!

LOL. Now that you don;t have any drafts that delete drafts options is gone. Like magic stuff....:silly:
Has anyone been able to restore text messages and if so what app/process did you use?? I tried titanium backup and it failed and it goes through the process but nothing shows up in SMS app.

SMS backup and restore
"SMS Backup & Restore" from the play store. i made the sms backup on my S4, moved the files to my PC, then transferred them to the N5 and did the restore through the same app.
Go SMS let u backup to their cloud and restore from it too. That's what I use. No files to transfer at all.

That app failed for me. It first asked me to set it as a default and then tried but failed miserably.

Worked for me fabulously.
My SMS backup and restore said it was restoring my text and then said they were all duplicates except for one and there was only one conversation in hangouts. Tried it twice with the same result, my google account is connected to sms backup and restore but it is not restoring them to hangouts.

I've tried every app and none would restore them to Hangouts, even though they would say completed. In the end I disabled Hangouts cos it's sh*t, and installed the proper AOSP messaging app for Android 4.4 (you can install it the normal app way and it works, but it won't let you save senders numbers unless you install it yourself as a system app. Anyway, once that was installed, went into it and there were all my messages I'd restored earlier that weren't there in Hangouts. Hope this helps.
SMS backup+
SMS backup+ has worked well for me... can back it up to gmail. Saved my pants in court before.
