I am having trouble in recovery with my external sd. I am using otg cable which is functioning since I can see files with it in es file explorer. when in recovery (cwm) it will not mount? I have a patriot 3.0 and sandisk cruiser 2.0 neither works. seems as if it is cwm issue but just a guess. both are formatted. im using viperrom s-on and 1.31. thx in advance!
I use twrp and it works just fine

I can also confirm working with TWRP without any issues.
Can I flash twrp 2.5 right over top, I bet that is it, thx man.
Edit. U can and I did and that worked out I like cwm but with this phone's limited memory and otg is essential. Thx for replies.

I don't think the zip works with 4G. I think you have to adb or use tool provided in OP

Have you tried flashing any zips? I once accidently flashed TWRP 2.0 for the Crespo 3G and it would nandroid fine but would give me errors when I tried to flash zips.

Download the android sdk. Place the recovery.img in the tools folder.
Now change direction to the tools folder via command prompt: cd /path/to/your/tools
Now type this: fastboot flash recovery nameofyourrecovery.img
Now reboot to your freshly flashed recovery

This is an awesome recovery. The only thing I couldn't get to work that I tried to use was adb sideload. My computer couldn't find the phone. I just put twrp back on, sideloaded my Rom thhen came back to this recovery. I'm going to play with the sideloading a bit to see if maybe I just did something wrong. Keep up the great work.

You could manually install it from SD card, but you'd have to be stock. I think I'll give it a shot and give up Cataclysm for a few days to check out the new camera fixes.

Yes, but the process is the same. You can also do it from the SD card: http://www.technostall.com/nexus-7-android-43-update/
Perfect option if you don't have a computer with you.

Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
You don't have to have stock recovery. I've got TWRP and it flashed just fine. Put the zip on your SD. Boot into TWRP/CWM, flash as you would any other zip.
BUT, you WILL lose root.
*edit* I should also add that other than TWRP and root, I was completely stock.
Cool! Did you lose user data?
