performance improvements on stock .244 - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I have tried several times to flash a custome ROM.Always i got issues like no more boot, freez etc.
I use @ the moment the .244 stock. + locked bootloader !!!
It was routed via DoomLord description : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386405
+ load dual recovery 2.6.4.
Each time i tried to load some custom firmware it fails.
My question is: how can i improve the performance on the stock rom? i will love to have it more fluid and fast.
Thank you.

Unlock the bootloader and use doom kernel to overclock the cpu.
Edit: if you don't want to change the kernel you can install Trickster app from playstore than you can tweak your cpu settings.

which phone model do u have? do u know FOR SURE ur bootloader is unlockable? also... read in Monxified rom on the procedure. if you read it over it might make more sense. you actually have to make sure the firmware MATCHES the one used for the rom... and FLASH over your existing firmware with out wiping. that works for me since my bootloader is unlocked. im using the c6606. honestly the performance for me has been great. i dont see a need to overclock. i also have a gs4 and quite honestly the xz doesnt really feel slow... just a thought. i really do with i could unlock my bootloader... stupid t-mobile....

i checked several times to unlock it via sony procedure...
just installed ROM Manager and i'll give it a try today.

kernel direct flashing ?!!

i've heard from someone that we can flash the kernel directly through our phone without using flashtool is that possible ???!!
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
yes, i think thats possible, I think it is quite complicated to do so since our x8 has lower level of configuration of hardware...
It is possible, Nobodyatall said in the future he will do that!
This Mail Was Sent To You Using XDA Premium!!
Well that's a great news let's see who's the first to bring it to our X8.
lots of people knows about it so its true , iam not the only one who wishing something like that afterall
If this is true..does it mean we don't need to unlock boot loader to flash new kernels.

Set CPU to higher MHz

Kinda new to the android os, coming from windows 7 and windows mobile before. First, i have a HTC Vivid.....I am currently still running the vivd stock rom...I have rooted it with S-off, and have flashed a few different Kernels. Doesnt matter witch kernel i use, if i try to set the CPU to a higher MHz it seams to only show 1188 as the max. A couple of the kernels are suppose to run little bit higher than that, like for one, the KangBang kernel is rated at 2.0 with S-off, but i still only get 1188 option as the max. Now, with these apps like SetCPU really able to change and or adjust the CPU frequency?
Thanks!!

Before flashing a custom kernel you have to first flash an insecure boot.IMG. if you want oc. Go to my kernel thread and down load the stockish kernel. Extract the holiday.IMG from the zip and flash it in fastboot.
It may be flashable in recovery selecting the holiday option when the installer asks. After doing this you should be able to flash any oc kernel of your choosing. You only have yo flash the insecure boot.IMG once. Afterwards you shouldn't ever need to do it again.

Thank you! Didn't see anywhere about having to do that, will try that when I get home today. I'm guessing that after I flash that .IMG I need to reflash the kernel too? The kernels work really good without oc but just wanted to tinker...boy I tell ya, I'm really liking android over windows that's for sure

You just flash my ROM in recovery. I'd advise selecting stockish kernel when asked as the installer can be picky about what recovery you use for kozmikkernel.

Dear friends,
I always stuck at SE logo whenever I try to install custom rom. Here is what I do:

3. Copy xrecovery's 3 files to system/bin
4. Restart in xrecovery and Choose Install custom zip
5. After installation, I reboot and stuck!!!
I have tried "MiniCM7-2.2.1-shakira" and "GingerDX-v029-shakira.zip"
Any Help?? I dont want to unlock my bootloader.
Thnx
"MiniCM7-2.2.1-shakira" and "GingerDX-v029-shakira.zip" uses custom kernel.must on unlockbootloader

No, how to do this?? is there any risk of hard brick?
No just find the baseband file and flash it on flashtool

i recommend to you to start from scratch, 2.1, root, flash baseband, install busybox, install CWM recovery, the full wipe and flash rom, you can flash the baseband with flashtool, and i think there is no risk, i have done it several times, the baseband xxxx15 is required to flash custom roms.

If you have installed gingerdx there is no need to flash baseband xxx15 because you already have it!

Is it possible to downgrade from jellybean back to ics

Hi guys , need some information, I was just wondering is it possible that I could downgrade back to ics after putting jellybean on my phone?
Your help is appreciated.
All the best
Chris.
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
Yes it is.
How did you upgrade?
If you upgraded via FlashTool you can just as easily downgrade using the same method, just by using an ICS .TFT instead of the JB one.
Any reason why you want to downgrade?
Make sure you do a complete wipe to make the ROM to be good and dandy, and the battery will get better after a few days.
Sure you can, you just need to flash ics ROM with flashtool (you dont need to have unlocked bootloader)
But I dont see the reason to downgrade
Sent from my LT30p using xda app-developers app
Thanks for the replies, I want to go back to ICS due to the major battery drain that I am getting, I have read a few threads now on here and also esato and jellybean battery seems to be very hit and miss.
I live how fast the phone has become but can't live with a poor battery. Got any ideas before I go back to ICS?

ok well , i have just read that formatting to extenal and internal memory helps , so i have just done that .
as you say its a big upgrade firmware wise so going to give it a couple of days and then look at what the diffrence is again .
Ok so reporting back on my T's jellybean upgrade, seems that it's starting to level out a lot now, as I said in my last post did the memory thing and formatted both And the phone has responded very very well.
Seems to get a whole days usage now and maybe a bit more. I always charge anyways over night so nothing to worry about. How's yours?

i had the same dilema as you to downgrade to 4.0.4...
I noticed today that the phone drains 4 to 8 % battery in standby mode over the night.. i havent noticed something like this in 4.0.4 .
I think the battery management was better.
Anyway i will follow your suggestion to wait a few days to level the situation .
I updated with mac bridge . What is the best method if i decide to downgrade ?
I need a clean install method .Format everything and clean install the rom i decide to install.
Also does the repair option in pc companion or bridge does a clean install;
Thank you

Look in the All in one thread. Its the first thread in the Q&A section and has all available ftf files in post 3.
Yep use the original generic UK tft there on the forum mate there is a whole list of them, use flashtool and you'll have no problems.
In addition to that I downgraded my via flashtool and used pc companion to upgrade to jellybean if that helps also at the same time formatted the memory external and internal and once the upgrade was done wiped all data and set up, I've gone a full 20 Hours now and have 40% left which seems like it's done the trick.
Good luck mate.

no luck with repair option.... It restores 4.1.2 and not the factory rom ..which in my case was 4.0.4 or 4.0.1..
So i will download the generic uk 4.0.4 rom and flash it with flash tool ..and thats it ? no other actions required ?
i chose this one [STOCK FIRMWARE] [ROM]LT30p Stock UK GENERIC 4.04 7.0.A.1.303 by batman_112
I also going to use flashtool 0.9.10.1 for mac.
Is it better if i use the official sony flash tool EMA ?
In my opinion the Jelly bean update is more of a downgrade then any thing it's very buggy and has a dated looking ui and the new features have been used before on other manufacturers phones like Motorola the lock screen is gay as **** and the camera is now a 12 megapixel instead of a 13 and the keyboard seems to be the same with no new JB features.
Sent from my LT30p using xda premium
Yeah mate that's exactly it, using that firmware and flashtool you should have no problems at all.
I'm going to carry on playing with jellybean for a couple more days and then reevaluate which firmware I would prefer to be on.
Hope that all goes well for you anyways.

If pccompanion restores 4.1.2 that is now the factory Rom. It's the latest official Rom for your phone provided by Sony.
If you really want the Rom you had before the official upgrade you have now, then use any file explorer and open the build.prop file that is found in the system folder.
Find the line that starts ro.version.customisation. And then had 8 numbers after it, tell me what those numbers are and I can point you in the right direction
Anyway, you can't use Emma to flash that, you must use flash tool

[Q] What ROMs can I use with a locked bootloader (I have a C6606)?

I've been searching around, but can't seem to find a straight answer on all ROM's. Which ROM's are usable with a locked boot loader? Thanks in advance.
Edit - Done some more reading... Can I do anything with a locked boot-loader really? Or am I forever limited to 4.1.2 based ROMs?
Take a proper look in the Android development forum dude!
There are loads of ROMs you can flash on a locked bootloader. Generally the ROM will say LB/UB and must be a modified stock ROM.
The only ROMs you can't flash are cyanogenmod/Aokp /aosp based ROMs.
Or upgrade to 4.2.2. with a stock tft via flash tool.
