[Q] Clockworkmod doesn't work on ICS - LG Optimus 2x

Hello
I could not find a way to make the clockworkmod working on my mobile..
I am using a P990 phone (German version made in Korea). I am running the official 4.04 lg room (v30a) - (it has 7 partitions). Using the AIO-P990-ToolKit_v5.6 I tried to apply the recovery ICS-cwm-6.0.2.5 (provided in the tool) and the latest one ICS-cwm-6.0.3.1.
following the steps provided by the AIO I applied the recovery the first time... it says that was successfully.. while booting in the recovery mode it doesn't open and start looping... (only the LG logo appears)
I executed the same steps once again. Then in says that was applied successfully, but te SW upgrade logo never becomes black. then I disconnect the cable and started in the recovery mode. It opened the recovery. I applied the root, looked fine...
while applying the Cyanongem 10, it said that was fine, but while bookting the old lg rom is back. Seems that it was not able to write the files inside the phone. I did the wipe in all the caches, and it did't book anymore....
I restored the original firmware (with AIO) and it is back. I tried once again with the new cwm version... it never works!
What can I do to change the rom in my mobile?

Hi!
You made a misstake when you flashed cm. You flashed a cm for old bootloader and partition layout while you were on v30a which is on new bootloader and partition layout.
Please use AIO-toolkit to repartitionate your phone to old bootloader and partition layout, and flash your cm you have downloaded.
Or
Repartitionate your phone to new bootloader and partition layout and download a cm which is for new bootloader and partition layout and flash that.

Thanks for your help. I will try your recommendations. but I am wonder why the clockworkmod doesn't work properly. The first time that I flash it using the AIO toolkit it doesn't work. I cannot start it, In the second time that I did, it worked.

[RECOVERY] Easy Recovery for Optimus 2X (CWM & Stock)

ROM Manager now supports the O2X, use that instead!
---------------------------------------------------------------
This is a tool to easily switch recoveries on the Optimus 2X - this is simply a frontend for the .bat file that paul posted (same adb functionality), some people just prefer a GUI for these things and I had some time to kill. It includes the both the stock & clockworkmod recovery images and you get to choose which one to write to the phone.
Thanks to paul for both the clockworkmod & stock recovery images.
Notes:
- This will NOT work on the T-Mobile G2X - dont even try.
- You do not need a rooted device.
- If for some reason all hell breaks loose and the process fails or the program crashes, you can simply use pauls .bat file to overwrite the recovery image or try the program again.
Guide:
1. Make sure you have the LG mobile driver installed for your O2X (You need to be able to run adb commands).
2. Connect your phone to your computer and enable USB debugging (Settings->Applications->Development).
3. Open the program and follow the 3 steps.
Problems?
1. The program needs to create a folder to extract needed files, place the program in a folder with read & write access. (or run as administrator).
2. Your phone needs to be turned on.
Download:
REMOVED - Use ROM Manager instead.
While we are at it, would it be worth it to create a GUI to manage kernels and small tweaks?
Great job and... good idea!!!
nice and easy.
just the way i like it
thank you
Works flawlessly. THX!
nice
wow nice job,
you make it easy for everybody.
thanks allot.
a question, if I'm Rom Modaco ext4 or another, I click the stock and gives the mobile factory (stock ROM)?
What if I have more than one backup in CWM? And what exactly means Stock Recovery? Will it reset my phone to stock? without any CWM and stuff installed afterwards?

atm this program just lets you easily switch recovery images, so no it does not flash the stock rom.

As stated above, this tool only overwrites the recovery partition, it does not touch any other partitions - to get a stock ROM image you need to flash one using either nvflash or smartflash.

This does not touch your sdcard or any of the backups made by ClockworkMod recovery. This is a tool to change between ClockworkMod recovery and the stock recovery provided by LG.
wonderfull! +1
this has completely ****ed my phone.. wont even boot now.

Same problem here. Had to flash with NVFlash again...
This should not do anything that will prevent your phone from booting :/
It does the same as the .bat provided by paul that installs CWM. (Overwrites the recovery partition).
This does not touch the system or boot partitions, only the recovery. I don't know if the phone stops booting with a broken recovery (should only prevent you from entering recovery).
Could you try pauls installer? Also, what firmware did you guys try it on? I have tried on the V10a and V10b from LG plus the MCR. (This will NOT work on the T-Mobile G2X).
EDIT: Since ROM Manager is supporting the O2X, you should use that instead.

There are several threads on how to flash to JB, and coming from JB you have to flash to ICS first. Here is a good flash guide on JB->ICS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494493 When you flash in CWM to ICS you'll get a "quick" installation (about 20/30% as you say) and then the device reboots to a "bootloop". This happens because change in kernel. You can just pull the battery after the kernel has been flashed and insert battery while holding down 3-button combo to force into CWM. Now run the .zip again and it should flash properly in the new CWM and kernel.

There seems to be a lot of problems with the new 6. recovery. You may want to install an older version which is an option in rom manager. Perhaps v5.0.2.7. Question, fo you only have one rom backed up? If so it may be corrupted. You may have to use the lg updater tool and upgrade to gingerbread to restore if you only have one rom backed up.
Also if I understand your post you installed cm7 and it was stuck on the load screen. Did it ever boot fully? If not on cm you have to do a factory data reset before booting or it will just bootloop.

I did the factory reset and it did fully boot up once briefly but unfortunately the phone ran out of battery and i havent been able to get it past the CM7 logo screen since. While its in the bootloop I can get it to connect to the the LG support tool and start the update process to get it back to Gingerbread but at some point it fails and says it cant connect with the phone. At this point i dont really care what i have to do to get my phone back. I didnt see the option in rom manager to install an older version.
UPDATE:
As i was typing this i retraced the steps and now CM7 is up and running on my phone but so far its unable to connect to the network.

Ok. On the thrill, if you were on gingerbread youll need to flash the cm7 for the p920/o3d. The cm7 rom for the thrill will only get signal for froyo. As for reverting to an older version of cwm recovery, i believe it is an option when you choose in the very top bar of rom manager to flash a recovery. Press that and i think it asks you to choose a recovery, i believe o3d is the choice, than after that the option to pick a recovery should show up. If you do flash an older recovery try your back up and see if it recovers. Hope this helps.

[Q] [20a] stuck in cwm bootloop after installing 20b update

Hi,
i am stuck in a bootloop.
i have an unlocked bootloader and had CM10.1 previously.
i then went back to an old 20a backup i made some month ago.
that worked fine.
my phone downloaded an update to 20b then, and i installed it.
after that i am stuck in a bootloop now. normal booting gives me cwm.
i am not able to turn the phone off and charge it, as mentioned somewhere else, to clear the "boot to recovery" flag.
someone knows a way to clear this flag?
Its not important for me if i run stock or CM, but even when i install my CM backup now it still boots into recovery.
holding <down> while rebooting gives me "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading".
it seems the 20b update is still present and trying to boot into stock recovery, resulting in cwm getting loaded everytime.
(cwm works fine, i can upload a zip and execute it)
greetings

i had the same, if you want to install ota updates you should have the "original" recovery.
i flashed it back to stock with LG .kdz flasher. if i remember correct flashing a backup from sd card won't slove this problem.

hm, i remember having the same problem while installing CM. there was something i did to interrupt the loop, and yes, i think the original LG suite or kdz was involved. but i should not need to reflash the original rom.. its just a flag, i should be able to clear it with sideload/zip/button combination.
[edit] maybe i wasnt clear about that: i dont need the 20b upgrade, i would love to cancel the update process, if that makes my phone boot again.

sorry but i can't help you with the flag... i solved it by reflashing but i have to admit it's quite drastic.
well..
i will reflash stock i guess.
do you remember which thread/tool/drivers you used to reflash?
i am on win7 and my PC isnt able to load fastboot nor LG mobile usb drivers.
i have them installed but get the yellow warning on both in windows hardware administration page

Easiest way to reflash stock is to force an update using the LGMobile Support Tool. Once your phone is connected (I suggest the S/W Update mode) look for the option somewhere in the upper right menu.
Edit: This will also revert to the stock recovery.

if i recall correctly, the LGMobile Support Tool tool wont recognize my phone, since i have a custom kernel, unlocked bootloader and a custom ROM.
i am trying to flash stock ROM now with kdz updater ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723 ), and if this does not work i am going through every method thats there..
total overkill for a working phone thats just too stupid to boot the right option..
@moneyvirus: thx

Not sure about this, but the S/W mode might make a difference here. No harm in trying, right?
well. i was able to install stock 20a with kdz updater and link above.
cwm is gone now ofc, but everything at least works.
in some hours i will be rooted and cwm'ed again, but well... its always the same lesson: never touch a running system.
but maybe here's the wrong place to insist on this wisdom
