Broken Led Notification light - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I have a HTC one here with a broken led notification light (it's nearly impossible to see because it's so dim!) and was wondering if there's any fix for this?

Incredible s infrared?

I don't know where to ask but does the incredible s have infrared so you can use it as a remote? I saw the infrared light up purple on my camera and wondered if its possible?

No it doesn't.
Thanks. Can it use night vision if it can see infrared? Not exactly a tech wizz here.

It can't see infrared.
Mine can. Glows purple in the camera app...

the incredible s does not have an ir emitter
yes the camera app can be used to detect ir emitters
no it doesn't have night vision.
My point was with all the devs out there can you use the light from ir for night vision? Can't use it for a remote but maybe a night vision effect.

The IR source in the phone isn't nearly powerful enough to illuminate anything, and because the camera isn't capable of switching between color and B&W it's usefulness as a night vision viewer would be limited even with an external IR illuminator.
And yes I realize you can take B&W pictures using the camera app's filters but that's not the same as being a switching CCD. A color CCD isn't nearly as sensitive to IR as a B&W CCD.
Thank you for the informative response.

[Q] Odd coloration on screen

Sometimes when my phone has been sitting in my pocket for a while and I take it out and activate the display the screen will sometimes have a blueish tint that will slowly fade away after a few seconds. Does anyone else have this issue or know if this is a precursor to something failing?

Change gamma coloration

I don't think there is an adjustable setting for that.

Where in Holics would you find gamma correction?

Alternative to the missing notification led

I was wondering if a clever dev could use the botom lights from the buttons as an alternative to a dedicated led. Since the led is only usefull with the screen locked & off, the botom button lights could serve the same purpose. The buttons themselves would not be working, only the lights.
Could this idea work?

You may try to use noLED application
Good idea, but no-one has program for it yet.

That's a kernel thing. It needs a kernel with bln (back light notification) support.

But it could be done... you're not saying no way
From what i understand this is a tricky one to develop. I will have to be patient :what:

I have used noLED but deleted it because. I don't like it.
Anyhow the idea that author suggests sounds great and very logic. I saw few apps that can turn off buttons backlight. So it can enabled via app

You should check the ButtonLed thread. Its an app that is based on the Tasker app and it's made for phones that don't have led lights but have soft led buttons. But it doesn't work with our devices, because of the kernel security / limitations. I have contacted the developer of the app and he said that our device is similar to some s2 models, where the button leds can't be on while the screen is off.
So as I said before, we need new kernel with bln option.

Backlight on home buttons don't light up

I just got my HTC one yesterday and already there's a problem with the backlight on the home buttons. I looked in the settings thinking there's we a option for them and there wasn't. Is there a fix for this?or has anyone else ran across this?

The are controlled by light sensitivity. In the dark they should light up. Try that out.
Would me turning of auto brightness or anything change That?
