[Q] Freeze OTA Firmware Updates? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Fortunate enough to have read the threads before updating my firmware before rooting! Now that I have successfully rooted, I was wondering if anyone knows of a sure-fire way of disabling or freezing the firmware update process? I am able to do this on my Note 2 by using Titanium to freeze the AT&T and Samsung update processes... I can't seem to find what process is responsible for pinging the system for firmware updates... Has anyone had any luck at this? My goal here to prevent loosing my root by accidentally updating the firmware... I'm using a factory unlocked Xperia Z1. Thanks

[Q] Updating to MJ5 without Bootloader?

Is it possible to update my phone to the MJ5 update without updating the bootloader?
My phone is still on MI9, and I'm able to use Root_de_la_Vega N900AUCUBMI9. However, I heard they addressed a few issues that affect me in the MJ5 firmware. Is it possible to upgrade to MJ5 without updating the bootloader as well... all without tripping Knox??
(PS. I've been Googling this for over a week now, and I've yet to find an answer.)

Just update to MJ5 and don't worry about the bootloader. You can still ROOT with Kingo as it has been approved by XDA now and it does not trip KNOX.

[Q] Root for 4.4.2 KitKat firmware on SM-G730W8?

I was wondering if it was possible to root the kitkat firmware (NF2) for the SM-G730W8. I'm worried that I won't be able to root it because KNOX might prevent rooting. And if i do install the firmware i won't be able to go back to 4.2.2 because of KNOX. If anyone has been able to root it on the newest firmware please tell me.
*Update* i just flashed the firmware and i was able to successfully root it using Towelroot. Unfortunately there are lag issues and the touchscreen is really glitchy when playing games like Dead Trigger 1 and 2 and MC5.
I was able to root this phone using a trial of Chimera Tool.

[Q] Safe to root 4.4.4 after starting 5.0 update process?

Well, I checked to see if at&t had 5.0 available before noticing that 4.4.4 has a confirmed process for rooting now. It sounds like it's possible to keep root while updating from 4.4.4 to 5.0. So, I'd like to do the 4.4.4 root process before updating. The only issue is at&t doesn't seem to allow you to cancel the update process once started. What are my options for canceling the update / rooting 4.4.4, and updating the OS through other means?

It sounds to me that all u did was download the update, because when it installs the phone will shutoff. So just downloading it technically has no effect on your phone. So if ur check onn att galaxy s5 xda u should be able to find what zips u need and how the process works. Muniz ri is the op of the post to root on 4.4.4. god luck

Help with restoring stock firmware?

I haven't done manual rooting for about 2 years as my last phone (Xperia XA) was completely locked down.
Before I root my G5S Plus (RetGB software channel, October security patch) I'd to make sure I can easily restore completely to stock, remove root and be able to receive OTA's.
Are there separate firmwares for the different software channels? The unroot / restore stock guides on here seem to only link one firmware. Also, what else will I need to be able to restore to stock? Does flashing the stock firmware unroot? Is locking the bootloader a separate process?
Thanks!
