sooo im stock 4.3 rooted unlocked bootloader, just updated to latest twrp.
so i just use wugs to install this zip right?
and this updates only 185mb?
Full rom or just an update?
---------- Post added at 07:04 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:55 AM ----------
THis isn't the stock rom, it's just the same Mod Edit update that fails every time I try to install it. What's the point of reposting it?

You're the same case as I am. If you don't want to loose data, just flash OTA update from recovery.

For me it was Xposed framework, once I uninstalled it worked ok. You must have changed something in system.... I had this problem on 4.3 update and had to flash full ROM (backup data etc)....
Ah, I see. I do have an audio mod on there I flashed a while back - that must be it then. I didn't think it mattered what is on there now since it's going to replace it all anyway. But It makes sense that it'll probably check the system to verify it's the correct device before updating. I'll try going back to full stock ROM tonight. Or I'll just sideload it or something.
same issue
I am having the same issue, I have now gone back to a stock rom and stock recovery it is still unlocked so I am not sure at this point how to get the ota to install.
Or unzip stock 4.3 image and flash only system.img without loosing usr data, apps etc.

the sideload is that from the nexus tool kit? Or is there something I am missing.
"E:failed to verify whole-file signature, installation aborted" - I'm getting this error when I'm trying to flash via ADB sideload in stock recovery.

Make sure that if you were Stock rooted, you are back to 100% stock, the update checks for key components.

Are you sure of the file your attempting to use.? Maybe you have an FXZ zip file, and you would need to flash with RSDLite or adb..not TWRP..double check what you are attempting..

OMGoodness.. I'm not really sure Sir..I have a XT1060 DEV..but I haven't kept up with the Moto X lately (in the past month)..So..I'm not really the one to help you with newer versions..Are you sure 4.4.3 is right for your device.?
I'd suggest do research in here (XDA) and know what is the latest..I'm assuming that you are trying to flash an OTA..but if you have a file someone has "ported" or something of that nature..go back to where you downloaded the file and research..
Even if you have an OTA zip..I'd suggest maybe know the file more, maybe it should be unzipped and run an XML file..I honestly am not familiar with the file you are attempting to use..
Maybe post a link to where you found the file and myself and others can go look at what file and its purpose..then maybe we can assist you more..Sorry I can't help you more at this time..

No, it isn't. The screenshots you uploaded CLEARLY show custom recovery. You need to flash stock recovery back before you can take any updates.
If you don't know the difference between stock and custom recovery, you aren't ready to update. You need to Read, Read, Read....

I'm trying really hard to explain it to you but you just aren't getting it....
This is what you wrote in the post you linked:
1- Return to STOCK(Mine is 4.4.2) But I did stock it to 4.4.2. OK!
2- Install the TWRP to install the SuperSU. OK, Everything's fine.
3- After it, my dev is already rooted.
OK, look at step number 2: YOU INSTALLED TWRP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When you flashed TWRP, you REPLACED stock recovery with custom recovery (TWRP).
As I've been trying to make you understand, OTAs will -----ONLY----- install if you have STOCK RECOVERY.
You will need to flash stock recovery BACK (replacing TWRP), THEN you can accept the update!!!!
Afterwards, you can flash TWRP back.
This is well documented everywhere.....you will have to do this EVERYTIME a new OTA comes out.
You can NOT accept an OTA if you have TWRP installed.
Do you understand now?

I'm convinced that you aren't even reading what I'm writing......
Let me make this easy for you:
Do this:
1. Return to Stock 4.4.2
2. Accept the OTA (DO NOT FLASH TWRP)
3. After you accept the OTA, and you are running 4.4.3, NOW you can install TWRP
YOU CANNOT ACCEPT THE OTA IF TWRP IS INSTALLED!!!!! I've told you this SO many times now.....
TWRP is your problem. You must NOT install TWRP and root (supersu) until AFTER you accept the OTA.
It has ALWAYS been like this. This is nothing new.
Please read my posts carefully. If you follow those instructions, it WILL work.........

YES, you do NOT want TWRP (or you can't accept the update).
OTA = "Over the air update" = update to 4.4.3
What method are you using to return to stock? Tell me you aren't just doing a "factory reset". How exactly are you "returning to stock"?
If you install TWRP = updates DISABLED.

I tried many.. RSDLite, Manual flashing and that one that is recommended for people with problems with "boot loop" and the first I tried two days ago that erased all my data, cache, everything..
The thing is, is that every method seems to work fine but I just don't receive the update '-'
Actually I receive that upgrade that is something that pops up for 3 seconds saying "Upgrading android, installing apps." Then my Dev initializes normal but still dealing with the 4.4.2...

I was notified of a system update on my tablet today. Got it downloaded and started the update. About a third of the way through, the little android fellow keels over, dead, with the dreaded red exclamation.... Error. Tried the update a few times, all with the same result.
Anyone else having this problem with this update? Any suggestions?

You have to flash the stock recovery back and make sure all the bloatware that came with the rom is installed and not frozen.
The best way to go about this would be probably to flash sbdag's stock rooted rom, then flash the stock recovery from Droidbasement, then manually flash the firmware which you get from Asus downloads.
Not worth the trouble IMHO....

Download the firmware from Asus, unzip it once and copy that file to the root of your internal SD. You may have to reboot for the system to find it, but with stock recovery installed it should give you a notification.
That's how I remember it, but there was a lot of trouble for users trying to flash back to stock with the 4.2/4.3 update - don't quite remember, but I think those got solved when Droidbasement provided the flashable stock recovery.

If you are using the factory image, you can do it with the stock. Haven't done it using ota image so not sure about it.
Not on the factory images site, but here on Android Authority.
If you mouse above the download button, then it will show you - it's from google.

It's just the known OTA link, not the factory image.

So you flash this with TWRP or whatever?

No. If you flash this with TWRP it will fail. This is the OTA that can be sideloaded. You have a custom recovery and a custom kernel, you cannot apply this update if you have any changes from a stock unit.

I swear I'm not being a jerk here, but you need to do some searching on how to sideload an OTA. It's a well established and very basic method of applying an update.

simply install using minimal adb !!!
In order to sideload this, the device must be running stock 5.0.1
I flashed the stock rom (5.0.1) to be able to sideload the 5.1 OTA, can I now flash a custom kernel?
Is current cf-autoroot binary still valid to gain root access?
An OTA update is an incremental update from one build to another. A factory image contains everything necessary to restore your device to stock. This isn't a factory image, and the OTA URL has already been posted in the usual places on here. Check oldblue's thread

Hey guys,
I am trying to intall a custom rom on my blu vivo xl. My worries are that i either soft-brick the phone or boot the new rom and having no signal due to no imei, or no 4G due to band change if it's even possible. I'll leave you with some reliable data:
-arch64 procesor
-5.1 stock android : BLU_V0030UU_V07_GENERIC 25-01-2016
- 3.10.65+ kernel
- Rooted with kingoroot
- Previously had xposed, but uninstalled due to random reboots.
I was looking to install aospextended rom:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/vivo-xl/development/rom-aospextended-rom-v4-1-t3592932
I'd really appreciate if you could orient me or refer me to a post with instructions, since i didn't find one. It's been some years since i don't do this back to the legendary HTC HD2 and i'm missing it btw
Thanks!
Nacho

Unfortunately most custom ROMs in this forum were based off Gionee so likely you will get no SIM. Use your stock ROM /etc/firmware folder to replace that in ROM.

Thank you for your response.
I've already got twrp installed for 5.1
So i should just install this MM based ROM i said on the post and replace /etc/firmware folder?
Or i need to install stock MM from ota first?
Thing is, i cant OTA update, it says that the system is corrupted, i even tried from twrp but no luck
I've seen that i need stock mm to be able to install most of the custom rom's in xda
Thing is i can't install any OTA update. Should i flash 5.1 stock rom on top of the modified one i'm running?
By modified i am talking about the root and xposed, which is the cause i cant OTA

Follow my steps exactly then you can do OTA to MM.
The key is to use the 8 files backup to restore stock 5.1, not the backup only includes 4 files.

Alright, ill do that. Tried with the 4 files backup last night, didn't work as you just told.
Do you have a link to the 5.1 stock recovery i should flash with sp flash tool? I can't find it anywhere. It wont work if i still have twrp installed, right?
Thanks! i really appreciate it, and great guide btw

I installed the 11 files backup and i still can't get ota. I should install the stock recovery, right? got a link for that?
Thank you in advance!
In my case I have a fully working STOCK but ROOTED Marshmallow Blu Vivo XL with working IMEI, but as soon as I wipe and install say AEX rom, I lose both IMEI functions and also get the dreaded wifi NVRAM error (but working wifi).
I also restored the etc/firmware directory to AEX but it wont help regain IMEI functionality.
MTK Engineering mode does not work on AEX because it complains not being stock rom so it closes.
For the life of me, I can't make a connection to the PC through SP Flash Tool too.
Any pointers?
TIA!

Thanks for the reply Min1968!
Yes, I know how to recover IMEI on the stock ROM and I'm currently running stock MM rooted with working IMEI.
The problem I have is that I can't run custom ROMs even if I try the etc/firmware trick you mentioned.
What is the stock TWRP partition that has the modem and IMEI? Maybe if I flash it back through TWRP once I get AEX rom up and running?
Thanks!
