I'm still kinda new to the Android platform and I need some help on this one.
I have a Galaxy Vibrant on Bell I9000m that was freezing after the "Samsung S" start up animation. I put the phone in download mode and using Odin I reinstalled the stock firmware (T959UVJFD) with (vibrant_21_stock_s1_odin_20100512.pit) on the phone. Everything appeared to go ok and Odin indicated "pass." After this was complete the phone is supposed to start a reboot process. This didn't happen, instead the battery life indicator will come on the screen for about 1 sec then the phone will reboot and show the battery indicator again. This will not stop until I unplug it. When I try to turn the phone on it will show the Samsung screen and then totally shut off. I can get it back in download mode. I tried three times with the same result.
Any suggestions?
M
Can you get into recovery (VolumeUp+Home+Power)?
If yes you could try to wipe your data-partition.
Note that after a new flash (or factory reset) the phone can take 5-10 minutes to boot.
Did you use a full firmware to flash (pda+phone+csc) or just a pda-file?
Did you use a .pit-file?
First question did you use the correct firmware for your phone ??
Your battery fully charged ???
jje
:Thanks for your replies. I can't get into recovery mode any more...I could before I used Odin. I used the pda file (which is a .tar file) + the pit file. The battery had over half charge when I did it.
Please excuse the ignorance of this question but is there :different firware for each network. So does Tmobile have specific firmware that if I put it on my Bell Mobility phone it can screw it up?
Thanks
More importantly than recovery is download mode, can you get into download mode?
Vol down + power + menu with usb disconnected and phone off.
Yes. Download mode still works. I tried reloading the software 3 times and i got the same problem each time.
Even though its a "Vibrant" its actually I9000M model. Vibrant is the american model. I9000M (bell) is the international model. So use different firmware
Seems like your trying to flash another phone's firmware.
This is a zip of the MK7 Firmware, you must unzip using 7zip or equivalent,
place the extracted .tar.md5 file where you can locate it using Odin.
Take The Gear and put into Download Mode....
( Hold The Power button, wait until watch reboots,
screen will display Samsung Rebooting, once at this screen,
click the power button continuously until it switches to the boot loader)
click the button twice to go down to Download mode,
Press and hold the power button for 3-4 seconds and let go,
the watch will boot into recovery and is ready to be placed in the cradle for restore.
Once in Download mode and watch is in cradle connect to the pc and open odin,
your watch should be displayed under the com port, if not your missing drivers for download mode.
Chose the ap spot and navigate to the .tar.md5 you downloaded from here,
no need to mess with other check boxes. Once you selected the .tar.md5
odin will check it against your gear for compatibility, once done you can hit start,
it will take time so be patient, don't allow keis or any other software to be running during this step,
these other programs could interrupt the connection and cause odin to fail.
Watch will automatically reboot and be back to stock,
you may need to power cycle the watch if it sticks on the Samsung screen,
go back to the bootloader using the above steps and choose recovery,
this allows the update to complete. it will automatically reboot, and get back
to stock pairing screen / main home screen.
ENJOY.
If my instructions are vague, use Google or other walkthrough's to help get into download mode.
This will wipe all data!
Flash at your own risk!!!
There's other posts around with links to Samsung-Updates.
Their download speeds suck and are limited and really confusing for new users.
This is the exact same thing with a lot faster download and is a straight download to the firmware.
I had to reboot device after flashing this firmware and go to recovery, recovery said applying updates and rebooted,
once I did that the watch fully booted, without this reboot the watch hangs on Samsung screen after restore.
THIS IS THE USA, CANADA, UK Build (BTU) MK7 I will not be providing support,
this is just to give people a easy link to get a odin restore file.

I have been trying to fix the random reboots that came with the SpaceX kernal for Note 5 N920C and now I cannot boot my phone.
I have tried wiping all data and clearing cache. I cannot find a stock kernel.

Your phone should now tell you that you have no operating system. And that should be why you're stuck in a bootloop. In this case you will need to install the original firmware back on your phone and start the rooting process over again. The easiest way to reinstall the original operating system is to use Samsung Smart Switch on PC.

I'm not sure where my phone is from and I need to know that on Sammobile to get the right firmware. On my warranty card under Country it says Pays, [Some Arabic writing].

If you use Samsung Smart Switch, it will ask you for the model of your phone, and the Serial number. Then it will find the right firmware for you. The way you would get to that information on your phone is to boot in download mode.
"While the phone is off, press and hold the volume down button, power button, and home button at the same time. As soon as the phone starts to boot, let go of the power button while STILL holding the volume down, and home button."
Your phone should boot into a minty greenish screen. Press the volume down button again and it should give you the SN for the phone. That should help in locating the correct firmware for your phone.
Flash my SkyHigh kernel and should boot. Will auto root again.
Link ? Search. ..

If you mean the SM number, I have that along with an IMEI and other information that came with the phone. Right now my problems seem to be:
Cannot flash any custom ROMs because I get stuck on "NAND write start!!" on ODIN. I have tried multiple ROMs, multiple USB ports and multiple versions of ODIN.
My computer drivers for my phone seem to fail after about a minute of using my phone causing my phone to be seen as an unrecognized device. I have tried re-installing the drivers many times.
When I go into smart switch it never recognizes my phone. When I plug it in on the Download Screen it just says "Connecting..." and eventually says my device is unsupported.
Okay, here is an update.
I tried initializing my phone after smart switch failed to connect to my device and after putting in a serial and model name it says that the N920C does not support initializing.

hi,
As far as i know Smart Switch does not support./work on rooted devices..?
I might be wrong, but this is what i have read in other similar threads/post in past.
Plse check, this fact to be sure, otherwise you wasting time trying to get it to work.
Good luck
post note.
Stock kernel is included in stock Rom.
If you try to flash old stock Rom it apparently won't work(re bootloader updated etc) . It has to be the correct latest stock Rom for your particular device! not just any Rom..?
I also noted it has to be Odin v 3. 10.7 ? something /i believe.
plse note
i can't really say for sure as,
My Note5 is not rooted...... yet all my other devices ..... Note 2.. 3....4 is !
O, yes i also have N920 C device (not rooted) and Smart Switch works fine.

It kind of sounds like zit is a driver problem. You said you did a full wipe of data and operating system on phone. So I wonder if it could also be the type of firmware you are trying to install? I would try to install a fresh copy of the new stuff firmware from Sam mobile or smart switch in order to make sure all the drivers are pm running properly. @wilcor I agree with you 100%. I am a little confused as to why the phone would fail when installing roms or fresh firmware??
Ok, thanks everybody I eventually got this problem sorted. I called samsung and they told me what country my device was from and after that I made sure I used ODIN 3.10.7 and the ROM for AFGHANISTAN and it installed successfully. Thank you for all your help.
so im on oreo, i decide to downgrade to bra8 to upgrade to a newer version of oreo, i odin back, but while downgrading firmware my cat drops mt laptop and interupted it, now its bricked to the error occured while upgrading software please use smart switch mergency recovery, i did that but it says my device is not support for initalzing to rstore it, im guessing samsung removed that feature completely, is there any way i can fix this!??
No problem, start the update with Odin again. You just have to press vol down + power 7 sec and put the cell phone back in download.
Vol. Down+ bixby+power, when start vol up
When using emergency recovery be sure to use capital letters for any letters in your serial number. Good luck with your soft brick.

a bit late reply but nevertheless for others who have the same problem like you and me, just solved it. so what I did: after my odin update was interrupted accidentally my phone also showed please use smart switch emergency recovery screen. downloaded smart switch but could not emergency recover (unsupported device problem - seems to me smart switch could not see my phone properly). after searching the web (that's how I found this thread ) and not finding any solutions i tried different tricks and found out that odin sees my phone but cant initialize firmware update since phone was not in download mode (after bixby+dwnload btn+pwr and pressing continue, the screen returned to please use smart switch emergency recovery screen) but I did not give in and did the following to successfully update my firmware:
1. start odin (place respective files in respective fields of your firmware), you wont be able to initialize the process while please use smart switch emergency recovery screen is shown;
2. connect your phone to odin and press bixby+dwnload btn+pwr combination the way to see options - volume down to shut down the phone (but you wont be able to shut it down it will return to that terrible screen) and press volume up to continue, after pressing the continue button you will hear that connection sound and this time you will be able to initialize the process and update your firmware.
good luck everybody on restoring your soft bricked Samsung devices (mine was unlocked note 8 (SM-N950U1).
I have a SD Galaxy note 8 (U)
Tried to update the phone recently but during the install the cable jiggled and the phone stopped updating. It's currently listing "Software Update Failed".
I tried to go into Download mode and it automatically shoots me to "Software Update Failed". Factory reset doesn't work and neither does Safe Mode.
I have odin up right now and it looks like it can see the phone, but when trying to flash the AP over it just says that it has failed.
I'm completely open to any help at all at this point to hopefully save my phone.
Have you tried an older firmware? Might be worth a shot
It wont list Download mode at all. Just says in the text on the top above software update failed "Please re-download the official system image"
Note, it will get to the part of the warning screen telling me to press volume up to goto download mode, but as soon as I do that it states Software Update Failed and the above message.
The only time the device is listed in Odin by the way is if I try to use safe mode and reopen Odin.
Fixed it.
The solution is to download the modded version of Odin and then get the latest stock firmware. Get to the screen where it says "Software Update Failed" and connect the phone to your computer. Load up the modded odin and the stock firmware and flash. You're set.
That's good to hear, have you got a link to the thread of the "Modded Odin" it'll be good to know/have, if I have that issue in the future.

Good to hear. phew.
So I suppose you were updating through Odin and the cable disconnected by mistake?

But he already said what he did. Now it's on your part to do some more searching and reading to understand what you are doing. Your phone definitely didn't brick itself.
