If you go into about phone and tap android version several times you will get a large K. Tap on that a few times and you will get the KitKat logo. Any others discovered?
This Easter eggs is well known. This has varied from version to version since way back you could click the version repeatedly and get a graphic.... Just FYI.

If you do this and then when you get to the KitKat android logo tap and hold that and you will get a mosaic of all the android versions. You may have to repeat this twice to get the mosaic. Then you can move the squares around by tapping on them.

Yea, I was aware this is nothing out of the ordinary. I just wanted to let others know about it and see if any new ones have been discovered yet.

Cool I didn't know that!:good:
Just like with other Android versions, it adds it to Daydream. It's called Dessert Case. I find it interesting that when you pull the notification bar down, it is semitransparent. I like the look and wouldn't mind having it all the time.

I was just playing around with my Nexus 7 and I came across a neat and convenient trick to dispose of a app from the app drawer that you may have mistakenly selected and you only get three options uninstall, app info or simply drop the app on the home screen of your Nexus device. Well, there's a fourth option! Simply long press a app from your home screen or app drawer. Then, fling your finger that's holding down the app down up and release! That's it! From the home screen you don't have to take a app all of the way up to the white x remove then red release delete. From the bottom or where ever that app is on your screen you want to remove or replace, just press and hold the app you want to remove, fling your finger in motion down then up release and watch it fly away off of your screen! I think this only works with Jelly Bean, but this my friend is very convenient!

I can add another cool trick: slide up from the bottom of the screen where the 3 buttons are to bring up the Google search. Neat.
Another cool trick in Jelly Bean. Settings > About Tablet/Phone > Android Version (tap repeatedly for surprise)

It shows a lockscreen-style circle for that. Kinda unnecessary, but cool. A quick swipe up from the home button works just as well.

There's an easter egg in the settings app. Go into "about tablet". Tap the version number many times. After that, press and hold the Jelly Bean.

That is actually launching Google Now. If you do not have search history turned on for your google account, you will only see a google search.
If you have history, it will show more information cards.
I'm not quite sure if you're serious or you're really just now discovering the features marketed in the presentations.

Not everyone watched the presentations. No reason to be unnecessarily mean. I thanked him since I didn't know about the trick at all and these types of threads are awesome.
couldnt do it for the life of me and figured it must be a N7 thing only at the moment. But then I re-read the directions on how to do it... derp:silly:
Thanks guys for your help hints!

I watched the presentation but only recently realised the two finger trick for expanding or reducing notification sizes!

If you long press either the back button or the multi-window button (I forget the technical name of it) and swipe up it will bring up google now as if you were holding down the home button.

Before updating to 4.2, there is a developer's tools option in Settings. Now I can't seem to find it, anyone know where is it located now? I would like to change the graphics drawing rate.

I think "Didn't bother to search" happens a lot more than "Search is down". And regardless, the specific thread about it has stayed on the first/second page for a week now.
Just tap your build version 7 times.
yay, my dad got my a 32gb for xmas! anywho I'm really liking it and the responsiveness of AOKP so far! i have to say, i had the most frustrating time rooting it though (i'm no noob to rooting anything btw), never had so much trouble. the rootkits weren't able to adb to my tablet and were giving me problems for about 3 hours. i finally said "**** it" i'll just unlock with fastboot and put twrp on it the manual way (which only took about 3 minutes).
anywho! i've been on jelly bean for a few months now on my sprint sgs3 (4.1.2), so i'm not new to jellybean at all. but, i am new to 4.2.1. is that quick settings pulldown thingy new to 4.2.1 or is that nexus 7 feature that most roms have? i find it quite annoying since i usually use my right thumb to pull down the notification bar, but often find myself not reaching far enough left to avoid pulling down the settings bar. are there ROMs that give us the option of moving those settings widgets back to the notification menu or disabling the quick settings menu? im on AOKP and haven't seen it yet.
im really looking forward to trying out all the different roms that are available!
It's new to 4.2.1. Hope you like it.

Yea, setting up the drivers for it were a *****, had a hard time on two computers at work then used Wug's toolkit and installed the drivers manually. I did have to manually reboot into fastboot to install the drivers and reboot after all the drivers were all installed, but in the end that was the best way I found to do it; had no errors and it did warn that I may have to reboot for all to work correctly.

Go to the dev section and get the true tablet ui, and flash in custom recovery. The single notification/settimgs bar will be combined again, but at the bottom.

Welcome to the N7. I personally love the double pull down. Give it some time, it'll grow in you. In FD AFR I have the CM10.1 settings on my Galaxy Nexus to behave the same way. It takes a day or two to get used to it though

Anyone knows when firmware 4.2.2 will come out for ONE? Will it get rid of the 3dots black menu bar without rooting? Possible?
I can't wait. Any official news on it? Even rumors?

i read today it might be coming in the next 2/3 weeks lets hope
The menu bar at the bottom with 3 dots has nothing to do with 4.2.2. It's because most app developers aren't following Google's directives in developing their apps. The menu key/button/bar has officially been replaced with on screen action button, found mostly on the top right corner.
You can however root your phone reassign soft keys and get rid of it. That's what I think, anyway.

Oh really? Thx. I've been thinking to root. But someone told me to wait for 4.2.2
If its the case guess rooting is my only choice.

Even including this xda forum app I'm using right now. Its not following googles guideline to upgrade the app? Why app developers are not doing it? Is it so hard for them to do it?

The main reason we aren't seeing the menu button implementation by developers in my opinion is Samsung, which seems to own the android phone market keeps putting a menu button on phones. Google would rather a phone have no hardware buttons for ui

I don't understand. Why apps have something to do with Samsung ?for example, xda forum app wasn't made or designed by Samsung right? Its got the 3 dots bar.
Samsung owners can press a physical button therefore programming a software one isn't necessary

IMO, the thing is, majority of android devs work on very stiff revenue models. They have to wisely invest their time in updating/developing their apps. I don't know how tough or easy it is to abide by the new rules, but the devs sure seem to think its not worth the extra effort; the new guidelines have been in effect for quite some time now.
And Sammy rules the android market - as in a LOT of people use Samsung-Android phones, all of which have a physical menu key; all the more reason fr devs not to invest their time in button.
So, uhm, never seen this before.
No, I had not told it to do a barrel roll, and yes Chrome displayed normally in the full window.
You must have hit the home button right as it was doing an animation (like swiping away a tab), thus it used that "screenshot" as the thumbnail

I'm 99.9% sure that I didn't, and this was after unlocking the phone - so i'd have had to have swiped and jumped (fast!) to something else and then.... It's a longshot, but probably the only explanation that makes sense. Still, I think I'd prefer to believe that kitkat plays games when I'm not looking.

Okay, that is something I may well have done, thanks!
Weird that I've never managed to do/notice this up till now. Just slightly saddened to realize that there aren't actual playful sprites inside my phone.
This is nothing new. I've seen this going all the way back to ICS/CM9 on my Nexus One.
