Hello,
I´m from Germany, so sorry for my bad english.
As long as I´m sitting at home an my Diamond lies on my Desktop the Battery works good. In Standby there is enougth power for about 2-3 Days. But for example when I´m going shopping with my Diamond (not using it) the Battery goes empty very fast. After 3 hours it is nearly empty and this can´t be normal I think?
The phone is in standby in both cases? Any ideas?
Hm, maybe it's the temperature? Not sure how hot it is there, but it may be it being in your pocket and just getting very hot.
I'm not too good with ideas.
hehe thank you, but i don´t think so... it´s deep winter in germany i think it has to do with the sensor, if i´m moving my telephone in my bag? any iusses?
Do you get full signal when at home?
Maybe there is very little signal at some of the places you go to. That can also cause the battery to drain.
well moving around would mean it change gsm connection a lot more
which would use more power but 3 hours sounds kinda wild
unless it's running gps when ever you move around
do you have the device in your pocket? if so it might be getting buttons pressed and keeps switching the screen on and off. Try carrying it in a bag and see if that helps.
Thats it... i think my GPS is turned off, how can i see, it´s really turned off?
Yes i carry it in my pocket, but its in standby mode, display off and locked...
the signal @ home is okay... same thing everywhere else... for example @ work... while my diamond lies on my desktop, everything is okay... but if a carry it around, the battery goes empty very fast.
my diamond is about 3 weeks old and i have tested 3 or 4 different roms... always the same.
(sorry for my bad englisch again, i´m german)
Don't you have any apps using the G-sensor all the time? That would explain it, because it could do something when the position changes, which happen a lot while you are walking.
I think the only Programm which uses GPS is the TomTom Navigator... But it´s always closed...
First post for me so sorry if it makes no sense,
I read on a dutch forum that cold weather drains the battery far more then warmer weather.
Don't know if it's true or not?
Cold weather does indeed drain the battery faster.
Cold makes electrical components operate more effiicently. This isnt a good thing as it means battery power drains faster. If your phone is cold, especially outside you can expect your battery to drain twice as fast. Your 10 hours standby are suddenly only 5.

but why the sudden increase? I mean I'm not having problems yet.
But I can imagine when you're working outside you're going to get issues.
And my older phones didn't make any noticable difference outside, I know the diamond has more electronics inside then my k800i from sony but when the phones in standbye all wireless apps off it shouldn't make that much difference should it?
Sry if my english isn't flawless I'm dutch and school was a long time ago
Hm, this may seem like a really really silly idea, but you could try something as like wrapping a cloth around your phone to keep it warm in your pocket/bag/etc and see how the battery life is.
Just an idea.
put it in the fridge and wait....
.... put your Diamond in the fridge and see if it drains your battery
then take your fridge outside and walk around and see if it gets worse
Without kidding: i went ice skating the last few days, took several foto's and video's and did not notice faster drain.
Hi,
just a proposal:
Have you tried f.e. with a programm like TaskManager (fdcsoft) to check whether there is some miscellanous cpu-usage?
Or maybe you can try to use the application 'nodata!' (see this forum) to first disable all not used connections and check your battery consumption afterwards with only the phone activated
Or - if its a gps problem - try to get the 'htc gps tool' (see this forum too) and check whether you gps is activated always
Hope s.th. helps (sorry for my bad english, but I'm from Germany too) - let us know
bye
Ralf
I have exactly the same problem!
I charge my diamond over night and its empty before the day is over!
I only make a few calls else its laying in my pocket locked with the ipod-like S2U2 slide thingy.
Frikin annoying
I use Nodata mms and 3g is disconected and i just bought a new bigger battery, same issue
Same problem here
I also have exactly the same problem as described by SaTanSJupp. Did somebody find a solution already?
Hi there!
I recently changed my battery with an ORIGINAL new one because I had a problem... that is still here...
Every time I turn on wifi (even with 100% of battery) my phone turns off after 2 or 3 minutes (and it seems that's because of the battery.)
Sometimes it turns off even when I'm just calling (more often when the battery is less then 20-30%).
EDITED: 30-40 seconds before it turns off the screen and the physical keyboard backlight start to flicker.
EDITED: Now it turns off EVERY time I make or receive a call after 4-5 minutes!
Exemple: Today the battery life was around 50%. I tried to turn on wifi. After 2 minutes of wifi use it turned off. I tried to turn it on but there was the flashing red led and it turned off again every time (it was like uncharged ).
Then I tried to remove the battery for a few hours, I put it back in and the battery life was the same of before the "turning off" problem, around 50%. What does it mean??
My hypothesis is that it gets excessively hot when I use wifi and even when I call... But I don't really know what that's about..
[my ROM is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=586463, the english version. I got the right RADIO, I checked yesterday]
Thanks for any suggestion!!
Fabrizio
[sorry 4 bad English]
Try this...
Check the battery contacts on the phone -- clean them with a little isopropyl alcohol, and gently pry them up a little so they make solid contact with the battery.
I'll try what you say, thanks a lot!
I just want to say (I forgot it in the first post) that the screen and even the physical keyboard backlight start to flicker 30-40 seconds before the kaiser turns off.
After prying and cleaning the battery contacts the problem isn't solved yet. I didn't use the isopropyl alcohol, I'll try it asap.
Anyway now the problem is even worse, the kaiser shuts down each call after 2 or 3 minutes! Of course if the phone is charging (via usb) NO PROBEL, even the flickering isn't there any more...
Any other possibility of fixing that? (I have no warrantee, I really hope I fix that by my self just with your help!)
btry prob
well.. find out if one of ur friends has kaiser..... exchange batteries... i.e u isert his btry into ur kaiser and ur btry in his kaiser and then try the wifi n calls from both fones..... this will precisely tel u whether it a fault in the fon or u didnt get The genuine btry.... hope this helps.... do leme knw.....
Thanks for replying but I'm using a brand new battery and the problem is still the same of the old battery, nothing changed...
perhaps the problem is really not the battery but rather the battery's charging.
the point of exchanging your battery with a friend's battery is that you will be able to test your device with a known properly charged battery.
alternatively, you can try to charge your existing battery with an external battery charging pack or by inserting your battery in a friend's phone and let it charge there.
i understand that you claim your battery is brand new, and this is leading you to conclude that it can NOT be the battery at fault...but strange things happen in this strange world!
Wow I didn't see this problem from that point of view!
The only person I know that has a Kaiser is 600km far from me...
Now I have to find a way to properly charge my battery (if it isn't already properly charged of course!)...
But just one question: if the Kaiser is not charging good the battery, why should it "think" that it's 100% charged??
welllll.... trust me..... i once had a sony ericsson k770i. the shopkeeper said that it has ORIGINAL btry.... n it wud turn off after 20 min talk. so my advise is try another btry from another shop.....
But I tried with 2 different batteries, my old one and a new one and the problem is the same. I also have to say that it's always worse then before. Now even if I turn on the camera after some minutes it turns off, ora yesterday even when I was writing a text message.
Indeed it's possible that the battery is always less charged because the Kaiser doesn't charge it. The Kaiser works good when connected with usb to may mac...
well buddy, ur last post clearly suggests a prob with btry.... say hw much had u used ur old btry before changing it
I used a battery for around one year, but it was already used (I've bought a used Kaiser, in very good conditions, on eBay).
The problem I have started with the old battery and now it keeps torturing me with the new one... Today I had my phone charged, but after 4-5 hours without using it I received a call and of course it turned off (after the flickering screen) I'm desperate...
o boy... its 200% confirmed btry prob. i m guessing, if u wud talk with charger or data cable plugged in, it wud work for hours ryt? my sincere advice is, go to a trustworthy shop n get a new battery. i m also using a new btry but it gives really gud tym on wifi, wap n calls....
Well I really think the battery I've just bought is a brand new original Battery, I checked all codes, voltage and other stuff... BTW I think I'll try to use another orignal battery (I'm sure that's original) of a friend of mine's Kaiser before I buy a new one. Here in Italy battery and gadgets prices are really high... Thanks 4 the help anyway!
PS: I really hope it's a battery problem, because if it's something else I don't really know what to do.... thanks again!
Update: I noticed that if I don't use Camera, Wifi or even make calls at all, my kaiser works for 2-3 days with no problem. I send lots of text messages, play Solitaire or view my photo album for example...
Why just more "intensive" tasks should make my phone turn off in 2-3 minute?
I don't really understand... I hope I'll find someone in my town that can fix it... BTW thank for any help
So I pick up my Droid Trubo (only for the specs) and I noticed that Verizon is claiming that you can get a whole 48 hours off your phone with out having to charge your phone within those 48 hours. makes me giggle but the battery is a 3900mAh battery. Pretty sweet, but inevitably on day one release I have seen articles and posts of people claiming that they only get no less then 9-12 hours on there turbo before they have to charge..... (Not claiming I know all there is to phones) but I had a feeling that any one complaining about the battery on there phone probably (in fact i am 110% sure) that they have no idea what exactly takes up power usage on there phone. I charge my phone up to about 100 percent, I used it consistently watching you tube video's web browsing listening to music, all that jazz, you name it and I probably did it. After a whole 25 hours(in counting) my phone sat at a woping 67% battery charge. Verizon held up there part of the bargain and this is by no means them lieing to us. So I am going to start listing off on why your phone literally dies after only 5 hours.
1.Brightness: Thats rite folks, turning your brightness to the max is a very sexy way to speed up the process of killing your battery, I highly recommend that you simply set the brightness to automatic and you should be set. Brightness kills your battery, but this is not the only thing that you probably goofed in, lets read on.
1.Wallpaper: You know, I kinda don't consider this one to be much of a big deal, but it is true non the less(still kinda not that big of deal) but have LIVE wallpaper does consume much more power vs having just a normal wallpaper background.
3. Mother fu**ing gps/location : So I noticed that every one and there grandmother, turns on the GPS/location(well, more like you hit yes to turn it on and forgot about it sense) setting on there device for Google map, or maybe you want your friends to know where your making yourself look lost with selfie picks of Facebook or instagram. Now let me tell you having the gps setting to detect your location or use it on google maps KILLS YOUR BATTERY faster then you can say "How do i get to the control panel?". Generally on your average phone your looking at (if your lucky) a solid 4-6 hours before you have to charge your phone because you have this on all the time(and probably everything else I list aswell). The GPS tracking system is always on REGARDLESS if you are or not using google maps, facebook, instagram etc. I can imagine that with turbo you would only survive for a good 10 hours before you have to charge your phone again. Make sure you go into your phone setting and turn of gps location and only use it when you need it at that time.
Mobile and Wifi usage: Now, Of course this takes up power, but I always get a kick out of watching every one have there wifi AND there mobile data active at the same time. This is very effective for killing your phone sooner, rather then later. Dont get me wrong your phone is either going to use one or the other, but its still outputting power to keep a connection, VS having it actually turned off, and having it simply notify you that there is a connection available.
Now Maybe alot of you are like "this guy does not know what he's talking about I have this on all the time and I still only get 10 hours". If you are thinking this, I recommend you take the moment to stand up take 2 steps back and punch yourself in the stomach, when your able to breath come back and go through the steps in making sure that your phone does not have all these setting turn on at ones.
Ya, ultimately this is the bread and butter list that kills peoples battery's that I see all the time (dont play yourself, you know who you are) . So I guess I will go just a little more in-depth on how I get an easy 48 hours on the phone with no sweat.
Ultimately, when I am at my house, I keep my wifi data on, with my brightness set to auto. As far as Droids turbo goes, this will be easy peasy for your phone to get to the whole day, go ahead and watch some you-tube videos, hell take a bunch of pictures while your at it, (fun fact, your video recorder is pretty niffty for draining battery) I only turn my gps location on when I need to get from point A to Point B and always remember to turn it of after I am done using it.
I want to talk about 1 more technical thing before I Wrap this up, I notice that some people say "I checked my battery today and it says that this app took up 30% of my power! WTF? I disabled it and removed it). you guys mite want to pay better attention to the battery, for example, my phone lost about a good 5% after like 1-2 hours of you-tube or something, when I looked at the battery status rite from the get go, it told me that you tube took 70% of my power usage. but mind you, your phone is telling you it took up 70% of power in the 5% battery period. some people don't pay close attention to these details so when they go on there battery status at the end of the day they do back-flips for days on the fact that there app or (my favorite) screen took up so much power on there phones.
Ya my guide is not the best, just posting this out there to hopefully get this concept through to some people. I am just your average power user, with a nice phone, and a ton of trig homework to catch up on, feel free to ask me any question, I mite go and post this in the general/Q & A threads.
Just got done proof reading, If things are still terrible, I recommend you kill it with fire, and hyperventilate until your amazon prime order of frozen yogurt arrives at the back of your basement step.
I can't understand why people are *****ing about battery life. I've now had my phone on for it's first 24 hours and i just hit 20%. It goes without saying that this is under heavy usage as I've barely taken my hands off the device.

I fail to see why you would think I am angry, Do me a favor, clip your nail's and then clip your toe nails, when your done, go have a square meal, take a shower, and come back and read my thread, (make sure you tweet to your friends on the things that you are doing as well, this is important,DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP).
Why did you post this twice? It already has 4 pages of replies in the general section.

So I pulled my Turbo off charge yesterday at 0530 and when I charged it at bed time (after P-burgh beat the crap out of B-more), I still had 35%. I use the crap out of my phone... it's acceptable to me.
Read that our watch is still the best, makes it a real shame you can not buy it anymore.
Get mixed feelings with Wear OS devices, this forum is dead what does that say about the popularity of the devices, and you can not buy the device.
Yet I seen articles saying this segment is increasing demand is increasing.
People the own them generally love them.
I think half the reason is you get "experts" saying they see no point. Having a smartphone in your pocket is just as convenient as having a watch on your wrist. Tell them get a vibration I glance at my watch and decide to answer later, they prefer to have their devices making noises "annoying anybody around them", fishing out their device just to find out the got a new SPAM email.
When will we see something new ?
LG-Sport need to be charged 3 times at day, so not usable. 8% by hour with just BT and always ON, a minimum for a watch.......

Yes tried. Little better but still about 6% by hour. Not usable if I do use with black screen 99% of the time. Other like Gear S3 can last 2 days with always ON.

Is your phone connected to a corporate WiFi most of the day? My phone is and it makes my watch drain faster. I'm guessing it's because my watch can't connect to Google servers while the phone is on corporate WiFi therefore it's constantly timing out and the watch doesn't sleep properly.
Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk
Phone is on home wifi and all apps on watch had no issue with internet connection : weather, keep, playstore. It i just the wacth drain very high the batt, wifi on watch is disabled. If you use for example the watch for 10s you lost 1% of batt just with the watch screen. So nice if you do not use the watch but it is not the use case of a smartwatch.
My Watch Sport has been rock solid. I get a day and a half battery life out of it. For what all it does, I would say that's pretty good. All I want is for it to last the day anyway, and it more than does that.
Hi everyone.
Just wanted the community's opinion on what your thoughts are about the AOD.
How many of you use it regularly? And those that do, what is your preferred setting - Always on (+/- scheduled) or Tap to Show for 10 seconds? What has been your experience with battery life and overall usability? Any tips or tricks? Any downsides?
Those who don't use AOD, could you please post your reasons, along with any experience with battery drain or screen burn in or other issues.
I'd like to use AOD (on the always on setting), but am not very sure what it costs in term of battery or screen life. The former is a non-issue for me personally but if it's going to affect screen life or quality, I may hesitate a little. I tried the tap to wake for 10 seconds thing but it seems to beat the purpose as I can just as easily go to the lockscreen with a double tap and neccessitating user-interaction negates any real benefit of an always-on feature.
My current settings are:
AOD Always on (scheduled from 7am to 10pm)
FIngerprint reader always on (so I can go directly from AOD to Homescreen without having to go through the lockscreen)
Fingerprint icon set to tap-to-show (just as a hint if i ever miss hitting the correct position when trying to unlock)
Your thoughts and suggestions are most welcome.
I only use AOD via AODNotify...that should have been an option in the poll.
I use a Tasker profile to turn AOD on (always) when a message arrives and revert back to tap to show when message is cleared.
I keep it on all the time, really helpful and doesn't seem to drain too much battery.
Btw does anyone know if it's possible to add weather info to the S21Us AOD?
One of the few things I still miss from my P4XL..
I don't use it drains a lot of battery
I use to always have it active on my 10+ but it got to be annoying. Tap on is fine.
I don't care to be informed every bloody second... that ain't no way to live.

I like to keep the setting to always on with fingerprint always enabled showing thumbprint on screen always .
What i have noticed is the aod doesnt turn off when the phone is in pocket or lying upside down.
That would save so much battery.
AOD used to turn off automatically in my s9plus when the phone was in pocket .
May be this feature is disabled due to lack of active proximity sensor

The 10+ has a proximity sensor and AOD always remains on if set to. The face down off be nice.
Maybe it caused issues in the past. Samsung is sort of hit or miss though.
I have yet to use the fingerprint sensor, lol don't even know if it works.
Last thing I want is to get locked out of a device.
As soon as you set an access password this can happen and through no fault of your own. A hardware failure or glitch can trigger it. Had no password been set the setting wouldn't be enforced. I've gotten locked out of a PC bios like that, never again.

Does the fingerprint icon shift around like the clock or battery percentage (it has very little room to move around though)?
I hope it does, otherwise it'll land up causing screen burn if it's in the same position with the same pattern all the time. Have you noticed this?

Probably shifts it over a few pixels but in bright light over time it will cause uneven aging.

According to your battery stats, how much drain is attributed to the AOD? Could you post a screenshot at the end of a day please?
I don't know how much drain is attributed to the AOD. As soon as I get the newest Samsung I turn it in and crank it up before I literally do anything else. I keep every setting on ALL the time (Bluetooth, wifi, nfc, etc). The battery gets me through a regular day. I'll try and post a screen shot. Today I took it off the charger 3 hours ago and I haven't stopped using the phone. I'm sitting at 85%.

Cycle the battery between 35-65% if you can (and then raise both those numbers slowly over time) or else you will fry your battery fast.
If you're just going to buy a new phone in 2 years, then, don't bother with what I said.
