[Q] Boot PROBLEM - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hello people!
I have a problem. I can't root my phone.
I tried like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7P8RoIT8uDk
and like this:
http://theunlockr.com/2013/01/14/how-to-root-the-lg-optimus-4x-hd/
In both examples when I root my phone it should be installed supersu aplication after rooting, but it doesnt install.
It seem like some sort of protection is keeping him to root (an to install supersu app).
Anybody knows where is the problem?

your 1st way is for 4.1.2 and is working and the 2nd is for 4.0.3 and is working :good:
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Also u can try the in forum ways which are the same. if u search for optimus 4x root u will get the old way in search results 1st page and the all in one toolkit in 2nd page.
Another way is to check the frequently asked questions guide , in here , in help section ,which was made by our beloved steppenwolf so people dont need to search...........

4. is there other way to make the battery last longer?

THANKS anyone who will give me the answer
@yodaryll94
hi.
Here's "How to Root ASUS Zenfone 4" (I don't know in case device can be unrooted after rooted from method from the link).
1. is it easy to root z4?
-- Yes, In case you read(know what you are doing) and follow carefully. In short, not impossible.
2. like no problem in rooting my phone?
-- I don't think any dev take responsibility for any type of device damage after following his/her instructions. But mostly damages not happen. so always make sure by reading comments, possible that someone have replied success message.
3. once i root my z4, is there a recommended bloatware list i can freeze?
-- "Recommended", yep maybe in case someone have made list. but in simple, things you don't use and are not part of official firmware and by removing them it does not effect device OS. then it's fine to stop them or lock them from being loading in startup/boot or completely uninstalling them. there are apps to make this work easy. (i'm not recommending anything, just sharing for idea.)
4. is there other way to make the battery last longer?
-- Yes. there are threads on this platform.
5. and when will kitkat upgrade available to zenfone 4?
-- I don't know in case there will be Official upgrades or not. But maybe there are Custom ROMs on internet.
6. any unrooting guide here?
-- already answered. Other than last answer regarding this question, there are ways to unroot device with different tools type. but not sure about method of which i posted link above.
i just want to upgrade first my z4 before i root it.
-- I think there is option for upgrade/update in Phone setting "About phone" and in case upgrade/update is available then it will be Official.
Advice: Do not try anything on your device Until you know what you are doing. always make full Backup of your device before doing stuff like "Root/CWM(Custom Recovery/Custom ROM). don't take my answers as perfect, make more search, wait for more replies.... until you get enough information and are sure that you understood well, what you learned etc....
hope, answers helped you a little.

[Q] Rooting S3 LTE I9305

Hi all,
sorry if this question has been asked to death, but I've looked at the majority of guides I can find both here and elsewhere, and some of the information seems contradictory and I want to avoid bricking my device.
As of 2015, how can I root the I9305?
The phone is running Android 4.3.
A couple of people have said Knox was an issue, but I've checked on the phone, and when I go into the Knox app from my app drawer, it gives me a screen asking me to install it, and nothing else, so I'm not too sure if that would be a problem, although I'd rather be safe than sorry.
Again, sorry if this has been asked before, and thanks for any help!
Bumping..
Can anyone just confirm whether the Chainfire method still works, or am I better off going with the Unified android toolkit method?
First you should upgrade to 4.4.4.
For me cf-auto-root-m3-m3zh-gti9305.zip rooting method worked well. Uploaded it with Odin3-v3.07.exe.
Update supersu to get past Knox.
I had issues with cwm so use twrp instead.

It didn't really leave SuperSU on it because it's telling you the binary is not on there and that you need to install it yourself... If this is your first time trying to root the phone I seriously suggest you go search the forums so you don't do something wrong... You should be unlocking your bootloader first and then installing recovery and SuperSU then making a backup in your newly installed recovery and THEN you can install roms/kernels... And you need a computer to do this!!

Guide to Root without Pc

Hello,
I'm buying much devices, test it and sell it.
But I like the zuk z1 very much (SOT is awesome)
So I search for a possibility to root the device,
Without going to the pc (adb method or smth) or just lazy like me.
Setup:
New z1 / 3AJ Firmware
Download kingroot Click me
Guide:
Download kingroot and open it,
Follow the instructions. U should be rooted.
Proof in the attachment, I hope it works for u all.
Bugs:
Some apps doesn't work. Better battery stats is one who don't work.
Edit:
BBS worked! , need two reboots to get it to work.
Maybe more, report if u try this method.
Just wait for CyanogenMod, no MS-Apps, no Bing, no 1 million Google Apps, Root just one click...
Hm.
U can freeze or de-install all that ****ty apps. ^^
Won't rooting stop the software updates which it clearly needs? That's what's stopping me atm
You can also get Supersume at the plays store to get rid of KingRoot, and put in CF Supersu.

I recall seeing that link a while back, but I could not find it, but I heard about Supersume, so I went that route instead.
I have ordered my Zuk Z1 on Thursday. I hope it will arrive until Tuesday. So I'm orientating already about how to root and so on. I don't see why you should root with Kingroot as you don't get updates from Cyanogen anymore when you have rooted the phone. It's a lot easier to unlock bootloader, flash TWRP and than flash SuperSu in my opinion, isn't it? Or do I miss something?
As far as I know, the problem is not Kingroot, but rather that in process of rooting the system partition is changed to read and write (r/w). Now every time the ota update script is running, they check if the that is the case and if so won't install the ota.
Just btw. I read in an other post here, that SuperSU replaces some files and that even if you should unroot, they still change them back, which also prohibits the OTA update script from running.
Which ever way you root and whatever recovery you have installed, you can still sideload the the updates, without loosing any of your data.
Download the "...ham-signed.zip" from this link
Here is the link to the post about the OTA files:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zuk-z1/development/official-ota-update-links-ota-updating-t3226990
And give Breadcrust and Radii a thanks next time you see one of their posts
P.S.: I have no clue of any of these things/ I am in no way a developer, it's just what I have found out so far, what it comes down to...

Magisk How To Install Page Does Not Help At All

this is mosty a copy and past cuz i didnt find this part of the forums when i had to remake my acc. if u watch the video u'll see what i did and what i should cuz the how-to for install magisk is broken to say the least
i have a sony xperia z3v and before u ask yes i did follow when was on the xda but NOTHING works as u see in this video here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jaga6MUcTdc&feature=youtu.be.
so first thing i need is a Custom Recovery. so i follow what that page here - https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-flash-install-custom-recovery/ says...
first thing it is say i need Android SDK but never once talks about needing it ONE TIME.
2nd, both links given on that page for the custom recoverys 404! - https://imgur.com/bV9egdH
so what do i do next? i follow whats given and BOTH SITE R DEAD! also that page doesnt ONCE going into how to set up a custom recovery at all.
how is that u guys can help me out when it comes to flashing my sony xperia z3v back to stock after i F-ed up on a root and yet not have a set by set for geting Magisk to work install and work on your phone?
You don't need a custom recovery to install Magisk. I'm not gonna sit and watch some video about what you have and haven't done, so I'm not sure what how-to you've been following.
But, I can tell you what instructions you should be following (the official Magisk docs):

yes u do need a custom recovery as said on this page here - https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-install-magisk/
"What You’ll Need:
A device running Android 4.2+
Custom Recovery (how to install)
We’ll be using TWRP in this guide"
i have the magisk manager already install as is my phone it rooted as u can see in this SS from the phone here - https://imgur.com/a/Kq1EChq but as u see magisk has a red X since its not installed so i go to install it but it give a .zip so i use that and it errors out EVERY ****ING TIME as see here - https://imgur.com/a/VyAslvt
if u toke a few mins of your day to watching the video instead of being a ass and commenting that knowning full well u could have watched the video to see i did everthing that the pages sad u wouldnt be most the comment u just did. u just make yours look like a ass. i want ppl the help me not say "u dont need a custom recovery" when the page on the how to install SAYS U ****ING NEED ONE.
No need to swear or scream at me... I am actually trying to help.
I did not need to watch that video (and didn't feel like spending 12 minutes doing it, would have been better to just link that how-to from the start), since from your post I knew you had not been following the official Magisk docs (that I linked you). If you took a moment to read those you would have seen that you don't need a custom recovery to install Magisk (it can be useful, but you don't need one).
The guide you've been following is outdated (but unfortunately doesn't have a date, so that's hard to know). Take a look at the link I posted above and see if you can figure things out from there.
If you need further help it's just too ask (but without the swearing and screaming, please). It's also possible that you can find some information in my Magisk guide:
https://didgeridoohan.com/magisk/HomePage
You might run into some troubles since you're already rooted with some other root solution, but there's a section about that as well in my guide (if you're using a systemless root that is):

The instructions by @topjohnwu are pretty complete... They do assume that you are somewhat familiar with things like fastboot, but that is information that can easily be found by searching the big ol' interwebz.
Using a custom recovery is one of the ways of installing Magisk. If this is the route you really want to go I suggest you take a look in your device's forum here on XDA:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/z3
That's usually a good first step since you'll likely find others discussing the same device specific topics.
But if you take a look again in the linked docs, you'll find that you can also use something called boot image patching (which doesn't require a custom recovery at all):
https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#boot-image-patching
Rooting and tinkering with your device does require a certain level of knowledge about what you're doing. If you can't follow/understand the instructions available there's a good chance you might mess up your device. If you have your data backed up somewhere off the phone (which you should always have when playing with this stuff) you should be good since a complete and catastrophic failure is very unlikely. It's really annoying to have to set everything up from scratch though...
But if you take a look again in the linked docs said:

You'll need the boot image that corresponds to your currently installed firmware/ROM. If that is the firmware you have, then that should work.
You'll need to install the Manager again so that it can patch the image.
A small warning as you progress further: I've seen reports of old Sony devices having issues installing Magisk. Therefore it might be a good idea to visit the Z3 forums (linked in my previous post) and see if there's any information available on this before you continue. Doing proper research before committing always helps in the long run.

No. If you want to install Magisk you should not install any other root solution.
Install the Manager.
Patch the boot image.
Flash the patched boot image to your device.
Those are the basics...

ok now im lost again. to do date dumps for Uta-Macross i need a rooted phone so i can pull the files without windows again tard and saying "unknow error" when i go to copy the files from my phone. but to play this game i need to hide the root from Uta-Macross so i need to use Magisk. is Masgisk a root itself? im really lost again
Magisk provides a way to do systemless modifications to your device, it is a root solution in itself, and it has the ability to hide itself and it's components from most apps and services that look for a rooted or modded device.
This is kind of the basics, so I reallly suggest you do more research before continuing. The best source for information is the Magisk GitHub page:
https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk
Start there, take a look at the readme and the documentation available and continue searching for whatever other information you might need.
I'm not going to be available for further assistance for the next 8 to 9 hours (I hope, but that's entierly up to my little one). G'night.
nothing i did worked. the .zip fail or the D6708_23.4.B.0.319_1288-1477_R30C.ftf file in the .zip witch in the rom from the phone, it will ALWAYS say failed, unsupported/unknow image format.
Morning. Like I posted previously, old (and new) Sony devices have been known to have issues installing Magisk. Search your device's forum for Magisk related posts and you'll likely find the info you need.
Good luck.
