Hi
I have baseband version i9000XWJW1 (rooted) and have been trying to install CWM to no avail. I have tried Rom Manager and flashed various similar CR-Root files eg JVT JVZ JW4 using odin but they all fail. I haven't been able to find a CWM version to match my baseband version. Does anyone have any suggestion on a way to install CM11 with this problem.
Thanks

FYI Rom's are not based on baseband version but on their Build number anyway, you can follow this guide to update to CM 11 by first flashing the gingerbread stock ROM after you have backed up everything you need first. as per the guide, going up the ladder step by step.

This should be a good starting point....
I can't post the link but Google "root xxjvq" and click on the first link. You might need to upgrade to 2.3.4 first, in which case you can click the link on that page for that tutorial.
Follow each step and by the end you should have recovery installed. Once you have recovery, everything else is a walk in the park. All you need from then on is to download a custom ROM (I highly recommend you go for SlimBean) put it on your phone's sd card and flash it through recovery WHILE FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS from the SlimRoms website. Google "slimroms."
Happy rooting!
Ill get back to you after i try it out...
Thanks

Hi! I have a Galaxy S with 2.3.6 baseband version I9000BUJV5 and build number gingerbread.BUJVI and I would like to install the CyanogenMod 11 ROM on it, but I cannot find the CF-root for this version anywhere. I have seen posts from another with the same version but it is unclear to me where or if they found the CF-root for this specific model.
I have looked in all the download locations that I have seen suggested with no luck.
Can someone please point me to the specific CF-root file for my phone? Or, am I amble to use a different one?
I have never rooted an Android before so any other hints would be most appreciated.
Cheers

Yes, you don't need to use a specific CF root when you flash a semaphore Gingerbread kernel, it will give you root and CWM recovery...so go here read the section on How to Flash a kernel and just download latest Semaphore Gingerbread kernel ( link inside) and you are good to go

First, your Phone Model is?
Second your ROM Build is ? is it JPJVC / JXJV6 /OJPJV7/
Third How did you try flashing CWM?
These details are important for memebers to help you accurately. anyway, just look at this guide and see what you did was similar or you can flash the European JPU 2.3.6 ROM on your device, after flashing the CWM, flash a middle eastern Modem if the reception is not too good.

well, you have to give more details on HOW ( step by step) you did and didn't work?
already gave you link on how to do it, so try that way and flash JPU

well, it can happen because, you have a version 2.3.4 ROM, and you are flashing which CWM Kernel on it? if you use 2.3.6 kernel it may not boot, so you have to change ROM and kernel too at the Same time to 2.3.6
Did you try Flashing the JVU ROM and attached kernel for it? as given in the gingerbread upgrade guide?

Look here or i9000B Roms :- here & here or here for kernel with CWM to flash
For Normal Flash procedure look here You only follow the procedure with the ROM's meant for i9000B, do not use other ROM's meant for other devices But some ROM's like Helly Bean will work on both i9000 and i9000B

JM1 does not have CF root, as it is the earliest out of the box ROM (be careful, it will not have download or recovery modes too) , you should use KIES to update it to Gingerbread 2.3.6, than you can root with CF, semaphore or framaroot easily.
