Gear charging cradle NFC - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Hi all, I just wanted to inform you that you can actually WRITE to the charging cradles NFC tag. Cool, right? and to revert it back to just opening the gear manager app, just download an app called "Gear Tag Writer" which will rewrite the bluetooth address to the cradle. Have fun although i do not know how many bytes it holds

looking to get a spare cradle,
any further use of writing tag to the cradle? otherwise i will just buy knock off cradle from china for US7, i dont think it will come with nfc
original is $21-24 ouch...

Targus Universal Wireless Keyboard & XDA

There is a short review of the Targus Universal Wireless Keyboard on Geekzone . The unit works with either PocketPCs or PalmOS PDAs via the IR port. The article does not answer the number one question I have though: "Does it work with the XDA?"
Note the second picture in the article; Notice (1) the mouse, and (2) the adjustable IR xceiver. The built-in mouse seems pretty neat -- I don't know how useful it actually is, but if it eliminates the need to use the stylus when using the keyboard, that could be huge! Also, I would think that having an adjustable IR xceiver (2) would make IR operation with the XDA better because of the odd placement of the XDA's IR port.
This unit is $79.95 at my local Best Buy, and $49.95 with free shipping from Amazon.
Can anyone comment on the operation of this device with the XDA?
Donovan.
The keyboard is excellent. Mouse works great...lets you move around on the screen and click with a mouse pointer. Keyboard is nice and full sized so easy to type on. The arm does move to adjust to just above the IR port. Very responsive you would never know it was a IR keyboard.
I had a pocketop and sorry - it was just junk not to mention the driver for the XDA. Im running 2003 and love the keyboard. No problems at all. GO FOR IT.
Thx drj. This is just the feedback I was hoping to receive. I'm picking up one on my way home from work!
one thing I shoud mention. Go to Targus.com and download the latest driver for the Pocketpc.com Think the CD version is out of date.
Thx drj. I just spent an hour getting acclimated to my new Targus Universal Wireless keyboard. You are absolutely on point! This unit is amazing. The combination of near-full-size keyboard, "mouse" and function keys really enhances the PocketPC user experience. Even though I am not seeking it, this is very close to a desktop experience; what I am looking for is an accessory that will allow rapid text entry when I need to do a lot of it. I think I've found it. Thx for your input, it's much appreciated.
Donovan.
I wonder why at Amazon, there are only negative reports!! Is it as good as you guys say or should I believe the reports?
Targus has no driver for the XDA. Will the other drivers of the units offered, work with the XDA?
If somebody knows pls. reply.
THX
Gear
i just installed the pocket pc 2002 driver / ipaq
and it works great
what i DONT like about is... my ppc has the extended battery, and its too thick for that little hook to hold it.
what it needs is an angled mirror! like i saw on some other design... so that way, even if the IR handle DONT reach it, it will still reflect off the mirror.
but, its a wonderfull product, as close to a full size keyboard as u can get!
There is a driver for O2 XDA. You have to download it off targus.com.
It works great...no conflicts.
Well lets just say I bought a pocketop and it was JUNK. When they released the so called driver for the XDA it was very flakey, I had to hard reset my device to get it back to normal. If they fixed their drivers then maybe it would be an OK input solution. (not great though) But they have 3rd party contractors coding their drivers so no one on staff.
The Targus among other things has an adjustable arm that you move to just over your IR port. As I said have it running on my XDA and WM 2003 and no problems. I do love this keyboard and can take it with me when the XDA2 is here!

What about a sync cable?
Can you have this keyboard working with the device ands till have it attached to a sync/charge cable?
the problem with my current keybaord is I constantly plug it and unplug it in order to transfer test apps over etc.
..Chuck..
well.. with This particular model, yes!
its IR... the pda never have to physicaly connect to nothing!
infact... if u lay them both on a desk... it can be up to 2 feet away from the keyboard.. provided u have the IR transmitter and IR receiver on the pda facing each other.
thats why i was suggesting the mirror thingie... or maybe a bottle of scotch might act like a prizm and reflect the IR in all directions

My A7 Accessories......Case, Bluetooth, GPS

Ok, 1st here is the case I got on Buy.com It is Neoprene outside, soft leather on the inside. It says USAGear on the bottom outer corner.
I like the case, but it is just a touch small.
You should be able to see by the pics that the upper corners just barely stick out of the edge.
It does a great job of protecting, but I opened the door to my van once and it slid off the seat and hit the ground - the corner of the cast hit first (top edge of the A7) and the A7 corner hit 2nd. Left a nasty concrete mark on the A7 - Really ticked me off.
Trying to find a little larger case with a keyboard....
Pics....

The pics are large to make it easier to see what it is like.
I will reply to this with other accessories.
Nice case! I've been looking for one for mine
Bluetooth dongle ....
Ok, here are the bluetooth dongles I bought on eBay. They plug in to any USB, worked perfectly on a Dell laptop with XP and an Asus laptop with Win-7. No extra drivers needed.
After installation, I just paired the A7 with the laptop. Then when browsing files on computer using Windows Explorer, you can right click a file and "send to". Choose the A7 and it sends quickly and painlessly!!
Great deal! Only $2.50 each and free shipping.

GPS for A7
Here is the GPS receiver I bought on eBay. It is Bluetooth, paired with the A7 with no problem, worked fine.
I used bluetooth gps provider to turn the gps on and off. It is free on the market place.
I used GPS Status to verify the GPS functions. Worked great.
I need a good GPS program to use that has maps etc. and will work WITHOUT PHONE. Most of the programs only work if u use the phone function on the phone. A7 don't have that.
It cost me $40 on eBay.
Here is the link for the GPS:
http://www.holux.com/JCore/en/products/products_content.jsp?pno=227
and here is the Holux link:
http://www.holux.com/JCore/en/home/index.jsp
I wanted the 1200E, but won the 1200 on ebay. It works fine.
Anyone know of a good GPS software that has maps but doesn't need 3g or phone to work?
Do you know what chip is inside the gps receiver..
Mr.Pete2u,
Thanks for the information about the dongle. I just purchased on E-bay.
I do not see the GPS receiver that you mentioned. I really want to have that option for my tablet.
Is there a link?
Thank you so much for sharing this information.
Diania
I edited the gps post and added the links.

I'll check out copilot live. Most of the programs that are "live" or similar i found need the phone to work. They use google maps and you need an ongoing data connection while driving - not a good option since the phone is left out of the A7.
GPS for A7
I got my bluetooth GPS receiver working with both Mapdroyd and Maps in my pocket. I have only been able to check my static position so far, but it was found quite quickly. Not sure how it will perform on the move.
These apps are available on one of the markets, not sure which one I got them from. Getjar, slideMe or the Appstore.
What I would like to try next is create a route, import to the map program for the gps to follow. Any ideas?
Also, anyone been able to mount the a7 in a vehicle?
Mrpete2u,
Thanks for adding the information.
Does this configuration work to give the map of where you are at that time? Are you tethering it to your cell phone via the Bluetooth dongle?
Regarding co-pilot, will that work without a tether to a cell phone? Thanks,
Diania
acid123,MrPete2u,
Are there differences in the two GPS systems other than one offers USB and Bluetooth?
Thanks,
Diania
How can you access it? It's
not available to me on the market...
CoPilot Live
The only version of CoPilot that I could find was the North Amaerica version on Amazon Appstore. Nothing shows up on Market. It was $19.99 and it works great with a Qstarz 818XT GPS receiver and BlueGPS.
Thanks, I'll check it out.
Hey there anyone,
I notice the elocity has a docking port... For what? I cannot find anything to dock it with.

HTC Cable to launch car mode? Any suggestions where I can get?

Hi All,
As the title says I am looking for a cable to launch HTC Car mode without me building it up. Does anyone know where I can get one? I can't seem to find anything on eBay (not sure what I should search for lol) and I have found this:
https://ibolt.co/car-docks/smartphone-mounts/htc-one/xprodock-htc#features
But I don't want to buy the whole car dock because I already have one.
Any suggestions?
NFC tag with car mode?

[Q]Cannot Connect Please Make Sure Correct Charging Dock Is Connected[REQ][SOLVED]???

Is there a way to by pass this, who would connect their galaxy gear while it's charging isn't the idea to connect it while it is off the dock, would look clunky and you'd be limited to space by the usb cable adding a leash to your wrist...
It pairs and everything downloaded the 11 updates and what not and now I'm prompted by this stupid popup. The seller sent me a generic dock that doesn't even snap around the watch instead it has 2 pegs and a button that ya press to release the pegs and take the watch out of the dock.
Do I need to get an official sammy dock in order to start using this damn thing? Really! LoL SMH!!
_
Also FYI, as my signature states I'm on a T-Mobile Note Edge (N915T) Hyperdrive KitKat 4.4.4 and got the Samsung Gear Manager downloaded the the Galaxy App Store, just pisses me off that after waiting a week to find out now I've gotta wait even longer in order to use it possibly.
Okay a lil step further keeps coming up with incorrect pin error now.
Okay finally somehow got it to connect after turning bluetooth off a few times.
Solved...
But for the life of me I can't find location settings in Samsung Gear Manager.
How do I get to that?
Damnit all if this isn't ridiculous as heck...
Tried flashing TWRP in Odin since I'm on 4.2.2 and then it flashed and then while trying to get into recovery I entered it successfully no TWRP though and it reset my gear and now I'm having to fight tooth and nail to get it successfully pair again and what happens next phone says its successfully pair in gear manager but the watch still shows the device setup pairing screen.
Hell if this doesn't make me want the Rufus Cuff even more. I've never seen such complicated shiet!!
Yay more failed to connect messages and unable pair due to incorrect pin messages.
Bout ready to ram this straight up samsungs arsehole!

Android Auto with Samsung Dex

I'm installing an Alpine ILX-W650 for Android Auto in my car next week, and noticed it requires simultaneous Bluetooth and USB connection to the phone. I want an easy way to dock my S10 each time I get into my car, something that's quick, easy, secure, looks nice, won't wear down the type C port on my phone, and charge faster than the 1A provided by the Alpine unit.
If I have to custom fabricate a docking cradle that fits just right in my MK6 GTI, I will, but just want to find the best solution. I have a Baseus auto clamping vent mount with the IR detector and Qi fast charging, and could try affixing a magnetic charging+data capable cable to that so the cable is in place to lock onto my phone's port automatically using the magnetic attraction, but have no idea if that will work or not. I read in one forum that someone was able to wirelessly charge their phone while it's plugged in for Android Auto, anyone know if that will work for the S10? My magnetic cables are the Wsken X1 models, I have no idea if they'll work and how reliable a connection they will provide, anyone try something similar?
Another option I'm considering is using the Samsung Dex Pad as a docking station, and mounting the phone horizontally since I will be controlling everything from my voice and Alpine's touchscreen while driving, and won't need to really do anything with my phone. I asked Samsung if it will work, and they said they've never tested it, suggested that I just try it and find out. I don't want to buy the Dex Pad if it's not going to work, has anyone tested that so I don't have to? Probably will anyway, but it from a place with a good return policy, but am hoping someone out there has thought of this and can enlighten me on what to expect.
Thanks!

Hello, I have a 04 Audi A4 with a 13” screen and a Dex pad under my arm rest. Out of sight and protected. I love it! My monitor lets me connect and control my phone via touch screen. Torque app works well on a 13” screen. I also have a dell d10u that I use for tuning while my main unit is my s10. I have enabled developer mode on my Dex and the use "Dex Max" App, It helps out as well.

Id be interested in this too. Can you expand a little on your setup? I'm looking to do the same with adding a larger LCD while maintaining touch-functionality via android. I'm wanting to piece together a 10-13" LCD along with a capacitive usb overlay but haven't verified that the touch would work via android along with my CarPC.
As for docking, I've been using a cheap $8 Ebay USB hub with success in both DeX and AA in my setup.
Hope theses pic are visible. I will have to get my other phone to display my setup with Dex running.
Forgot one.
Not the cleanest installation, not the worst.
My high mileage e85 Audi A4. Sorta a "beater with a heater".
Here are some pictures, the few are with screen mirroring with the aid of seconscreen app, overlay app and a few others. The rest are in Dex mode which yelids a better picture however apps don't auto start in full screen, while driving it can be somewhat cumbersome.
Galaxy s10
Sorry, pictures seem to be upside down.
