Notification count on Home Screen - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Hey guys
Loving the Galaxy Gear, but one thing I am really missing. Is it possible to have a notification count on the Home Screen? Doesn't even have to be in detail.

The stock notification app has an unread count? Is that what you mean?

I agree it'd be good to see the notification count at the flick of the wrist,as well as other info that can be customised, such as phone battery status etc

Yes, exactly that, but instead of having to scroll 1 screen to the right it would be nice to have it on the home screen in a corner or something.

Anyone have any luck doing this? I've tried a number of widgets... Elixir 2 widget, Notifyer widget, etc... None will work. Wonder if there's a way to use the Touchwiz notification widget with the Null ROM.

Using autoremote, tasker, zooper. It is possible (count sent from phone to widget on watch). Not sure how easy it would be to get the counts straight out of the notification app though

Its going to be difficult, the notifications I believe are stored on the phone rather then the gear..
Code:
<uses-permission android:name="com.samsung.appcessory.NotiConsumerService.ui.HistoryDBProvider.Permission.READ" />
<uses-permission android:name="com.samsung.appcessory.NotiConsumerService.ui.NotificationSyncDBProvider.Permission.READ" />
<uses-permission android:name="com.samsung.appcessory.NotiConsumerService.ui.NotificationSyncDBProvider.Permission.WRITE" />

I found another workaround to get SMS counts on the homescreen. I setup Tablet Talk, then installed Notifyer Unread Count. Using Notifyer, you can create a homescreen widget for Tablet Talk, and it will display a SMS count on the icon. :good:
I put the icon in my dock. I also disabled the SMS popup in Tablet Talk (I think you have to do this, or the popup will make the widget think the SMS has been read) Also, there's problems with Tablet Talk force closing if you try to launch it directly by pressing the widget, so I have another normal shortcut assigned to open Tablet Talk.

LED for notification

My wife just got a Droid 4 yesterday (5 Android device family!) and she is saying that the LED is not lighting when I text her. I am not familiar with Motorola phones. Does it have an LED, and does it need to be turned on in settings for notifications?

Of course it`s have LED - left upper corner, it`s not so big, but working just fine for me (SMS messages, e-mail, calendar notifications, etc...)
I never saw any special settings for notifications in general in the system, but you can go to the stock messaging application and see how you can change the style of notification.
Plus you can try Handcent SMS application from Google Play and see how it goes.

Thanks. I just hope it is not defective. I will let her know where to look.

Is her screen usually on or off? The LED only lights when the screen is off.

Glance showing wrong number of notifications

The pebble forums are horrible, so I thought i'd post here.
My Glance app is showing 5 notifications for text messages at all times. Any way to reset this?
And while I'm at it...
Notification Center sometimes reboots my pebble when trying to clear a notification and go back to Glance. Is this just a bug?
For Glance, you can do one of two things. Search through your history for unread text messages (I had to use the stock app), or set "Unread SMS Count from Tasker/Int..." to on.
I don't know anything about notification center. The fact that it doesn't display the full message keeps me from using it.

Thanks! I'll try the Tasker trick. I like notifications center bc it allows me to dismiss notifications on my phone. Is the any other way to achieve this?

So does Glance not clear notifications from the phone?

Notifications

Is there a way to limit the notifications in the top bar to icon of app only rather than having the text scroll first then the persistent icon? I don't want to disable the entire notifications like in the app settings, just the text.

It depends on the app. For example, third party SMS apps often have a setting to do just what you described. I don't think any stock apps have that setting.

Notification...

Can I disable the notification and have the pebble stay connected or will android kill it?

You can just go to settings within your pebble and turn off all the notifications. It should still stay connected.

Oh ok. After 2.0 mine actually rarely shows the notification. But there should be an option within the pebble app that lets you uncheck the persistent notification. I don't think android will kill it. It might disconnect occasionally but I doubt it.
If you use Android 4.3+ (or maybe 4.2), then you can open Settings -> Applications -> Pebble app and disable notifications for it. It should not affect anything else.
Also in latest versions of Pebble app notification icon is only visible in notifications panel, but not visible in statusbar - IMHO this is enough for most cases.

Nova Launcher Prime

Anybody that has nova launcher installed on the S5. When you press the home button while say on third page does it go back to the main default page? It seems to not be working. I even tried changing the settings under nova settings - gestures and button - home button to default page and still nothing.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I just installed and mine is working fine
I normally use ADW EX but Nova is working fine for me, no other issues.
100% working for me! I've been using Nova since day one and haven't experienced any problems.

Working fine here
yea works fine for me as well
Does Nova Prime show notification counts on the buttons for Hangouts? Last I heard it couldn't and Tesla Unread (which usually added counts) did not support Hangouts either?
People use Hangouts?

I would love to see hangouts have an unread count also
I am seeing some odd behavior also. If I am on another panel, other than the main one, and then I go to a running app, the first time I hit the home button, it takes me to the other panel. When I tap home a second time (not double tap), it will take me to the main panel.

I use it and love it. Merges my Wi-Fi and texts into one chat so when I have zero service at my house and I can continue a conversation over Wi-Fi with my girlfriend and friends that have hangouts without needing to start another app. Plus I can video cam through it when needed.

Tesla unread does not support Hangouts, but you can install Missed It! and set that up for any app that would want notifications for. If you don't mind using a widget for notifications rather than an app badge on the shortcut, use Notifyer Unread Count. Only drawback is you can't have folders with widgets in them, so your icons need to be added directly to your home pages or dock (in the case of Nova Prime). I have both setup (Notifyer for most things, Missed it! for anything in a folder) and they work great with Nova Prime.
