[Q] Restore original Sony firmware using Linux tools - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am now sick and tired having my Z bricked with CM, I want to go back to the original Sony firmware.
The problem is, I do not use and do not have "MS Windows" any longer. So, SUS and Emma is not an option for me.
But I do have the Android SDK and I read flashtool is available for Linux.
So, how can I restore the original Sony firmware using Linux tools? And where can I get the original firmware?
Does Sony offer it via download? Or only via its apps like SUS?
Can I restore the original ROM just with the Android SDK?
Thank you a lot!

Issue solved!
I formatted all partitions and put CM nightly on my Z. Now the IMEI is back!
Gosh, am I happy.

Hi,
after flashing the CWM Recovery System (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012738) to a ROOTED, but bootloader-LOCKED Xperia T everything worked, but:
- WiFi ist broken. It does connect to my LAN, the Phone shows up in the network if I do a scan, it respondes to ping, but I dont get any internet connection?!?
- From time to time I get some unstable responses from the UI (taskbar).
It's the NEW phone of my wife, I need to fix the WiFi...
PS:
Tried also this package:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2007741
And I tried the CWM removing tool:

I'm not able to post in the xda xperia T forum.
After flashing the CWM OTA update isn't possible anymore.
Would be nice to find a solution WITHOUT loosing all my stuff/new install after flashing a new firmware.
fixed it via update via pc with sony update service to GB and re-root with bin4ry.

Help reverting to stock ROM

Hi there,
I recently unlocked the bootloader on my Xperia Z so i could root my phone. I want to revert back to the stock firmware originally on the phone and tried downloading what i believed to be the stock firmware and flashed the device but everytime i try to install the newly released 4.2.2 firmware, it keeps telling me that it fails as the phone has modified firmware. I have tried using the sony update service but i get the same error and really have no clue on how to rectify this. Please help as im worried ive completely messed up the phone.
TIA
Use EMMA Flashtool. Read everything and you are ready to go.
Don't use PC Companion or Sony Update Software on an unlocked device.
Thanks for the info.
I followed the instructions in the help file but everytime i run the software, my system crashes out and i cant seem to run it
Blue screen? Could be drivers issue.
You could download a stock FTF and flash it with Flashtool too. Same effect as EMMA.
It's a case of actually finding a stock ftf

Bootloop after Root attempt

Hello,
I got a Japanese XperiaZ (Docomo) on which I tried to achieve root access following this guide:
http://www.xperiaguide.com/2013/07/...irmware-by-doomlord-easy-rooting-toolkit-v18/
After flashing the first .ftf and trying to turn on the phone I'm stuck in a bootloop (until Sony then restarts).
Now i wanted to reflash the original software but my computer says it can't recognize the device.
Can anyone please help me?

If ur computer cannot recognize ur device try to reinstall device drivers or update
and if a software cannot recognize it try another software to repair ur phone
What tool r u using for flashing stock rom !??!
Before you dud that, were you on .244 fw version? If you weren't, that's the problem (because you said that you got Japanese XZ, and probably came with DoCoMo custom ROM). You have to flash stock non-DoCoMo .244 ftf first.

I'm using flashtool.
First I were on Docomo .343 and then I flashed XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.A.0.423_Generic_NL.f tf.
After that I had the bootloop.
Turns out the usb cable was broken. Omg. Got another one and now I can connect in flash mode.
I was able to reflash the original 343 docomo Kernel and at least its starting again. Was a little bit scared there since it's not my phone.
How can I flash the stock firmware now? Could you please point me to the right direction. I tried to find the right guide for so long already.
Wow that's not right. It is very important for you to flash stock .244 ftf first.
This is what you have to do:
1. Get a new cable
2. Flash stock non-DoCoMo .244 ftf FULL ROM using flashtool. You can get download link around in development section.
3. You can start rooting using doomlord's guide.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Semi-Bricked Please Help

Hello everyone, I've been trying to get my Xperia Z rooted. The firmware is 10.31.E.0.191.
I did something wrong now I'm bricked. When I turn my phone on the Sony logo appears and then that's it, and the screen turns off afterwards. I've tried all methods and failed to get my device rooted.. I tried flashing the kernel of this ftf file "C6606_10.1.1.B.0.166_TMobile_US" thinking maybe I had to downgrade because my firmware wasn't supported with flashtool and other methods to root.
Please give me some advice!!
Flash a stock FTF to your phone to unbrick it, then root it with this - Root many Android. Method 0 is what you need to root your current firmware version.

Already have that file downloaded. I used method 3. I guess I choose the wrong one then. I'll try using method 0 then! Also one thing, could you please link me to a stock FTF?
I don't have one to hand, sorry. There's definitely a C6606 stock rom in the general section. A search should find it.

Ok I'll keep searching. I was going to download one and make it a FTF with flashtool but Sony PC Companion cant recognize my phone because of the issue lol no problem though, I'll get it! :good:
EDIT: Ok, so Sony PC Companion is fixing my phone atm, had no idea I could do that I just selected my device and it's fixing my device! After that I'll try method 0! Thanks man!
You're welcome.

Unroot using sony pc companion

HI guys
im currently running slim rom 4.4 on my z1 with unlocked bootloader. im looking to wipe and unroot, the guides ive seen are not to straight forward, im pretty much a complete noob and not very tech savvy, and a little worried about bricking my z1.
recently i connected my z1 to the laptop and sony pc companion auto ran and siad i have an update {157 firmware} for my z1, if i were to go ahead with this update would i brick my phone or would it wipe and be back to factory rom and would root be lost
For unroot, Simply connect your phone to pc and do "repair" in pc companion.
Edit: you lose your data after repair.

If you do repair then it will have a reset. I'm not sure if the repair does update your firmware as well, but I don't think so. And I think the bootloader will still be open. You must relock it before, but again I'm not 100% sure with this.
Edit: if you take out SD card, it can't be deleted. But the internal storage of your phone will be deleted.
