We are really thankful for those who have entered our contest so far, we are really excited reading through and reviewing the developer entries and the reasons why you love the Chromecast as much as we do.

Just a personal message...
Well that's all I have to say for this post, I just wanted to say that I'm enjoying the enthusiasm of those in this community and that it's been great working alongside @tchebb and @ddggttff3 and the response from all of you to the work myself and the team have released so far has been fantastic and is continually inspiring us to keep working to bringing new features to rooted Chromecast's!

Awesome! Thanks for the little youtube challenge.

Can't wait to try it

How will this ROM differ from PwnedCast 1.1?

In many, many ways. my PwnedCast ROM is mostly just a rooted image with KyoCast (as of 1.1) built into it. This new ROM has some new features that have not been seen before.

Sweeeeet! I'm officially 'teased' Can't wait Been so unhappy with my Chromecast before root.
I rarely donate...might have to buy your team a beer!

Looking forward to seeing what you all have come up with. I love streaming now with my new internet connection.

That web portal looks sweet!

Sweeet!! Can't wait!

Should I hold off on installing 1.1.1 and wait for this or will 1.1.1 take the OTA updates?
I managed to find a couple of old serial numbers in Corpus Christi Best Buy while on vacation there last week and my OTG cable is going to be here this afternoon. Maybe I'll just flash one of them and hold off on the other one for now.
Thanks for all the work.

I really can't think of a reason to wait. You'll have to flash either PwnedCast or the rooted 13300 stock firmware in order to preserve root, so might as well do it. Unless you're going to leave the other Chromecast(s) in the box. Unless you plan to sell them, I'd open them to check that they're functional (don't set up, just make sure it boots and gives picture) while you're still in the return period (granted, it's holiday returns now, so you have until January).

Thanks, I already have the PwnedCast bin file flashed to a drive so I'm going to go ahead and do it to at least one. There were about 5 serial numbers that should have been known to work and I purchased the earliest two. I suppose I should have bought them all but I just put them back on the pegs. The two I got were pretty far back on the pegs so I'm hoping I'm just lucky. I'll verify that they work before flashing and won't make the mistake of setting them up like I did my original two that I purchased.

Remember that the first time is a two-step process:
Write the Flashcast .bin to the USB drive, then boot Flashcast on a Chromecast which then preps the drive to accept eureka_image.zip (mods and firmware)
Plug the drive back into a computer and copy the PwnedCast .zip to the Flashcast-prepared drive as eureka_image.zip
From there you boot the drive on all your Chromecasts to install PwnedCast, including the Chromecast you used to do the above (because the first Flashcast boot just prepped the drive, it didn't install PwnedCast).

Unrevoked team: Root And Recovery reflash tool (updated 7/14/10)

Recovery Reflash Tool
Available for linux, mac, and windows all at once. Also should support Evo, Incredible, and Aria, Eris, and Desire.
First steps:
1. You will need to make sure in windows at least that you have the proper driver for hboot:
http://www.unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php?id=public:windows_hboot_driver_install
2. HTC Sync is BAD news... If you have it, please uninstall if you have issues, or just for spite. It interferes with us communicating to the device randomly, also pdanet, doubletwist etc could cause issues. If it uses USB and you have problems, try disabling/uninstalling until after the reflash is complete.
3. When asked ALWAYS CHOOSE CHARGE ONLY, perhaps you should check remember this...
THE LINK: http://unrevoked.com/recovery/
FAQ: http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/unrevoked2
Help I'm stuck at waiting for system to settle
check these common issues:
- You switched your driver to the one from this post? It's NOT identical to the SDK one.
- You don't have any usb applications that might be taking focus while we are working with the phone right?
- Is the SD card present in the device?
- You did give su permenent access when you allowed it in superuser right?

Flippin' Sweet! Can't wait
I can't frickin wait. I'm not one to check forums every 5 minutes, but I have been since root was achieved and recovery was announced. I did the same thing with the whole Jake Day fiasco. Needless to say I was very disappointed and angry afterwards. Unrevoked totally rules.
Re: Unrevoked team (coming soon): Recovery reflash tool
I'd be happy to test if you need someone with an EVO. Already rooted and all that fun stuff.
Been keeping an eye out here for a friend with a dinc.

It's coming soon, we are about to test on some users devices. No need to volunteer, we will choose folks out of the incredibleroot irc channel as needed.
Will be available for linux, mac, and windows all at once. Also should support Evo, Incredible, and Desire if we ever get someone with one to help test and set a few things. To clarify it will require that you have root already. If you don't, please proceed with the other method for now to get it until we have a better option (which still is in the works).
This will be the release thread. Subscribe if you like.

Thank you all and keep up the good work we are all very thankful for your time and effort~!
Still new to android world. What will this tool actually do ?
Well it's primarily going to allow users with root to get around the nand lock and flash a custom recovery that will allow custom roms easily. As well as modifying system at will by rebooting to recovery with adb enabled inside it.

Will /system be rw while booted in android?
not until our next project completes, a special hboot to enable full nand write. For now we are just enabling it to flash recovery as the next step gets very dangerous.

So we will still have to jump through the same hoops to get into recovery mode? I did it once but can't seem to do it again so i have root access but haven't been able to remove all these crappy sys apps.
no, this will flash a custom recovery that ENABLES adb.... so you get it every time.

It sounds like the incredible team knew what they were doing and took there time with the programing.
Just another example why this phone isn't half ass done...
Can't wait for nand accesses and custom roms. Wish I knew more about programing and could help out...
I really just want to get root on this phone one time before I die... I have staired at loop.bat so much I'm dreaming in DOS...
Really I had a dream that I got root and passed the shell... I woke up and my wife asked me what was going on I told her I got root she laughed at me and told me I was dreaming. She now makes fun of me calling me a Nerd... She says most guys dream about women and I dream about rooting my Dinc.
I didn't mention to her it was two naked cheerleaders that helped me get root.
Great work guys!

Excellent job!
Excellent, all seems good and ready to go even before I get my device this week. Now we need someone to port CyanogenMod
Effin awesome! Device shipped out today, I can't wait to start modding!
Sweeeeeeeeeeeet!!!
Tested on my adam with pixel qi and wifi. It appears to work great! Although, the up and down is reversed. One more thing, you should port over the touchscreen calibration option from the stock recovery to cwm, then it will be complete.
Great work!
cant wait to test this out, anything in particular that needs testing?

I guess any of the features in clockworkmod that are not mentioned as tested in the OP. I'm going to hopefully work on it some more when I get back from my work trip at the end of this week.

ok, Thus far I have noticed adb reboot recovery now works from command prompt on windows 64bit, it didnt work with 3e. I will do a few other tests later.
Latest update on 02/06/11 fixes the backwards button issue.
Excellent work. This is quite essential for any further developments.

I redirect to that so I don't HAVE to update multiple sites. I can update one link and be done with it. By your standards, there is a lot of spam on XDA.
Do you not update these lines anyway:
Run the update.zip(named cwmod3005_020611.zip)
Clockworkmod 3.0.0.5 for Notion Ink Adam - 020611
Its still spam.

I did this time, but as time commitments changed I'm not guaranteed to. Just like when people cross post anything I maintain on XDA to another forum. I ask them just to copy over anything they want except for the download link. Therefor, I don't have to go rounding up posts to make sure they are all up to date. They follow back to the one key place I'm maintaining them, which for the adam is notioninkhacks. The reason being the focused device forums give much more separate forum options, like bug tracking we are starting there. The reason I'm a mod is so I can test and move bug tracking items to forums.
Man, ungrateful, entitled, neurotic pricks like yourself make this hobby a lot less enjoyable.
Rothnic - please ignore daml. I don't understand why he's being so ungrateful. You're spending your personal time to release something that benefits the whole community. The rest of us appreciate the effort that you are spending putting together ROMS like this!
Keep up the great work and don't let the haters get to you!
Keep up the good work!!
Cant wait till my adam comes this week hopefully.. I will test and report anything out of the ordinary. Much love!!
Looking good - my Adam is currently 'shipping in progress' but when I get it this is one of the first things I'll be loading on there - great work!
Works great, thanks for this.
thank you.. works great for me. love the security of having my rom all backed up

(ROM)(D959 ONLY) 4.2.2 FLEX THIS v1.2

This is based off of the stock 4.2.2 D959 T-Mobile LG G Flex software.
Its slightly modded, debloated, and deodexed.
Stock kernel, and boot.img .
F340 aboot for custom recovery by PLAYFULLGOD. thanks for the custom recovery, its saved me many a times.
I've pulled out most T-Mobile junk and other crap-pack uselessness.
Modified with Xposed using Gravitybox, Hkthemer, XGELS, and all Xposed modules should be injected into the stock settings.
Added xPosed, Gravity box, XGELS, Google Now Launcher, Cobalt and Dnites Blue n Black leather theming through out. ANDROID L boot animation, and Original LG shutdown animation.
Everything works now even the stock flex theme weather widget.
special thanks to PLAYFULGOD, DFUSE, KINTWOFAN
And as promised here is the download link for :
T-MOBILE D959 ONLY !!!!!!!!
(if you're not on T-Mobile D959 and you flash this I can not help you)

Happy theming. I'm still working on the heavily themed version. Having issues getting all the theming to stick. So be patient and play around with this.
If you're on KK 4.4 then use Dfuse's easy way to downgrade to 4.2.2 to get custom recovery and flash till your little hearts content. As always I'm not responsible for what you do to your device.
cool stuff!
when you get a chance, no hurry, can you post a screenie or 2? Curious as to how heavy you themed it!
It's tempting to try, but my phone had horrible screen issues when on JB, and they have gone away with KitKat, so I cant decide if I want to downgrade and try it..
Thanks
Good job brother... Thank you
Looking forward to trying this. I got the shakes from not flashing for 6 months. lol

Lmao I know I know. I said I would upload it last night but I went all OCD on the themed version and can't get some of the themes and mods to stick when I compile. So I would redo it then some stuff that wouldn't stick before did and others that stuck before didnt. Its bein a 8!+(#. And thought I was so close to having it right I was waiting to do both at the same time since my hotspot is my wifi , I couldn't keep rebooting and testing the themed one while the stock deodexed was uploading. But I will , and I promise, upload the stock first before I work on the other one tonight.
Stock is nothing special, just heavily debloated and deodexed. In the flashabke zip format we are all used to.
1. System
2. Meta-inf
3. Boot.img

I solved that issue by getting a male micro usb to female USB cord. Its about 3" long and I plug a 16 gig flash/thumb drive into it and keep all my flashable stuff and a lot of music on it. The flex has no problem syncing to it but if you use it as an otg (with the side port micro USB for charging simultaneously) I'm almost positive we will need kernel support for the charger to actually charge. But just the adapter works fine. Ha LG take that I do have an ext. Sdcard.

Wow ! Congratulations ??
So we are getting a custom ROM finally Thank you very much!
It's a shame: The Pixel C ist the best Android Tablet on the market but it gets almost no community support, because it costs a few bucks more than the usual cheap china crap
i think the bootloader situation is more detrimental to us than the lack of pixel c owners. even chainfire won't mess with it and he owns a pixel.
nice to see a custom rom finally, but it puts the navigation buttons in the middle. that's a step backwards in my opinion.

Nav bar tablet mode is a changable feature in settings
I was at work for 13 hours today so no time for anything else, I can upload a system.img tomorrow if anyone is interested it just needs flashed thru fastboot then you gotta manually wipe data and flash gapps and manually set permissions for gapps I'll see how much time I can set aside later this week for a better method. I pulled the source for depth charge and I'll dig in and see if I can figure out how to use it it's kind of annoying that there's no documentation included how hard is it to write a readme sheesh

This isnt a full rom yet so much as a system.img it still uses the stock kernel so you get whatever that supports for now.
I'm uploading JUST the system.img right now I'll link it shortly.

Awesome!!!
I'm patiently waiting for updates because I'd love to use this without the listed bugs This tablet really needs a bad ass ROM to unlock it's full potential. Not rushing you obviously, good work takes time!

Pixel C was developed as a Chrome OS device, so it has a Chrome OS bootloader. Don't know the implications of that, but apparently it complicates things.
Why should I flash this?
Is there any feature list I missed? Wifi/Touchscreen fixed?

goood luck
First thing needed: Google USB drivers, if you install them, they'll install automaticly after device plug in.
Second: unlocked bootloader, i don't remember what command is for that (i've done it a lot time ago) but on google site it is. Of course, you need to do it by fastboot.
Third: recovery, TWRP from their site and flash by fastboot.
Fourth: rom flash by recovery, it'll be easy.
Little instructions for you
finally I am all good with Nougat on my Nexus 5
Hey all, I am kid from 80s who have seen computers and internet Growing Up Right in Front of Me. I was feeling the same exictement that I had while installing windows 98
I spend almost 5 hours in one single day and I was a kind of shock after having a Nougat on my Nexus.
One thing here is for sure that restart may resolve problem in windows on 1st try but on the phone have to be patience and still rebooting the device may solve many problems...
Thanks a lot to seniors and other developers for their job....
It can't be more short

Yes, that's it and we are done with the update if one knows the steps than I think it will take only 1 hour max to get latest updates on Android. Thanks for keeping it short...
