Anything I can safely put over lens?

I use face unlock and seems every time I talk on the phone and often just taking it out of my pocket, the front lens is smudged pretty badly. I'm wiping it off a few times a day. Never had this problem with my Evo 3D.
Anyone have any clever ideas to reduce the smudging? Maybe some kind of protective cover that won't ruin pictures?

This sounds really stupid, but how are you putting your phone into your pocket? The fabric of your pocket isn't exactly thick, and sweat and grime from your body easily winds up all over anything inside of your pocket.
I bicycle a lot on campus, so I found that the easiest thing to do was to make sure my phone always went in with the screen facing out. That alone saved a lot of wiping.

It's more of a problem after a call but not always. I try to keep screen facing out in my pocket. But this is a good point too.

Unboxing

Got my Gear in this morning. Wanted to do an unboxing video. A first for me. Enjoy!

Give us your impressions.

So far, I am limited until my phone arrives later on this afternoon. Right now I am wearing it to see how it feels. I have large wrists so I had to use the furthermost hole in the band, but it fits well. It has a bit of weight to it, which for some, might take a little getting used to. The buckle also serves as the speaker.
If you're typing it can interfere with the wrist rests on your keyboard but your mileage might vary. I did power it on and take it outside to test outdoor visibility. It's sunny here in Houston today, I didn't see any issues, but again, it's just my preference.
It came with a 71% charge. I used the cradle to charge it to 100% which didn't take long at all. The watch is pretty much useless without the phone.

I want to see a pic of it on your wrist for size comparison plz ,,,,thx

Can you tell me if an MMS will show up on screen ?
How far away from the phone can you get before it loses connection ?

Still waiting for the phone to arrive. UPS is notoriously late for standard deliveries around here. I was surprised when they overnighted the watch lol.
I'll try these things out as soon as I can.

So what's the deal with this? As far as I can see my screws look to be the same height but it could just be an optical illusion LOL.
Meanwhile I'm still waiting for the phone to arrive...

Thanks, I was worried the Gear might not fit. My wrist is 8 1/4" (21 cm). I usually need extra links with a Fossil watch.

I was talking about being aligned clockwise not at the same height. Hahaha

Judging from a few comprehensive review I've seen yes it does have limitations like for the email. However this thing does have potential... At this rate though, checking the battery life will have to wait till tomorrow as I still don't have the phone...

crackling sound with a voice

I have my galaxy gear from att running stock with a few sideloaded apps. I have really enjoyed using the watch and use s voice for responding to texts. However the speaker sometimes sounds crackly. I don't know if I can fix it or need to take it back to att.
Any advice?

I'm getting the same thing and I think it's with this latest upgrade, the crackling was not there before . I just wish I could get Google now on here and permanently replace s voice

The farther I am from my phone when using s-voice, the worse it gets. If I'm next to my phone, it's fine. Go upstairs and phone down, it's crackly. I feel it's not the speaker but just the relay between phone and gear is weak, like when I used blue tooth headsets and would push the limits on distance.

i have same issue while using mostly at time the svoice app... thought it was a defect but sounds like a app on the most part

Omg thank you so much. Was blowing my mind how music/video, sound just fine. While S Voice kept cracking "manly used it when phone was away on charger" kept cracking. Then I put it in my pocket while standing and sound just fine.

Very low volume/sound...

Hi guys my gear is suffering from very low sound volume from the speaker, I can hear it its just very faint. It used to work fine, here is my set up ...stock NA3 which I have since downgraded to stock mk7 I also downgraded the gear manager and have performed multiple resets nothing seems to help. Is my only hope to send it to Samsung? it works, i just can't hear the bloody thing!

I don't think so though but I guess it's possible. ... It's in for warranty repair at the moment, I will update when I get it back. On a side note I find myself really missing the convenience of staying in touch with the world at the flick of the wrist, after having a smart watch I can't imagine myself ever not owning one.

Okay, I called Samsung last Friday morning and by Saturday morning they had sent out the return envelope... Posted Monday morning and have just received a brand new watch and cradle back from them! So 6 days in total from 1st contact to new watch on my arm, THANK YOU VERY MUCH SAMSUNG. :thumbup:

Yup back to normal, as I said they gave me a new watch, I know this as my clasp was scratched and this one is mint.

I think I may go to best buy and mess around with their watches and compare sound levels. See if it's normal to be lower or if mine is just low. I feel they should have included the speaker on the actual strap facing you (opposite the camera).

Oh on a completely non related subject I finished setting up my new watch earlier and have got the nexus lwp running behind the stock icons with the knight rider theme tune as my ring tone, I'm in geek heaven... Looks and sounds the nuts

Maybe some funk got in the speaker hole or the speaker itself got inverted somehow.

I blew some compressed air into the speaker and it seems to be louder now.
Hope this helps someone else in this position.

Galaxy S5 survived a Bicycle vs Car test

I was taking a stroll on my bicycle today with the goal to ride to cool places so I can take pictures with this nice camera. Well I was coming from the right and this guy was turning yl right but he was looking left towards on coming traffic; I attempt to pass him but he had other intentions.
He hits me I roll up his hood and then fell on my left side the whole time my s5 was in my left pocket and not a scratch on it. +1 Samsung
