Found Bugs on my N5 - Nexus 5 General

Hi,
I am just playing around with my N5 and found some interesting bugs I think.
1. I bought the 32gb version, but in settings->storage it says that I have 12.55gb usable memory.. I think it has to be about 27gb... Will now try if I can use more than this 13gb.
2. My WiFi doesn't connect automatically into networks I have saved. I have to deactivate and activate again WiFi to connect...
Someone of you experienced similar things?

Huh this is strange. Are you sure you have the 32 GB version?

I think u shud go and replace your phone!!
Check on the box whether it is 32GB or not....or may b the box was tampered..!!
Go and talk to the retailer.
Dont frget to press the THANK button!!!

No, its definitely a 32gb version, cause I saw it at the first time looking at this.
Maybe it has something to do with root/cwm.
Bootloader says: Variant - hammerhead D821(H) 32GB ...
Will go back to Stock and see if the problems disappear...

The 12 GB thing is a bug and I saw a fix here in XDA. Search

If you flashed the factory image, the userdata.img seems to be for the smaller 16gb model.. format data to fix it.. and for future factory flashes you can delete the userdata.img from the main .zip

Ok, what to flash instead? Nothing?
formated data, but its still the same...

you can try 'fastboot oem lock' then 'fastboot oem unlock'. .it wipe everything except the system

I had the same issue with my nexus 4 (16gb -> 8gb model). I solved by formatting and reflashing factory images twice.
Give it a try

I have just tried the procedure in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2513701
Did all, except flashing userdata.img (did format data instead) and recovery
But still it shows only 13gb of memory...

Now I tried lock/unlock: bootloop...

it takes a while to boot because it's rebuilding everything after an unlock.. there is nothing that should cause a bootloop

I know, but in this case it took more than 5 minutes... and i think thats too long.
I try now the 4.4 factory image... maybe it works with that files
Edit: with 4.4 factory image it work... finally.

But still I have the issue with the WLAN connection.
If I enter region where a saved network is, it doesn't connect on its own. I have to switch off and switch on again than the connection is done at once.
Also sometimes I can't connect to networks where others have no problem to connect.
Is there a advanced radio which I can flash to solve this issue too?

[Q] Help|Endless loop and system failure

The Story:
I bought a new Nexus one.
Got the OTA updates and updated the phone (first 2.1 then 2.2 and 2.2.1)
Since then the phone is not rebooting properly. usוally it just reboot and reboot and reboot.
After I formated the SD card the phone booted succeussfully but crashed again after a minute back to the endless loops.
can someone please help?
I tried to unlock the bootloader, root the device and flash Amon's recovery but although the cmd windows said that it ewent alright besides of the open lock sign nothing seems to change.
Please Please Please Help, It's a brand new phone...
p.s.
if there is any way to just erase everything (already tried earse cache and userdata from the recovery...) and get a "new" phone - please tell me how.
I know how to use adb/fastboot, I'm not a noob...
Thanks a lot!!!
Where is my question...?
I can't find it...
It's right here.
Anyway, I suspect your problem after flashing recovery is you're rebooting, and the OS is reverting to stock. Go straight into it first, take a backup and wipe it.
Failing that you'll need to grab FRG83 image from http://developer.HTC.com and use fastboot to flash over system.img and boot.img
You'll be able to format every partition on your Nexus One by using Clockwork Recovery.
By Amon's recovery you can do similar thing but it doesn't offer ability to format System partition (it's not quite useful to format System partition anyway..)
You mentioned that your phone could boot successfully with a formatted SD card and then ran into problem, my guess is that your SD card has bad block(s), please verify this by take your SD card out and use your phone for few hours, is there any stability issue?
so... an update:
I downloaded the original files and flashed them all in fastboot (recovery.img, userdata, boot and system).
The phone is on the "nexus-one sign" screen for over then half an hour now and nothing seem to change.
a. Is there somthing else that I should do? how long it should take...?
b. what are the odds that it's a hardware problem...?
c. could it be a problem related to incompatible radio?
Thanks...
and other update...
even after reflashing the original files I can't enter recovery (original) so I guess the problem lies within it.
with this information and the other messages - does anyone has an idea...? please...?
did you try another SD card?
try this and let me know if it works
kuldrivedotcom/host/n1/Back2Stock.zip
just unzip the file and follow the instructions.
let me know if it worked

Thank you, but the problem solved.
It was a big HARDWARE problem.
HTC knew right away what the problem is.
Sent the phone to HTC, got it back in 3 days, everything work just fine since.
Thanks anyway...

problem with factory reset

hello, i recently bought used droid 4, found it to be with some leftover data (sms, and such) so first thing i did was a factory reset only to
find it after a while in extact same state. weird thing is that when i factory reset it after removing some apps or changing anything at all it acts
as if i restored some backup instead of wiping device. it spams me with errors every few seconds too which is quite troublesome to say the least.
i searched the internet for an answer (still looking) to this problem but so far got nothing. i mean there are lots of ppl with similiar issue
but no real answer anywhere i looked. i thought maybe flashing some stock rom (dont wanna try anything custom yet since i got lapdock
too and havent checked if webtop works with custom roms yet). is it the right direction in my case or is there some simplier answer to my problem?
thanks in advance
update: cant root it, cant install official update through rsdlite, cant update through other unofficial ways,
it acts as if everything went fine and each time im back to square 1. it aint my first or second journey with rooting,
changing rom but im not really sure what else can i do. also rsdlite cant detect any information about device (imei,
os version, flex drm boot etc are all filled with N/A
install from sdcard also failed - signature verification failed. keeps gettin better. downloading another rom from
official moto website... not expecting anything though

what official site? use files from my page How to Use RSD Lite to flash a .XML Stock Rom (firmware)
thanks for taking interest
tried factory reset with options You mentioned unchecked, same thing as before.
i did use xml with rsdlite and zip through built in recovery.
tried to find this page i downloaded files but theres too much in yesterdays history, trying those from Your link now.
also tried to update rom ota, but of course theres an error. oh my droid runs 4.0.4, i havent mentioned it before.
also, found in the net schematics for factory cable, was thinking if its worth a shot this way:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-labs/146492-how-why-make-your-own-motorola-factory-cable-4.html

Update zips only update specific system versions, you have to use correct one, and must be complete stock.

from what i read in this post about factory cable it says it boots phone different way than normal thats why i thought maybe
itll be able to successfully update with it. also after every reset of this droid its not a simple matter of apps coming back thru wifi.
wifi is disabled and theyre there right from the start. i can remove some widgets or apps from home screen, i can delete texts,
and after reset theyre all back where they were. its as if every change i made havent been saved. i dont even have to reset phone,
i just need to reboot it to have it all back
phone needs to be in AP Fastboot mode when flashing with rsd lite.
verify md5 checksum for xml file before flashing.
yes, it was in ap fatboot mode, didnt verify the md5 tho.
more importantly, file i downloaded from site You linked passed verification! guess what i found wasnt official updates after all...
i hope this works

Factory/Fastboot cable only uses the alt power (4) pin to power device, there are several pre-made ones

is it any different than checking "erase internal storage" when reseting phone?
anyways did it but atm have to recharge battery before trying to wipe it again.

did system version change?
same story after formating internal memory.
no changes whatsoever. same homescreen, same widgets/apps present. same system version.
and of course new error every 5 seconds. guess the phone is messed up good.
talk about luck. its second droid 4 i bought. first i bought over a month ago on auction site, it was new. i paid, guy never sent it.
now this one. its like a curse
formatting internal won't wipe, user data, but will wipe backup data.
tried xml with rsdlite now.
after first reboot its supposed to go into the recovery mode right?
it went back in to ap fastboot... and after rsd transfered all the files then it went to bootloader... and now program says reboot is in process while phone sits in recovery mode...

select wipe data, then select reboot
done, nothing changed.
also, when rsd works it acts as if it doesnt wait for the phone with operations.
it writes reboot, phone starts to reboot, and long time before it boots back either in ap fastboot mode or into recovery
rsd says its already transfering files, it says reboot again (before phone even gets into fastboot or recovery after 1st reboot) and so on.

which fastboot version? 0A.74 , 0A.77?
which xml file?
0A.74
cdma_maserati_9.8.2O-72_VZW-18-2_1ff.xml
looks like you have a failure to write data, don't think there is a fix.
could try my Unbrick Moto device with moto-fastboot.exe
but unlikely that it will work

[Q] Stuck at Unlocked Bootloader Screen (XT1063)

I left my phone charging overnight. Woke up, and saw that my XT1063 was stuck on the Unlocked Bootloader screen.
1. Tried to do a Factory reset from the fastboot screen and it went back to the same white screen.
2. Went into recovery and I see this message at the bottom of the screen
http://postimg.org/image/u8zi9d5ud
3. I have tried to format the cache/dalvik cache. Nothing has changed. I used fastboot and booted into TWRP and get this result.
http://postimg.org/image/5emdm1rij
4. Tried format/wipe cache from fastboot. Nothing changes. Tried flashing other versions of TWRP and Phil's CWM, stock recovery remains.
Is there anything that can be done? I'd like some help really as I've only has 3 months with this phone. I'm willing to do anything right now
There's nothing I can do?
I'm assuming nothing can be done...
I m by no means a professional, but it looks like some of your partitions are corrupt. If there is any way to flash the stock ROM, do that. But failing that, I'm really not sure what to do.Maybe do a search on google to see if others have fixed it on other devices, then try the same?

I've searched and tried those methods. for one, I can;t use ADB. Is there any way to format the cache partitions? When I try to do a wipe function from stock recovery, it gives back the same message.
So I have a useless moto g :crying:
In would just do the following command in fastboot:
"fastboot erase cache"
If this doesn't work, I'm really not sure

So if you try that, does it give you an error message or does it just not work? If this is the case, you may be dealing with a bricked phone ?

[XT1092] GSM network unavailable but I can recive calls

I'm facing weird situation with my XT1092 6.0 MM - I cannot make outgoing calls (nor SMS/MMS) because my phone says "mobile network not available". But I can receive incoming calls & messages!
When I take a look into "about phone -> SIM status" there are only Not Available entries. When I run Netmonitor app or use *#*#4636#*#* there are all information about mobile network (operator, NodeB, sector, RSSI, etc). IMSI number is also available. See screenshots.
It happened suddenly, no special action was taken by me. Changing network type (LTE/WCDMA/GSM, auto, PRL, etc) does not solve issue. Clearing cache & dalvik cache does nothing. Restart neither. Taking out &in SIM card does not work.
It happened 3 days ago to me and I solved issue by Factory Reset. It was working 2 days and happened again right now! I cannot afford factory reset & restoring every 3 days, it's madness. I suppose it's some kind of software issue, maybe permissions related?
Do you have some idea what can cause this issue? Maybe I could post logcat that someone can read it and deduce what is the root cause?
Have you tried with a different sim card?
Yes, the same.
Flashing NON-HLOS.bin and fsg.mbn doesn't solve the issue...I think only factory reset is an option...

If factory reset is the only thing that fixes it. I assume the problem is with an app that you installed. To verify use safe mode. Hold the power button till a popup appears. Press AND HOLD power off, after a few moments a message should appear asking if you want to reboot in safe mode. If it works in safe mode, then one of the apps you installed is the cause.

I've tried to get into safe mode, but got stuck in motorola startup animation. I've removed some system apps manually, so maybe this is the problem with safe mode?

Stuck in a bootloop, any hopes?

Yesterday I was using my phone and it suddenly started rebooting itself. Since my bootloader was locked, my phone was stock rom, no root, no custom recovery and usb debugging off my hopes of doing something through ADB or Fastboot vanished. I think it is fixable but I would like to recover all my data first. I heard that you can try to get your phone into EDL mode in order to recover your data, so I tried to via test point method and my phone is now recognized as Qualcomm 9008. However, afaik this mode wont let me recover any data, and I need to get it to be 9006 instead of 9008. Any help?
Proceed at your risk.
The test point method http://en.miui.com/thread-693884-1-1.html it is using Mi flash tools to flash the ROM so you can opt out for save user data in order to keep internal storage.
in that thread it is mentioned to clean flash but there is one step given to save user data so i don't know what things will be saved and what not. most possibly itll wipe app and its data so messages, call logs, contact will get wiped if there are in internal storage if they haven't backed up to the cloud.
do read carefully and then proceed.

So I tried this and, after dealing with many versions of Mi Flash (newer ones crashed, older ones had many errors) I was finally able to flash a fastboot rom but unfortunately I'm still stuck in the bootloop. I guess wiping data is an unavoidable fate. Thanks again 4 everything
1.Install twrp.(if you dont have)
2.Turn off phone and click power volup+voldown and when phone turns on release power btn. Recovery will appear wipe data, cache, dalvik, system, vendor then install any rom (i recommend pixelexperience or miui stable). Then wait if there an bootloop i cant help bye.
