Galaxy Gear Not Charging on External Charger - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Hey guys, I just noticed that the Galaxy Gear doesn't charge on my Zagg External Charger. Anyone know why? Thanks.

Had that issue with my car charger. Not sure if the gear charging base requires a specific mAh range.

Looks to be a problem of the charger probably not supplying enough power. I have used multiple chargers without any problems.

It charges fine when I plug it into the computer USB. And doesn't that have lower power? I'm able to charge my Phone, tablet and pretty much anything else with the external charger except the gear. Weird.

[Q] GPS, batteries and car chargers

Hey guys
Have got the GPS working properly on my SGS (props to those who figured that out) but I've noticed something a little concerning.
When I'm running google navigation that battery continues to run down, even when its plugged into my car charger. It'll survive for a good few hours, but it seems a bit bad to arrive at wherever I'm going and need to borrow a mains charger when I get there.
Anyways, I'm normally running bluetooth to my jabra speakerphone/fm transmitter, but nothing else that should agitate the battery too much, and with GPS turned off, it happily charges even with the screen perma-lit.
Im running stock JG5, and my dash charger consists of a cigarette lighter to USB converter and the stock USB cable.
Any thoughts on whats up with this would be greatly appreciated!
The phone is probably consuming more power then the 500 mah charger can provide. You need a dedicated mini usb for charging, the ones that actually are usb cables only provide half power

Very unlikely that will work if doing intensive stuff on the note as the charging is made for Apple products we have a long thread discussing car chargers in the Sprint forum

This is the charger that I use. I admit that I don't charge my Note II in the car very often, but the few times I've used it, it worked well.
+1 - I use this charger and it seems to charge just as fast as my AC adapter, although I've never used the phone simultaneously as its charging. Obviously i have it plugged in to the 2A side.

Very hard to beat this charger. I have a few of them to take on trips and such, in case I forget it. Fast charging... at least double to triple what I saw trying to charge off a USB port (car or PC).
Plus you can't beat the price! Just make sure it's genuine (the one on amazon is).
Just bought one of THESE 3 days ago. Works fine here.
So do any of these actually charge at 2A? Does CurrentWidget report it as 2A?
Do they significantly increase battery life while in heavy use (using satnav with screen on)?
Thanks.

[Q] Battery drain while connected to car charger

Using CM10.1 (06-14 nightly) on my One (International), connected to a Belkin 1A USB car charger with a decent quality USB cable. The phone discharges slowly in general use, and quickly when using GPS. Looking in battery settings it shows "Charging (AC)", which would suggest that it's drawing the full 1A for charging. I didn't notice this problem on stock Sense, although it's been a while since I used that.
Has anybody else seen anything similar on their One? Is there any useful information I could get from a logcat to give to the CM devs?
Thanks in advance,
Jon
OK I checked on stock and it does drain similarly. Should I just get a more powerful charger or could I have a hardware problem? Tried with 2 different 1A car adaptors.

Have you got a clamp meter or know someone who has one? That will tell you how many amps are going into your phone. It does sound like the charger though as your charger at home should be similar voltage/amps to the car charger only the AC charger needs a transformer and rectifier to step down the voltage and change it from AC to DC, car chargers just step down the voltage a little (12v-5v) so require little additional size. Probably easiest to swap out the charger, they're pretty cheap

I think you need a bigger charging maybe the charger is not able to provide the needed ampere.

Thanks guys. I've ordered a 3.6A charger which had reviews saying it worked well for high power usage Android devices. So hopefully that'll sort things out. I'll post back my results.
OK, tried with the new charger and a good USB cable, and all is well. Even with GPS and Spotify running together the phone still charges slowly.

It's probably not about the Amp rating of the charger. You probably had a cheap charger unit that couldn't deliver the amperage the phone needed either cos it was using cheap parts or something. A proper 1amp charger will still do as well as your new 3.6A charger

Yeah that makes sense. I just thought that if I got a massively over-specced charger then it would at least manage 1A Would have expected the Belkin one to work properly in the first place but never mind.

Question about USB cables

Hi guys,
I'm having an issue with the charging cables and my note, so I'd like to hear if someone has an answer to this thing.
In short, I have the official Samsung charger and a Note that's fully operational, no dirty contacts on the charger, no broken pins or anything.
When I use the short Samsung USB cable with the charger, my phone charges normally. Yesterday I bought a longer USB cable(1.8meters long) and the phone just discharges during charge if I use it.
What's the huge difference between these two cables that makes the one I bought not work with my phone? Does anyone know of a certain brand of cables that 100% works with Note that I can order from eBay? I really need a long charging cable, and this Samsung one just doesn't cut it.
Thanks for the replies!

Try using a 2A charger..

Slow Charging??

Hey Peeps
Anyone else getting slow charging on SM-T810?
Using the bundled charger, I am getting average of only 680mA .... Definitely nothing over 950mA and that is even when screen is off...
Using the same charger and cable on my sony xperia Z3 easily achieve 1400mA ...
Same sort of numbers with other chargers etc... So pretty sure it is device not charger...

I just tested and am getting around 1500 mA. That is with my nexus 6 charger.
Bundled charger gives me around 1460 mA.
Are you certain it`s not the app that is wrong as the S2 is new and the app might not have been updated yet, Try the Samsung charging app below, you have to keep pressing the refresh button on the free version.

The charging rate can be anything from 300mAh to the maximum the power adapter can output, the tablet will determine the amount of power it will accept, and will jump from fast to slow charge depending on how much more power is needed until it reach 100%.
Thanks guys - obviously does not seen to be wide issue.
I tried the Samsung app above ... Sort of showed similar values ....
I did a charge from 69% to full and it took about 1.5 hours... So would be maybe 5 hours to charge fully?? Unless the device does much quicker charging at very low battery??
I will do a full discharge down to say 5% and then charge from there and see how I go.
Thanks again

I would install battery monitor widget from 3c on the play store.
A pretty comprehensive battery app and will give you a full history and time line of charging and discharging cycles.

Normally it will trickle charge slow once it reach approximate 80%, and is normally fast if the unit is almost power empty.
It's annoying. I've tried both ipad chargers and a 2.4A charger, but it will go to slow charging mode with anything else than the bundled charger.

Yeah i have found exactly the same!! Must be some sort of Samsung handshake protocol...
There is another thread on this that I have mentions about this, just use a good quality charger, or just go for a Qualcomm QC 2.0 charger from any known brand like htc, aukey, xpower, lots to name, just searh Qualcomm site for a full list.
It won't used the QC2.0, but all should work just like the OEM Samsung one
the ipad charger should be pretty high quality though, so I don't get why it's being so picky.

If you also followed the tab S thread, it's also been mentioned, Samsung tabs S are also picky, and yes all apple stuff don't work.
Should I rephrase it and say some good quality charger will work, even branded ones like sony may not even work, but my intital testing, most QC 2.0 charger will work.
The issue is that I'm trying to find one charger that will charge both my tab s2 and my iphone 6+ quickly. Any idea how qc chargers fare with iphones? The bundled tab s2 charger only gave my iphone 0.4A (it charges the tablet at 1.5A)
I have both sony and asus chargers with included cables work perfectly with iphones and sony xperia z3 and nexus 7... Hopeless with S2.... But s2 charger works fine with them..

Odd, my old Nexus 7 2012 charger fast-charges my S2 710 without any issue at all. I had it spare as the N7 died on me (the S2 is its replacement) and was initially wondering myself as I had a few supposedly 2A chargers at home which only slow-charged the S2 (or indeed under Android 5.0.2 said it wasn't charging at all, even though it evidently was, but 5.1.1 has fixed that).
That said this is a charger without fixed cable (but with a decent USB cable) and I know from Raspberry Pi experience that the cable is almost as important as the charger for getting decent charging (ie enough current) to the device on the far end.
I would make sure the USB cable is a decent one intended for charging.
Proper charging USB cables have the shield connected at both ends for use as ground which is why they are notably thicker.

I agree, a good quality cable is required, as well as the charger itself, I'm using a magnetic cable and a reversible micro USB cable with a OEM Samsung, Aukey and Xpower charger, I don't get the speed of the QC 2.0, but it isn't suppose to as the S2 is not QC 2.0 compatible, but it does charge pretty quick, it also charges my ipod 4, and my nw-ZX2 work without any problems.
I get the "slow charging" message when using the Galaxy Tab S2 bundled charger.
If I use the charger from my Note 4 (Exynos) I get faster charging and no "slow" warning.
Did Samsung bundle it with the slow charger??
I can confirm that samsung did in fact bundle the tab s2 WITHOUT a quick charge usb charger.
I also thought the tab s2 didnt come with quick charge. I have extremely slow charge times but my battery lasts for DAYS... I can fully charge it, put it in airplane mode and check on it after 2 days and be at 98-99% battery.
I also use the quick charge cable AND the quick charge usb adapter that came with my note 5 and the tab still slow charges..
Here the same problem use Samsung charger and cable charge from 20% to 100% in 6 hrs and when use HUAWEI cable with Samsung charger It charged in 2 hrs
I guess Samsung have poor quality cable *-*
