Combine Weather and News Clock - Samsung Galaxy Gear

Is it possible to combine the weather and news clock?
For me it be my dream watch face,
I like to see what the current Weather is ( even though it takes some time to refresh and is not always current )
I like to read news headline ( my current watch face )
Be great if the two can be combined.

weather forecast homescreen- not HTC home

Is there a cab file for att tilt that puts the weather forecast on the homescreen? I don't want the htc home either- its over-rated, buggy, and almost always an inaccurate forecast. its more like a postcast. I have no use for that.
Weather on Today screen
I would recommend that you use something like SPB Weather or Pocket weather. There are several good today screen weather apps out there. Many have a trial ware that you could test out to see what you think. I wish the HTC Home weather app could be modified to show more info and such.
Kevin
I'm working on a Homescreen PlusPlus theme that uses a mortscript weather(accuweather feed)that I wrote. Has icons in sliding dock at bottom for the 5 page views and other icons for app launching. The notifications appear on main screen when they don't have a 0 count(otherwise they are invisible). Weather has current page(current condition, precip, humidity, visibility, barometer, winds, sunset and rise, uv level, air pollen level, dewpoint), forecast page(forecast temps, conditions, estimated precip, winds), and radar page. Homescreen plusplus also supports gestures, so you can swipe to side to change views also. Like I said though, still working on it, should be done in a few days.

[REF] Complete widget list.

While thousands of apps have been released since Android's release, there have been relatively few widgets created (for obvious reasons). However, some do exist, and when mixed in with all of the fart apps and soundboards, it can be quite difficult to catch new ones. That being said, a thread tracking all released widgets could probably be beneficial to many. I'll try to update this first post with others' comments as more widgets are released, so feel free to share any I may have missed, or that have just come out.
Also, the widgets should be mainly universal, able to work on multiple homes. If a widget is only intended for, say, aHome, please include that information. Listing dimensions would also be nice.
So far:
Analog clock: The one from 1.0 (2 x 2)
aniCalendar*: A monthly calendar, that can be changed to a clock, as well. Available for $.99 on the Market, but definitely worth the price (2 x 2).
BBC News Widget*: Self-explanatory; gives recent news. When clicked, gives more news stories (1 x 4).
Calendar: One of my favorite; shows upcoming appointment times and locations from your Google Calendar. Also displays the day of the week and the date (2 x 2).
Forecast*: A great little widget that shows the day's high, low, and type of weather (sunny, rainy, etc.). When clicked, provides a forecast for the next few days right on the home screen (1 x 1; larger 2 x 1 version available).
Music: Extremely useful; allows you to play/plause/skip/previous right from the home screen (1 x 4).
Picture frame: The one from 1.0; self-explanatory (2 x 2).
Quick calendar*: While the app is excellent, the widget definitely needs polishing. Currently, places a small block on your home screen showing your next couple appointments. Available after downloading the Quick Calendar app (2 x 2, I believe).
Retro clock*: A digital clock with a retro look (2 x 2).
Search: The one from 1.0; self-explanatory (1 x 4).
Sticky note*: Great widget; appears as an icon of a sticky note (why there is a push-pin alludes me). Once clicked, the widget expands showing you a larger note, which can be edited quite easily (1 x 1).
Weather: Provides some details regarding the day's weather (1 x 4).
Yahoo News*: Very similar to BBC news, but of course, from a different news source (1 x 4).
* Available for download in Market.

you didn't mention the best thing about Bratag's excellent Sticky Note widget
When you press the camera button while either the title or note body field is selected (when editing or creating a sticky), it performs a voice-to-text conversion so you speak your sticky notes into the phone instead of typing. Very cool.

The ones not provided in the market are all, I believe, part of the 1.5 firmware. I run dxTop, and they are all available without downloading anything else. Thus, they should be available with the standard Home. I'm not sure about aHome or OpenHome.

WifiToggle is very nice. There is/was also another widget by this company, Rounded Labs, which toggles your ringer between silent, vibrate and on. I couldn't find it on cyrket though.
Brightness Toggle Widget
Thanks for the tip. With the improved security for widgets, I see new ones popping up every day now (Google's Android market).
The guys you mentioned added a Brightness Toggle Widget as well. If only I could add these 1x1 widgets to folders...
Here's the Ringer Toggle Widget by the way.
If you can't find Cyrket stuff, try again later, I suspect there might be performance issues. The traffic is probably getting impressive and increasing every day...
Thanks JJah. These widgets are great. The guys at rounded labs need to add a fourth one for gps or something so I have a complete row. I agree about putting them in a folder too. Another option that would be cool would be the ability to edit the colors. I like the blue, but I also like to switch wallpapers and it looked kind of weird with a bright red bg.

thanks for posting about my SimpleWidgetPack, I just thought i would mention the widget sizes and other information here for anyone interested
Simple Time - 2x1, display the current time, option for 12 or 24 hour clock
Simple Date - 2x1, display the current date in the form "XXX YY" where XXX is the first 3 letters of the month and YY is the numerical date
Simple Battery - 1x1, display the current battery charge as a percentage
Simple Temperature - 1x1, displays the current temperature as a degree, uses Google weather api to retrieve temperature based off of the location that you enter. Options for update interval time, and farenheit/celsius
All four widgets have options to change the text color and background color.
The application is available through the Android Market for $0.99
Ill promote my own widgets
* TimerWidget (1x1):
a timer that can be set in minutes... progress will be shown in a modern hourglass on the homescreen and it will vibrate/ring when the time is elapsed )
* VolumeWidget (1x1):
a widget thats shows the current ring mode ( vibrate / silent /ring ) and the volume. By clicking on the widget you can set the ring mode and the volume with a slider
Both can be downloaded in the market in Applications \ Productivity
Both widgets are totally free, but include a banner on their settings screen.
you what would great? if there was an XDA-Dream widget

best location based weather app!

The app in question is called "snowstorm" I found this in the market so make no claim to it !
Snowstorm will locate your position right down to small villages so is the perfect app for people annoyed with HTC's weather app.
So other than perfect location what else is there ? Skins ,plenty to choose from ! Choice of widgets , direct link to the main app (seven day forcast) when you click on the widget , easy to configure and lots of options, you can even choose the colour of the text on your widget so its visible whatever wallpaper your using.
One thing I like but others may find annoying is that the widget doesn't show the current weather, as standard it shows the weather in six hour segments, so what you see (depending on the widget ) is the weather in the next six hour segment say 12pm to 6am, you don't see what you can see by looking outside ! IMHO much more handy.
Oh the best thing about it ?
It's free !!!!
There's an app called 'Weather from Yr' which uses the same weather source (yr.no) and is a bit better IMO.
cheers! will have a look

Hello, it could be nice to be able to use multiple pictures, and have it changed depending on the weather (and still keeping your weather animation)
for example, the ASUS tree wallpaper have multiple versions, it could be cool to be able to uses them and put your effects on top.
Regards
I don't really use live wallpapers...but love this one!
Quick question...how does the battery setting work? I have set it at 0% and I can't see any difference from having it at default.
Battery backup
I like using live wallpapers due to bat3 drainage. But i had 2 giv dis a shot and its cool though i'll suggest in making it lighter to save Ram space and minise battery usage.
@exisapps
Hey! Just what I'm looking for.
I have a suggestion that would make this a much better widget.
It seems like you have already implemented local relative day/night, weather and seasonal effects.
BUT... What would make this a sure winner would be to implement a holiday season conscious widget.
For example, I'm posting this in October, so naturally I'm in the Halloween spirit.... Wouldn't it be nice if I turn on my phone and it greets me with a Halloween themed live wallpaper... Or... Just a set of static wallpapers that I specify. And... would be even BETTER if it CYCLES the images every hour or some configurable interval.
All these themed background/wallpaper would then be filtered over by your day/night effect and also weather.
You can even go off Google's calendar dates for holidays.
Maybe big holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas deserves a MONTH long theme and smaller holidays would span just that day... or a weekend holiday would only last 3 days.(Friday, Saturday, Monday) These day counts would coincide with people's work schedule... I know I get Labor day off, which is usually glued to a weekend.
If there is no specific holiday, then it can simply fall back to your current "generic season" background. No harm, no foul.
All of these should be configurable options, of course.
It's little automations like these that would put people into the festive spirits.
Weather Now 3.0
Weather Now 3.4
★ New widget layouts, backgrounds, colors and fonts
★ New weather icons
★ Battery, alarm clock and wind on some widgets
★ Improved automatic location
★ Fixed widget update issues
★ Added more backgrounds into gallery
This is how it look like!
Seems nice, I'll give it a go !

Hello, is it possible to allow the user to define different wallpapers based on weather or time? For example, I have three nearly identical wallpapers, but one is at night and another have snow on the ground instead of grass, it could be nice to take advantage of that
Regards

Weather widget for NST

It looks like the weather part of the old GenieWidget (News and Weather) gave up the ghost this past week
I guess the API finally changed for weather.com or the Weather Channel or where ever it came from. Anyway....I was using the weather widget for my homescreen. As clunky as it was, it also seemed sort of "right" for the NST. It didn't have a lot of microscopic information that you could not read and was just about the right size.
I'm currently trying out the unofficial NOAA app from the PlayStore but I'm not liking the widget too much. I've seen WeatherBug mentioned in the forum but the current version does not allow for manual location entry and the search function, like that of the old Market app, does not work (in fact the interface looks exactly like that for Market...).
So....does anyone have a weather widget they like?

Try Gismeteo Lite!
I haven't tried its widget on my Nook since I removed desktop-like launcher. However it states Android 2.0+, so it should work.
If you don't like it, there is a handful of weather widget apps sorted on 4pda forum.

Thanks for the tip! I've been trying out Aix but the little hourly graph is pretty silly as a weather widget. I like the looks of the Gismeteo widget except for the "+" sign in front of the temperature. I'm sure that's meaningful somewhere but it's not here and looks a little silly. Still, I'll see if I get used to it. Meanwhile I'll have a look at the list.
And the winner is.......
Weather Ace!!!! Amazingly complete little app, lots of customization options (fonts, "colors", backgrounds, transparency, etc.), a variety of different size/complexity widgets, different icon sets, different weather data providers (even a place to enter a WUnderground API key!). Very nice
The current market version is for Android 2.3 and up. I found the attached older version quite by accident while searching for weather widgets for Android 2.1.
Enjoy!

100% agree. I have a Nook setup solely as a weather station, using Weather Ace widgets to give me a handful of different temperatures and forecasts. It's pretty accurate, and with the right set of icons looks really nice on the Nook greyscale screen.
