Hello and merry christmas around the world!
I´ve a curious problem with my z1, mentioned this a few days ago:
There is a grey line in the soft key part, i can see it not all the time but during bootanimation for example. Don´t know if this was on my unit since the first day but i´ve posted 2 pictures where you can see what i mean.
While looking in front of the display it is not very easy to see but if the view angle is from above down i can see the grey line...
Maybe it has to do with the background lightning or something else?
I´m not sure what i can do or if this is a hardware fault? What do you think?
If you want to know if it's a hardware fault or software, go to settings > about device > diagnostics > test device > Display, and see if there's any missing pixels or gray line.
Regards,
~J2C
Mine is the same, and it seems to be hardware related (probably because the display backlight is mounted there ?).
P.S. : If you want to test yours, open the Service menu (dial *#*#SERVICE#*#*) -> Service tests -> Display and tap to change colors (wait for the on-screen buttons to disappear to be able to see that area).
Tested with the Service menu, when screen is colored its hard to see but with black and grey screen colors its there. But ok, i'm not alone

Yep, it is visible only on a dark background (black or gray) but don't think it's really something major to worry about.
I wonder if others have this issue ?

Maybe a batch issue ?
What does your serial number start with ?
Mine starts with BH909... (you can find the serial number in Settings -> About phone -> Status and scroll to the bottom to see Serial number)
It seems that this batch also has the yellow hue issue (discussed in this thread).
My device is BH90459 but since the first day in my opinion the screen colour is very good, nothing yellowish

Me neither on mine, the screen is just gorgeous.
I hope the screen can do better when the white calibration comes in next fw update
I had exactly the same issue. It's a hardware issue for sure. I returned the phone under warranty and got a replacement which has'n got that problem any more.

Ok, so I've to contact the Sony store Berlin, the place where it was bought. But I think this will only go the long way, send in for repair, not a direct replacement. Bought the device there at the first launch day...
They also told me they wanted to repair my Z1, but i insisted on replacing it and i made a written request where i inserted some statements of the warranty law in my country and i've got a replacement un 10 days. My advice is to insist on the replacement.

First of all.. I tried every single combinations of roms. From GB to ics. From custom kernel, rom, recovery to originals. Different kinds of original firmwares. It always happens. My device is 13 month old but I lost the bill. So Samsung won't repair it.
The problem is that every minute or two or three the touchscreen doesn't respond for a second and sometimes just a part of the touchscreen react. It's really annoying when I am chatting. While I wrote this it happened 3 times. Any suggestions or ideas to lead me in the right way?

Then it must be a hardware problem -> service? Dont you have any big/deep scratches on the digitizer? Have your SGS been disassembled before?
No dissambling no scratches. Just normal mini scratches that you see if you hold it against strong light
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9001 mit Tapatalk 2
It's definitely a hardware problem. Maybe a bad contact from touchscreen to circuit board.
Somone do know the rights that i have for warranty? Because my Device is 13 month old and its not stolen (I can prove it by letting the police check its IMEI S/N) and every newer device got a 24 month warranty. i got the original package and everything. i only lost the bill because of house moving. Its Samsung Germany. In their terms they say, they need the bill. But come on its a paper, you could easily loose it. I know it is my fault, but i really take care of such things. Everyone moved their house one time and know what could happen to things
If somone got a clue it would be nice, otherwise: my fault..**** happens..sell on ebay as broken....save money for some month... buy new device :crying:
edit: btw.... its has official launched in July 2011, so it can't be 24 month old
a gentle bump. gentle and quiet... just how u like it :silly:

I've noticed recently an issue with my Xperia Z USB port cover cap. It is showing signs of being damaged.
At first, it feels lose and dosn't have that strong closing any more. And recently it started not to close well and shows a bump, not flat with the surface. I always knew this would happen because of all the plug in and out of the charger/microUSB cable.
I wonder if any of you guys has experienced this with the USB or other port's caps. The phone is on warranty so I'm thinking, since this is a waterproof phone, that it should be fixed by Sony. Now I wonder if they will consider this a defect or bad use of the device and charge me for the repair.
What's your experience on this?
I can only confirm that I have the exact same issue.

So how did you fix it? I can find a new cap easily. Even though I have warranty to fix this by Sony I would like to know your procedure.

Ok the only hard thing is to get the cap out of the phone.
You need to go in the small hole over the gap with something thin and stable, then you need to push the cap down and while doing this you need to carefully pull it out. There is a barb at the end which shouldn't get stuck in the phone, so don't pull too much.
It can take a bit up to 15 min but it's worth it. There's no need to sent it in repair becoz the phone's away 2 weeks then.
The input of the new cap is easy and goes itself.

I ordered my XZ the launch week along with the dock... In fact I received the dock before the phone. I also use Airdroid to transfer content to my phone for convenience reasons mainly. So, my usb flap has been opened like 20 times maximum to do some flashtool sessions or emergency charges out of home, and it still closes and feels like brand new.
Definitely after reading threads like this I feel buying the dock was a very, very good idea.
No problem here I have been using both dock and usb since i bought the phone 8 month ago and the cap is still flat.
can you please a youtube video of this procedure??

So I have to make a hook with cooper or wire to pull old flap out? And then just insert new one in?

Normally you don't need anything, you only need to pull carefully.
The thing is you need to know how the flap is build, the barb shows up.
You may need to find out yourself how to do it best.

I've got a set on order and will let everyone know how I did it. I was thinking that a thin sewing pin down the hole on the side the barb was on might do it, if I feel too nervous just pulling, thinking it might snap off.
Please provide step by step pictures! ?

Hey, I have a problem so if anyone knows what is up with my screen please help.
So I recently started getting strange dots on screen, only on dark wallpaper or background.
If I do the screenshot, you can't see them but they can be seen only on phone. If it is turned off then nothig.
My phone hadn't fell down or been in contact with water.
I don't know what is the problem? Did anyone had the same experience?
If i try to change my screen, should I change the digitizer or?.., what are the prices, is it profitable?
Please help.
Sounds like dead pixels. You should be eligible for warranty repair if you take your phone to a service center.
You cant see them in a screenshot because its a hardware problem.
Hi,
this Problem i have with all huawei phones. Its not a dead pixel. I think he mean not a dot ... Its a circle.
I give my p6 into repair and it was okay. But my p7 and my girlfriends p7mini have it too. I live with this issue. Repair time of my p6 was 6 weeks!
I think thats the result of music in the badroom ?

Hello all, I am from India. The bottom half of my screen cracked and is not responding, the upper half works fine.
I tried contacting Sony for help, and they are asking 80% of the phones cost to fix it. Not exactly fixing, they wud give me a new ZR at 80% of the cost.
Should i go for third party screen replacement?, have no idea how reliable that wud be, but seems the only option right now.

I wouldn't suggest going for 3rd party replacement as the Z series has a very complicated assembly, there is a REALLY high chance that you would end up having a completly dead device

It should be fine to do that, as long as you make sure it's a place you can trust; make sure they're selling you the actual original display unit, rather than a Chinese knock off. I've had mine replaced twice, and the phone always worked fine afterward. The display is quite delicate, though; after the third shatter, I replaced the phone itself, because it was more cost efficient. [emoji13]

Last time I checked, you could find them on ebay.in, amazon.in, and AliExpress.
