Hello all,
I bought a GS4 yesterday and sold my brother my note. I received my UAG case today and have no need for it. So I am going to give it away. I don't really know who im going to give it to, but post something here that is cool or funny and if I like it the most, you get the case. I'll decide Sunday and send it out Tuesday.

You could gift it to your brother.
Two hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem to be breathing and his eyes are glazes. The other guy whips out his phone and calls the emergency services. He gasps, "My friend is dead! What can I do?" The operator says "Calm down. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is a silence, then a gun shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says "OK, now what?"
A woman gets on a bus with her baby. The bus driver says: "That's the ugliest baby that I've ever seen. Ugh!" The woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her: "The driver just insulted me!" The man says: "You go right up there and tell him off – go ahead, I'll hold your monkey for you."
Already asked if he wanted it and he doesn't.

Husband takes the wife to a disco.
There’s a guy on the dance floor giving it large – break dancing, moonwalking, back flips, the works.
The wife turns to her husband and says: “See that guy? 25 years ago he proposed to me and I turned him down.”
Husband says: “Looks like he’s still ****in celebrating!!

My gfs uncle just got a note 2 and doesn't have a case. I'm sure he would like it :good:
So apparently people think that I am trying to BS people here. I won't call anyone out but I have gotten two or three messages. I didn't take that image from anywhere other than my table. Please see attached for a completely unnecessary proof picture.
I'm just enjoying the jokes!
I already have a uag case but I'd love a second one for a mod idea I'm dying to try but not willing to risk on my current case!

Hmmm, something funny. OK. I'm sitting outside at 5am, and the sun is blazing down already, while I am trying to send this message out over a horrible 50kb WiFi connection here at FOB Salerno Afghanistan. I will never complain about high speed internet access again! LoL.
Fingers crossed!

These are pretty good, keep 'em coming. I can tell you that the ones that are simply asking for it probably won't win. Be a little bit creative folks . And to the gentleman above; Android > iPhone is what you meant. I'm sure it was a simple error.
Its was actually pretty funny joke...
So an Android, a Blackberry, an iPhone, and a Windows Phone walk into a bar. Only one gets a Beer.
.... Okay I lied.
Only Androids can walk so none of the others were there at all.
Already got UAG case, but might as well post a funny one just heard the other day. ***Warning*** its R-rated and some might find it offensive, but we are all adults and should have some sense of humor
So this guy walks down the beach and sees a beautiful girl lying down on the sand without arms and legs, crying. He approaches her and asks why is she crying? She replies "I'm very sad because I never been effed before". The guy looks at her, carefully picks her up in his arms, and... throws her right into the water saying "Now you are really effed".

I don't know...all the iPhones that disappear from the bars, I think an iPhone could be there.
How cool is that..
Samsung have inadvertently build in an anti-theft device in the Galaxy gear for your Phone...
How... Just leave your phone in another room and start to walk away from it... Voila... Gear vibrates to say it has lost connection.

well, that doesn't stop the thief from stealing your phone, does it?
Yes it could stop the thief if you realize you left your phone behind and retrieve it before the thief. I was thinking same thing. Not a long range on that Bluetooth. Actually wish it had a hair longer range. Can't go upstairs with watch if phone charging downstairs. Would kind of defeat the anti theft feature...heh.

you can just power off the device, even when it's locked. just tried it on mine.
So just before Christmas I bought a second hand Gear from Gumtree. Looked as new and works fine.
My wife, just shakes her head at me and keeps asking 'why'. Yes, like many of us on here, I do have a thing for gadgets.
She doesn't see the point of notifications etc on the watch.
Anyway, while having a meal in her parents house we were at the dining table and I'd left my Note 3 over in the lounge. I had a call come in... Was one of my colleagues from work. I answered the call via the watch just to say I'm eating and will call back.
To my shock the wife said "I have to say... That's pretty Awesome like"
Made my day that did and thought I'd share.

Yea people do not understand until they actually experience the watch for themselves. Once I got my watch setup they I wanted I find myself relying on it more than the actual smartphone

My wife is not a big tech person either, but she sees the benefits, and so many people out in public have asked about the watch, even when it was just on my wrist, but unlit, that the "cool factor" is definitely there. The reviews do not mean anything, as some online are still "writing" about it not do proper notifications, even though that was patched a month ago for most.

Someone at my job asked me if it did anything that blew me away. Not really, but the convenience of it is remarkable. I like being able to initiate a call in my car without having to take my attention away from driving. Once connected, I simply switch the call Bluetooth through my radio. I like being able to reject a call while in a meeting. I also like people asking " Is that one of those computer watches?". I'm still stock. My geek squad (teenage sons) are going to help me with mods.
Loving it
I work in a luxury jewelry store. I'm the service manager and I'm frequently asked by clients to help them set their Patek Philippe, Audimar Piquet or jaeger lecoultre watches. We are talking $70,000.00 watches folks... everytime they see my Gear I get compliments!
Hi all...I'm looking to get a smart watch. I have been reading up a lot but still have more to go. This is the way I see it so far.
Original gear...can root and run a custom ROM.
Gear 2/neo. Can root but not much else at moment. I do like this one and the original. I like the fact you can reply to text and answer calls. Not sure how much support this will get.
Android wear. Seems to me to take full advantage you need to use Google now and I don't. I find it really drains my battery.
I'm still reading up on android vs tizen.
Am I looking at these the correct way? So far I prefer gear/gear 2 over android wear. Anyone have any input or correct anything I may have said that is wrong?

My thoughts are. You can buy a gear for $99 which i did it has a camera and i can answer phone calls with it.. what do i use it for? Well firstly as a watch second to see my calendar, step counter, i use as a phone dialer for me its quicker to find a contract and dial then pickup the phone rather than pickup phone unlock dial etc. I can't see myself talking into my watch just seems odd. As for Google wear more apps / better apps but twice the cost and not sure i can read exchange email on it.

I tend to agree with phil999, I have owned the original Gear since it rolled out. Answering calls on my watch has come in handy on a weekly basis. I don't usually initiate calls, but I am constantly grabbing a call when my phone is stuck in my pocket or sitting on my desk in another room. I use voice activation to both initiate and reply to text. Full exchange email viewing is great at work. For $99 you can not go wrong.
I was excited by the Android Wear watches as they were announce and info started leaking. Now that they are out and have initial reviews I am holding off on picking one up. I like the always on (this is a must in my opinion for a smart watch and sorely missing from the Gear), plus the way it integrates with Google Now. I myself don't use Google Now anymore as I did not get much value out of it, I know others do. There will certainly be a lot of Apps that start becoming AW capable, so I think in the next several months the list of apps will quickly outpace the relative meager list of apps we have for the Gear.
I dont know why Samsung did not just take the Gear 2 or Neo and turn it into the Live. I think the hardware (Camera/IR/Speaker) would have been a big hit for the AW platform. The way Sammy is pumping out smart watches it may be advisable to wait for the Live 2 as it will address feedback they receive on the Live 1.
So my advice is get something. $99 for a Gear 1 is a great way to experience your first smart watch. If you use and like Google Now, then grab a Gear Live. It does that slickly on your wrist and there is surely a ton of apps that will soon be compatible with it.

This is exactly what I did. I got a Gear 1 on SlickDeals (Refurb) for $99 and it just arrived yesterday. I will be honest though, it was HELL trying to get Tizen to connect to my Note 2 running Nebula but I finally got it running today. I really like Tizen even though it has less apps than Android. But be honest with yourself, how many apps are you going to use on a 2 inch screen? With Tizen you can check ALL your notifications as well as answer calls...plus take a quick picture...I can't tell you how many times something was happening & I wanted a pic of it but by the time I got my phone out it was too late.
I think $300 is too much for a smartwatch. I know some drop more than that on a regular watch, but considering you can get a high end phone on contract for less than that (or a Google phone for just over that) I think they are over priced.
First, decide what you plan on using the watch for. I bought mine on a whim when I saw the deal on SlickDeals. But I can see where it will come in handy now that I have it.
Edit

I want to thank all of you for taking the time to answer and give me your opinions. I greatly appreciate it. After reading I think your all right. I'm gonna look into the gear. I don't really use Google now at all. Tried for a few days. Didn't care for it and drained my battery. The main things i would like to do is receive notifications, reply to text, i guess with svoice, and i think answering calls would come in handy. I see the gear can also be rooted if I wanted to which I guess is a plus. I'm assuming most are running with stock TW? That will be the toughest thing..running TW. Been running custom ROMs forever. But sounds like it will be worth it.

If you want notifications you're going to have to update to Tizen. Stock, the Gear only let's you read notifications from the stock Samsung apps. So if you use Gmail or Handsent it will only let you know you have a message but you can't read it on the Gear. Tizen lets you choose what apps will notify you & you can read the notification on the watch...

I ran the Null Roms for a long time. Still miss the ability to run any launcher and customize everything, but I gave Tizen a shot about a month ago. I am happy with Tizen, functional, smooth, longer battery life, and it does what I need. With Null I could use the watch as a small full android device. I have come to realize that I want my watch to be an extension of android for notifications and convenience.
To be honest I have been wearing a Qualcomm Toq, I picked up on ebay for $100 for the past 3 weeks. I can voice respond to text, but with no speaker I cant answer calls on the watch. I can select answer call, but it answers on the phone (this does give me time to stand up and dig it out of my pocket). The always on and 4-5 day battery life plus wireless charging help to offset the one missing feature.
When one of the manufacturers puts a low power color display (Mirasol) on a Gear 1 / Gear 2 type hardware platform it will be the type of smart watch I am looking for.

I have been reading about Null and it does sound very cool. But after reading your response I think your right. I just want the watch the be an extension. The only draw back i guess is your kind of stuck with certain Samsung phones. I was reading a thread about getting it to work with other devices but seemed to be hit and miss. Im gonna go check out the watches again. If I was able to get the watch to work with a custom ROM and still have the features I need it would be a huge plus. Maybe I'll grab one and try it out.

Honestly I think Google Cardboard is more convenient and versatile. I disabled my VR service and use it as a Cardboard headset. It does feel comfy at least. Every time you take your headset out it resets everything. That's not ok. Not being able to set your orientation for laying down or slightly adjusting for comfort is not ok. Sure some apps allow that but it should be a system feature. But I didn't expect any less from Samsung since they so this with all their products.
You need to hold on the back button to pop up your profile and you can reorient the screen anytime you want in any vr app you want. I do it all the time when I feel like laying down during a movie
Love my VR headset. Was given a code to get about $50 worth of stuff from the store. Chose the entertainment pack over the game pack. Glad I did. Face Your Fear made me scream with the ghost story one. Very immersive and scary. Can't wait to make my two older daughters try it. Lol!
Also, everything hasn't reset for me when I take the headset off. It starts right back where I left off, but maybe it depends on the app as well. If an app cannot handle going to sleep and recover properly, then that's the app, not the VR headset. Android Apps have to be programmed to handle when they are put "to sleep" properly. If not, then most apps will just restart and that's on the application developer, not the VR headset. I only know this as I've learned Android App programming and that is one of the life cycles of an application that is the responsibility of the app developer.

That's strange. I got a card with the set from the VZW store. It was a scratch-off card. I then went into the Oculus store, redeemed the code and could pick between a game or an entertainment pack. I chose the entertainment pack which included ID4 and Life of Pi movies. It also included Affected - The Manor. Damn thing scared the crap out of me multiple times that I screamed. Ticked off my wife because she thought I hurt myself.
But I got them immediately. No wait, so maybe my deal is different?
