s-off not working with rumrunner?! - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have followed all of the steps required to get s-off with my HTC One running hboot 1.55 but no matter what I do it fails ever time. I have all of the necessary drivers installed and windows firewall is disabled (did that in services.msc) and I actually uninstalled Bitdefender so I have no firewall/internet issues. I am using a custom ROM...Viper 4.2.0. Any help?

Viper 4.2.0 is 4.xx based, hboot 1.55 implies a 3.xx based ROM, recommend ARHD 31.6 (which is 3.62 based) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023

I see...I will try that! I really want to try ARHD Google Play Edition..hence wanting s-off.
I tried an older version of Maximus which is the 3.4.10 Kernel version and it's 4.2.2 android version but this time I get the "FIX it FIX it" error message when trying rumrunner. I will try ARHD 31.6 and see if that helps..probably not but it's worth a try.

Installed ARHD 31.6...no dice, I still get error messages!

This is what I did to get S-off on HBoot 1.55...

I just used rumrunner on a hboot 1.55 without facing any problems.

I can't seem to get it to work another pc either. No windows firewall, no defender, no internet security program. It seems to fail after attempting to boot to adb....I get an error message that pops up in windows systray that says device drivers not installed even though they have been installed! Argh....I am going to try the method tobesedated suggested!

moonshine and htc mtp driver problem

I am trying to acquire s-off but every time it gets to testing adb connection it fails because the mtp driver will not install. I have deleted everything htc from control panel / remove programs...and tried everything else I could find researching the problem...then reinstalled newest htc drivers and I still cant get it to work.
I am running revolution (newest one), and I have an unlocked bootloader.
any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks
do you have htc sync installed? if not install it and you could try all in one toolkit

How did you reinstall the drivers? I had the same problem. I used a generic android host driver then because it could not start i updated the driver with the htc one. After it installed the correct drivers the adb started working. Youll know its good cuz when it boots itll try to load the mtp driver but it will fail. Youll still be able to view folders and files through windows though. It may not work first time but keep messing with it and it will.

[Q] Having Trouble with HTC One S-Off

Okay, so before i go ahead and post this, I'm well aware of where i should be posting it, but i'm apparently a new member and therefore cannot post in the HTC One Development section.
I'm using the T-Mobile HTC One (M7_ul) and i wanted to convert into the Google Play Edition. I took the OTA update from t-mobile that bumped me up to 1.27.531.11, and it took me about an hour to realize that t-mobile decided to block all ways to s-off with that update, and that i would somehow have to get back to .8. My bootloader is unlocked, with TWRP 2.5.0.0. and root. I flashed the Stock Sense 5 1.27.531.8 rom (although rather buggy, i keep getting errors with the phone program abruptly stopping, but its not an issue seeing as im not staying with this rom). Im under the assumption that if i did that, as long as my hboot was still 1.44, i'd be able to use Moonshine or revone to s-off. I tried both, and neither of them were a go. I keep getting an Error-2 with revone, and moonshine gets to Moonshining (10) and then says Error: dont drink and shine. Now i'm not a complete noob when it comes to unlocking and rooting HTC devices, but ive never decided to take that extra step to s-off. everytime i think i have it right, moonshine and revone give me errors. would someone please tell me what im doing wrong, or at least point me in the right direction? please?
Your phone was updated to .11 it's more than just the Rom that was updated, you just gotta wait. I do too my phone came with .11.

I see. so if i'm understanding you correctly, I can't just flash the .8 rom and do s-off, T-Mobile patched it and im screwed?
Yeah that's it, I've read that one person has got it to work but idk if they actually took the ota or not. There would be a workaround if we had an RUU for .7 or .8 but we don't. So I guess we just gotta wait for someone to figure something out.

that's why you can't, you should not have posted in dev section (and not here either but in Q&A) anyway did you try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2398717
You could use HTC dev unlock until then though, just reset everything when s-off does come? That's what I've done and I'll just use s-off to make it look like nothing when (hopefully) it comes around again

I'm unlocked already, I'd just really rather convert completely to the GPE using the mid/cid change method, so if HTC decides to upgrade the One to KLP when its released, I won't have to go back to stock Sense 5 to get the OTA

ask (in the thread not via pm)the author of that guide if flasking a firmware package + stock rom would do and what other steps you would need to take
you can find the firmware packages here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2355814
It says in the op that the firmware zips are unsigned, which means I would have to be S-off to flash them.

so updating all you fellas, no method i tried worked I managed to find a stable rom for 1.27.531.7. my thought process was to flash to .7, unroot, reflash stock recovery, relock the bootloader, and try to install the .8 OTA. Didnt work. I tried to bypass, got the OTA .zip from my storage, rebootRUU and flash the OTA firmware. Didnt work either. The progress bar hung at about 75%(i tried this 6 times, same result). so i unlocked the bootloader again, reflashed twrp 2.5.0.0 and had planned on just restoring the nan i made. I didnt realize that when you flash a RUU, even if it doesnt finish, it still formats your /sd/data, so backup was gone, by this point i had already done the wipe expecting it to be there, so through all this, i ended up stuck in twrp with no OS, and for some reason the ADB sideload feature didnt work so i couldnt push a .zip to the phone. after an hour and a half of frantically searching, i just decided to run the .11 official RUU, so after 14 hours, im back to where i started. Wayyyyy more trouble than its worth. just gonna flash a stock rooted 4.3 GPE rom, and when HTC and T-Mobile decide to stop screwing around and push the 4.2.2 update, ill just reflash the RUU.
Thanks for all the help, gents.

Dude, you were doing some serious stuff to your phone, you have to slow down a little. I recommend reading as much as you can before you attempt anything you just did. The reason I am saying this is that, when flashing firmware, the progress bar always sticks at about 75%, that is normal, then you reboot and it finishes the install. You probably got that firmware from the OTA you're talking about installed and didn't know it.

[Q] Sprint HTC One - no os, can access fastboot and recovery

So I have a Sprint HTC One and I tried flashing a ROM that was for "all other models" and after I flashed it kept on boot looping. So then I wiped everything not thinking about deleting the other ROMs I had on the phone to restore it with. So now I can access fastboot and recovery(twrp 2.6.1.0) but I can't mount an OTG, I can't use adb, and I cant flash through fastboot. I honestly don't know what to do from here so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you can access recovery you need to adb sideload a rom. You can find o ut how to do that here.
If that doesn't work for you (which I suspect it won't) then you will need to take your phone back to stock by applying RUU. there are several ways to do that. Let me know if you need that information and I'll post it here for you.

Uninstall your HTC drivers. And install the universal naked drivers http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2263822
Make sure you don't have HTC sync installed, disable any anti virus and firewalls and try to sideload again.
There are ways to RUU on 1.31 but that is way too much hassle when all you need is to install a Rom.

Did you get it figured out? You have to install the drivers manually. If you don't know how, then I would google search "how to manually install device drivers" otherwise you can just use the drivers that install when you install HTC Sync. They work just as well.
What you need to do if adb does not recognize your device is fastboot flash TWRP 2.5.0.0. The older version works. Then you will be able to use adb and you can follow all the steps I outlined here.

For a basic user with only one device, what about them isn't adequate? From everything I have read about them the only benefit is the multi-device capability. The fact that you get the sync program is undesirable, I completely agree, but it does seem to be the simplest way for basic users to access the drivers.
I am truely interested in the differences, as I have read this entire post and not found much enlightenment.
Thanks for the knowledge

Hmmm. I'll have to keep an eye out for that. I wonder if the difference in drivers would affect adb recognizing TWRP 2.6.1.0. I have seen a lot of people who have to go back to TWRP 2.5.0.0 to get adb to work.

Tried to install another rom, semi bricked.

I rooted and installed a custom when I bought the phone when it just came out, rom everything was working well, got bored wanted to upgrade to that kitkat so i went on here and thought that bulletproof room looked kinda neat tried to install it and for whatever reason it failed. so I tried wiping everything and went into recovery mode and tried installing it via sideload after it was done it said it had no OS installed. I've tried to wipe again and tried installing android revolution thinking it was just the rom, it freezes at the installation screen I read around the forums and nothing seems to help. So i came here asking for help. I know you guys are geniuses, help a brother out!
Tried again
So I tried using sideload again, successfully installed bulletproof ROM, It still says No Os installed when I go to reboot it after the installation.
Using hasoon2000's aio tookit to try to flash factory ruu, but no matter what i tried the device can't be recognized, tried uninstalling the device and installing the htc drivers, Also tried letting windows update look for drivers.

i didn't know there was a bullet proof rom, i know uf a bullet proof kernel, anyway either one is not for the sprint phone, that's what caused your problems, only way to fix is to RUU, and don't flash roms from any other forum unless it STATES IT HAS SPRINT SUPPORT.

Still didn't work after I locked and did the ruu through the cmd prompt, so I tried using the AIO also didn't work, got frustrated and drove an hour to a sprint store that had technicians. the store around me don't have "technicians". it took him about 10 mins. My htc one is fully functional again.
Bet all he did was run the 4.3 RUU from HTC....I personally would have tried that. The other thing that is a possibility is the phone you got back is not your old phone.

[Q] Flashed GSM ROM (on accident!), restored Nandroid but resets every 45s

Okay. So I'm on HBOOT 1.44, S-OFF, and I was running a ViperROM from about May until yesterday when I decided to move on up in the world. So I download Android Revolution HD (both of them after realizing I hit 41.0 instead of 31.6) and put it on it. However, I ended up making the same mistake again and put 41.0 instead of 31.6 onto the phone. Once I realized it (I could not boot), I wiped and restored my nandroid backup. However, now I can barely get 45 seconds out of the phone before it decides it wants to restart itself. Even after factory resetting that backup, same issue.
I've tried getting it to be recognized in ADB, but the window for it is so small that I can't transfer anything. In TWRP (2.6), the phone is stable, but I can't see it to transfer anything on my computer, even after mounting. Any suggestions?
Apologies if I don't make any sense or respond for a long time. I've been up for a bit trying to get this fixed before work.

Thanks! If I am on Windows 8.1... do you think I use Client Hyper-V to VM Win7 to make that method work? I must be honest, the only time I've VM'ed was to play old Windows95/98 era games...
