I've been using Straight Talk for about ~6 months now. I just recently flashed Paranoid Android's BETA 2 build that was released an hour or so ago (I didn't know they provided a nice list of preset APN's for you to use). Anyway, used the preset Straight Talk APN settings and noticed my network speeds weren't as fast as usual.
This may, or may not, be common knowledge, but the APN settings I've been using differ from that of Paranoid Android's preset Straight Talk APN settings. They also resulted in a significant increase in network speeds.
Paranoid Android APN: APN type: default,supl,mms
My APN Settings: APN type: default,supl,mms,internet,hipri
Here's a screenshot of the speed tests using the two different APN Settings. Paranoid Android's is on top, mine is on the bottom:

I apologize if this is common knowledge. I did get the APN Settings that I use from someone on XDA, however, I was not aware of the difference in performance by adding internet and hipri to APN type - I simply just always added it.
Hello,
We already have a Straight Talk thread where people are posting speed tests and APN's

Also i run a little script with netstat showing me the stablished connections and finger the results, all of them was to differents names owned by google like this
Code:
Address lookup
canonical name eze03s05-in-f17.1e100.net.

Domain Whois record

Also during night I used a process watchdog but none process was alerted.
Note: This doesn't happen in DATA Mode, but I'm shure suppresed sync of google and other accounts. I noted this conduct about 2 month or more, even, I guess, with the original operator rom.
What do you think about this behaviour?
Thanks in Advantage!

Hello,
I wonder what is Acess Point ? I was checking the settings on my phone, and i found this option... But i dont know how i can use that.
See the image bellow:

Translating from portuguese to english, in the purple letters, it says "Active".
Do i need to change this status ? If so, how ?
It's probably either WiFi network selection, or the Internet Sharing mode (I slightly doubt the latter, as that shows a bunch of other UI). It might be a special app to add hidden WiFi networks, perhaps?
Also, what phone is this, and what entries in Settings is this "access point" item between (what above it, what below)?
This looks like the Nokia App "Access Point +" and afaiu it is used for selecting network operator profiles.
Access Point is a feature in WP8 that has evolved from WP7 cellular (but just the data connection).
If some1 is using several SIM cards, it is very annoying to set up the phone for Internet and MMS especially if some1 doesn't know all the parameters. So AP+ helps us by saving all the data neccesery for setting up the device. Once another card is in, one simply has to select the network profile he wishes, and boom, the phone is instantly set up.
Also, one may mannualy add MMS and Internet parameters to the phone, and select that profile to use, instead of the default one.
Device: Nexus 6
Carrier: AT&T
Rom: Chroma
Which I actually highly recommend to all
Issue: MMS seems to not be downloading onto my phone on any messaging app. On my Xperia Ion, I would use an application called Textra to message. It would allow me to obtain MMS and SMS by selecting a setting which toggled data temporarily to download the MMS.
This option is no longer there for the Nexus and the one closest to it simply toggles my wifi off.
I am not sure how to receive MMS in any messaging app and was wondering what individuals who have MMS have done to fix this.

How do you get to the APN settings menu. I'm on Verizon running cm12 and I don't see Access Point Names as one of the options under mobile networks.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Ive been having the same issue, i cannot get mms to arrive on my phone. apn is as listed above, but no dice.
Any ideas?
frank
Delete all unused apns

Delete all unused APNs and verify that your app is on the correct MMSC.
To OP, you could have asked this in the ROM thread if you wanted to
I'm on T-Mobile and my MMS has worked since day one. I haven't noticed any problems.
And thank you for recommending the ROM.
I just purchased an unlocked S6 active from the online market in Indonesia. everything works well expect 4G LTE network.
it only showed 4G icon behind the signal bar, after I checked the network on sim card status, mobile network type was on UMTS or HSPA, screen shot below

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
then I also check the network status via *#*#4636#*#*, it still the same, network only connected to UMTS/3G and HPSA/3.5G
when I try to change the network type from LTE/GSM auto (PRL) to LTE Only, the signal completely disappeared.
and the network name on the sim card status changed to Unknown
I also change band via *#2263# but nothing.
I'm using Telkomsel, my previous phone (Mi4c) has no problem with LTE network. Telkomsel band was 900mhz/1800+ https://www.frequencycheck.com/carriers/telkomsel-indonesia
the S6 active supported 12 band inlcuding B3 1800+ and B8 900. https://www.frequencycheck.com/models/A3aR9/samsung-sm-g890a-galaxy-s6-active-lte-a
on paper, it should be worked
Is anyone has the same problem? or any solution to solve this?
anyone?
Did you try calling your service provider and asking for the apn settings? Also check that the provider that the phone was originally on doesn't handle LTE differently, and check if your service uses VOLTE, if it doesn't then you'll never get LTE in calls at least.
Hello, my name is Matias, I am from Argentina, I have this great phone. My question is the following, in my country 5G is being implemented little by little, but until now I have not been able to see/connect to said network, the maximum that appeared on my phone was 4G+, guided by this post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/is-your-5g-working-in-uk-on-x30-pro-china-variant.4546301/) I realized that I have the GSM/WCDMA/LTE (PRL) option selected by default and below I have the NR option (and its derivatives) searching a bit I found that the acronym NR refers to New Radio and is based on 5G, if someone could give me more info I would appreciate it.
Thanks
p.s.: in the mobile network part I have activated the 5G option (recommended)
