[Q] How to install only Google Play - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I just installed CyanogenMod 11.0 by ADC-Team - Beta 3 (ION) - Kernel 3.4.x
Of course, as any other ROM, it doesn't come with Google Play installed.
The problem is that I had to install the Gapps provided in the thread and all the ****ty apps that came with it (hangout, google search - which I can't delete btw, google+ etc).
Of course, the google apps always try to use data, see my location etc. Even tough I close GPS, they are still waking my phone from deep sleep sometimes and mainly annoy me with their privacy invasion (like google location report). I deleted some of them (including calendar).
Question: Is there a way to install only Google Play and use my Google user to backup my app data, people details etc. without having to install the full package?

Just install Google play store app
this does not mean you have escaped from google as you need gmail, noway cause you will also have play store services and may need others too, here is a good read for you [INFO][Who is Spying & Monitoring you] Google removes privacy feature from Android .

[Q] [Google Edition][4.3] Phone not showing up in Play Store My Devices

I converted my HTC One from stock to the Google Edition 4.3, completely (CID, firmware, ROM). Everything on the phone works fine including the Play Store 4.3.10 and the Google services framework.
However in the My Devices section of the Play Store on the web my phone does not show up - just the previous installed one, which has not been seen online for a week or so.
The curious thing is: when going to the Android Device Manager the phone shows up correctly (the old one, and the new install).
I tried the following to resolve this:
Clear data of Google Play, Google Service Framework and Download management
Change my Android ID
Downgrade the Play Store and framework
Change the kernel from default to faux123
Remove and re-add my Google account
Try with different Google accounts
If someone has more suggestions I'd really appreciate it.
Being able to see my device in the Play Store in my browser enables me to push apps to the phone. Additionally, I can join communities in Google+ to enable beta channels of some apps.
Hi @sanderg !!
How did you solve this?
I am exactly in the same issue

I believe these steps should fix the issue:
- Go to Apps, All and Force stop and delete cache of Google Play, Downloads and Google Services Framework
- Delete your Google account, reboot your phone, add it again
- Open the Play Store
- Reboot again
Note that clearing data of the Google Services Framework is normally not recommended but in this case it's already broken so you have to fix it.

How to get a lot of RAM in S5830i

Hello guys I am here today to give a possible aspect to get rid of laggyness caused by severe RAM usage by our "Left-Behind" phone S5830i.
First of all I'd like to mention the script by Hitesh2626...It helped me a lot to remove unwanted applications from my stock rom. But then after I saw I still was having lags though I had all small apps unlike Messenger and Whatsapp. And the reason was "Google Play Services" which took 39 mb of my RAM though all google services were unchecked by me.I know many people having the same problem. Then here's the solution:
Just go to play store and download "Disable Services" and give root rights
now open it and from the list select google play services
u'll see 99 services there -_-
just deselect the running ones(those will be in blue fonts) just like:gcmservices or nlplocationservice
Here you go...after deleselcting they'll become red and they'll never run anymore but still u'll be able to use other google play services without uninstalling it.
I am new to the xda so help me giving thanks ....IF MY HELP REALLY HELPED YOU

Here are some of my suggestion's
1) Remove all bloatware
2) Remove all ringtone's and whatever tone's ...leave only ringtone .
3) Delete all battery.qmg in media folder and also delete spamsung's bootanimation .
4) flash a custom kernel
5) flash Adrenaline engine and cosmic engine
Feel the smoothness ..and yeah .! question should be asked in Q&A not in general section.
I wouldn't recommend you stopping any of the GPlay Services. They are there for some reason. And the reason GPlay Services is using much RAM is that other apps use these services. So if you disable them some apps will not work as expected.
Then how cm 7 or other cm roms dosen't require G-apps install for their working???

Because you can still run apps without GApps? Android does still work without GApps.

Bro, Google Play Services not only provides location services but also updates Google apps and apps from Google Play, provides core functionalities like authentication to your Google services, synchronised contacts and access to all the latest user privacy settings, speeds up offline searches, provides more immersive maps and improves gaming experiences.. So I completely agree with @Android-fany on the fact that disabling them can make certain Google apps crash or not work as expected. You might be able to save your battery life but at the cost of some core apps.

Frankly, I have very low ram consumption on my Stock rom even with Google Play Services turned on. So I don't think there is any need for me to disable it considering how often I use these services. BTW this will surely affect those people who needs to use location services, Google play gaming platform, etc. But then again, you can always enable these services when you need them. I'm glad to hear everything works smooth. You know you learn something new everyday

google apps without the whole google play services ?

Hi XDA,
Until last night, my phone was almost a brick ! It was impossible for me to use keyboard, start a game, watch a video, or even answer a call !!! What a pity ! :crying:
I looked into it to find the source of the problem.
I deleted some apps, made some space on internal memory (who knows ?), I converted some updated system apps, to put it back in system partition using Link2SD.
I did it with [email protected]#!$%G google play services and, I lost the app during the process (it happens sometimes, especially with google PS)
I restarted my phone and surprise The brick became a rocket :victory: my phone is no longer lagging as before !!! So, I tried to find why. It was google play services. It is no longer installed on the phone since Link2SD "lost" it.
Now, I have another problem : I can no longer open google apps. I only use the store, youtube, maps, and the contact sync service. :good:
So, here is my question : Is it possible to get rid of google play services without getting rid of associated apps like youtube, or store (others are very easy to change)

Google play services is a mandatory part of GApps, it's included in all variants of GApps.
You can use pico GApps if you want the basic stuffs. Or you can use the ROM without any GApps at all of you prefer.
And don't freeze or remove any apps if you don't know what it does.
OK.
I may put too much Smiley's in my first message...
I already know about gapps. My question is not about how much gapps I want on my phone, but how to still use it without gplay service.
This is the only apps that "need" another app to launch !! I don't need a Facebook play service to use Facebook or messenger apps ! Do you !?
So why gplay service is so important to launch apps !? It don't seems to be an all launcher.. It is not an account manager..
So waiting for a real answer, I started to look at aptoide to replace play store, because I know my question has poor chance to be answered.
I think I'm going to dive again in my YouTube & VLC RSS project to continue receiving updates from channels I follow without any YouTube app to run.
OK so if it actually works great on every others phones and I am the only one to have troubles with Google services feel free to tell me.
Don't worry about me freezing apps, I exactly know what I can freeze.

Hi !
Thanks for this useful answer. I was on the dev's thread yesterday. Unfortunately, it does not work with every apps. Still, its a useful module.
I'll put a link once I'm at home...

YES !!
Take a look at here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/mod-app-run-google-play-services-1-0-t3054115
But it can't run every apps.
I'm surprised about this subject. I am not a developer, but if I were, I would try to create a tweak, an app, a module, I don't know something that could help people not to use Google play services app.
Disable Service list of Disabled Services

Discontinued; it is better to completely remove Google Play apps instead of disabling per app services.
I've been using Yalp Store (+FDroid's UnifiedNLP for location services) for downloading official google play apps.
Use this: https://opengapps.org/
I have this N910C and I've rooted it to achieve battery over performance because I mainly use it for Internet Browsing and Calls/Text.
Mostly for Google Play Services.
Well it's for more battery life and I don't even use much google apps.
And of course... You need to disable the receivers using SD Maid or whatever app to stop it from reactivating or doing unnecessary wakelocks..
I am still updating this thread because I am still disabling/enabling service from Google Play Services for optimal battery use.
- I don't sync anything to my Google Account upon using the list below, even my contacts.
- The list below is strictly connected to this thread.
So here's a list of my disabled services, take note that I've frozen most of the bloatware/system apps that I do not use.
For the Google Play Services, all Google Play Services' receivers are disabled using SD Maid.

Note
The tests that made were:
1- Login normally via Accounts using my Google Account
2- Sync things; open Store, open Google Service, sync Data
3- Reboot
4- Disable Services
5- Do #2, check for *Google Services has stopped* thing
6- undo if error shown
7- Do #4 again then #5 and #6
8- clean up with SD Maid, do #3
9- do #6
10- Log-out Google Account
- repeat until until satisfied, just don't ever forget to check (it might enable) and disable Google Play Services receivers
I will continue to update this thread whenever I got to disable things
Please remember that I sync manually and I don't use any other Google apps (like the maps), only the damn Google Play Store!
So disable at your own preference
Can you upload backup form this disabled services?
Thank bro

Oh, not yet.
The list above is still breaking the Google Play Store when the Services and Store's data are cleared.
I'll do tests first before uploading.
@Laicure
Waiting for your upload!!!
Thank in advance

does this apply/relate to the packages listed under Android System when u click the battery stats? on my phone, Android System uses alot of battery and I want to greenify some of the packages.
Great post,
You know wich service uses whatsapp for receive messages? Im having problems only with this apps, if i disable google services completely after a few minutes i stop receiving whatsapps
Maybe the google clous service (gcm) is related to this?

How is MicroG on the 3T?

Hi all.
I am considering to replace my vanilla LineageOS with the MicroG version.
I aim at prolonging the battery life and get rid of Google's Play Store Services, while keeping a bunch of Google apps: Gmail, Hangout and Maps.
Any experience? Anything relevant to report?
I am asking as the installation will likely require me a full reinstall (nothing I fear of, though).
https://github.com/microg/android_packages_apps_GmsCore/issues/467 You can't sign into google accounts in apps using the modern API. Google maps should work since you don't need to sign in and some gapps not updated to the new apis like google inbox too.
Hi I am using Nlos with microg for sometime now . whats not working out of my experience .Gmail ,google maps(need to use older version) alternatively use maps go ,backup on viber WhatsApp(if you want to use a backup you need to use older version again) some apps that use map api from Google
You will gain some battery but I believe microg has to do with getting free from Googles abusive practices and collecting personal information.
Google is collecting info of your location without your consent scanning your Gmail etc . (move away from Gmail that's my opinion)
Do a research of the apps you are daily using if and how they work under microg.
