[Q] Problem with odin not displaying phone - AT&T Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi xda!
Short version:
I tried rooting my phone, and now have these three lines diplayed:
RECOVERY BOOTING...
RECOVERY IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING
Set Warranty Bit: recovery
I have looked in the following threads for people with the same errormessage:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611635
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2617754
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2620592
And several more around the web in general.
The reason these don't help me is Odin doesn't display my phone, I've tried with odin 3.09 and 1.85, but neither displays my phone. I'm sorry to be bothering you with this problem, but I've come to the conclusion that someone more qualified than me might help.
If you are kind enough to try helping, here is some additional information about the phone, and the problem:
Samsung note 3 sm-n9005
I first tried this tutorial:
http://galaxynote3root.com/galaxy-note-3-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-3/
but meeting the problem that "install from zip" didn't apear at step 11, I decided to go for the auto version.
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/how-to-root-the-samsung-galaxy-note-3-xda-developer-tv/
and here, after flashing over the tar file with odin 1.85 and restarting, the explained errorscreen popped up. When connecting the note 3 to the computer with the same cable as previously, odin 1.85 and 3.09 are both unable to display that the phone is connected, giving me quite the issue when most fixes to these problems is moving over original software etc.
Here is the following fixes I have attempted:
restarting the phone
trying out 1.85 and 3.09 of odin.
connecting to a different computer, then trying those two versions of odin.
different buttoncombinations (they all just end up rebooting the phone to the errorscreen)
and now - asking qualified people for help, I am clueless.
Thanks in advance for any feedback!

Are you plugging the phone in first and than odin as administrator if that don't work reinstall usb driver u might have to factory reset in recovery and than install driver.

After trying this the problem remains the same, sadly:/ thanks anyway
Is creating a linux partition and trying with this "heimdal" program worth a shot?

First what you need to do is check your baseband version (settings>general>about---Baseband Verision). It will be the last 3 digits on the baseband. If it says MJ5 you can find www.kingoapp.com to root your Note 3 N9005A. Website takes a while to load but that is the easiest root method for the MJ5 note 3. The Mi9 note 3 can be rooted using the Odin method. Also make sure your phone has USB debugging enabled. To enable go to settings>general>about and tap your build number 5 times. Once you have done that hit the back button and go to developer options and check USB Debugging. You will also need to be in download mode. To get into download mode turn your phone of, Hold volume down, home, and power. Once it gets to a warning screen press volume up and plug into odin. You may also need to download the samsung drivers on your computer.

If kingo root don't help than yes only if you baseband version last numbers are mj5 you can go for heimdal follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715
if u cant get the files here's another link
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/110386-return-to-stock-mj5-works/
Before you start read a couple times
Good luck

Allright, lovely with some ideas I haven't tried myself yet, I will read a bunch about it first and then try it out.
Thanks a bunch for your responses, it is much appriciated!

[Q] amateur in need of help!

I followed instructions on a link via the cyanogenmod website, to try and get cm7 on my phone. The instructions were on a wiki website which I now know is not reliable!
I got to the stage "flashing cyanagonmod" to find out that the zip files had to be in the internal sd card BEFORE starting the whole process!
I can still access download mode and recovery. But my phone gets stuck on the "Samsung galaxy i9000" intro screen.
I tried restoring and factory reset but still no joy...
any help is very appreciated!
Download some odin flashable ROM, and flash that in download mode.
where do I find an odin ROM and how do I know which one to use?
corrected: samfirmware.com
If you want a custom rom, then look through here however your going to have to read which is odin flashable...
This is a guide and rom i have used myself. Click here
BTW this is obviously assuming you are on SGS I9000 the second link should be quite clear...
here's a nice link to finding stock firmwares and using Odin:

Thanks for your post. Only problem is ODin doesn't recognise when my phone is plugged in? i.e. there isn't that yellow box showing...help!
Ok so im guessing your trying the 3 button combo for download mode (vol up + home + power). Alternatives to force download is a homemade jig, which is easily obtainable from ebay for a relatively cheap price. Other ways you can try is holding the combo for as long as you can, some have reported it may even work after 3 mins. Another method is hold the combo and then whilst holding it insert the battery. Also the last method but have the usb plugged into with odin open, then put the battery in. Many many ways... just search
Is that what you mean or that you CAN get to download mode and Odin and the computer does NOT recognise when you plug it in. If this is try re-installing the drivers using kies, its under the tools menu. Try a different version of odin, plug phone in then try the combo (with battery already in, then without). Have you closed all Kies applications background processes? (use task manager in windows). Use another computer..
Also have you read this
Edit: Forgot to add, can you get into Recovery? Then use your nandroid backup which you should always do before flashing.. If you dont have a back up try use ADB to force download mode "adb reboot download"
Need to know what options you have available in-order to help, what can you do? Is there any response from your phone with pressing buttons or key combinations??

ODIN flash mistake...

Okay so I was flashing through ODIN, and I flashed through the PHONE section instead of PDA because for some reason I turn into Dolan Duck at 11 PM. Now ODIN won't get past "Setup connection..." and Heimdall gets an error when it attempts to "handshake with Loke". Switched to three different computers and it always acts the same, so I'm thinking I might have really jacked the ability to write directly onto the phone through the computer. Phone still powers on, but just boots to the AT&T world phone screen and stays there. No recovery mode so if I can have a way to fix this and get a kernel written onto my phone that'd be really great.

Hey hi,
1. By far the best way to go back to Stock ROM's :good:
2. I'm not sure if this is exactly the solution to your problem but hope it works.
- I've had problems with heimdall and odin, drivers not being compatible, the driver that is installed for heimdall doesn't seem to work with odin and if you try installing the driver to get the odin to work, heimdall stops working. So your best option would be to try this:
a. Go to the forum link above, download all the required files.
b. switch off your phone, wait for 3s, then hold the volume buttons "+" and "-" at the same time, you can just use your thumb, but those two buttons must be pressed at the same time, now hold it! Insert the usb connector from the laptop/pc to your phone via the micro usb slot. Wait for it.. and voila you are in download mode.
c. Now, if you are running Odin and if you HAVE the correct drivers, you will have the correct green/yellow indication when you use the software, which basically tells you that there is a "handshake" between the Odin and cappy.
d. Once this is done, you can follow the steps that you were planning to do, otherwise follow the steps from the thread posted above. one by one.
If you already have ROM's on the SD card, and you've already got CWM on the phone, you just need to go into recovery mode(hold the volume buttons and then hold onto the power button, it should work, otherwise give it another shot ), once in recovery you can install the new ROM using the normal method.
(a suggestion) Most people face problems coz the driver installed isn't the right one, so if you are using windows OS, and the drivers aren't detected, download the drivers again, go into device manager, completely uninstall the driver for samsung captivate, and install the one that is working.
Watch how it is done using one touch Odin3 --> here
If you are upgrading your ROM to ICS, after you flash the ROM, flash the Devil kernel for cappy, --> is a good one :good:
**Always remember to back up data**A clean install is always preferable**

Yeah the little box turns yellow in ODIN but it just hangs there at setup connection. I also, sadly, don't have recovery mode because my kernel flash is when it all went terribly wrong. I can connect to ODIN and Heimdall with no problem because I have the respective drivers, the problem just seems to lie in the fact that neither program can write to the device so it continually hangs.

quick question for clarification, the phone is in download mode and then u connect it to ODIN and when u hit start(to flash) nothing happens?
You could try this.
1. Install another version of Odin, or even the Odin one click with gb
2. Remove battery and cable connecting phone and PC.
3. connect USB to PC and then go into download mode and try flashing the new package.
Let me know if its still not working, i kinda had this problem, but i tried with different Odin packages, try to flash the one with the gb bootloader.
Yeah that's what happens. Its recognized and everything then just hangs at setup connection part really don't know what's up but it's kind of weird.
I really like have tried to change it like odin packages and everything but it just won't be read past set up connection. I just wonder if I messed up my partitions to the point of no return.

Need Help, Bricked SM-T900

I bricked my SM-T900 Wifi while attempting to root it. Can anyone help me get it un-bricked?
Here's a step by step list of what I did and what happened:
1. Turned on USB debugging mode
2. Downloaded and installed Samsung kies
3. Downloaded the file for SM-T900 from autoroot [dot] chainfire [dot] eu/ (it won't let me post outside links)
4. Turn off tablet, get into custom firmware installation mode by holding power, volume-, and home, then confirm the warning
5. run Odin (v3.07, came in the zip file)
6. plug in tablet, tablet showed up as a com port but did NOT show any other information. I don't know if it was supposed to show anything else but I hadn't though about that at the time.
7. Clicked on PDA and selected the file CF-Auto-Root-v2wifi-v2wifixx-smt900.tar.md5
8. Clicked start
9. Waited, it said it was doing something with cache, I don't recall exactly what it said
10. after about 3 minutes the screen looked wrong, all the pixels were different colors, (rainbow static?)
11. Waited about 10 minutes just in case that was not a sign of failure, then Odin reported that it failed.
Now when I press the power button, I get the screen that says "Firmware upgrade encountered and issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again"
I tried using that in Kies but Kies can't connect to my tablet any more. When I try to use Odin using the recovery with power, vol-, home, it detects that I plugged it in but when I try to click start it fails and nothing happens.
I have exact the same problem.
I have read many articles, who said it was easy to root.
That's not true !!!!.
Maybe because the tablet became an update today ?
What I did to recover the tablet: (phew !!!)
Download this bootloader:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2591013&d=1392923580
Connect to Odin and flash it.
A few seconds, it says OK, reboots and voila: there's your tablet again revived !!!!.

Unfortunately Odin fails before it manages to even connect to my tablet so I'm not sure it will work for me but I'll give it a try. It managed to connect before when I tried to flash the root files but now it fails every time. I'll update this when I get home and try flashing that.
Edit:
Got home, tried your fix. I am happy to report it worked and it only took a few seconds. Thanks!
Edit:
To anyone reading this thread, if you tried rooting your SM-T900 using the SM-T900 files for rooting, try using the SM-P900 files instead! I just tried that and it seems to be working fine.
I'm glad I could help. :good:
It's bad for your heart when you see that your expensive tablet is bricked.
Hello everyone. Where do I flash the bootloader in odin? Do I use PDA or Bootloader and do I need to check the bootloader update box? Just wanted to confirm before further messing up my tablet. Thanks!
Edit: Never mind, figured it out. Thanks for the help!
This method just worked for me. Flashed the bootloader with Odin after getting "stuck" and it booted right up.

What did you do exactly to fix it? I'm having the same issue. Just sits at screen and says:
ODIN MODE
Product Name: SM-T900
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Official
KNOX Warranty Void: 1
RP SWREV: A1
How do you use that recovery.img file?
For the top most problem flash cwm or TWRP recovery through Odin or through recovery mode then boot into cwm or TWRP recovery delete all files and install a supported rom.

it's 2022 & my T900 finally went into bootloop in model logo, does anyone know the real reason for this? is it hardware or software problem?
- I can flash any version via odin but still bootloops
- TWRP worked once after that can't get in anymore
- the only button working is for the download mode PWR + Vol Down
- before all this LED Stayed on until batt drained then bootloops
it's a good tab to watch movie while on a treadmill

AT&T SM-G730A ROM issues? Please Help!

I'm a newbie with the rooting and custom rom installation, I've actually never done one before attempting in on my phone a SM-G730A mini S3, I have searched online and was unable to find the factory rom for this device or instructions how to install.
I was able to root my phone using king root, Then I started removing all the factory programs that ill never used. It was great until a few days ago I removed 2 programs that affected my phone operates. It now gets stuck on the at&t screen when powering on, but the funny thing is that if someone calls me, the screen pops up for me to answer.
Issues with my phone: gets stuck on at&t screen, no home screen at all, only way to access apps is through S voice.
I first started looking into the custom rom because I wanted wi-fi calling since the phone signal is low on this phone. I appreciate any help on this. Thanks

I think you should reflash your current firmware version via Odin3. You can get stock ROMs from sammobile.com/firmware. You will lose your root access and you will get these system apps back what you deleted before.
I download it to my SD card and then what? excuse my newbie questions
those stock roms from sammobile youll need to flash via odin / heimdall

Firmwares from SamMobile are only flashable via Odin3 on your PC/Laptop. Move your downloaded firmware to your PC/Laptop and unzip it. Move the ...HOME.tar.md5 file to your desktop.
1. Now download Odin3 and install the drivers for your phone.
2. Open Odin3 as Admin to avoid errors or "Fail" messages while flash. (If you use Windows XP then open Odin like always) and make sure only "Auto reboot" and "F.reset" are checked.
4. Close all Samsung Kies process in task manager to avoid errors. (ignore this if you don't have Kies installed)
5. Tap on PDA/AP and choose the ...HOME.tar.md5 file (wait until Odin finish check the MD5 check sum)
6. Now on your phone. Turn off your device. Then hold volume down + home button + power button till you see a "Warning!!" screen and continue with volume up.
7. Connect your device to your PC/Laptop via USB.
8. Wait until Odin detect your device. (You will see a blue box) If your PC/Laptop install the drivers again then wait a moment.
9. If everything is OK then you can start flashing. (A flash process take up to 10 Min, so be patient)
10. Now your phone should reboot and you're done.
Don't forget you will lose ROOT access and you will get your system apps back what you deleted before.
DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Newbie Help
I am getting ready to do a first attempt at rooting on a Samsung S3 mini, G730A. I don't know how to get the Samsung USB driver onto the desktop because I'm not sure where it's actually located. I downloaded the Samsung Driver Zip and it's loaded on my C: drive but didn't find anything is there that seemed specific to that phone. I did locate what appears to be the generic Android device USB driver for this phone through Device Manager and put that on the desktop but not sure that is the one that I'll need when I go root. Any suggestions?
Thanks

You tried flashing the boot loader thru Odin am I right? Did you try flashing the whole Firmware thru Odin? Did you put the phone on Download mode? Remember to take the battery out then boot to download mode by pressing and holding volume down+home+power button for about 3 seconds then let them go, phone will boot into Download mode, the connect your phone to pc, then Open Odin, make sure the Odin :COM is on light blue meaning they are both communicating, then go to www.sammobile.com and download the latest firmware for your device model, and follow the instructions, it have to work, but your phone will be restored to factory, good luck, cheers:fingers-crossed:

It may be stupid question but did you flash 3 files ROM or just one file (PDA if I remember well)? If it was second option, then you shouldn't use PIT.

Why don't you just download KIES and run recovery through that it is much more simple and reliable

Kies doesn't register it... it just says connecting. I tried to kies 3 and 2.6 just to make sure.
It sounds like the issue is with your USB cable maybe try a different USB port preferred in the back of the system not one upfront. Make sure you have mock locations and USB debugging on. The only reason keys wouldn't detect your device is if the drivers are incorrect
There's a feature "Reactivation Lock" in security settings. Make sure it is unchecked. It is a security feature to prevent anyone from changing your system Rom.
