Hi all,
this is my first post so first of all I want to say how amazing this community is !!
I've installed gingerDX v018 just following the xda instructions and all has gone smoothly.
Anyways, I'm posting 'cause sometimes my x8 reboots by itself, usually during the night (each time I heard the logo animation alert ). I guess the timing is not significant, but it happens quite every night.
Do you have any idea of what could it be?
There is some x8 log I could read from or may I use the terminal emulator app?
P.s. I didn't flash the kernel, so I'm still using the stock K. No overclocking apps (not yet).
Do a full wipe. The GingerDX thread says there's no need to do a full wipe after update, that must have confused you.
if what Chris95X8 said dosnt work then your stuck for a while until someone makes a -all-in-one sorta fix. i used to have this problem and after a while it rebooted itself and it got stuck in a bootloop so do the full wipe as soon as posible imo.
i did a full wipe and now its back to normal. no more auto reboots either now.
if that dosnt work then reinstall the rom.
I thought I did. I mean, after the installation I did a full wipe to avoid reboot looping I experienced during my first time installation.
My installation steps actions:
- installed v018 zip
- installed extra zip
- ran Factory Reset (full wipe) option
- ran Wipe cache partitionoption
- reboot phone
Did I miss any steps?

Thank you.
In the meanwhile this w/e I'll try to disinstall one app at a time, to see if there are some conflict. It has rebooted just 5 minute ago.
i read that u can try to use another memory card for awhile to check if the problem still happening.
i got the same problem too, and i tried using another memory card but it still happens. lastly, i sent it to the shop and the shop send it to the factory and it gonna take 3 weeks until i got my phone back..

ok, some answers show that it is either the rom or battery, they also suggest to have it sent off to have it looked at, see if anything is mucked up or something. sorry if it isnt much but its all i could find so far

Thank you wilbso, sending it off will be my very last resource. Anyway for now I've removed weather widget from the lockscreen and Homescreen, just to exclude any (?) refreshing data problems. Next step will be to install some task killer and so on.
I'll write if anything work it out!
Coverage
How's coverage in your area?
I had frequent reboots on low signal areas (very bad) and the phone tried to connect 3G to check e-mail. Anyway, after each reboot, I cleaned dalvik and cache, and then eventually it went away after moving from CM7 to GingerDX.
I think another possible problem is the ram cuz you said that you dont use task killers so the problem may be the low ram(every gb problem)if you confirm that this is the problem i sugest you should use advanced task killer form market
I don't think it's a ram problem, I suggest a full wipe an pay attention when you restore, do not restore system app or app data, the problem could be there...
crazy x8. Full wipe is the solution for prob in almost cases in x8 using custom roms. Wierd
@Chris_Castro:
2g signal looks stable, 3g poor, but at home I'm using wi-fi. But just to be sure I'll check the force 2G signal option, so we will see.
@X8invisible13:
I had the same idea yesterday, so I've installed Memory Booster - RAM Optimizer, here my ram data:
total memory: ~ 175MB
memory avaiable: ~26MB
and reading here and there they look to be average values. But one of the next tests will be to install the latest gingerDX rom, or some other cool roms and test each app at a time.
@evil_chris:
mmm, I'm quite the noob here, so I don't have any backup data or backup apps. I was playing around with HS/LS, sliders, icons when I experienced first problems, so had no time to deepen backup systems.
But I got what do you mean, so as I said, the next installation will be a naked one.
Last episode happened yesterday morning, I checked the locked screen, w/o unlocking it, and after 20 sec it rebooted. Just after I logged in it rebooted again
Anyways Thanks guys
I Cleaned Dalvik and cache, and removed the overclock and now looks good
i have cwm recovery 6.0.3.0 by Davidmarco installed on my xperia T... i want to wipe battery stats so i reboot to recovery and there is no option for that...
i also check in Advanced menu and all other menu's by there is no such option... so how to do that?? is there any fault with my recover...
i am on stock jb rom stock kernel.....
I don't have it either so its not a fault with your recovery
Iv known devs to remove it from their kernels as its "a useless feature"
Altho I liked to wipe the battery stats after a new rom and full charge whether it was useless or not

is deleting batterystats.bin file really help calibrating battery? have u tried ever?
No, wiping batterystats has nothing to do with calibrating battery. In fact, wiping batterystats.bin had almost no use except resetting the information in Settings - Power management - Battery, that's why it's removed from CWM I think.

Sorry never tried it, I am curious tho
Have you replaced your battery?
What is it your trying to achieve?
is this any use to you? (iv never tried it)
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration&hl=en_GB
Description
Requirements: Android 2.1+ | Root permissions
Calibration needs to be done after flashing a new ROM, but you can calibrate any time you think your battery is miscalibrated. This program does it by removing the batterystats.bin system file. The OS generates a new clean batterystats file soon, thus any fake information from the previous ROM is removed.
It's suggested, but not necessary, to let the phone fully discharge after calibration, then charged to 100% without break.
The app shows your actual battery status, and only allows you to start the calibration (i.e. removes the file) when it's fully charged, unless you force earlier calibration.
The voltage meter can be useful too. Full charge is around 4200mV.
There is an option to beep when 100% is reached so you don't have to closley follow the changes.
So after 8 hours my battery still said 100% and even shut off due to dead battery and it still said 100% full. In TWRP it also shows 100% full. Any ideas? I have it on the turbo charger now, since it died, and will wait about 2 hours then try to reset battery stats. Not sure what else to try. Nothing new installed, phone is stock other than rooted and TRWP.
This is why I stopped rooting phones. One feature breaks 2-3 things and end up flashing daily update zips.

huh?
The phone was rooted the day I got it, Nov 9th, and it just started doing it today. So how does root automatically cause the issue?
Anyway, any ideas would be great I think resetting the batterystats has worked just curious what may have started it.

I've never had issues from just rooting. Rooting a phone doesn't cause issues but rather installing root apps and changing things causes issues. I would try to flash back to stock (backup data first) and then root it again to see of that fixes it.
Also did you use CF-Autoroot or one of the tool kits?
I fixed the issue, after that battery died I let it charge for about 4 hours with the quick charger and then reset the battery stats by using an app that deletes the batterystats.bin file. Then did a reboot and now the battery level is no longer stuck on 100%.
Same happened to me, phone is on for over 20hrs and battery is still 100%.
Waiting for it to shut off.

You can also try the bootloader trick, though not sure if it will work here.
Boot to bootloader, change to logs menu. Hold power until reboot.
FYI, batterystats is not related to what % battery shows is left.

root has nothing to do with breaking your phone. all root does is give you superuser permission. what breaks phones are dirty hacks that you yourself chose to use.

Yeah maybe battery firmware confusion. I don't know where TWRP gets its reading from.
Still Works!

Since I upgraded to Marshmallow my battery life on my T Mobile LG G4 H811 has gone horribly wrong. My phone loses battery at least 20% faster than on lollipop. I am using a debloated custom Rpm since stock marshmallow was worse. Is there any fixes for the bad battery life? Any tips you guys can give me or kernel I can flash that will improve battery life? Anyone else dealing with bad battery life compared to lollipop?
Which ROM are you using? Debloated marshmallow should get you at least the same battery life as LP in my experience. Something is not right with your setup. Did you restore anything? Dirty flash?
Try clearing your cache and dalvik.
i am on genisys rom and it sips battery.
Use a file manager and go into system/bin and look for logd and rename it to lgd.bak then reboot. Battery life should be a tad better
Prolly not your problem but just to share in case:
Had the same problem, horrible battery life after upgrading to MM. No info on the system battery stats. Turned out it was the media scanner tripping out over this old QuickTime movie file I have saved. Better Battery Stats was the only thing that showed it, so if you haven't already try that to see if it can tell you what's up.
(Really curious why I had no problems with that file on LL, but guess that's another question).

I am on MicroMod777's "G4 H811 20i xTreme ROM" It already comes debloated. So I am not sure what is causing it. I did a clean install when I installed the rom. I will try clearing cache and dalvik.

Nice I will need to try that. System battery stats are complete BS. I usually use my phone with the screen below 15 percent and my phone says that's what consumes the most battery which is obviously false.

Like you I felt LL to be easier on the battery than MM, but not too much. It shouldn't be 20% worse. Cant go back to LL because of stage fright. You may want to consider CM 13. That's about as debloated as it gets and even CM can be made barebones. Any of the kernels with interactive governor should help with battery life. Good luck.

From what i read it's just used for taking logs. Like similar to if you're testing something. Ill find a link to it so you can read it.

Theres the link. You can read it more in depth there.

The link is broken, my friend
Link is working here. Hopefully the author of the 998 mhz 4 core mod can get this boot image and get that going. I miss having that little boost in speed.

I take no responsibility lol. I had no need to downgrade back to 1.5 so I really couldn't help you further. You'll have to do some digging on your own, bud. 2.0 with the unlocked 4 core 998 mhz boot image has made my watch enjoyable again. I also disabled a bunch of apps that I didnt need running like other watch faces, etc to help conserve battery.
When i plug with charger it turns on but if i unplug it turn off automatically. I reset everything couple of time. I thought its a battery problem but when i go recovery with charger and unplug the charger it runs with battery backup. When i select rebot now it shut down automatically and never run until i plug charger. I dont know what should i do.

Later I found this guide in Watch R forum, which might be related.
Since it requires mod on battery I'm not so sure if I should proceed (or I can try to replace a battery).
Or I could switch something new. It has been years and I always want to try something new lol.
Anyway thanks for effort
