Now when we have nearly fully working ICS on our HD 2 I have one small request which is connected with the software buttons! Ever since I first installed Android on my HD 2 I am using Button Savior to operate with the phone ut since ICS already has software buttons I think it is not necessary to use third application to operate with the phone! My idea is if some one could modify the stock buttons and make them 4 in this order from left to right : home, tasks, back and power off! I will be very grateful if someone could make this possible! Thank you in advance!
AOKP ROMs have this already implemented, you can add up to 5-6 soft buttons I believe, and you can customize them with swipe actions and custom icons as well.
Sent from my HD2 using xda premium
most ICS rom has softkey now, just try rom from Tytung or Xylo
and there also thread about modify soft key here.
make a search you will find
My galaxy s' home button recently broke and as i cant immediately replace it, I've had to resort to using the on screen navigation buttons that CM10 and AOKP provide
my question is that recently CM10.1 was released and i want to know if i can enable on screen buttons in the ROM?
many thanks in advance
I was a big fan of Search and Menu buttons on Android 2.3, which were abandoned on later versions.
Is there any way to modify button bar layout and get Search button back and ideally make Menu button permanently visible (like on enclosed picture)?
Or perhaps, is there any way to use AOKP configurable button bar on Xperia T?
Thank you in advance for help.
Hi der,
I have flashed a minitab rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1968561 on my note . Everything is working very smoothly as it should be. It is really a greate rom, thanks to the developer. Since my note already have a back button and a menu button, I really dont want to waste my screen space on some so called navigation buttons. Its really anoying. I have tried to apply couple of solutions like editing the build.prop as it is suggested in the thread. But it seems not working. I really don care to loose the accessibility of the mini mode buttons from the navigation bar.
So somebody please help me with a real solution to either disable or to hide the navigation bar for this particular rom. Thanks in advance

If I understood your problem, you installed a ROM that works in tablet mode, showing you the menu, home and back keys on the bottom of the screen. To solve this you need to change the LCD density in build.prop: ro.sf.lcd_density. The default density of the Note is 320 dpi (ro.sf.lcd_density=320), what puts you in "phone mode", i.e. the bottom bar doesn't appear. Try changing that on your build.prop. Search the forum if you don't know how to do that, because a mistake could leave your device in a bootloop. Other options you have is to flash a different ROM.
I'm using a custom Sense 5 rom, and was wondering how do you enable it. I already tried the build.prop trick, but it didn't work. Anything i'm missing? Yes I know there's the capacitive buttons, but there's already a on-screen menu button. Might as well turn it into the whole nav button. And yes, I know I can disable the on-screen menu button, but I like to SEE if there's a menu button in the app. Plus i'm coming from a GNex, so i'm used to the nav bar.
Anyone?
I want softkeys as well, but my experience is that it doesn't work with other than cm/aosp roms. Anyone that knows why or a workaround?
