Hello,
Problem description:
When i go in my Galaxy Note 3 to Gear Manager >> Notifications i can`t open up Manage text templates it will pop up for second and instantly closes down and i see again Notification window.
History: Before updates (auto updates from Samsung) i managed to add Text templates there but they did never show in Galaxy Gear watch.
How to fix this issue?
My Note 3 is not rooted and i have not done root (dont know if i can) to my watch also.
Option that i have selected is: USB debug in Gear Watch.
And in Note 3 Gear Manager option Unknown sources.
Gear Manager version that i have inbstalled on my Galaxy Note 3 is: 1.6.132701
Try clearing cache and data of gear manager? Reinstall gear manager and wipe gear?
How do you clear cache.
In phone or in gear?

Questions
1. How do i get Facebook on gear without rooting it?
should come up as notification but i dont have any yet.
anything i have to turn on mobile or watch?
my mobile is S3
2. how do i turn on watch movement is greyed out in option
soft running V700XXUAMK7
3. any easy way to get youtube on watch without rooting?
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013...real-apps-running-on-the-samsung-galaxy-gear/
1. You can get notifications by enabling it on gear manager -> notifications -> more notifications -> tick any app youd like.
2. Maybe firmware update will fix it. Check in gear managee.
3. Afaik you wont get much use for youtube on the gear without a null rom with bluetooth internett teethering. But you can backup youtube app from phone with astro/es fileexplorer and sideload them from pc. There are tutorials on how to sideload in the forums.
Hope this helps mate

It would appear that I am not the first to ask this question and from the threads that I have found so far, there is no answer.
I have rooted with Null 23 and launch with the stock software. However when I scroll the apps (S voice, pedometer, apps etc) there is no settings icon any more. What to do next?
If there is a thread that I have missed which explains this, I would appreciate a link unless this has stumped everyone.
Any help would be appreciated.
Do not select restore when reconnecting to gm. Select reset
You should be able to select the Settings app to be viewable again from Gear Manager -> My Apps

Add the Settings App to your favorites again for it to be viewable when you scroll side to side on your watch.

Thanks.
1. Tried 'adding settings', but it is not listed in the apps section in GM to be added to favourites
2. Went in to GM and selected disconnect, then reconnected, but no option to reset or restore.
3. Uninstalled then reinstalled GM, connected with NFC.
- Notice said "backup data has been deleted from mobile device, gear to be reset to factory settings".
- Selected OK for reset, was asked for NFC again.
- NFC was "device not recognised". Connected manually instead.
- Selected Touchwiz launcher (not Nova)
- SETTINGS is now listed on the GG but NOT in GM as either favourite or in apps.
- I then removed a couple of favourites from GM and when GG updated, no settings app again.
Circle completed (from point 1 above), I need to find a way to get the settings app to appear on the GM otherwise no settings on phone.
i have this problem too What I noticed is if the gear manager is open on your phone this will remove the icon from the GG. I just use GM to sort what I need out then back out so it because minimised (but still running) then restart my GG

Interesting, thank you :good:
So if I understand this correctly, if I set up what I need in GM such as adding apps and reorganising them etc, then minimising GM... all I need do is restart (not reboot) the GG and my latest GM settings will be applied... PLUS the settings icon will be present?

UPDATE: Issue is with Gear Manager no longer having the 'SETTINGS' option for a rooted Gear
Unfortunately the problem did not resolve itself, so I went back to basics and tested a number of options out and what I have diagnosed is that it is an issue with Gear Manager on a rooted device.
To re-cap: Initially, I had the settings app (through Touchwiz) on the GG, but this disappeared when I synced with GM after rooting and adding Null 23 custom ROM. If I re-flashed Null 23, 'settings' would appear until I started fiddling around with GM options. You may have noticed yourself that GM will not let you update its software if GG is rooted.
- I decided to then take the GG back to stock, reinstalled GM on my Note 3 and 'settings' was listed on both the Note and GG. This remained on both when I synced and edited through GM.
- Next I rooted and added Null 23 again while leaving the GM installation alone and then connected through bluetooth (not NFC). The GG had the Touchwiz 'settings' app, but GM DID NOT.
- Fortunately GM was already set up with a couple of custom notifications (GO SMS etc) so I have not needed to sync GG with GM.
- I am now convinced that if I were to rearrange "My Apps" on GM and sync, 'settings' would disappear as it is no longer listed on GM.
- I have not used GM for anything other than connecting to my Note 3 and so far so good. Whether accessing Samsung Apps would result in it also changing My Apps, I do not want to chance.
If someone finds a way of getting the 'settings' app to appear on GM with a rooted GG, I would be interested to try it out.
what version of gear manager are you using?
V1.6.132701. This was the latest update in-app two days ago. I did read elsewhere about a V1.7 that some were having issues with.
Also: changed a setting in custom notifications on GM and the 'settings' icon is still present on the GG. I am still not convinced that it would remain if I reordered the icons on the My Apps section though.

I've spent a lot of time to figure out how to get full notifications back on my Gear 1.
Since the last few updates, Samsung screwed us over by updating Gear Manager and mess with the notifications in the process.
For a lot of apps, the full notifications were removed now only showing the app that triggers the notification and for instance the sender of an email.
This is what I did to get it fully working again.
1. Remove everything Gear related on the phone (my case it's a S5).
2. Download earlier version of Gear Manager where full notifications still worked and put it somewhere on your SD card where you can find it.
( I downloaded version 2.1.14071502 from here https://www.mediafire.com/folder/e7h23e12rzesi/Gear_Manager )
3. Make sure the phone doesn't have any internet connection anymore, disable wifi and mobile data connection.
4. disable Bluetooth, so that you don't have a connection with the Gear smartwatch.
5. Install the Gear Manager earlier version you downloaded
6. reboot phone
7. open Titanium Backup and freeze "samsung gear automatic update" (or something simular, I'm translating is from Dutch).
8. open Gear Manager, it shouldn't ask to update (as the internet connection is still not active).
9. disable automatic updates in Gear Manager
10. Set up Gear Manager as you like
11. Connect phone to smartwatch by enabling Bluetooth again
12. Enable wifi and/or mobile data connection
On my S5 it works perfectly like this, no messages about updates and whatsapp and gmail notifications are coming in again with preview of the text.
UPDATE : I don't know if it is related to my "workaround" but I don't receive WhatsApp notifications anymore on the watch, although it is checked in Gear Manager and I do receive notifications on my phone.
UPDATE 2 : decided to give it another try today and I followed again the same steps. At step 7 there was no "Samsung Software Update" in TB, so decided to freeze "Samsung Account" in TB. This worked very well.
Tested my findings by sending myself multiple notifications (Gmail, SMS, Whatsapp, etc) from my company S3 Neo and it worked !
Does this also solve certain apps not installing when installed from phone and not galaxy store?

No, not that I know of.
This "workaround" is only to get back more text in the notifications, which are gone after the last few updates that Samsung forced upon us.
uhm... 1.7.071502 version can not be found in the link provided?

hi i have N7105 with gear 1, latest tizen.
i tried to install "low energy clock" its watch face that supposed to always on. just search on samsung app store you will find it (one is free one is pro) - i tried the free.
during installation i got this "host failed" etc etc.
I cant find the watch face in my list of installed app both in samsung gear app on mobile or on the gear itself, but when i go to samsung app store to re install, it will show "move to gear manager" instead of "install" button (mean i already install it) - but cant find it anywhere.
any idea how to solve this?
thanks

Did you ever find a solution to this? I'm having a similar issue
i emailed the developer but still cant fix this. the only way is to reset gear watch but then you need to reinstall everything.
but now i get it to work.
maybe, try not to install alot of watch faces at the same time, do one by one
Hi all!
I've flashed one of my gear on Tizen and its really ok.
Battery life real greatly improved and more cool app.
But I have a problem with some applications that dont show on "My app" in Gear Manager nor in the Gear but the galaxy app says it is already installed on my V700.
So i cant install or uninstall these app and some watches.
For exemple
A really cool app is Vcamera but in Galaxy app store
in place if "INSTALL"
it say "move to gear" means that it is in the gear manager but when i press it i only bring to gear manager and nothing in my app or even in the gear
I've performed a reset of the gear it clear all app but after restoration it the same.
In clean install app apear once and after removing app from gear it remain "installed" on galaxy app
I dont know how to solve this problem..
Any ideas?
Thanks ! :good:
Uninstall and reinstall the app on phone. unisnstall all modules gearplugin, gearprovider, gear.....
I have this issue with more than one Gear installed on the phone (Gear 1, Gear 2, Gear S) and often if an app is on one Gear (Gear 2) I can not install again on other (Gear S) unless I uninstall this app on the Gear where it installed (Gear S).
Thanks Dersie:
I cannot uninstall cause Galaxy appstore says they are INSTALLED so cannot select for uninstall and in app card the only option is "MOVE TO GEAR"
Looks like a Appstore <-> gear problem ?
