I can't upadate my xperia v lt25i - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I have flashed xperia v with android stock 4.1.2 (fw .140). The bootloader after flash of 4.1.2 is unlocked. After reboot and first setting i start wifi and notification bar show me that there is an update to 9.2.A.0.295, so i update, immediately smartphone reboot but smartphone show me message : impossible installation. I have tried to use sony companion but program show me message of error that it says: software is not original and it can't update software.
So i decided to install custom rom, so i have root my smartphone with DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v17_perf-event-exploit and then i have installed recovery (i have used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012738). Then i have try to flash many roms but althought i have (everytime do wipe data, cache, dalvik) i can't install any rom.
I have error: Symlink: some symlink failed...(status 7) installation aborted.....
What i can do to update my rom?

You can't update through updates/PC companion becoz u have BL unlocked. Just download some of the FTF fws and flash through flashtools, that's easiest imo...Unless you get **** erros like i do

How to root 244:
I am not responsible if you attempt this and something breaks
1. Flash 307 and root it
2. Back up the TA with tool from here
3. Unlock BL with Flashtool
4. Update to 244 with Flashtool
5. Boot from CM10.2 boot.img (Can be taken from any CM10.1 or 10.2 ROM or for your convenience from here) into recovery by selecting Flash -> Fastboot Mode -> HotBoot Kernel (Sometimes this does not work, if so unhide steps 5a and 6a otherwise continue)
5a. Flash CM10.2 Recovery in console with
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
6. Apply SuperSu via update.zip (Superuser does not work as it seems to not support the new User Management feature permissions of 4.2.2)
6a. ReFlash 244 but without wiping data and excluding system partition from the flash
7. ReLock BL with Flashtool (This step may be unnecesarry, because the backed up TA relocks the BL as well)
8. Restore the TA from the backup
Its a little inconvenient, but it worked for me, and now I am rooted an still have all my DRM keys

You did not reboot the tablet once it told you so after the initial startup, didn't you
Just go to Settings -> Apps -> Currently running and kill the sony startup service. It will tell you its dangerous to do so, but do it anyway, as it is finished doing what it was supposed to do.

I tried with the older kernel from the 307 ftf, but they are not compatible (Tablet will not boot) So rooting is a no-go ATM (unless your bootloader is unlocked) because there is no older 4.2.2 thats rootable for the Tablet Z.

so do i. Flashed kernel from 307 firmware. Got bootloop. Now flashing to 4.2.2 again.
This method is not working properly cause old kernel for smartphone was already for 4.2.2 and we don't have rootable kernel for tablet z.

I think it's easier to get root on .307 firmware, save it with OTA Root keeper and then update to 10.3.1.A.0.244 with pc-companion and restore root.

Yes it is, if you already are able to update via PC Companion. This is more meant for people that do not see the update and want to get it via ftf. Or are you able to update as soon as 244 was present on your device once?

the update is available for me via pc-companion from 05.08.13. As far as i understood pc-companion performs update without wipes, so all user information is untouched and therefore root can be saved.

But if you stay unlcoked it should be even easier.
1. Get yourself a boot.img with attached recovery (CM 10.1 for example)
2. Use flashtool to fastboot the boot.img as temporary kernel (not flashing, just booting)
3. Press Vol Up to get into recovery
4. Flash SuperSU
Are there still reboots when you try to mount /system as rw with locked bootloader?
@lowtraxx: you don't need to relock the bootloader with flashtool because if you flash back your ta backup it is locked again. I'll also flash back my ta when the wifi version of the 4.2.2 update will be released. Now i am on cm10.1

Hi, not much i can say, but you need to follow this instruction:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2386405
[ how-to ]
Download the three files from the download section below
open FlashTool and flash the XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.A.0.423_Generic_NL.ftf - 7.12 MB file, this is JUST the kernel of an older firmware which was rootable
now once flashing is done reboot device and connect to PC in usb debuggin mode
CLOSE FLASHTOOL <<< VVVIMP STEP
extract the file DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v18_perf-event-exploit.zip to root directory on c:\
execute runme_ file corresponding to your OS on desktop PC, this will execute a SPECIAL version of my easy rooting toolkit <<< VVVIMP STEP
the above step is crucial! if you use any older version of the toolkit then IT WILL NOT WORK!
after rooting is over the device will restart
you can verify if device is rooted by checking for SuperSU app (it is the newest version)
once thats done now power down device and open FlashTool again
now flash XperiaZ_C660X_KernelOnly_10.3.1.A.0.244_BE.ftf - 7.17 MB file to get back to the true kernel for the firmware
thats it after flashing is done just disconnect and power on device and enjoy rooted phone!

Hi .. I have done the following:
1) tried some other 1-click softwares before I found this post.
2) unlocked the Bootloader
Now when I used the Flashtool (Emma) it says that there have been modifications to my software and cannot flash
What can I do? Is there a more manual way to flash the kernel to the older version??

If you have unlocked the BL just flash the advanced stock kernel via fastboot & then boot in recovery & flash the su zip that is kicking around for rooting 4.3....
worked for me anyway
The way to root is easy if you read. You downgrade to a 434 kernel with flash tool, run the root and upgrade back again with flash tool, easy. Don't need to unlock or anything.

So do you need put the necessary files inside the flashtool/firmwares folder?
After that:
Open flashmode and select the .423 file and flash it, apply root and after reboot and flash back to.244?

[Q] New Z1 Straight Out Of The Box. Now What?

Just got my brand new Z1 (C6903), SIM and bootloader unlocked (SI 1276-0471.2), and have booted it for the first time. It is running 14.1.G.1.518, shows 1 system OTA system update available to 14.2.A.0.290 and a number of OTA app updates available.
I'd like to root, install custom recovery (preferably dual) and back up the phones original state including TA partition, then move on to updating to a 4.4 Kitkat build, probably stock as I will leave the bootloader locked for the moment.
Despite having worked on (rooted etc.) 2x Xperia SPs, I have read through the many Z1 rooting threads and ultimate guides and I have no idea where to start. Most rooting threads start with downgrading, which I shouldn't need to do, there are usually multiple methods for each firmware version and most don't seem to root the currently installed ROM (especially the newer firmware versions), they require a ftf file (of unknown SI number) flashed over the current ROM. There doesn't seem to be a way to retain a firmware version with the correct SI number for my phone.
I think I read that Bin4ry's rooting method is the best for this firmware. Is that right? The dual recovery seems as though it could be problematic, will it be overwritten when I update or flash an ftf file? Once I root the original .518 firmware etc. what do I do next to get to rooted Kitkat (.757)? Is it possible to get a rooted 4.4 stock ROM with the same SI number? Should I actually be bother with such details?
I could really use some clear advice on the best way to proceed.
This is what you need to get to a 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 ROM with Root. For 4.4.4 look further down the post. This is for locked bootloaders.
Code:
For unlocked bootloaders on ANY FW just flash a custom kernel of your choice suitable for the FW you are on then install chainfires SuperSU either from the play store or from his website in a flashable zip (Google it)
1) Flash any FTF file ending in 534 (Find files and instructions in the mega collection thread in the general section)
2) Install the latest dual recovery (Find files and instructions in the XZDR dual recovery in the cross device development section)
3) Install a pre rooted 4.4 ROM of your choice (Find files and instructions in the development section)
No need to root, no need to unlock the bootloader, hence also no need to back up the TA partition.
At the end of the process you will be on KitKat and rooted.
Here is @shem2409 brand new video showing you step by step how to root and install the newest recovery on bootloader locked Sony Xperia Z1 Android 4.4 based on [NUT]'s guide:
For 4.4.4 just update to 4.4.4 via PCCompanion or flashtool and then look at this

or this

Many Thanks for the swift response, thats about as clear as it gets. But I did notice most ROM's install instructions say to root 534 before installing recovery and most require a kernel only ftf to be flashed after flashing ROM. Should I follow the ROM's install instructions?
Just for my own knowledge, there is a Generic UK 534 firmware ftf listed but not with the same SI number as mine. Should I worry about never being able to return the phone to full "just-out-of-the-box" condition?
If you do not install dual recovery then you will have to root the 534 firmware
Installing dual recovery on 534 roots the firmware at the same time
You can flash any 534 FTF as long as its for your model of phone (C6902/3/6 etc), the SI number does not matter
As my instructions said at each step you will find files and instructions in the relevant threads, please follow them.
i upgraded it to .757, then installed doomkernel and flashed supersu.zip...thats my rooting method on qct based devices ^^

Thanks again, that dual recovery is a godsend. Much like yourself. Couldn't find any details on what Wipe and Exclude options to set in flashtool for the 534 flash. Seems logical to exclude TA but I don't know.
I have read some stuff about losing IMEI when flashing with flashtool but that seems to occur when downgrading.

it should be the same one for your phone

Sorry to quote the whole thing..
1. U say flash any FTF - Any FTF or Stripped FTF of the same device model will do?
2. If i flash Generic FTF then I wont be having Root and Recovery then How am i gonna install Dual Recovery?
Also i know its not related but can u suggest me.. My phone is unable to focus.. I was on AOSP ROMs from so long.. Now i flashed NUT Stock ROM 757 via Recovery and Everything is smooth and good except the Camera is not Focussing..
I read somewhere that if Running Camera Problems then downgrade to 534 and do the whole process and then Come to 757.. Is it true?
Also we need a Good Tutorial for Coming to AOSP from STOCK and Vise versa with proper links and Support can u do it? Because i have seen People who come to AOSP from Stock run into different types of problems, mostly the solution is Downgrading and Doing the whole process.. I know u have the knowledge to do that what say?

Flashtool doesn't work well now, so can I downgrade from N to MM?

I'm on the stock Nougat now with locked bootloader. I'm planning to downgrade to MM so I can backup the TA, but i heard flashtool have problem downgrading phone that is already on Nougat, and I guess sony pcc wont help me to downgrade to MM, so anyway I can downgrade?
Thanks
I did that with no issues. From N to MM you need to flash full firmware, that means: excluding nothing, wiping everything (all your data will be lost).
Do exclude *.ta files only (If any is present in ftf)!
Ok, thanks for the info
@serajr please can you tell me how Flashtool works and Xperia X series are not listed in the device lists? everytime i try to flash my phone it asks me to choose my model name (Xperia X) which is not listed in the flashtool supported devices...
also, when i browse to choose the FTF it doesn't recognize it.. i downloaded it from Xperifirm, and did all the bundle in Flashtool.
I have:
latest flashtool installed
installed all drivers in flashtool and in computer for my Xperia X
USB Debug and unknown resources are checked.
everything is well installed!!
please if you can help me or tell me how i can flash my Xperia X ??
give me information or guides...etc
i appreciate your help
thank you
@Nidhal AKA the king
This is basically what I do:
1. Open Flashtool with device disconnected from usb port
2. Click "Flash device" button, choose "Flashmode" and choose the firmware
3. Click "Flash" button
4. When prompted to connect the device, connect it in flashmode (plug usb cable with device's volume down rocker pressed, and release it after the flash process starts)
5. Choose "No" for script (if prompted for)
6. Wait till it finishes!
I've unlocked and I'm still at MM now
Can I get back to nougat? coz sony wont update for me now and flashtool have problem
Same, you need wipe everything.
1.relock bootloader by flashtool
2.flash MM6.0
3. use sony pc companion to upgrade.
4. you get nougat.
@serajr
the Xperia X is not available in the lists of flashtool supported devices.. i tried that and it keeps popping up a menu to choosee phone model (X not available) when I ignore it gives the error loader.sin not found and flash cancelled...
that's in the previous flashtool version... the latest one when i browse the FTF for Xperia X, it doesn't even see it in the firmware folder as there is no FTF file!
any trick or solution to make the flash successful ?

Explanationon how to use Flashtool

Before 7.1.1 came out there was a full explanation on how to use flashtool to flash an ftf file and what files you needed to flash afterwards to gain root and custom recovery.
There was an update on how to do it for OS 7.0.
This thread seems to be gone.
Can somebody show me this thread again?
I'm trying to update to 7.1.1 and with a workaround this should be possible with flashtool but nothing works for me.
When I want to reflash the latest 7.0 flashtool very quickly says it's done, leaving my phone softbricked.
I know I can use sony's flashtool to install 7.1.1 but how to proceed then to gain root, twrp and another kernel, is there some explanation on how to do this or is there something else than flashtool (androxydes or sony's) to flash the firmware?
same problem, someone please tell us..:crying:

If you want to flash 7.1.1 firmwares using Flshtool by Androxyde, since there's still no fsc file for 7.1.1 (41.2.A.X.XXX), so you will encounter a warning message "WARN - No loader found or set manually. Skipping loader."
To solve this problem, first open your Flashtool and wait for it to sync device database.
Second, go to C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\.flashTool\devices\F81XX rename the file "39.fsc" to "41.fsc"
Then Flashtool can flash 7.1.1 firmwares successfully.
NOTICE: Once you closed Flashtool, you need to do things above again.
I just found that Androxyde has uploaded the FSC script 21 hours ago.
So you don't need extra actions now. Just use Flashtool as usual and it may work.
