[Q] Cyanoboot in loop - sometimes can get into recovery - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a working version of 10.1 installed on the emmc of my wife's HD+. Out of the blue, it rebooted on its own (according to the wife) and is stuck in a boot loop - comes up to cyanoboot screen and then reboots to the nook splash screen. I can get into recovery maybe one in 10 times I try to do it.
I have wiped the cache partition, the Dalvik cache and have done the wipe data/factory reset with no success on getting out of the boot loop.
When I am able to get into recovery, on the bottom left is the following error:
EMMC: CMW-based recovery v6.0.3.6
Warning: no file_contexts.
Another warning I get is:
formatting /cache...
Cache wipe complete.
E: unknown volume for path [/sd-ext]
Dalvik Cache wiped.
What is the best way to fix this issue? Should I just reflash the 10.1 or take back to stock and then reflash it or ???

Those warnings are normal. And that booting to recovery is the 8 failed boot kicking in. On the 9th boot it tries to boot to stock recovery to repair itself. You replaced stock recovery with CWM so it boots there. I would suggest you try re-flashing CM10.1 and if that does not work, go back to stock first.
Sent from my BN NookHD+ using XDA Premium HD app

Thanks!
I reflashed it and it is now at the setup screen. Have to wait for the wife to get home for her to setup her tablet. Thanks again!

[Q] FROYOMOD 2.6 - Milestone stuck at boot animation

Hi,
Android noob here-
I need help. I had cyanogen 6 mod and I wanted to try Froyomod. I booted into recovery applied FroyoMod 2.6.0 update. I did clear cache and partition (I didn't clear data). Now when I boot the phone I can see the M logo and froyomod boot animation, but thats where it stops. I tried to start the phone on recovery (power button+camera/power button+X key) but it doesn't work.
My phone is bricked. Is there a way to unbrick it?
Thank you!!
I had a bootloop the first time that I flashed FroyoMod. I cleared all of my data, wipe dalvik, but forgot the cache partition. If it still bootloops, I would just take the battery out, put it back in and try and boot into recovery again. Try clearing the data(if you have a backup) and the dalvik and cache partitions, flash FroyoMod, then clear cache and dalvik again before rebooting again.
Did you try without SD card??
Not wiping data when changing ROM can give boot problems. What is really unusual is that you can't go into OpenRecovery anymore. What do you mean with "it doesn't work?".

tried that many times but still stuck at samsung logo
any other suggestions?
Have Same Problem Brother
mee too got same problem any help would be appreciated..!
How long did you wait. I found that after installing a new rom or factory wipe that it would take up to 5 minutes to boot. It would just sit at the samsung logo with a pulsing glow for ages.
Maybe you just need to give it more time?
What tools and packages did you use?

Wipe cache, do a factory reset, wipe dalvik cache. If still stuck, it looks like a bad flash/kernel problem. Try flashing it again.
Finally succeed
It's work for me, I simply entered my galaxy S3 into recovery, make factory reset, wipe chache and then reboot and my S3 finally boot normally. Thank You all.
Make my thorough wipe as below when flashing a new ROM:
1) Wipe data
2) Wipe cache
3) Wipe dalvik cache
4) Format /system & /preload
5) Format internal sdcard (make sure you save anything you need before)
6) Flash ROM
7) Wipe cache again
8) Wipe dalvik cache again
9) Reboot
This way you ensure you flash your new ROM in a completely clean environment. Then when booting the new ROM, wait some time before saying it's stuck at the boot logo. As people already said, sometimes it takes a long time to display the setup screen (but should be less than 8 minutes in any case). I'm assuming you have CWM to do this; if you don't, try the equivalent in the stock recovery (but it doesn't have all these options), poweroff, boot in download mode, then flash using Odin.
ATTENTION: make sure you make the wipes using a brick-free kernel! Search the forums if you don't know what it is. If you don't, you may brick your phone. You should flash a brick-free kernel before anything, without any wipes (it can be done through Odin if you download a safe kernel in this format); then you are ready to go with the wipes and flashing a new ROM.
my j500h keeps on restarting just after displaying samsung logo. i have tried nearly everything but seem to be stuck on the same bootloop. any idea am so stressed up.

[Q] Updated to CM from Stock Need Help Restoring

I have an S5830D that I flash an CM7 rom to (APOCALYPSE-FINAL), I'm now looking at getting back to stock. I'm having trouble getting my CWM restore back. Now after doing some searching I realized I would need to flash a stock firmware version through odin. I went out and found what i believe is the correct firmware version for this Koodo model (the name is S5830DTLKI4_S5830DTLSKI4_S5830DTLKI4_HOME.tar.md5) and tried to flash it.
Everything in odin goes through fine up to the point where it restarts the phone, Ill attach a screenshot of what shows up for me. After the screen shows up is when I get stuck in a bootloop where the phone model shows, then the koodo bootanimation shows followed by the samsung logo. I should note though I still have complete access to recovery, the downloader mode, and even the CM rom when i restore that backup. The fact I have access to all those gives me hope as I'm sure this could be reversed.
Any advice on how I can restore this phone to stock would be greatly appreciated. I'm not very familiar with samsung devices so please try to be patient with me as I realize I have gotten into something over my head.
PS Sorry about the glare on the image its the best I could do as it disappears quickly.

If you have complete access to recovery mode, try wiping data and cache after flashing with Odin. That does the trick for me when I have a bootloop after flashing with Odin.

Agreed... reboot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik cache and then reboot.
So I've just completed a new flash with odin, I went in and flashed cwm then proceeded to factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, and I even do battery reset. Every wipe goes fine except for when I attempt to do the factory reset I received the following error:
Code:
E:format_volume: make_extf4fs failed on /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
Even after those wipes it still bootloops but thats most likely as the factory reset didn't work.

Try not using CWM, or your SD card may be corrupt and you have to format it, I'm not sure though.

That did it, for some reason I had this thought in my head I had to flash cwm right away and clear stuff that way. Once odin finished I went in recovery and wiped data and cache through the stock recovery and it booted right up. Thanks for the help really appreciate it.

[Q] NOOK HD+ stuck in bootloop again

I have a Nook HD+ that has decided to go into a boot loop again. I say again because it also got stuck in a bootloop about 3 months ago when I was trying to upgrade it to CM11. I was able to fix it by flashing the CM11 ROM but that didn't work this time. So I did a data wipe/factory reset from CWM which seemed to work, but it was still bootlooping. So I tried flashing another CM11 ROM (cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-ovation.zip), which seemed to take longer than it should have, but it did install. It's still bootlooping. A few times it did seem to boot up, but it either refused to unlock or rebooted again before I could do anything. The interesting thing is when this did happen, it showed the home screen and all of the apps still seemed to be there, despite me having done a data wipe/factory reset. IDK what else to do. The boot animation is really laggy if that means something. Please help.

You should start completely fresh including recovery:
Use sdcard recovery that leapinlar has available.
Put cm11 emmc recovery and the cm11 emmc m12 rom on sdcard.
Boot to sdcard recovery.
Flash cm11 emmc recovery.
Reboot to newly flashed emmc recovery.
Wipe data & cache factory reset, dalvic, and system.
Then flash cm11 emmc m12.
And hope that works. If not, it can get much more complicated.

n7000 stuck on boot logo (nightowl 20150913)

I was running the latest night owl rom just fine. This morning however the phone was stuck on boot logo.
Restart, taking out the battery and even reflashing the rom or other versions doesn't help.
I can still access recovery (philz touch 6). I can wipe cache and format /cache but the phone crashes/reboots on wipe dalvik/art.
any suggestions?
thanks!
