I agree, I could do that, but I would really like to backup TA partition first, and I can't do that without root, or do you know of a way?

Skip this step and downgrade directly to .534 provided by NUT, post n3 on "how root .290", then root with Bin4ry method, install CWM and upgrade directly to 4.4 pre-rooted.

I agree, I could do that, but I would really like to backup TA partition first, and I can't do that without root, or do you know of a way?

nope pretty sure there is no way without root, i wasn't fussed about backing up the TA partition
and haven't had any issues everything works they fixed the camera issue with 4.3.
anyway back to your issue
i noticed "Device connected with USB debugging off"
go into deleloper settings and enable it
hit about phone in settings 10 times to enable it if developer mode is not yet showing in your settings

You're right FlashTool does state that it is off, but when I go to settings it is on, it is only when I connect i flashmode I get that message, if I connect it with phone on, it says it is on

I will try that, thanks anyway!

I don't know what you are doing wrong and how interpret this. I even did not installed drivers to flash mine, Windows did that for me. I can tell you just how I did, Turned off the Phone, keep holding Volume Down, connect to PC, let Windows (Win7) install the drivers for Flashmode, open Flashtool (v0.9.13), select the FTF, Holding always the Volume Down and cliccked on Flash, Wiped everything, Data, Apps Log and Cache, when the Bar of the processing started I leaved the phone alone.
Uninstall everything like Flashtool and Drivers, clean any remaining folders with unnecessary files or delete all of them, reboot your PC, install just Flashtool and try again. If this not help, sorry, I give up.

Thanks for All your help.
I uninstalled everything and reinstalled after reboot, it did not help.
What did help was changing the USB cable, funny it should be so "simple".
I am now downgraded, rooted and upgraded again.
Thanks again.

[Q] xperia z bricked

Hi, I flashed my phone with beanstalk 4.4 all looked ok but it lost imei and serial number.
I then did a restore to official 4.3 but it didn't restore the imei or serial.
I backed up the TA partition (i know it's too late now) I found where the serial number was located in a hex editor I changed only one of the digits to see if it changed on the phone, I sent the TA.img back to the phone and restarted.
Now it won't turn on. I loaded up flash tools and connected the phone, it goes into flashmode but drops back out after about 2 mins. It gets to the point where it tries to read the phone info but always stops with a header error.
Is there any way to flash the TA.img using flash tools or force flash the phone.
I have tried all combination of buttons to try get flashboot but nothing.
Thanks
If you pushed an edited TA image to your phone, then you have almost certainly hard bricked it.
The bootloader checks the signature of the TA and refuses to boot/enter flashmode or fastboot if it has been tampered with.
If this is what has happened, then there is no way to repair it.

Thanks for quick reply. I will put it on eBay for spares.
dont suppose you have a microsd card 16gb around do ya? seems like youd be a good candidate to test sdcard booting on this device
Don't have one but can get one. Anything else I need?
im new to sony and gsm devices, is TA where your imei or personal info for your device is secured? if so then this isnt gunna work out well since if anyone dumps the bootloader files from mmcblk0 for you it would include their TA.img.

Yes, the DRM keys for the device, the IMEI and other device specific items are stored in the TA partition.
There's some discussion in the development section on it. I'll see if I can find it for you.

ah ok, well then that severely limits sdcard booting on this device. basically everyone would need to dump their own "backup" image in case crap goes wrong then :/. with samsung and lg they put the efs and other personal partitions further down so the first 150 or so MB's are just pure bootloaders.
I'm only an interested amateur, so a lot of the discussion goes over my head, but there's a lot of information that you may find useful/interesting in this thread from around page 21 onwards - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2234627

thanks for teh link, it rearrims what I feared. so long as everyone dumps their own sdcard backup then they should be fine, but it makes using a universal one like samsung/lg impossible :/
I do have a working ta.img if it's any good, I have no idea how to flash it back on the phone. The phone does go into flashmode but gets an error. I will get a log from flastool and post it here.
Thanks

You can get it back with SAmanager or with the soft given by an XDA member but I don't remember who, I can upload it if you want

I just had a quick look at SA Manager. Unless I'm mistaken, it runs on the phone itself, therefore it won't help if the phone will not boot.

Oh yeah you're right, I forgot he cannot boot anymore. There should be a solution, I'll try to find out and come later
There is definitely nothing that can be done if the TA has been tampered with.
It was apparently possible to unbrick some older Sony devices, but the methods used do not work on our device.

Did you try to flash with SEUS ? I think you should try this may be it will solve your issue.. I'm not an expert but give it a try
Hard brick means hard brick.
The TA is part of the chain of trust. The first thing that happens when powering on the device in any mode is the bootloader checks signatures and stops boot if anything has been tampered with. The only way to fix this would be to push the correct TA image to the phone, but it's not possible to get the phone into a state where it's possible to do this.
I haven't been in this situation, but I will be very very surprised if SUS is able to repair his phone.

Yes, may be in the future someone will find a way to restore it, it would be nice, I hope so.
it may be possible, youd have to run some VERY specific commands. youd basically be writing the ta.img to the sdcard then skipping the amount of blocks the ta.img is and going from there for the rest of it. if that were to work and it would sdcard boot then it would boot the older ta.img you backed up and may boot long enough to get to flash mode then so you could then flash a full tft and be back to booting, or even just dd ta.img back on and restore the backup you do have.
Thanks for all your input guys

[Q] xperia v bootloop-problems with bootloader-fastboot

Hello and good day.
i hope i can find here some help.
SHORT FACTS AT THE END OF THE POST
my phone went to bootloop after i applyed a backup i made with titanium backup.
sadly, i also restored all system files and my phone went to bootloop when i restarted.
xperia v lt25i with fastboot installed and the bootloader is unlocked.
so as much as i know connecting it to the pc pressing the volume button down the green light goes on and it should be the fastboot mode.
pressing the volume button up and the light goes blue should be the bootloader.
the problem is the phone only stays for 2 secounds in this mode and then going into the battery load mode.
this leaves not much time to install the device drivers on the PC (windows vista)
i managed to install the fastboot driver and now the phone stays +30 secounds in fastboot mode and switches then into the battery mode.
if i try to install the bootloader drivers for the device, he tryes but aborts the install saying "wrong parameter".
during the install he switches from the bootloader into the battery mode.
i installed the android sdk, flashtool(sony mobile flasher), universal adb driver, sony update service, sony pc companion.
sony updateservice says the OS is modified and refuses to update.
the sony pc companion repair function only seems to work with a started phone.
also i somehow manage to get the update/repair function started but it suddenly closes when it downloads/prepares the operation.
connected with active bootloop to the pc he finds the LT25i and wants to install the drivers "sony sa0106 ADB driver interface" but aborts with the reason "wrong parameter"
I had this too before i puted my phone into bootloop.
seems normal coz sony pc companion needs to install the drivers on its own.
when i go into the fastboot mode and open the sony mobile flasher, select in the fastboot toolbox to check the current device status he isnt doing anything.
in the android sdk using the fasstboot tool over the console he shows nothing when giving the "fastboot devices" command.
with "fastboot update" or "fastboot continue" he says "waiting for device" but gets stuck in it.
please if you have any advice what i can do or try or even a solution on my problem let me know.
i would be very happy to solve this problem.
-----
iam a total noob when it comes to programing but 4 days ago i succesfully repaired the phone with a broken touch-lcd screen.
so if a possible solution requires a hardware mod-hack i have good experiance with even soldering smd components with a solder-needle.
LONG SHORT :
bootloop
Bootloader driver doesnt install on the PC.
Fastboot seems to give no response to commands.(in the windows device manager the device is installed as "SEMC flash device")
EDIT:Still trying to get the driver for the flashmode installed with the error "wrong parameter".
may seems to be a windows problem, maybe caused by old driver garbage but i have no solutuion.
How do i get the phone operational again?
Thank you for your time.
First download Flashtool it has required drivers installed. To use Sony Update Service and PC Companion you need to relock bootloader. Forget about hardware hack
thanks for your reply

i deleted some drivers and reinstalled flashtool and the flashtool driverpack.
the s1bootloader or fastboot is now listed in the devicemanager as SEMC flashdevice.
flashtool recognizes the phone in flashmode but gets disconnected after +-40 secounds and then reconnects.
strangely....he now is performing the flash operation.
reading and writing data to the phone or at least trying to do the operation.
the phone is now connected without battery and is off.
no lights on and the screen is dark.
i will wait for the operation to complet.
is this normal??
is it flashing now? or can i abort the operation?

...all the time.
is it maybe a windows problem?
what can i try or do?
I'm not sure what you have done but this is the correct procedure:
- First of all copy downloaded ftf file to folder c:\Program Files (x86)\Flashtool\firmwares\
- Start flashtool without phone connected to PC.
- Click on thunder icon.
- Choose Flashmode in given list.
- In next window (Firmware selector) choose ftf file you copied to firmware folder, tick to wipe all given options (APPSLOG, CACHE, DATA) and tick 'No final verification.
- Click on Flash and wait for files to be prepared.
- When dialog box appear connect your phone (powered off) to USB cable holding volume down.
- Green led with appear for moment and then it will go off.
- Wait for the process to be finished.
yes yes
he goes into flashmode and so on but after +- 40 secounds he automaticly exits the flashmode the sony sign appears on the screen and the green lamp goes off then starting again in flashmode.
so he periodicaly disconnects the phone and reconnects.
it doesnt matter if i touch the phone or not, so it isnt a broken cable problem.

during the flash operation when the phone is off it suddenly switches back on, as i said showing the sony logo on the screen.
interessting after the last try to flash he now stays in the flashmode and now for over 5 mins.
i tried again but he stoped showing this :

i dont think its the tool.
what could be the reason for the phone to continiusly bootloop in flashmode??
WHY?!?
WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING WRONG?!?
it was to 3/4 finished flashing and then....
what does the error mean?
block verification failed?
iam using now the latest flashtool and the Xperia V_9.1.A.1.140_1270-9887_R1I_CE.ftf
what could be the reason for it to just break the flashing???
my god it was almost finished!!

edit:
well at least the flashing seems to have a effect.
the phone gets stuck at the sony logo and doesnt permanently reboot.
Thank god! and you guys 4 helping me.
it works now wit 9.1.A.0.490.
it starts and works.
SUS and PCC and the update function in the phone dont work.
is there any way to make them working again? or do i need to manualy flash every update now?
a lot of thanks iam happy its running
You probably broke something from system files.
One more question, is your bootloader unlocked?
EDIT:
Ok, I red the first post again, it is unlocked, you have to relock it first for SUS and PCC to work.
okay? i suppose i can lock and unlock it as often as i want?
thanks a lot guys
you are the best
EDIT:
okay, locked it PCC doesnt work but SUS seems to work now
again thanks ))

how did you solve it? can you please tell me? i have problems on xperia t.
-.- SUS isnt working.....it aborts after 3 mins and my phone is broken again -.-
i have no compleat idea how i fixed it in the first place.
i deinstalled the drivers via device manager and reinstalled them, used the latest flashtool version and tried a few different ftf files.
it seems important to use the ones which are for your region, the newest 4.1 android version and the 4.3 version are around 700mb big.
the one that worked is a older 4.1 version and only 500mb big.
the 500mb version worked for me although even with locked bootloader the over the air update funktion didnt worked.
i think it has something to do with the windows version and the usb port you are using to flash.
iam using windows vista which is a quite bit buggy installation.
the usb ports seem to have usb 1 drivers installed, sometimes randomly i get a bluescreen so its not really a system you want to use for flashing.
maybe my system has a problem with the system RAM causing bluescreens.
i think it would answer why i get a "block verification failed" error when flashing via flashtool one of the 700mb big ftf´s.
so if possible try to use a different PC.
i read somewhere on the net , if flashing aborts you should reinstall your PC and try again.
i had a previous error where the PC refused to install the appropriate drivers required to flash my phone.
driver install aborted with the error "wrong parameter" which seems to is caused by "driver refuse", old driver data which interfere.
i have no idea how i fixed this, went to bed and the next day it just worked.
make sure you have nothing running in the background that could interfere.
Comodo internet security and virus scanner may interfere.
also always start flashtool in admin mode, dont connect to a USB-hub.
just try and try again.
enable the debug log in flashtool and read at what point he aborts.
i will try now to repair mine again -.-
again rebooting all the time....thanks SUS^^
Thank you for your help guys

flashtool brings its own drivers it needs.
in the flashtool folder is one called drivers, you can install them from there.
the new 4.3 ftf just aborted and even the 4.1 ftf which worked before.
so i think its trail and error and pray that it works the next time^^
-.- and again .....
There's one more thing, try to install INF file from Sony Unlock page.

[Q] Stuck on Flashmode?

So, I'm following this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/general/root-14-4-0-157-lb-ubl-t2933298
I'm stuck on the Flashtool part, I boot it into flashmode (led flashes red then green then goes off) and then I attempt to flash kernel only FTF onto my Z1 but it gets stuck at "Phone ready for flashmode operations".
Below is my Flashtool log on "INFO" & "Debug" level.
I'm really clueless on how to proceed with this, I can't find anyone getting the same errors as I am and as far as I can tell, I'm doing everything correctly.
Also, just FYI: I booted Win8 into non-driver enforcement mode and installed the Flashtool drivers from there with no errors.

[HELP] Hard Bricked Sony Xperia V LT25i

I have Sony Xperia V LT25i.
*Bootloader unlocked
*Running in Custom ROM Lineage OS 14.1
*Rooted
It starts when I create a partition for my SD Card . Then I enter TWRP and accidentally wipe Legacy SD Card and SD Card. When I restart the device it doesn't boot . I also try using Power + Volume Down and Power + Volume Up it didn't respond. When I charged it no charging indication is present no red LED lights and charging screen.
No Flash Mode , no Fastboot .
I connect it thru PC but it reads as q_usb_dload.
I also installed necessary drivers that I think works fine.
I tried some methods using S1 Flashtool I used TA Backup that I downloaded andnow it reads as SOMC Flash Device.
I used latest Xperia Flashtool by Adroxyde and downloaded Stock ROM from XperiaFirm. When I\m flashing my device its stuck in Reading Device Information.
Is there anyway I can fix this??
I don't have the original TA Backup , so I searched download one that is same as my device.
Log from S1 Tool.
