I've recently bought an HTC Butterfly S (901s) and I must admit it's a wonderful device.
Having owned an HTC One too, I wanted to have all its good stuff with a bigger screen, bigger battery and expandable storage.
Well, to me the Butterfly S does the magic: it has "almost" everything and more (aluminum unibody design aside of course!)
Well, today I just discovered that something else must be added to the "almost" session: the OIS. I though the Butterfly S had exactly the same camera module the HTC One has, while now I see the OIS is not present. That's a pity, although nothing too dramatic to me, I'd rather have the expandable storage and other stuff.
Anyway, with this post I just wanted to find out other things the Butterfly S misses in respect to the HTC One.
The first thing that comes to my mind is the HAAC mic. I've been searching this info everywhere with no luck (there seems to be very few info about this device!), does any of you know for sure if these kind of mics are missing or they are used into the Butterfly S?
Another hardware diff may be about RAM type: is it LPDDR2 or LPDDR3?
Thanks in advance
Just try to record some very loud music with your Butterfly S and you will know if it has the HDR mic. I also want to find out about this as that will decide which device to get.

I think the biggest factor is the build - the Butterfly S has a glossy plastic build that's finished like a car paint while the One comes with the famous aluminium body of which the chamfers around the edges are susceptible to dents upon impact. I see a lot of value for the grey variant of the Butterfly S - best looking plastic phone (but that's purely personal opinion). As for the battery life, the One probably has enough for a day for most people but having 3200mAh in the Butterfly S does assure you that you can get through a day regardless of what you do. Whichever the case, I still have not made my purchase yet - still struggling like you. LOL!
I got a vouchers from my telco (StarHub) and will expire on the 1st Sep... so I still do have some time to think. Samsung S4 will be my third choice... their keyboard is not as good as HTC though and heard it lags.
I like the battery factor and expandable storage for Butterfly S. How how how?!

Lucky you, your telco is StarHub. M1's prices are just off putting. And yeah, the battery life is really good, easily can last you the whole day on a single charge.

With the variety of third party keyboards available that performs better than stock and allow u to sync your dictionary across devices, stock keyboards should not be a deciding factor imo.

But are you using one now? What colour did you get? So you are using M1? How much did you pay for your phone?

I currently have the Butterfly S and previously had the One. The One was a wonderful phone and the reason I changed was... well, I got it stolen... So I decided to try the new Butterfly S that was just released.
Both are really nice devices, but if I was to decide which I prefer, I think I like the Butterfly S just because of the larger battery (and the expandable storage a plus). The build quality of the One is much better, but I usually use a case so it's usually not really noticeable. I'm also not too crazy about taking pictures so the missing OIS doesn't bother me too much either. It'll just going to be quicks snaps and if I really wanted to take nice pictures I'll use my professional camera.
It's bulkier and heavier in my pocket, but it's just something I'll have to live with.
Oh a BIG factor for me would be LTE. It supports it here in Asia, but I think it doesn't support LTE in the US? In that case, I think I would consider the One.
Between the GS4 and the One, I think the One is cooler

Yeah using it now in red colour on M1. What I did was to recontract for an iPhone 5, brought it down to mobilesquare, traded in and topped up for the butterfly s. All in all only paid $170, much better than paying the cut throat price of M1's.

And yes, thankfully here in Singapore, the units here supports LTE!

I had to think about what OIS was. It's Optical Image Stabilization. I have both the One and Butterfly S and I hadn't noticed a difference. Actually, I took a shot with the S in pretty dim light and it was pretty sharp (although somewhat noisy but on par with the other phones or even better). So I would say it might not matter in real life terms. The camera settings still lets you choose "anti-shake" so I don't know why that is if there is no OIS.
But I'll tell you something funny, I think the S seems to expose the pictures better...
The S doesn't have the physical "wow" of the One when you pick it up, but in most things it is a more practical phone, so I prefer using it right now over the One.
Ken
After much consideration, I had gotten myself one silver HTC Butterfly S and so far loving it!

If anyone is interested in comparison photos between One (with OIS) and Butterfly S (without OIS), I found the site http://www.max-up.ru/news-apple/htc-butterfly-s-vs-htc-one.html
Although it's in Russian, you can compare the photos, which were shooted by One and Butterfly S.
Here a good comparative in benchmarks amongst One and others
Well, i'm glad i found this thread, as i just bought my HTC One Stealth Black yesterday and since i've already did my homework on which one to buy, compared to the Butterfly S, i wanted to share my views and opinions. By the way, i buy all my devices unlocked (international), so for me, carrier or 4G LTE availability is not an issue.
Butterfly S v/s One
Advantages of using the newer Butterfly S:
- Faster CPU (it's actually the exact same Snapdragon 600 as in the HTC One, but just overclocked and i believe there are apps which allow you to overclock your HTC One to boost it from 1.7 GHz to 1.9 GHz. The GPU stays the same with the Adreno 320 on both devices. On a side note, if HTC had implemented a Snapdragon 800 into the newer Butterfly S, it would have been a different story.)
- Bigger display (it's 5" versus HTC One's 4.7", which isn't a huge difference in my opinion. I've seen both phones side by side and given that you are sacrificing the One's industry-leading PPI record of 468 to Butterfly S's 441, i'd say you're not losing if you go with either one of them. But it's definitely very cool to say that you own the device with the highest PPI until now and probably till the end of 2013. Having a slightly bigger 5" display is not worth singing any praise about, unless you happen to own an Xperia Z Ultra with 6.44" - lol)
- Removable microSD storage (it's a trade-off with respect to the One, as you get half the amount of internal memory, which is faster than external memory and 32 GB is more than enough for the average user - i personally have 25 GB left on my One which i'm trying to fill up with some worthy 1080p movies and games)
- 3 capacitive buttons (versus the One's 2 buttons. OK, i admit i got a gripe with HTC due to this limitation, but then it's not exceptionally annoying and stressful that you can't live without. Double-tap more and get your fingers some exercise or just root and install the feature that enables your HTC logo to become a third capacitive button - problem solved!)
- Bigger battery (This seems to be the most common deciding factor for those considering to buy the best HTC phone (or simply put, the best phone) available right now. HTC One doesn't exhibit any particular weakness with its battery for the average user which lasts a day or more. But for heavy users or people who travel a lot, then the Butterfly S becomes the obvious choice. However, HTC One has a Power Saver mode which works really well, which i thought might be worth mentioning. Also, bigger battery means a beefier device which adds weight to your pocket. If you don't mind the extra weight and really need more juice to keep the lights on, then go for the Butterfly S)
- Gorilla Glass 3 (versus Gorilla Glass 2 on the One. This is not worth factoring into your decision to get either of these devices, as in my honest opinion, the strength of the Gorilla Glass 2 is already excellent by today's standards and Gorilla Glass 3 shatters just as Gorilla 2 in the exact same drop tests. I have yet to see a Gorilla Glass 3 device survive a drop test where a Gorilla Glass 2 device has failed in real life (not the testing done by Corning at the exhibitions where they have a simple piece of their newer glass under pressure from a clamp or dropping a metal ball on it and then tell you that the newer glass is better). Although i have to agree that having the latest glass on your device is always nice and comforting.)
Advantages of using the HTC One:
- Highest display resolution currently available on any smartphone.
- 32 GB internal memory (versus 16 GB on the Butterfly S) which is fastest when copying/loading/installing apps or games or anything else, for that matter.
- Gorgeous aluminium metal build (it gives the HTC One a unique look and feel among all other phones out there, including the plastic Butterfly S)
- Optical Image Stabilization in the One's camera (which is missing from the Butterfly S)
- And i've kept the best reason for last, which really gave me a huge push to go for the HTC One - since you're already on XDA, check out the forums for both of these devices and based on the number of threads and replies, you should easily be able to spot the big difference in developer support. Most importantly, there is the existence of the HTC One Google Edition. There is no (and never will have a) Google Edition for the Butterfly S. Basically, what does that mean? Don't expect anything other than minor updates and bug fixes once 2013 is over as HTC will obviously be backing its new line-up of 2014 flagship smartphones - but if you own an HTC One, you can ditch the stock ROM (by 2014, it'll be outdated when Sense 6.0 comes out and all of 2013's devices are left to run on Sense 5.x) and still stay at the forefront of the Android scene by rooting and installing the official HTC One Google Edition ROM, which works perfectly. There is no waiting time for XDA developers to adapt the GE ROM to your international HTC One. You can basically turn your HTC One with Sense into a 100% working HTC One Google Edition. Even OTA works! The other Google Edition phone (Galaxy S4, shhh) unlike HTC One, cannot benefit from a direct installation of its GE ROM variant (i9505G), as there are differences in hardware which requires an XDA developer to stitch things up and OTA doesn't work so you'll have to wait weeks or months after a new Android version is released before you can install a stable version of the latest pure Android ROM on your S4 (This applies only to the i9505 as the Exynos is a mess with missing drivers, but that's for another topic in another section of the forum).
So, that's it, folks! I hope you found my review and analysis helpful. Please leave some feedback and feel free to discuss if you agree or not.

In my case, the HTC One is definitely the one, since i ended up buying the HTC One over the Butterfly S. The difference in price between these two handsets is negligible considering that you're already going to spend a lot to get either the HTC One or the Butterfly S. But i have exhaustively discussed my point of view in my previous post above, so feel free to disagree if you feel that i was partial to the HTC One in my comparative analysis or if i missed any other important aspect(s) worth mentioning.
Hello people!
The upcoming Friday my contract with my cell company expires so the company in order to convince me to sign a new contract is offering me:
HTC One or Sony XPERIA Z1.
Beeing for 5 years a user of various HTC devices I was pretty happy appart my latest HTC ONE X that spend last summer around 2 months in service changing twice mainboard and battery on warranty.
This last experience made me a bit skeptical about going along with the latest HTC device.
Are you happy with your HTC ONE?
Any significant problems you encountered?
Is the camera as bad on daylight as I read in the various reviews?
Do you think I should go with the ONE or maybe try something new with the Z1?
Thanks in advance for your help and feedback.
Cheers!

Z1. Without a doubt. Use the heck out of it for the 14 days so that you can return it if you don't like it though.
The One has a terrible camera. The Z1 doesn't have OIS, but it's better in almost every other regard unless you're a AL-phile or need stereo sound.
Seriously. There is absolutely no comparison between the One and the Z1. They are two different generations of phone and should be treated as such.
I don't like my One. It's not what it was advertised to be, and I wouldn't recommend anybody buy the H1 in light of recent phone announcements like the Z1 and the N1 and the N3 and the N5 and the G2 and the (?)S5. Wow. Those names doe.

Lol, someone is having a bad day?
The fact you are having troubles with your HTC One, does not mean everyone does.
Yes, they are two different phones, but the speed difference is only noticable with really heavy games and benchmarks.
With day-to-day use, a person cannot tell the difference.
A bit more neutral non-biased oppinion;
If you look holding a premium device, that feels like a premium device, you can buy the HTC One.
There is not competition in terms of build quality, not a chance.
I'm a stock Android fan, but HTC has done a REALLY good job with Sense 5 (and an even better one with Sense 5.5).
The Snapdragon 600 will hold easily for the next two years..
I'd try them both, and my suggest, if you do not take the HTC One, take a look at the new Nexus.
Updates from Google, Snapdragon 800 and a nice looking phone (dunno about the build quality though).

Al = Aluminum. And what Justin^^^ said is true. Suddenly, anything not made out of the finest materials feels cheap to me. In terms of premium feel, nothing can beat the One. It strikes all the right chords, and fits just right. And I do a lot of gaming on the One, and I actually DO see some lag, and its noticeable.
I maintain my position on the camera though. If you're looking for a camera that can capture any detail beyond the "with so and so at so and so", look elsewhere. But for just social media, this camera is fine. It won't perform in low light unless you get a perfect unit (unlikely), so don't count on that.
The Z1 has tons of cool stuff like SD, waterproof, dustproof, snapdragon 800, 20.7 MP camera, 3000 mAh battery etc. It comes down to this: do you want a premium feeling phone that performs adequately, or do you want a beast of a phone that looks and feels only slightly worse.
AL = Aluminum, H1 = HTC One, Z1 = Sony Xperia Z1, N1 = Oppo N1, N3 = Samsung Galaxy Note 3, N5 = Nexus 5, G2 = LG G2, S5 = Samsung Galaxy S5.

@ Op
Here small comparison just for you between the two
Soc = Xperia z1
Screen quality = HTC One
Sound via headphones = HTC One
Sound loudness & quality via speaker(s)= HTC - here is definetelly no comparison dual stereo speakers vs mono low quality/loudness speaker ..
Build quality = HTC One .. glass simply isn't better then aluminum
Front facing camera = HTC One
Rear facing camera = i don't know what to say here z1 with current firmware trully sux but i know it'll get better later so i'd say z1
Battery life = HTC One ..
Software = HTC One - The software is miles ahead of z1 and better optimised it's lagg/stutter free
Overall issues with the device are far less then with z1 , with 1 you can only get purple tint camera while z1 has issues pretty much with everything
As for the camera @ Op take a look at this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=46539474&postcount=2955
HTC One - camera samples thread -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2169626&page=296
Xperia z1 - camera samples thread -- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438859&page=43
Here the whole thread with bunch of photos so take a look a bit before you decide , take a look at z1 samples as well
That's pretty much how the camera works , if this isn't good enough for you and camera is priority for you got with z1
Lastly if you need any more insights about HTC One feel free to PM me i'd be happy to tell you more about it and give you more samples from my own camera if needed from any scenario also answer every question you got about HTC One.

I only buy Nexus devices and now the Google Play Edition has come into picture running Vanilla Android. What would you recommend? Which one would you buy at the moment if you were in my shoes? This should help you decide
Too bad the Nexus 5 does not have a premium build quality like the One.
In fact, imo, there is no other phone (other then iPhone 5(s)) that can compete in terms of build quality.
I like running GPE ROMs on my One, cause I like stock Android.
To me, stock Android and the premium feel of the One is pretty much perfect.
But stock/Vanilla Android will never run as fluent on the One, then on a Nexus device.
So if your choice is dependent on how the software will run, I'd say the Nexus 5.
If I compare my friend's Nexus 4 to my One, even the Nexus 4 is more fluent and faster, only the way stock Android runs that is.
Cause in terms of raw processing power, the Nexus 4 does not come close to the One ofcourse.
If you want the best of both, and dont mind the loss of a bit speed in terms of UI, I'd say the One GPE.
I'd pick the Nexus 5 though.
The money you save with it, is worth it aswell.

I too would go for Nexus. What it loses in build, it more makes up more than enough in price and support.
So, if you are gonna buy nexus, i would recommend you to watch this video to decide whether to go for black or white http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBCaAq_pKjY
There are structural and build differences
Go with the nexus. I had nexus 4 but took my brothers one and he ordered the 5. The phone is amazing. I love the bigger/wider screen even though it has on screen buttons. I actually miss the onscreen button layout from my nexus 4. In terms of fluidity both phones are very fast but comparing stock vanilla Roms, nexus will always be better because of sense framework on the gpe. Nexus 5 also has the newest processor so it's more futureproof i suppose in that sense. And even if its by a couple weeks, Nexus gets updated first if that makes a difference to you. Development will also be better on nexus, I'd get it just for Franco kernel and touch control lol. I didn't test his phone out a whole lot but camera is on par with HTC one. I only took pictures in my basement and preferred the nexus over HTC. The true HDR+ feature works wonders.

wrong, 4.2.2 GPE had a sense base framework, with the 4.3 it's completly removed and stock so will be the 4.4

i think is overrated have 4x 2.3ghz cpu instead of a 4x 1.7, you can run everything even on a snapdragon 400.. the 800 is better ofc but an upgrade from the 600 is pointless.

all major sites (android police, android autority, anand, theverge, ecc) and the best youtubers says that the 8mpx camera on the N5 is pretty crap, not hardware site but software site, like postprocessing and all that stuff and a major upgrade is waited to fix poor quality video/photo.
reviewers says also that the stock sound on the N5 is low (like the Galaxy Nexus problem) but could be fixed using custom roms/kernels.. i mean the loudspeaker and not music like but ringtones, Google wtf are you doing? Build quality is medium, back cover is nice touchy.. and the camera gap si a bad choice also.
M7 has a better build quality overall, will have the same os with the GPE conversion and OTA (~15 days), better sound (a lot better), screen is a full 1080p with external buttons, you could switch to Sense if needed.
the only thing i wish i could have on the M7 converted is the amoled display with the Moto X active notification, that would be fantastic.
PRO for the N5? the price.
oh yes, the always listening feature: only works on EN-US, and extra US Google Now is pretty useless atm.
ps: in my country M7 could be found starting from 430€ new, the N5 is 350€ from Play Store.. no kidding.
Your preference of capacitive buttons is pure opinion you can't say which will be better for him. I liked it because it's faster navigation ( no holding down home for Google now, menu or recents). Plus I used 180 flip on nexus 4 and my buttons would always be on the bottom. Also, I didn't know 4.3 removed sense framework but how is beats working? I didn't really test camera that much just took a few snaps and I read the Engadget review and they said it had better snaps than HTC one in some situations (not always obviously). Wheni talked about the camera I meant my personal preference I'm not a photography expert. The htc one increases light exposure hence better night pics but from what I've seen in the time I have used it is light from different sources gets distorted. For example, in the basement the picture came out good but light from the TV was too bright and from the light bulbs too and this created distortion in that area only. With the nexus I was still able to pick up the same quality image but without the distortion on the TV screen and around the light bulbs. Build quality I agree HTC is better but heavier depends on preference again. The plastic isn't that bad it has a good feel to the back and doesn't squeak like most galaxy phones. I didnt test external speakers/sound output but nexus 4 was poor so i hope they would've learbed from it. Although faux and Franco kernels fixed any problems I had so the same can be done with nexus 5. Again, you can't just write off the processor as no big deal. It is a step up and should be considered especially since the newer hardware is cheaper than the old. And he's not upgrading from a 600 he's choosing betweens phones that have 600 and 800. All depends on what he needs in a phone.

Someone blames HTC for not having navbar on the One, i would never understand this.. ok it's my opinion, like what i'm thinking about the navbar on tablets, but it's another story.
Camera on N5 will probably fixed with a better postprocessing engine, not that big deal, but sound is really an issue.. and kernels are not an excuse because a lot of people just stay on Stock Rom and maybe just root/busybox, they will never loose time or have the knowledge to flash a deodexed modded cooked rom with custom kernel to improve something that should just work fine out of the box.. want to talk about the sound volume problem on the Galaxy Nexus? or the really poor wifi and the C8 bug? and what about the Nexus 4? with the loudspeaker inudible when it's on a flat surface? they fixed with a new phisical revision.. and the washed color screen? only fix is over kernel with colour control.
Talking about the CPU/GPU ofc it's an upgrade from snap600 to 800, but it's worth? only for the geek i would say, speed is blazing fast for both of them and the only benefit could be on battery usage, maybe 800 is better but who knows? ony the Note3 and the HTC One Max have the 800 version and they have both totally different battery capacity and different OS (touchwiz and sense) so cannot be comparable, soon we will see.. gaming side they are both excelent.. you can play Battlefield at the same level with an i5 or an i7, with a titan or a 780, bigger number is not always better perfomarce.
the N5 will have other problems like all phones have, M7 is not perfect (build gap in some early ships, pink camera issues) but let's compare: they have the same screen resolution, the same dimension, the same android official version (soon), none of them has removal battery, none has sdcard expansion, both have LTE.. 32gb M7 is 430€ here, 32gb N5 is 399€..
imho m7 wins.

What is your first impressions after unboxing and setting up your new awesome S5?
Mine just walked in from FedEx... updates coming!
First thought why am I going to give up my unlocked Tmobile Note 3 for this.... more thoughts coming after I use it for a while.
After using my HTC One M8 for a week.. It's kinda hard to like the feel of Galaxy S5. Plus kinda disappointed "Download Booster" isn't here

yeah...the M8 is a very nice phone. Now go outside and take some pictures with both phones. No editing no nothing take the exact same pictures. The view them on your computer.....you will see the difference.

"go outside" being key words.. m8 takes great pics inside.but cant crop pics, or you will run out of pixels. its a give and take i guess
That's the only problem with the M8 is the camera

And slower RAM and slower charging rate and slower processor clock speed and not being as water resistant and and and the list can go on for quite some time.
BUT, the M8 has no boot loader issue to worry about.
And don't need to worry about root getting taken away with each new Android update that comes along.
I would not upgrade my unlocked S4 for an M8.

'Slower' RAM and 'slower' processor clock speed will hardly make a perceivable difference in usage. Anything beyond that is placebo. Water resistant is not even a feature to be considered while comparing M8 to S5. People have been using phones for many years without taking them near water or dropping them in water.

I disagree with everything you said, except the CPU.
I had the M8 for a week and I'm happily switching to the S5. Maybe I'm a Sammy guy I'm not sure. I loved the M8 and almost everything about it but I just couldn't "fall in love" with it. I was disappointed with the camera overall. I found more uses with the S5 package. The fingerprint scanner(works very well), bigger screen(without the onscreen buttons), more vivid display, in hand feeling(yes the M8 is built great but awkward to use at times), the camera(I have kids and actually print photos from my phone) and finally use with the Gear 2. I'm a watch guy and really liked the Galaxy Gear.
I've had the M8, G2, Note 3, One and Nexus 5 so I have a good sampling size. (yes I have a problem, don't make fun)

I have had the G2, M7, S4, N5 and now the M8, personally I find the S5 a complete turn off due to its locked down nature that alone made my decision to use an upgrade on the M8, only way I consider a S5 is if its reasonably priced on Play store as GPE..but that's just my personal preference. I'm sure the S5 will sell tons and is a good phone, I just cant deal with a locked down phone, not to mention the price premium of the base 16gb over a m8 that comes standard with 32.

Water damage is probably the most likely cause of a broken device. Broken screens can usually be replaced for cheap and a relatively easy DIY. Fixing a water damaged device, on the other hand, can be expensive and hard to do...if at all. I don't know about you, but the fact that I will never have to worry about water with the S5 is a great selling point.

I can't disagree with you at all on either issue. I'm very disappointed that it is locked down. I managed to work around that on my Note to get what I needed so hopefully it will be the same on the S5 or it will be a short run.

Agree 1,000%. The One M8 being so developer friendly is a major selling point, and worthy of supporting HTC the underdog, you can have a stock ROM, a Tweaked Sense 6 ROM, or a GPE ROM, different kernels for OC the processor, or underclock it. HTC allows pretty much total control of the One M8 is you want.
Samsung + U.S. Carriers = Nazis, locking it down tight, zero control of your phone. Juts root at best, to do cosmetic tweaks.
Is the S5 better than the One M8 ? Yeah, maybe, but not by much. The M8 does have the better battery life, which to me is #1 most important. But the S5 is waterproof, it has a brighter screen, well that's about it.

No, not "maybe". It is better than the M8 in every category. Also, the M8 does not have better battery life than the S5. It has been proved many times now the S5's battery edges past the M8's. Not to mention, the obvious removable battery option. And there are many other things that are better with the S5 that you may not find "useful", but many others would.
Just because you prefer one device over the other doesn't magically make the other less better. Any way you cut it, the S5 is the better device. Plain and simple. After that, it just comes down to what the user prefers over the other and which compromises they're willing to make over the other. You pick the M8, you lose removable battery, better display, water resistant, etc...but gain developer friendly, metal body, etc. You pick the S5, you lose metal body, less developer friendly, etc. It's a trade-off either way.

Battery Life
http://anandtech.com/show/7903/samsung-galaxy-s-5-review/5
The Galaxy S 5 falls behind the new HTC One M8 by a little bit, for battery life, especially if you consider the smaller capacity battery.
As far as hardware goes, the two phones, M8 and S5 share pretty much identical internals, so performance is neck and neck equal, trading blows. I agree the S5 has the brighter screen, that is better than the M8, and the S5 is waterproof, the M8 is not. Sense 6 is less bloated of a skin compared to the heavy Touchwiz. And I don't need a heart rate monitor on my cellphone, or do magic air gestures either.
End of the day, the two phones are super close in performance and battery department. I just prefer the open nature and developer friendly M8 that I can tweak to my hearts desire, over a locked down, anti-developer phone.
Thought this is a first impressions thread. Not a S5 versus HTC m8. I would like to hear about the S5.

Any early owners know if the always listening S Voice or Google Now works with the screen off like the Moto X?
Just one month til I can upgrade!
Long story short, my current phone is 3 years old.. and It's becoming unreliable..
I was gonna get the 5X.. but seeing the specs of the 6 made the decision tough...
The Nexus 6 is a lot more bang for buck.... You're getting a huge screen, a metal frame, OIS, NO USB C crab, 3 GB RAM, Water resistance, better speaker.
A fingerprint scanner would have been great, but for the price of the 6, I can't justify even spending extra 50$ to get the 5X.
I'm not sure though about the performance difference between the two. SD805 and SD808 don't look that different spec wise.
I'm just worried about the size though. I'm coming from a tiny 4.3 inch screen (i9100).. and I know this phone is huge that some people actually complained about its big size..
Currently it's sold for about 350$ (32gb version) in a local retailer here... Is there any cheaper deals out there for a new one ?

You can find it on places like swappa for alot less.
The size does take a bit to get used to. Not to much though.

That depends on where you live. One is for the US and North America and the others is for the rest of the world. That depends on if you can connecto to 4g/3g where you are.

Mostly because too many people that are making them are using subpar parts. The tech will take a few years to take hold. I am in the same boat. I am in no rush to change. Right now I have one cable for all my devices. I dont want to have to carry another cable around.

Well, currently for me... An Old USB port is much better... I won't have to buy and carry adapters with me wherever I go... Maybe in 2 or 3 years when USB C become more mainstream, I'd sure buy a phone with a USB C. But now, NO !
And the fact that some of the adapters being sold on Amazon can be considered deadly for your device and can cause problems is another downside...

Your brain and hands are used to the Nexus 6 size quite fast and after that there is no going back to a 5-5,5 inch screen imo. Besides the camera and fingerprint scanner the N6 is superior to the 5X , especialy the speakers are much better and i think the screen is very good.

Not going to sugar coat it here, the Nexus 6 takes horrendous photos in low light in my experience. Other than that it's a great phone and I highly recommend it. The 5x on the other hand should take the same quality photos as the 6P since they have the same hardware. The 6P takes great photos and therefore so does the 5x, unless my logic is flawed somewhere.

yeah, it's acceptable. The issue that I have is the camera simply not letting enough light in in those dark situations. It's workable though, and in adequate lighting with HDR and OIS it makes it a good shooter. I absolutely love this phone and actually just ordered a replacement. It is going to have update support for a while and is a beastly device.

lol, but i disagree here very much. sure, the nexus 6 camera isnt as good as the n6p/5x camera, but so isnt the last iphones camera. the n6 actually has a very good camera, sure its not the best, but its far from anything id ever call horrendous. well, i guess i could if i never knew how to properly use a camera. but i do, know how to use a camera, and im calling it a fairly decent camera. just take a look at me google+ account if you want to see proof https://plus.google.com/+semeonkorsunsky

Your photos do look great....
I've seen enough already... The Nexus 6 Camera with a Manual Camera app does take amazing photos...
coming from nexus 5, the N6 went for as little as 250 USD on amazon during the week after black Friday. I got it for 289$. Camera is good for a smartphone camera. the new camera app is much faster on everything. timely updates from Google or XDA. I would choose 5x because its a plastic LG anyway. if night pics and fingerprint are a must, you have other choices better then 5x at that base price.
the only con of N6 is dimensions, and that only your hands will complain. but your eyes will thank you. Also, as mentioned, there is no going back from 6 inch screen.
I haven't had my hands on the 5x or the 6p. I did come from the HTC One Max (after being my dd, the LCD died suddenly and so did the charge port). Bought a HTC One M7 as a replacement. Took time readjusting to a more common screen size. Then upgraded to the N6. I couldn't be happier. Plus, I've always been a Motorola fanboy. I came from an iPhone 4 and switched to a Droid 4. I like the feel of N6 and the ease of unlocking the BL and rooting. I actually have mine underclocked to 2.2ghz with custom hotplugging that uses only 2 cores most of time unless under heavy load. Camera is nice. It's not the best out there, but you can't argue with 13mp shooter. I installed the M9 camera apk and it works nicely as well. Only thing that will draw me away from the N6 in future years will be something of higher caliber that INCLUDES Expandable SD.
Did I mention the incredible battery life I get?

Well, the majority of my photography takes place on Snapchat which has no manual mode and fairly poor Android support so, my experience has been different then yours. You have proved to me though if you use manual settings and put a little effort in, the nexus 6 can take pretty nice outdoor shots that are not horrendous. I'm sorry.
