[Q] Sony Warranty & C6906 ROMs - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi everyone,
It's been about three months since my C6903 died from flashing (just like many here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2572515). Anyways, Sony finally found another Xperia Z1 to swap with my old one, a C6906. I have a really bad feeling about swapping a C6903 to a C6906, mainly because I will not be able to flash monxDIFIED or iHackers rom. Am I correct on this assumption?
Also, is it normal that warranty takes 3 months to process and resolve, or should it be something I should get angry with Sony Support service when I talk to them about the swap.
All replies welcome, thank you for your time!

This shouldn't be a problem at all. In the 'ealier' days there were indeed problems with custom roms on the C6906 but the developers managed to find a way to fix this, right now the right files get applied automatically if the installer detects you have a C6906.
Overall your experience should be exactly the same, maybe you'll have to wait a day longer if a whole new version of Android comes out before it works on the C6906 but nothing too major.

[Q] Missing IMEI & Baseband: A lost cause??

Hi all,
It seems that my journey to revive my phone( [Q] Xperia Z:Bricked after turning Wi-Fi On. ) has almost come to a dead end.
After flashing various stock ROMs,basebands, kernels etc the phone just refuses to work.
Restoring the TA partition has not helped in restoring it back to normal either.
Somehow I get a feeling that all this has something to do with the IMEI & baseband gone missing.
Even after doing an extensive research on this forum on how to reinstall IMEI & baseband, there seems to be no perfect answer to it.
The few who managed to get IMEI & Baseband after they went missing are ones who either had a complete backup done before losing IMEI & baseband or ones who were lucky enough to get it work with a TA partition restore.
For whom TA partition restore did not work(I have seen a few on this forum) & for those who did not have a TA backup & IMEI and Baseband gone missing after firmware update, there seems to be no workaround.
It would also seem that since the device is fairly new, even the devs & Xperia Z enthusiasts have still to come up with a way of restoring them.
Until then, the case of missing IMEI & Baseband is a lost cause & there is no hope for revival for those folks whose device suffer from it.
Regards
An Xperia Z owner who has (almost) given up.

OH NO!
been trying to find a solution to my bricked Z for almost 2 weeks now. Is it the phone's fault? Should we start a campaign of some sort to warn people against buying their phone? I know the other phone manufacturers aren't perfect too but this is the worst problem i've come accross so far with my phones

[Q] Please help me choose the ROM

Please help me decide between 2 ROMS
I can´t decide between iHackers(minimal) and RomAur.
What i want is clean ROM with good battery life.
Can users of there ROMs write here pros and cons.
Thank you so much
No one can do that, its like asking for the best flavour pizza, it is an individual choice.
try them both for a week and see which one YOU like best
Ya i know but i would like to hear something from users....
Btw.....im quite suprised that Z1 has so small development.....its perfect phone

It's new on the market, give xda some time.
Sony phones have less ROMs than other OEM's phones. Stock ROMs here are very stable and less buggy than those of other manufacturers.
Plus, the camera issues with unlocked bootloaders aren't helping any.
Don't worry, with some time, we'll get good ROMs too. Just have a look at the Xperia Z forum.

I tried monxified and romaur.
Monxified is cleaner (maybe too clean lol) and I like the power menu so i stayed with that.

[Q] T-Mobile Wifi Calling

Hey everyone. Well, I just have a question. I was doing some research on this but couldn't find what I needed.
I have the Sony Xperia Z1 (c6903) and I'm currently on T-Mobile and wondering if there is any apk for the Wifi-Calling? I don't want to flash a rom on my phone, but so far that's the only way, at least from what I read. Pleassee correct me if I'm wrong, it would be the best Christmas present ever! =P
Thanks!

[Q] Is there a complete Xperia Z3 ROM for the Z1?

Hey XDA,
This may be a noobish question, but I'm wondering if there is a ROM that tries to copy every single awesome feature of the Xperia Z3 to the Z1. Since the devices are so similar in specifications, this shouldn't be too difficult I would guess. If I'm checking the development threads however, I only find threads with annoying non-descriptive names such as "superawesomeOMGWTFBBQCOOLROMASDFv42". I can't quite search properly, and searching literally for a "z3 rom" doesn't yield anything for me either.
If there is such a ROM, a link would be greatly appreciated. Does it feature everything like the audio and battery improvements, pencil input, 4K and 120fps video and even tap to wake (which seems kernel based)? That would be awesome and underrated as a ROM
Otherwise, is there a reason why there wouldn't be such a ROM? Is it possible to make anyway? Preferrably this would be a Lollipop ROM of course.
Thanks for reading and any useful reply is greatly appreciated. Have a nice day! :fingers-crossed:
*Shameless bump*
Is no one even interested in such ROM?
I'm astonished
Yo~ bro it's possible to get some feature from Z3 but our Z1 is still Z1. The stock lollipop in Z1 is already quite close to the Z3 version except something (bad audio and nerfed camera douchebag sony lol)
Though there are people working on it actually, if u try the rockz1l rom at least it fixed the audio pretty much

Rom & Mod Reccomendations (Just got a Z1)

Hi,
I'm picking up a Xperia Z1 C6903 for a friend. She basically checks email and takes photos with her phone, so Camera/Video and Battery Life are priority.
Can anyone please recommend a good Rom and/or Mods for me.
I usually get more obscure phones for myself (never had a Sony) without so many options of mods and custom roms, so its a bit harder than I'm used to to sort through the pages on XDA... there so much to go through here so any help to narrow things down a bit for me would be appreciated.
Thanks!

If you /she is not big fan of custom ROM (aospa, paranoid, CM, DU, PAC etc.) I would say just root the phone and use stock ROM.
Stock ROM is best for battery and photos together.
Rooting is good in case she wants Xposed and all the modules.
Don't unlock the bootloader since this will remove some propriety code for display and camera.
I haven't used any stock ROM so can't talk about them.

Thanks, I often find custom roms better for battery life. And can see that there's a few camera mods available. So I assumed a custom rom (either with a Stock based or not?) and camera mod would be the way to go? Also, is the stock camera app the best performer (in terms of image quality?)
Really can't see any need to meddle with the standard rom.
The Xperia range of phones all have outstanding battery life and excellent photo/video software built in as standard.

I was thinking this sound good: [MOD] Z1, Z1C & Z1S 8th Edition - Camera… | Sony Xperia Z1....
And there seems to be a few scripts which claim to improve battery life & speed like Fly-on-Mod...
I guess i'm just not used to stock being the best option!!! I cant help but want to change something
If you want to meddle then root and Xposed would be the simplest option.
But given the original criteria are already met by the standard rom and the fact that it's not your phone I still can't see the need.
Do you really want your friend coming to you with every minor niggle they can dream up, thinking that you caused it by modifying their phone?
Just make sure they upgrade to 5.1.1 which is due out any day now.

thanks.
I've got it running stock KK, rooted, locked bootloader with xposed & dual recovery.
I decided not to update to LP until 5.1.1 is out (any day now it seems...?) due to slow downs in 5.0.2
From what I can see I'll have to update with Flashtool (if I can find the "Customized AU" file) or updated via Sony PC Companion and re-root & re-install recovery.
will both methods will result in a data wipe?
When it does come out - is there a way to update without loosing here data/settings? & will current rooting methods still work (I used easy root?)
Thanks for your help everyone!
