the only other way to change the icon size is to change the DPI and I have never messed with that on my phone
yeah but thats not the only way currently in prism it defines the icon size by cell dims it gives each spot in the navbar its own dims. The hotseat/app-drawer icon gets its own dims to control the size proof the they can be re-sized is right here. And I didnt't touch anything that had to do with the dpi of the image and I didnt touch the other icons around the app drawer just the app-drawer and i simply used the google icon b/c it's larger than the original and i think i have it at like 144x144 right now.

that's nice but how did you change the prism.apk? Isn't it much easier for a normal user to just change the DPI to make all the icons look bigger ?
The Nexus 5 uses a different DPI so the icons seem bigger

Answer to that question is yes and no... The hotseat Id has its own parameters and marginsTop's so essentially it gets pushed down it would create clipping in the hotseat if you did that you would still have to edit xml and dims to make the dpi change work...And i've seen other people asking about changing the dpi with no luck... So not sure if they figured it out yet but yeah I'm just saying you don't have to it with dpi... I posted a tutorial in fisha21's thread on how to do it enjoy.

hey guys, I am wondering if there is a reason why after I make a market widget semit-transparent that the background is a different size/shape then the original solid color
For example I just did Engadget. After I edited the widget_base_plane.9.png and applied the widget the transparency is there but the transparent window does not retain its same size and the text goes over the backgound .. unlike the original one does.
I see that the file I edited retains the same pixel size after I save the edit as the original pixel size of the untouched file.
I did convert to alpha first and then I just changed the opacity to a greater transparency. saved the file to replace the original.
this is the before:

any ideas would help.
I am using apk manager/7-zip to open/sign the apks and either gimp or fireworks for the image editing.
Using the Mytouch 4g with CM RC1
EDIT: .. this may be in the wrong place .. but the questions thread is just that a single thread .. is this the right spot or did i mess up?
Did you re-draw the 1pixle borders in solid black before recompiling? If not, then that is why. You are losing the content areas in the 9 patch.

no I did not ... funny you say that .. cuz I am currently trying to find something on how to do that using gimp .. or even maybe the draw patch tool .. prefferably gimp
im not sure how to go about doing that
from what i have heard is that i have to
1) open the image
2) resize it by 1 pixel less first
3) edit the image like convert to alpha and opacity
4) increase back to 1 pixel
5)then save it
im not sure if those are even the right steps ..
so basically im not sure of the steps or the process for reducing/increasing the pixel.
do i HAVE to draw a border/lines?
do I have to take a pixel off each side?
ya .. basically no idea .. if you know of a good step by step guide or video that would be great. thanks ...as i cant seem to find a damn thing with google lol
EDIT: I tried to use the scale option in GIMP to go from 320x100 pixels to 319x99 pixels .. then edited the image and then back to the orig size. I still get an error in the log that say there was a problem with that particular file about the border having to be full transparent or solid no inbetween alphas .. so im guessing that wasnt the right method lol
I made a set of battery icons to be placed in framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi
icons are 48x48 but get resized automatically by android system

I might use it if it were optimized for the size of the status bar with cleaner looking lines, ie not auto resized by android

what difference does it make if they are optimized for ONE specific screen resolution? you do realize depending what device you are on, it will have to re-size it anyway.
this happens with ALL STOCK IMAGES.
so again, why wouldnt you use them, Mr. 35 posts?

Wow, holy **** first of all settle down.
It must be the compression on your screenshot making it look a little off. I'll give it a shot.
And what does my post count have to do with anything? That is completely irrelevant.
ok swearing is a no no here.and assuming that they wont work rather than asking isnt the best policy either.
also it wouldnt be the compression of the image posted rather the fact that it shows almost tripple actual size.
I don't see anything in the Forum Rules about cursing.

This is really nice. Good work!
Hey guys!
I recently changed my DPI setting to 240 HDPI
Would like to know if there is anything you can do to get the JKay mod to be bigger on the lockscreen. Or at least make more buttons so it fills out the screen cuz it just looks bad specially when its in the center of the screen..
At least it would be nice to put the buttons on the bottom of the screen.
And for all you others who have 240 HDPI density, would be nice if u could post what u had to do to adjust the apps and mods to look good.. So we could have everythin in one thread. Lets see how many replies this thread gets and the i will edit my post so its more of a collection of links or sumthing for users who dont have a clue what to do when they change their DPI settings.
All I had to do was to get exDialer and a modded S-memo
Sent from my superior GT-N7000 using Tapatalk
Where did you get that modded S-memo? It's annoying as hell that the backgrounds don't work anymore after changing DPI. A plain white background is apparently build up of white lines, which get tore apart if you change DPI haha.

I used this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361462
The link on the first post is dead so go to the 9th and there is a new link
and for more info i found this thread also

These threads solved all my problems
I also recommend ADW EX launcher, its awesome, so fast and smooth
Good luck mate
Thanks for the reply!!
Btw, LauncherPro also works great with lower DPI. Setting more columns makes for much more room for icons on the homescreens. And of course more info!

Hey all,
this my first flashable zip file, and don't worry i installed it to my device first
one of the things I don't like about JB 4.1.2 is the Robto font, but I've read that Google improved it a little bit in JB 4.2
If you look closely at the animated GIF below, you'll see that text in 4.2 is slightly bolder with smoother edges and improved kerning (letter spacing).

find the flashable font in the attachment, and tell me if you can recognize any difference. :silly:
yup... the 4.2 font look kind of nice... danke
Now I can understand why I didn't see the differences
i'm running 160 DPI, font is too small to tell the difference
Alright, Enjoy it
yup... on 160 wont realize the different...
Same on my 160dpi small screen I see the difference :good:
Fonts are slightly cleaner but:
- lockscreen clock don't use 4.2 numbers. It's still old fonts.
Over the height of the display area increased (creating an empty area below the numbers) and moves down the rest of the display area ...

I can make you a flashable 4.1.2 fonts again if you didn't take a nandroid backup.
I have the same version JB 4.1.2 CM10.
and the clock on the lock screen requires certain 4.2 lock screen, and 4.2 lock screen widgets (which we don't have yet).
"Over the height of the display area increased "
can you take a screenshot of this issue , I'm on 160 dpi and everything is just fine.
Thanks for this, works well, although I'd recommend removing thin and light Roboto, look horrible on the 7.7

i would suggest you to try fonts installer from google play, there's really some beautiful fonts, really bold and clear on the tab.
roboto slim isn't that bad, but it need higher pixel density to become smoother on the screen, and our tab is only 198 ppi.
On my S7, I was able to change the display resolution and fit more on the screen. N8 has that built into the OS but everything is too large even in the smallest setting. Is there a way to reduce the display further with Nova launcher or something?
Have you tried changing the DPI setting under minimum width in the developer options menu
No, what would you change it to so it doesn't screw things up?
Keyboard and icons don't scale well when doing it. So annoying.

i use 444 and all looks good
I run at 550 the only thing I have noticed is setting up the phone you have to keep your dpi low.
Edit : I am an idiot running that on S8 I was lurking Note 8 forums not the S8 forums my bad.

I know I should not be in here I can feel my wallet getting lighter.
I run 625, 600 is where the browser switches to tablet format. Nova makes dealing with icons very easy. I set them at 125% and scaled the icon font up. You can then adjust the icon grids to a more natural layout.
Queston. The device model works well but defaults to its values when you toggle resolution.
Is there an app that can resolve this?
