I mistakenly clicked the first option in the *#9090# service menu, after that my phone restarted and i now have an unknown baseband and no mobile network, It says i need to insert a sim, there is one in there, and i even got a brand new one to make sure it wasnt that.
I am not even sure what it was that got clicked, i believe it was the first on the list. I have tried searching but i cannot find anything on this, even knowing what that option says will help.
I have tried the modem fix, i have reflashed stock 4.3 and 4.4 nothing works.

hi all
i thought i would attempt to flash my samsung s with the new beta froyo update.
i followed this guys tutorial.
( cant link to it sorry its the noobs guide with detailed instructions through kies and odin)
i used the odin approach
i managed to root the phone.
on reboot it asked for an unlock code (o2 uk) so i went on to try and follow the steps about unlocking it. which neither worked all the way through the steps.
on reboot it appears to have signal and in the about section it says i am onnected to the o2 network but when i try to make a call is says "data network not available with an ok button, which when pressed will return you to the ome screen.
any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
Almost the same problem,
installed 2.2 update successfully, the phone worked for like 3-4 days very well and after that today i discovered "Emergency calls only"
so the question now is did i bought phone which later was reported stolen? or somehow i broke it?
Anyone have any idea?
hmmm, I have the same problem! In the status menu, the number is shown, but the network, says "unknown"
Hi! I have this exact same problem except I was unlocking my phone using this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906255
But I didn't back up my Efs folder, now my phone is unlocked but when I put a sim card in it I have very little network and when I try to make a call I get " NO DATA NETWORK AVAILABLE".
I've tried everything but I don't know what to do!
I was thinking of two ways to fix it:
1. Reinstall froyo (not quite sure how using the samsung software as my laptop oesn't recognised the phone as a pone)
2. Downgrade to, get unlock code using market app and then upgrade to froyo again.
I know I messed up but now I really need to fix this.
Can someone PLEASE PLEASE help me out.

might need to change the modem in odin i think. just heard about it
did u try restarting the phone... just a wild guess...
I had the same issue before and was puzzled. Its actually a very simple solution:
1. Re-lock your phone, search through xda there is a code you have to enter
2. Unlock your phone
All done! Surprisingly easy
Try the Odin method in block 2 back to Eclair if ok then upgrade to Froyo .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=818556
However your non connection might be due to not flashing a firmware with your network settings in which case manual settings of APN .
If your IMEI has changed due to flashing and you did not back up your EFS folder then little hope but do a google / search of XDA as some have reported success .

Emergency calls only
I had a custom rom that was giving that to me too. I think it means that you can access a network different from your sim (because usually emerg calls can be made from any phone I think?).
I'd try and find a rom that is optimized for your carrier or at least a modem file from a stock rom that is for your carrier. You may also need to reselect the APN settings (or enter them for your carrier). Its under settings/wireless and network/Mobile networks/access point names (use the menu button to add an APN).
you could also try re downloading and flashing the rom to make sure that is the issue. Mine said it installed OK but never booted up, redownloaded and reflashed and then it was fine but the install screens looked identical.

Hi! Thank you so much for everyone's replies!
My IMEI isn't changed and someone helped me check my efs files and they are all ok. I'm going to try and reflash froyo through the samsung software to see if the network lock comes back and then try to unlock again. For this I'm going to unroot the phone and follow samsungs' instructions.
I'm afraid to relock the phone as there are reports that say it completely messes everything up!
But I'll keep you guys posted! Wish me luck!!!!
PS. Any other suggestions are more than welcome!
So, a quick update on my situation.
I uninstalled busybox and unrooted my phone using the oneclick root tool.
Did a factory format and, surprise surprise, my phone now works perfectly!
Apart from the fact that it doesn't connect to kies, but that's a whole another issue!
Tank you so much to all of you who answered my cry for help!

Just got my Tmobile SGT last week and wanted to make it different from all my friends that had one. For the moment it was the talk of the crowd when it was running Gingerbread and unlocked to the network and running a bunch of nonsense/useless apps that made people laugh for hours. Well, somehow I ended up bored and ended up flashing it back to stock tmobile. Well, now it does not connect to the carrier and the power button just restarts the whole damn thing. And also it will not go into recovery nor download mode either. Can anyone guide me in the right direction to make it work like how it did before I owned it??? Thanks.
Strange if your tab boots into gui but you cannot go into recovery or dl mode.......
Today again I started tinkering with it and got it back running correctly. I ended up rooting it with z4root then put CWM Recovery to gain back the ability to get into recovery and dl mode. Yay! And so.... I ended up flashing it again, but this time used Overcome-Gingerbread and followed the directions CAREFULLY. Everything turned out just fine and dandy except I still cant connect to the service carrier. I think this happened when I removed the sim network lock thing. Any advice pls?

did you flash the correct modem?
Yup, I used the TMobile US one.
Okay I think I might be wording this wrong...
Noticed in the status screen it shows "T-Mobile" under Network and "In Service" under Service State. Meaning I am connecting to my carrier, correct??? And also TMobile shows up on the top right corner when on the lock screen.
But when I try to browse the Internet it returns with pop up "No network connection Unable to load page. Internet not connected."
Mmmm your APN settings are correct?
Yep! Even try a few different ones also.

In light of this, I would be pointing fingers at the apn settings, that and silly but check to make sure data is turned on in the settings.
Other than that I'm out of ideas
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
i believe u must flash your old stock rom CSC or replace it via root explorer .. after u did that ... fire up the dialer .. write *#272*IMEI# then choose your country code
or if you are in euro just forget all this steps and do only the *#272*IMEI# STEP and you'll get your 3g up and work
Hi there,
I am by no means an expert on any of this, but I've come across an issue what makes my phone unusable even though I have only had it for a month or so.
After getting the phone, a friend of my flashed Slimrom (version 1) for me on my phone. I've flashed myself before, but I had no idea how to get the device rooted for me. That went well untill I got a message of "full storage" last night, even though there was about 60% empty internal memory left. After some moving around I decided to factory reset, and when that didn't work reflash the ROM.
The issue seemed resolved however for some reason my phone no longer recognizes my simcard. My simcard still works (tested it on a different phone) but it never asks for either the pin didgets. If I try to go to to mobile services it just says "error could not find any mobile networks" and even after flashing the newer rom Version 2,5 and now flashing CarbonRom I can't get it to work!
I am left clueless, if anyone could help me out it'd be great as I am really dependant from this phone!
You have a so called developer IMEI now (starting with 004999...). Please check this.
This is the reason why the sim card isn't recognized anymore.
You can change the simcard pin after each restart and it works.
Or use one of my Roms with a workaround (I have this IMEI problem too).

Thank you so much for responding! If I try to retrieve the IMEI by typing in: #*06*, all I get is a blank. I however was able to find it with a sticker inside the phone. I guess there isn't a simple command to getting this changed. I can't even find the simcard pin change in my settings, it's not in the security tab atleast.
I will do anything for a ROM right now just to be able to get my service up and running, but I'd like to fix the phone for the long run. Any idea on how this is best achieved?

Blank ist the other version of a ruined IMEI.
Search here in the forum: there are some threads regarding backup of EFS and restoring IMEI (if you made a backup before).
And one member is offering to repair the IMEI if you can proove that you have the original (the sticker). See his website http://www.cvxcvx.pl/?lang=en
Alternative: try my Pristine XXLSZ v1.9 with the workaround I use all the time without problems. After you can be sure if it is only the IMEI problem or something more difficult with your sim.
Ok a friend of mine brought me a i9305 lte to unlock as i have done several of my firends. so i did these steps
1. made a back up from QPST
2. Cf auto rooted
3. installed custom recovery
4. downgraded to 4.1.1
5. did the network unlock from service menu
i then put my sim card in but kept getting not registered on network. i tried setting service provider to auto and also selecting manually and it does the same but no longer asks for sim unlock code so i assume its now unlocked and has some other problem. i thought it may be a imei issue and checked but the imei is fully there and matches the one behind phone batter it also has the correct baseband.. i checked in the about phone menu and it says network unknown and out of service. thinking it may be a radio issue i proceeded to install a stock 4.3 that was originally on the phone from the network carrier it was originally locked to, to see if it was a radio problem but again get network unknown. so i restored the QPST backup over the stock 4.3 and it still says network unknown.
I am starting to think the phone may be blocked but not sure as i also hear its a common problem to lose imei and / or service during rooting. Am i missing something pbvious or fighting a losing battle lol..
one other thing of slight note is when i went to sammobile for the stock rom, when i was searching i searched for i9305 as thats whats on the sticker but it has a little badge on the back that says LTE which according to sammobile is the i9305N and i9350T.
thanks for taking the time to read this and the help you guys allways offer :good::good::good:
I have a Note 8 N950U that was originally on ATT. It was bootlooping and I got it to work somewhat by flashing the ATT_N950USQS4CRE1_ODIN firmware using the moded odin file. The phone will boot and all seems to work but it will not work on a cellular network. It shows the "no network connection" error and the airplane mode switch is highlighted as if its on but it is not on. I've tried resetting the network settings, reboot with airplane mode on, etc. I also have tried several different working sim cards and all do the same. The phone does recognize the sim because it sees my phone number in the settings.
I recently reflashed the device using the N950USQS5CRG9 firmware, and still have the same issue. the device boots and all seems to work except the cellular network. I also tried different APN settings as well.
I seem to be having trouble with other firmwares because odin will just error out on me. These are the only 2 firmwares that I was able to get to flash. So is this a firmware issue or a hardware issue? I would really like to get this device to work if at all possible. So, any and all help is greatly appreciated.
TIA to all!!!

What version of the bootloader are you currently on now? And did you flash a CSC file from AT&T and then do a factory reset in recovery mode?

I am currently on N950USQS5CRG9 bootloader. And yes, i flashed this CSC file, CSC_OYN_N950UOYN5CRG9_CL13949550_QB19107689_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT, which I believe is an ATT file. I did not do a factory reset in recovery mode after the firmware flashing. The device was factory restored prior to flashing though. THanks for the help, I've been messing with this for a week now...Thanks again.

Try going from CRG9 to N950USQU5CRIA because that could fix the problems.. Download the update.zip from the website put it on your SD card and then boot into recovery mode and select flash update from SD card and let it do its thing after you select the update file.. You have CRG9 still and you'll be able to flash back to it too if you have to for some reason.. The website is here put your model of phone in from the dropdown menu(Note 8) and then the next dropdown menu select your CRG9 firmware and it will give you some updates but take the latest version that's N950USQU5CRIA not the old ones after it flashes try a factory reset again!! OK, went through and did exactly what you said do...the update went through and finished, the phone rebooted, and then I restarted phone and did factory reset, and I went thru the setup and the update did take, but still same issue. Tried 2 different sim cards that work in other devices and still no network connection and airplane mode is still highlighted as if its on. No signal bars just a 0 with a / slash through it.
Any other ideas? Really do appreciate the help. TIA!!

Try this.. From the home screen, tap the settings icon, scroll down until you see General and select it, scroll down until you see the reset option. Select reset. You will be taken to the reset screen. Select Reset Network Settings, if your phone is password protected, enter your code. You will be taken to a new screen confirming your selection.
And the last idea I have is that you have a hardware issue if the above didn't work and there's something broken internally and you need to go to AT&T immediately and have them either replace that phone or call Samsung because there is a 1 year warranty on the phone for free from Samsung and they'll fix it and return it so long as it's not from something you caused, like water or dropping it and breaking it.. Also, where did you get that phone from? Is the IMEI clear?

That's one of the 1st thing i've tried before anything else. It says it resets successfully, but does not fix issue.
Unfortunately, I got this second hand...It worked great until it started boot looping, so returning it, isn't an option. I guess the baseband chip
got messed up some how. Anyways, thanks a million for the help...it was much appreciated.
