Rename it to update.zip and flash it through stock recovery.

I have 9.4mb and 16mb stock recovery.
There are many 9.4mb links in xda and 16mb was from Sprint forum.
Mine is 1.29.980.17 and it seems like 9.4mb doesnt work on mine..
Anyone know recovery differences? And also how to extract recovery from RUU or nandroid backup?
Thanks

Sprint recovery isn't for your phone. Find the 1.29.980.17 recovery

Don't know if u still need this but to extract recovery from RUU you need to check hidden files in folder options.
Then you need to open ruu, leave it running like this.
You can then go to temp folder "C:\Users\Errol\AppData\Local\Temp" and you'll see a folder similar to one like this {6EA884E0-4A88-48EF-A485-666625A12F24} Open and scroll down till you find rom zip, Copy and paste to c:/ drive. Now you can close ruu. Open rom zip and you have all your files. With my evo 3d I could rename rom zip to PG86IMG, download to sdcard on phone boot into bootloader and would flash my phone back to stock. HTC One may be similar too!

It's a great plan but it won't work ...the rom.zip you extract is encrypted and you won't be able to open it. you can however download a decrypted ruu.zip and extract the files you need from it.

I see, roms were not decrypted for evo3d, changes, changes, and more changes!
Hi guys, can anyone help me on how to extract the update.zip that the OTA updater in the phone downloads, for later use? Thanks.
The file is stored in Downloads folder once it gets downloaded.. just copy it off.

Okay, does anyone have the OTA for 1.29.707.4 ---> 2.24.707.3?
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here, maybe somebody can tell me if I'm missing a step??
I am trying to install the noticounter widget and can't get it to take for some reason. I have flashed the zip file in TWRP a couple times now (it claimed it was successful, but it doesn't seem to have installed anything.)
Is there some other way of installing this that I am unaware of??

Just install it like any other app, no need to use TWRP.
Either install via ADB: adb install /path/to/app.apk
Or via Wondershare.
Alternate, download APK to your phone, use native BT file transfer and then install file.

I´we never posted any zips, here´s the correct download:
http://lundsoftwares.se/NotiCounter/NotiCounterWidget_v1.0.apk
If it looks like a zip is probably because your unpacking program makes it look like a zip.

I find sometimes when downloading apk file it downloads as a zip. Just rename from .zip to .apk
Then transfer to watch and run it on the watch

Yea, that's what must have happened.
Renaming it as a zip file worked fine however, thanks for the info.
Hi,
Tried creating an 'image.zip' with CWM 6. There is a successful confirmation message that the file was written to /sdcard/clockworkmod/image.zip. But I can't find the file and there is no change in the available space after supposedly having written the file. I think the file was not saved.
I'm using trickdroid 7.5.0 / android 4.2.2.
Any ideas what's wrong?
Thanks

Use TWRP CWM has been buggy for a few years now.

I have the same issue. I am on 4.4.4 and I installed CWM only to create this zip file. I only see it within CWM but can't find it in Explorer in the same folder. I generally use TWRP.

CWM stores backups in /data/media/clockworkmod (old 4.1.2 filesystem), now sdcard goes to /data/media/0/....
you'll need to use a root-enabled file explorer to get to /data/media/

Extract the .ext4 extension from the tar files and then mount it in ext2explore

So I will take the data.ext4.tar.a, data.ext4.tar.b and I will extract them with 7zip and the files I will get I will paste them at the ext2explore?
Just open up the .tar.a (Or whichever) with 7 zip
You can extract the files directly from that
Try it.
