"Yep" - tried the latest, CWM version but no luck, might give a chance to try it also with TWRP and see if it goes...
the SU icon does show but the binaries are not installed and device is NOT rooted

2) Unlock the boot loader
3) Install a CWM recovery
4) Install SuperSU update 1.89
and all works as expected - issue solved.

Hi,
I have unlocked, S-off and rooted my previous HTC devices before, but this time I am only interested in rooting. Is it possible to root the 802.w without unlocking the boot loader? Just installing CMW Recovery and SuperSU?
This is the current status of my 802w European Version (Nordic):

Thanks. Well, AFAIK unlocking is required before rooting, however my knowledge of the 802w is limited - I have not yet got the phone and am trying to do my research before it arrives!
Please, somebody post the link to correct CWM or TWRP again.
Thanks!

Hi all, I'm still figuring one the HTC One (M7) that I got, and I'm pretty new to this so I apologize if my questions are basic, and I would really appreciate your help! I looked through a ton of material on this forum and other websites, and been exploring my phone but I haven't gone to unlock the bootloader or flash anything yet, since I am worried about the repercussions of doing something wrong and bricking my phone.
Long story short, I bought my phone off Amazon, its an AT&T unlocked version, and I recently found that this meant I cannot make use of the hotspot tethering function. If it matters, I am primarily going to use my phone in Singapore.
Here's my phone info:

My first question is:
My software version is stated as 3.17.502.3
However on the HTC website for HTC One ATT version it says the latest software version is 5.12.502.2
But when I run the AT&T Update on my phone, it says that no updates are available.
Why is this so...
The second question is related to the first:
Since I am going to use the phone primarily in Singapore, should I just flash it to a non-ATT ROM, which would presumably remove the 'lock' on tethering? If I choose to do this, do I need to change the CID (using SuperCID or other means) to enable me to flash to another ROM? I just need the vanilla HTC Sense without all the useless ATT add-ons.
Thanks for your help!
Ok custom Rom will cover your every need
ARHD MaximusHD are custom Rom based on stock Rom & not modified much & don't have crap carrier add on
So you have to unlock boot loader install custom recovery
Install custom Rom
I saw your hboot still on 1.55 so get S Off using firewater it will so much beneficial
& you're not happy with custom Rom then you can convert it to any other country Rom
Unlocking boot loader
Install custom recovery
Install root
S Off
Change CID according to your needs
Change MID according to your needs
Flash stock ruu exe or ruu zip according to your needs
That's it

i actually spent the whole night up last night figuring it out and reading all the info here and other sites.
In the end I managed to
unlock bootloader
install custom recovery TWRP
install root SuperUser
flash to Android 4.4 KitKat Sense 5.5 (stock from HTC)
it seems to be working okay and i did not need to S-off or change CID/MID (which i feared would result in bricking, since those seemed much more advance)
I took a small gamble since my Hboot was 1.55 and i didn't know how would differ from other versions which the guides used, but so far it seems like things are alright.
was a fairly steep learning curve since this is literally my first smartphone and I had no idea about 85% of the jargon.. but after a while I managed to figure most of it out haha.
but really appreciate your help too! thanks!
Cid mid change not brick your phone
Modified firmware cause brick
Must do S Off
If you stay on your stock Rom WiFi hotspot will available ?

Hi guys, after trying to install custom rom, I bricked my phone. In Recovery mode (TWRP), it's written that no OS installed and the Internal Storage is 1795 Mb. I think that I need to fix the partition first before install a rom. Can someone help me please? Thanks for reading my post.

from twrp recovery, wipe everything then format data. push a rom and flash it. make sure you are using twrp 2.6.3.3 for 4.4+ sense based roms or 2.7.1.1 for cyanogenmod rom

This recovery doesn't work, only the recovery for HTC ONE M7 UL works. But NOW, i can't access to this. I think that my phone is not really a Sprint One but just someone changed my MID. As I told to you, on the back of the phone, it's written, Model: PN07100.
And you tell to me look rom in Sprint threads, but normally Viper One is for all variant of the HTC One and it doesn't work.... Same case with the Android Revolution...

You are right, the twrp for htc one wls works fine. Now my internal storage is about 26000 Mb BUT after:
- wipe everything and format data

Checking for MD5 file
Skipping MD5 check: no MD file found

Your phone is S-OFF you can simply flash the latest Sprint RUU.zip. Look in the general section there are a few sticky threads there. In one of them you'll find a nice RUU collection. At post #2 of that threads you'll find the latest sprint RUU posted by me. Instruction to flash are at post #1. Don't forget to use htc_fastboot.exe instead of the regular fastboot.exe or the RUU won't flash. You don't need to relock the bootloader to flash the RUU since your phone is S-OFF.

Hi guys,
I have gone through the the forum and have read up on the issure, I have made some progress, I need some expert advice on the last few stages.
The Htc one M7 is soft bricked, i have unlocked the bootloder via the htc site, i know how to use ADB and fastboot command line. I have installed TWRP on the phone, now i can see my phone as a drive on my computer. the phone is still S-ON
What i want to achieve:
Put a stock firmware on the phone and thats that.
Not too keen on putting customs firmwares, if there is a Google Edition firmware, that will be a plus if not then the firmware with sense 5 or 6 etc.
The CID is 332 ( could this be an issue)
I just need the phone to work as normal with stock or google play edition stock.
Do i need to get s-on to S-off? whats the easiest way. what firmware would work for this cid-332, do i need to change my CID to get best firmware, these are the stages i need advice.
Thanks a lot guys.

you seem to have a carrier that has never released a RUU or any useful files really. Did you make a Nandroid backup of you stock software ?
If you have no backup the best you can do is just flash an international Rom that matches you firmware version like this one

you'll be able to flash it but you will never get ota uptades using this version because of your cid and mismatch between software version and firmware version.
Its not possible to return it to stock .599 so you should either s-off it and do a conversion to another version or use custom roms.

I decided to go the easy route, and just droped in the cyanogen mod rom and flashed.
Maybe i will do the S-off at a later date.

hi i have a problem when usin my phone it suddenly freezers and was not able to get acces to anything (Was rooted/Bootloader Unlocked/having Custom Rom/TRWP/S-ON).. tried to restore my rom by usin twrp 2.8. but there was no file and it cannot mount my storage...
Then, found on a thread to restore stock ROM via RUU, so i relocked my bootloader and then find myself stuck at everything
When I plug in AC adapter for charging, phone load in bootloader, and whenever i press "Fastboot/Factory Reset" my phone freezes
Even fastboot and ADB command freezes my phone,
I need help please.

There is no stock version of 6.0. The latest official version is 5.0.2 (with Sense) or 5.1 (GPE). There are custom roms for 6.0 and 7.1. How youll be able to flash the latest official version is something well be able to answer after seing your output of "fastboot getvar all".
