Hi folks!
Just 'upgraded' from [ROM] [4.2.2 CM10.1] <KANG>SCHIZOID 2.11 to [ROM] [4.4.2] [CyanogenMod 11 by Jcsullins] [DM] [04/09/14].
So far it feels nice and snappy but there is one thing which bothers me. Previously I only had one bar at the bottom of the screen for everything but now I've got 2 separate (and somewhat empty) ones:
one on top for notifications, battery and clock status and another on the bottom for the soft-keys (home, back, apps).
I should also add that this is not a problem on the homescreen. It's much more annoying in apps.
I'd like to merge those two and thereby reclaim some space. Is there a way of doing this short of going back to a paranoid android rom?

I have the same ROM and just have the back/home/apps buttons at the bottom which integrate with the background and the batter status/time in the top right which do the same. If I scroll down from the top, I get the status bar with options menu but don't think I have what you're describing.
Have you checked through all the settings?
It may be possible using GO Launcher EX. I haven't tried it though.

Seems to me you also have 2 bars (one at the top and one at the bottom) - or did you find a way to put notifications, clock and battery on the same bar that is used for those keys?
Anyway I think I didn't make my description clearly enough so I've updated the post.

I did try several launchers (although not that particular one). Afaik the previous rom didn't anything fancy either (trebuchet?).
Edit: Go launcher has the same issue. So this is probably not a launcher specific complaint.
Any updates on this?
Per my understanding this is a rom limitation. Am I wrong? Can someone direct us to a solution?
google removed the unified bar in 4.4 i believe
Well that sucks.
Yes it does
Too bad it doesn't work anymore.
Anyway thank you for confirming that!

Hey,
I don't really need a lot of the features in 4.2 that much, but I'd like the quick setting thing. Can someone port that to 4.1.2?
Or even easier, can someone explain how I can build JUST the SystemUI apk from the android repo, and not the whole thing, so I can try to do that myself?
Thanks
There are so many good toggles apps out there (that is if you're not using a custom rom that already has it built in).
why would you like an extra page with settings that arent even quick ...they are just shortcuts ...
sure i tested knzo's and thedarkdude's 4.2 port and the page turn effect is eye catchy... but i see no meaning to it per all.
Ps: iamthedarkone is his name . A am aware of that .

I like the look of the quick "settings" thing on 4.2. Also, if I knew how to build just the SystemUI, maybe I'd be able to make them actual quick setting, instead of what they are now. I do have notification toggles through an app, but I'm not really fond of having a used notification spot just for that. that's why I'd rather have the 4.2 thing.
I use it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=apocalipsisx.controlpanel

thanks, but that still requires a notification spot, and it feels as bit sluggish. I currently use Power Toggles.

Good mornung sir. If you are feeling limber and wanting to program. There is a stock guide to porting 4,2 quick settings panel by bootmgr and spacecaker its pretty easy. I am currently porting it over along with lidroid toggles. The only thing is you gotta add your own toggles
Since that I can't post on the develop thread I'll ask in here.
I'm just got done with the install of Ace-i-Sure, and now that I'm done, I've got this annoying little red/blue bar at the top of the screen (as seen on the attachment), and if the icons get on it they will "stack" on top of eachother.
Anyone know what this is and have a solution?
Thanks, S28.
Can you provide the link to this rom ? I can try to look over for you ..

Hy!
I have the same "problem". RAM Booster shows that icon.
Has this rom got status bar tweaks in settings? If so you remove it from there

ram booster open setting - overlay widget settings - uncheck show overlay widget
if you want to move the icon to another position: ram booster open setting - overlay widget settings - select the size, position, transparency, move the slider to the desired
Hello guys, I'm having a little problem with Cyanogenmod. Even though it's not an important one, it just bothers me.
I can't access thes quick setting panel from the notifications, because it disappears. Sometimes it just goes a little to the right. It's much clearer in the screenshots. Any tips? I've already wiped, an installed again 3 times. It doesn't happen with AOKP or any other rom, just cm. Help plz! Thank you
Seems it is shifted out of screen by "a. m." letters, switch to 24h clock to see if it's really the reason. You can also toggle between notification and panels by swiping left/right on the grey bar under your carrier name (the bar that turns blue when you drag and open notification area).

Hey you're right, it was that. I changed it to 24h clock and it works fine. But, isn't that a bug?

You can hit Thanks then
It's a very minor bug in XML file, you can write about this in ROM's thread so it's developer is aware of it.
Or decompile framework and try to fix it yourself, good start if you want to learn Android modding.

That sounds quite a challenge! Well, I'll post it in the ROM's thread. Thank you!
Hey all,
So, I'm running Bad Boyz ROM v1.3, Android 4.3. The task/notification/status bar (I never remember the correct nomenclature) is generally transparent or black on home screens, and generally black when in other apps. However, during certain instances, like when going into settings, the bar changes to this grey gradation/textured look. This same look also pops up briefly whenever the home key is pressed, even when the phone is already on a home screen. I know that its really minor and inconsequential, but man does it ever bug the CRAP out of me. Anybody know what I can do to fix this, or can point me to a how to or available MOD? I'd appreciate it.
This is gonna end up sound like a stupid easy fix, but I have searched everywhere and cannot find a way to change the look of the icons.
For one, the button on the left change from "Recents" to some stupid "Flip between two apps you used" that is getting really frustrating.
And two, the icons of the buttons themselves changed somehow. How does one change it back to the regular ones? I am using Resurrection Remix rom and Nova Launcher
Screenshot
Have you changed themes? I'm running the minimal theme and have the same softkeys. Themes will change them. As far as them being switched, I haven't ran Resurrection yet, but there should be something in the settings to flip-flop and edit them I'm sure. Have you changed anything in there?

I guess it's happening for the specific theme you're using as I can see you navigation bar, you seemed to be using a theme, right? If so then it's a normal thing. To switch between styles of navbars of your choice use SoftKeyZ
Thank you for the reply guys. I am indeed using a theme but these styles showed up randomly, days after I installed the theme. I even went as far as installing a completely new theme and they remain. I tried the SoftKeyz app and even that app can't seem to change them. I wouldn't even mind these so much if the left key was the recents and not a switch between last two apps used.
