Active on Family Talk? - Galaxy S 4 Active Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to help a friend get an Active and use it on her Family Talk Mobile account. I have easily done this before with an older AT&T phone just by entering a simple unlock code I got. Any help would be much appreciated thanks!

Call T-Mobile. Make sure you meet the requirements first, or talk your way into them giving it to you.

Hi evilkorn
thanks for replying how do i do that and they are gona charge me some ££ right?
but i want to do it myself and free just like windows mobile there is an unlock tool for it and iphone there is a programe for that iswell to unlock and jailbreak it something like this?
i wish i never bought G1 Grrrrrrrrr there is no cool apps like iphone for it or cant be unlocked easily wish i bought an iphone.
No, T-Mobile shouldn't charge you for the unlock unless you meet the requirements and you can't expect all phones to have an unlock tool. Also, if you were just in it for the app then you should've just searched for good apps before buying the phone.
After 90 days in contract, they will give you the unlock code for any phone.
How to et free code unlock?I log in thi site but price is 20$.

Read my response, you have to call t-mobile after 90 days on contract for them to give it to you for free.
There are no tools, pay an unlocking service or call them to get it free. That is it.

Unless I misunderstand your question, you can use either version of the S4 Active with AT&T prepaid "out of the box". You don't need to unlock anything.

a friend of mine just bought a new s4 active. she was/is on a business plan on her family account. they are no longer going to use att for service. so she is stuck with this phone. she wants to do a prepaid plan with att. is it possible to make a regular service phone a prepaid phone. if so how and someone please point me in the proper direction.
You are going to have to have ATT unlock it

Umm, why? I'm not arguing; I'm just curious, since my experience was different.
I have an "extra" i537 that I got from AT&T when we signed up (signed up 4 lines on contract and got all new Actives when I did, but am using one of my SIMS in a different phone). It was brand new out of the box and, I assume, SIM locked to AT&T. When a friend was visiting from Europe I let him use the i537 while he was here. He walked into AT&T with it, bought a pre-paid SIM of some sort, stuck it in the phone, and started using it just like that. Never had to unlock anything, or at least never told me that he did...
she tried going directly to att and they failed. so i will give it a try when i get my hands on it. thanks for the help people. any additional horror stories or advise would still be greatly appreciated.
thanks again
I just did exactly this for a customer. Just insert the go SIM. No unlock required for gophone

prepaid active
I have a at&t locked active I traded a guy my note 2 for. No unlocking needed for me to use my net10 sim card in it. You shouldn't have to unlock anything to use it on prepaid.

Only ATT based MVNOs or gophone. Tmo based MVNOs will not work

Yes exactly but I thought that was common knowledge of the use of prepaid sim services. Sorry for not specifying.
thanks for all of the help. after att would not give me the code for the phone i went online and found sim-unlock.com and paid for the code. i inserted the straight talk sim card ( its what she ended up going with.) and it didnt ask for a code. but only had 2/3g connection and was only able to make calls and text. so i inserted my verizon card and voila it asked for the code. entered the code and restarted with the new card and i now have 4g and data. thanbs for all of the help

[Q] [Help] flashing a non-activated Droid 3 to Verizon prepaid?

*The phone is a Verizon model* forgot to add that.
Does anyone have any experience flashing a Motorola Droid 3 to Verizon's prepaid service? The phone was recently given to me by my sister's fiance and I fear if I activate the refurbished phone it will become the default phone on his plan and cancel out the phone he is currently using. Can anyone provide any tips or solutions before I sabotage his current phone plan?
Thank you very much, I can be contacted on skype @ Hydrochetta. I will respond immediately versus waiting an hour or two for a response. If skype is used for assistance I will post the conversation on this thread to further help anyone else who has come across this situation.
Also, I have tried Googling a solution to this but haven't found anything particular to my situation so please don't flame me for the fact I feel it is better to be safe than sorry and simply ask.

If the phone is not already activated on his account, it's a clean phone and can be activated without affecting his account what-so-ever. The ONLY way activating the phone could mess with his plan would be if you called Verizon and had HIS number changed to the MEID of the D3, which would require knowing certain pins and information about the account. As long as the MEID/ESN is not already active and has not been reported stolen (i.e. it's a clean esn, being a refurb it should be). Then there should be ABSOLUTELY no issue activating it on Verizon Prepaid or any MVNO such as Page Plus, Straight Talk, etc.You can use an MEID/ESN checker to see if it's clean for activation, Like the one here at Swappa.com

AIO/Cricket G with no tether/hotspot moving to T-Mobile

Hey everyone, first post here. I have a quick question please.
I bought my Moto G new from AIO and recently decided to switch to T-Mobile. I got my unlock code from Cricket and will be switching this week.
I will be giving this phone to my father and I was hoping he would be able to use it to tether for light internet use. My AIO/Cricket phone doesn't have the tether/hotspot feature, I think they disabled it. Will this feature be enabled after I unlock the phone?
If it isn't is there a app that I can use? I am hoping I wont have to root as I have absolutely no clue about any of that. I am not sure if it's against T&C's but I would also gladly pay someone via PayPal or something if they could Skype me through the process.
If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome and thanks for your help.

Moto E4 vzw PP XT1767 guide for Google email lock and Verizon service lock

Anyone need info or support on this phone?? I am thinking I'm making this post right.. I have a moto e4, the Verizon subsidised out of the box one. Personally I've been fighting the last few days to get past the Google email lock, then Verizon would not give me carrier unlock codes but a few days and I now have us mobile sim card in the phone with perfectly working voice text data hotspot tether etc. I couldn't find any info on how to do this but if anyone is in the position I was then I'll write a detailed guide on how I managed everything and all. Let me know if you need help and I'll see exactly how to write a proper XDA tutorial on it. Also so everyone knows I have the box receipt and plenty more to prove ownership of my phone and more to show I am eligible for carrier unlock. This is not for hacking but legitimate way to help..
Verizon unlocking info would be welcome, especially if it worked for the E4 Plus, which is what this forum is for.
