If there is already a thread that pretty much says the same thing why not just add to it rather then making your own.
The new one is just going to get locked and give MODS more work.

I'm gonna slightly disagree with this... Respectfully of course (old wink) and say that I wouldn't bother going to the about thread because as somebody above mentioned, this is not a democracy, those in charge have settled on new smileys and therefore new smileys it is....
I don't particularly like them either and will continue to take the piss until it gets old but hey, ya know what? If a set of forum smileys are something that causes you to get even slightly worked up then take solace in the fact that you must not really have anything serious to worry about.

I'm personally not too fussed by the new faces, but I did prefer the old ones. The new ones are all , leaving me a little :cyclops:.

Who is interested in me developing for the amazing Xperia Z

Hello everyone,
I'm a developer of custom stock roms, kernels, sometimes themes and mods
I'm sure Xperia 2011 and 2012 users probably know me already my question is:
- Who is interested in my development for Xperia Z and ZL? And I'll probably support more of the 2013 devices later
- The problem is:
I'm just a student so I really want to be 100% sure people really want me here, because I have an XS now and it's very expensive to update to the Xperia Z To be honest I'm not yet sure if I'll be able to buy it yet.
Just to be clear:
I'm not asking for money! I'm saving at the moment so I just hope I'll be able to buy it. I just want to be sure I won't spent such an amount of money for only a little bit support in the forums.

€629 is really expensive for a student

I love devs.... but lets not ask for pity... OP I believe we get the point you cant afford it... you dont have to post it in every xperia z thread .... if your looking for donations id ask or look for pity for them in the current development threads you are apart of

You dont need to be so rude, you, yourself may one day realize, how difficult it is to be in university, paying your uni fee's and also staying a prominent person within the developer community. I suggest you recheck your morals and self identity.

Being a community this is why we are here! To help the devs.. and to support and motivate them.
If we love being on xda and trying and supporting devs, we should help them get it too.. why not

;P I have a bachelors degree in psychology from a university... which I worked full time while doing by the way and guess what.... working on my masters in clinical psyc right now grew up poor and worked for every thing that I own... right now I am a child abuse investigator in the state of Missouri... trust me I have morals... and by the way I have had many phones with alot of great devs... If the community wants him he will be here.... making 300 post crying isnt going to help by any means.... the people do bring devs to phones but devs should never imply to people for financial help

Pretty useless thread ! Sorry but i dont want to be rude. Its always good to have more and more developers for a device .So asking the question "Who is interested in me developing for the device?" is pretty much useless because people will always say yes , they will never say no to a developer . And if you can't afford the device , you can still build for it if you are so much interested in it , you will get a lot of testers for it . But i will be looking for real custom ROMs not just customisation of the stock ROM.

Would be good if they can release it within 2months (soon after CES)...
But I have a feeling it wont be released here for another 5-6 months .. which by that time GS4 will probably be released with the next big thing !!
If they release this by feb, I'm sold !!

I just wanted to share that next official release might be 4.3 and not 5.0! Nothing else.

Yes the article is written in german. And I can't see anything wrong with it because I just wanted to share the information contained NOT give a translation. I even saw chinese and korean links on xda. So no problem I thought. Obviously I was wrong.
Until yesterday I thought after Google I/O Android 5 will be released. Regarding the link I posted that seems to be wrong. There will be a smaller step first: jelly bean 4.3.
So for all those dumb asses who either bashed or the other ones who thanked them: you won't get all news if you are so ignorant to only read what's going on inside the U.S.
It feels like having a discussion with some twelve years old kids... For me it's a lesson learned...

On a serious note, how long can we really count on Google to keep these devices officially supported and updated? I assume as long as the hardware can support the new OS....
Look at the Nexus S, only lasted 1 year, granted it only had a single core 1ghz processor and 512mb ram.

Google will be supporting this device for a while. It's one of the most popular if not the most popular device in the Nexus line. We will see updates for a long time I don't understand why people always want to know when. Be happy with the os version your on, and if you don't like it root, unlock and flash what you want. There are awesome devs here that will always improve this device allowing people to be able to run it how they want.

Google took the nexus s from GingerBread to JellyBean. Even with its hardware limitations, Google took it as far as it could. I'm not worried about updates for my N7 hehe..

Don't be looking for a release date. You won't get one. These devs do this as a hobby not a job. Only devs I think are getting paid are the ones behind CM. BUT I could be mistaken....and even then..they still don't give release dates or ETA'S

He's copy pasting stuff from the net and sometimes just copying the opening post in threads and re posting it. Even in different threads.
He actually posted a how to in a new thread in the n5 section that was for Samsung devices. Lol. Could have possible harmed the n5 too perhaps....I reported his post and it was quickly gone.
I'm going to be following his posts....something strange....I don't think he's just trying to get his 10 posts, as he's well past that. Also, he was down to 20 posts,... Means 7 of them have been deleted already.
My concern is he will post something he shouldn't, as he already did, and brick some poor persons phone who follows his post.

Well luckily this isn't a Samsung, Motorola or HTC. For the most part you can't brick this phone. I'd imagine the only way would be to flash radios or bootloader not for this phone. It's a nexus, after all. The hardest phone there is to brick.

Nexus is surely not the Hardest to brick.. the HTC One X is! You can throw anything at it and it wouldn't mess up at all!
Since it had S-ON, you couldn't flash a thing which wasn't meant for the One X. I have actually tried to brick mine after I got my Nexus 5.. But nope! It just won't brick. The only sad part was we couldn't flash a .img file even if it's zipped. Fastboot was the only option! It was a minor hiccup though :silly:
However, Nexus 5 can be easily bricked my flashing a different bootloader or a corrupt one... Some people have also reported permanently bricking their N5s by flashing custom roms/kernels of different devices (Not 100% sure about this though)..
That being said, people who can't even differentiate between roms/files of different devices are just plain stupid and shouldn't even try to do any modding.. I mean, how can you go to a Samsung Forum and download a rom and then think it was for the Nexus 5 and flash it?
