It downloaded. .says touch to install. But I'm afraid of losing root and everything else I have done. Exposed work and all.
Any way to get rid of it or what should I do?
I have lots of important things on my phone that i don't want to lose if i update.

Back it up... if your Rooted Figure out what data u don't want to lose back it up to your PC....
as far as updating to a newer version You will more then likely lose data. and if you update threw your phones software you will lose root. Do a search for updating manually. download the newest version of kitkat

Just flash dfuses rooted kit kat rom???

Borrow a friend's pc or go to a library and use Samsung Kies, but you will lose root.
This is most likely because you deleted some the system apps that came with the stock rom..... This is why I never delete them only freeze with titanium backup! This happen to me on Ml9 so I had to restore stock rom reroot put super su in survival mode and then take the update!

Kies is just going to tell you that your firmware is up to date. Either factory reset or you may have to use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715 < This is how I had to do it.
So if I am rooted and deleted the AT&T bloat apps, I can't install the KitKit update? What I unroot completely? I know that won't bring back the garbage AT&T apps back, but would I be able to OTA to kitkat then?

You will not be able to ota unless you do a full restore. You also must have att sim card. At&t is just dirty like that.

Wow. Anyway, I was rooted, but had Wanam installed and successfully updated to Nb4. I had the fake system status set to official. I was alwasy under the impression if it said Official you could update.
And great, because now we all have to follow a really complicated guide to restore back to MJ5 if we want kitkat.
I was rooted on mj5 no wanam or anything and my phone update to nb4
It didn't even ask.
What you probably did was delete the att update software so now it's not even looking.

I don't think being rooted affects your updating. I have read many people accidentally updating and loosing their root. If you couldn't update with root, people wouldn't freeze at&t update.
ive tried unrooting factory reset andthe only thing i can think of is that ive deleted something . i guess the lesson learned is juat freeze apps instead of deleting them

How to fix return to official stock 4.3 att

Problems
what ive done to phone since ive had it.
Ive Kingo rooted
I deleted att bloatware
backed up first to TB
Have TB for 2 years so im not new to it.
I made back up on TB
did a factory data reset
tried to do the OTA update for the first 38mb file that gets you ready for 4.4
it never makes it past 25% install then fails
on a sidenote my phone says my phone stop a preventive download for safety reasons it shows a shield on notification tray hope that sounds familiar
Went to kingo to re root to install TB again to restore files all lost blank saves
So my phone works but its not updatable and I can reinstall all my apps i just cant update
Im on MJ5 ATT 4.3

Is it a modded rom like original. Theres over 300+ pages to go over if I new what key word to search that thread to find faster would be great.
Im partically looking for stock firmware 4.3 mj5 if its out there. Maybe Odin it then i could hopefully update then.T
Thanks
Well... That is where the problem is. We have a "revert to MJ5" thread, but it is modified stock to allow root. The OTA will fail with that. There are multiple fixes available for many circumstances... There really is now key word to use... Just read over the pages that start at around noon yesterday. That will greatly reduce what you are digging through.

If you installed the leaked kk and reverted back to 4.3 like many of us. You succeeded corrupting system files. Revert back to mj5. Without touching anything check for an update. Go the the original thread and look to a tutorial that asrael can't remember what the second part of his user name was. But replace all the Knox apps and a system file he talks about on his post. Then you should be able to get kk installed. It worked for me.

No its a factory update to 4.3 no Mods on rom just rooted
Unrooting seems to leave some junk behind that prevents the update.
Search for megalomaniac's threads. He has one with a Safestrap backup of a stock MJ5. Install Safestrap (you'll have to be rooted), install the MJ5 backup to the stock slot (it's 5 files - download them and put them into a folder on your SD card named MJ5 or something that makes sense to you). When you reboot, you'll be booting to a new installation of MJ5. Set it up, google account, at least, and you'll almost immediately get the NB4 update. (If Safestrap is still installed, clear data and cache and uninstall it - I can't recall if it is.) After that it should accept the 4.4.2 update.
If not, you can bring it to a Best Buy Samsung kiosk. The phone will look just like a normal untouched NB4 phone. They can flash NB4 to it, and theirs will accept the 4.4.2 update. They know there have been problems (even with totally stock phones), so there shouldn't be any problem - as long as you play dumb. "Why can't I get Kit Kat on my phone?"
I'll try best buy till easy solutions come available. My biggest concern is gps sucking and it's not worth to have a molded rom
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Most if not all custom ROMs have the GPS fixed.

[Q] Uninstalling stock Sprint apps?

I've used Titanium to uninstall a ton of the Sprint crap. But as soon as I reboot it redownloads everything.... How do we get around this?

Educated guess because it happens to me too, I would uncheck restore apps in the backup settings. Believe that the system thinks that the apps need to be reinstalled because they were backed up prior to you removing them.
If you still have SprintID installed you can go in there and delete the Sprint pack it removes most of the Sprint bloat

I did the same thing first night I got the phone. I would uninstall tons of crap apps and they all come back. The stock rom is secured and has system write protection enabled. The easiest way around this is to first s-off which you should anyway if your going to root. Next flash a custom rom or if you wanna stick with stock (I actually am staying stock for now to give the custom roms time to mature) then flash Captain Throw backs version over at themikmik. It's comes rooted out of the box and if you s-off you won't have any issues getting rid of bloat apps. Mine is squeaky clean. I couldn't believe how much crap they loaded it with. No issues with them coming back. If you stay s-on you need to flash a kernel patch which I did before s-off was available but I wouldn't recommend doing that.

I am s-off and rooted. I used titanium to remove everything that's coming back. Captain has a ROM out?

Did you apply the latest firmware before flashing? Here is the version I am using

I did. Took the phone out of the box. Did every update available. Rooted. Then realized I couldn't uninstall the stuff. Then flashed Captains. Then tried again. And no I'm here lol

As the title says I can't get rid of the super user icon on the official kitkat. Does anyone know a fix for this? I have super user but no root.

You could try going to best buy and have them flash it... Other than that as of now no. There isn't a way

You can only disable the app by going to System-App- and click disable. To 'get rid' of the app will require root but unfortunately there is no such thing as of now

I'm experiencing the same issue, and no - since the phone thinks it's a system app, it will not let you completely uninstall it. It will however give you the option to uninstall any updates.

Has this been done? I mean re-flash a stock NC2 over NC2 with the upgraded bootloader? If so, this will definitely get rid of that pesky SU app! Also, if it can be done, what do I say to the Samsung tech nerds about why i want it flashed?
Just asking.
Sounds like you're stuck with even more useless bloat then most.
Go to your nearest Samsung kiosk at your best buy and they will redo the update and that will get rid of the superuser files and all files associated with root. I just went and I'm root anything free. How I know is I used isis and didn't get the your phone is rooted message. Good Luck. O PS you won't loose anything meaning their update don't wipe your phone back to factory. But just in case do a BACKUP.

Going bestbuy in your current state won't work. They are only able to do a update or emergency recovery to NC2, so you will still be stuck with non-working SuperSU still under /system/app even after reflashing. Unfortunately they don't have full factory reset image for 4.4.2 NC2 yet as of 5/17/2014.
What I did to remove that is to flash leaked Kitkat MLG with NC2 bootloader (look for the thread posted by Carl) using Odin, and this will wipe everything out. Then go to Bestbuy Samsung and update to NC2. This is the only way to remove SuperSU or any junk left behind.
As a precaution I did factory reset after I got mine updated to NC2 and after installing some stuff my PlayStore dissappeared so I had to do a factory reset another time. Now I think everything is pure stock.
And you don't have to make up any excuses about why you want it reflashed. Just tell them you had it rooted and now because att MFs locked down everything so bad you couldn't even get rid of it without flashing with leaked Kitkat. Samsung guys are there to help you.
I'm never going to buy another At&t crap again.

I'm going to have to disagree with you since I was in the same boat as the OP. I went to Best Buy Samsung and they did the update from Samsung site and it wiped out all traces of root files and supersu. They first had to download the update from Samsung site and then they connected my note 3 on nc2 with superus still there. Once they finished I checked my disabled apps and superus was no longer listed. I did a complete factory restore to verify it worked and superus was nowhere to be found. Not sure what is different from AT&T update and Samsung but Samsung version completely wipes out root.

[Q] Redtoring the galaxy s5?

If i goto in recovery and restore my phone to defaults will i still be rooted? will all the bloat ware that i froze and remove stay how they are or will i have to do all that again? I really want to have a fresh start on my phone with root because i dont really use it for anything else so it would be nice to have a clean slate with only the things i need.
So to shorten up the question, is there a way to restore my phone to default and still be able to have or get root again?
I do have capabilites to back up user data incase that makes a difference in the answer.
Thanks you

I don't know enough about the towelroot exploit to say whether you will still have root after a wipe, but you will be able to root again. The only thing that stops towelroot from working is updating the OS past the build date in geo's thread (March 30th I think). As far as all your stuff, you'll have to freeze/remove it again.
