[Q] ATT D950 OTA 4.4.2 File, Anybody have it? - LG G Flex

Guys,
I have two T-Mobile D959 which I updated to 4.4.2 using the D-Fuse Rom posted in the forums. I also have a sim unlocked D950 that I would like to update to 4.4.2 as well. It's currently rooted on JB with TWRP recovery. I've read that others have allowed the phone to update using the OTA update for KK on top of rooted JB and that allowed them to keep root. Since we have this phone on T-Mobile with a T-Mobile sim it hasn't popped up about any updates. I clicked on the manual update and it did not find any updates on the server, which I believe because it doesn't have a ATT sim in it. It's also frustrating because it only allows for manual update check every 24 hrs or so.
Does anybody have the OTA file? I'm thinking if I placed the OTA file in the main root directory that the phone should be able to find the file and ask to update itself. I've did this prior with some Motorola tablets. So far I don't see anybody with the OTA D950 posted. I know user hyelton has a zip file containing the tot file posted for D950 KK but its over 1gig and I believe the OTA update was only around 600 MB or so. Any help would be appreciated.
-Mike

Yup I know where to get the .tot file, but if I use the LG flash tools and the .tot won't I loose the root? I'm thinking of it as the tot file is like flashing a fresh install and you loose any information previously installed. Maybe I'm wrong

Matt maybe I should of just installed the KK tot file and tried the new KK root that is posted on IOROOT thread. I've tried the KK method with one of my D959, but it wouldn't come up with the ADB method in the recovery as required so I had to restore it back to JB to root and add custom recovery and then install D-Fuses KK rom for that phone which is rooted.
I would hate to try a fresh install of KK as this phone as the phone is for my mom and I have it all set up already with apps and emails and what not. It would be the easiest if it would just update without having to redo all that stuff.

Its probably best that your moms has an unrooted phone. The user experience for someone that knows nothing about all this stuff we do to our phones is much better if its not rooted. And practically idiot proofed

Your right for the most part. The only issue I ran across is ATT puts a setting in that wont allow the tether app to work correctly on a none ATT simcard. When you would run the tether it would error out. I had to go in and change a setting in the settings.db file and make a change where att had something set as a 5 to a 0. Others had the same problem. On my D959 tether would work without any modification as my plan allows for 3GB of tethered data. I may just leave her on the rooted JB with TWRP recovery to be on the safe side till a custom recovery is available for KK on these phones.

Doesn't work. I've pushed it back into FOTA folder, same place I pulled it from. There must be some behind the scenes checks being done. No way to bypass the ATT servers either to "manually" force the update

Verizon update rolling out now: Build VS98012B

Nothing about this update has me even thinking about switching back to stock for this. But thanks for the heads up.
Anyone have a copy of the stock recovery? Don't want to flash all the way back to stock but would like to take the update. Currently running tarp.

I know this breaks root, but is it possible to root again or do we have to find a new way to root. I only want to root for tethering and debloat. Verizon sucks when they load everything they can on top of a phone that has a lot of apps already installed on it.
Best to get a copy of it to the devs. If it works like the razr, you can d/l but not install it and pull the file from cache.

Use Titanium backup, and freeze Software Update MUC.
This should prevent you from getting the update.

Yeah, I'm on stock, I assume the dev took the updater out of his rom. You'll have to confirm with him.

especially not, since you can get the benefits of the new radios, without accepting the whole update.
Will this for sure break root and would something like root keeper help at all?
I'm finally eligible for a contract upgrade device. If I were to buy a G2 today from Verizon, what are the odds it come with this update out of the box? I'd hate to buy a device I can't root and install custom ROMs on...
cant pull update??
so i am rooted but running stock.. anyone know why i cant pull the update??
Just flash the radio.. Its the only thing thats worth anything out of this update

I would say zero. I would imagine their stock is at least 1-2 months old. I have never bought a phone that didn't get an update the first day.

They usually release updates over a couple days for server reasons. I still haven't seen it either.

That was my feeling as well. I thought I would wait until the S5 or HTC One 2 came out to upgrade, but based on the previous versions rooting/unlocked bootloader on VZW are highly unlikely.

Borrow a friend's pc or go to a library and use Samsung Kies, but you will lose root.
This is most likely because you deleted some the system apps that came with the stock rom..... This is why I never delete them only freeze with titanium backup! This happen to me on Ml9 so I had to restore stock rom reroot put super su in survival mode and then take the update!

Kies is just going to tell you that your firmware is up to date. Either factory reset or you may have to use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715 < This is how I had to do it.
So if I am rooted and deleted the AT&T bloat apps, I can't install the KitKit update? What I unroot completely? I know that won't bring back the garbage AT&T apps back, but would I be able to OTA to kitkat then?

You will not be able to ota unless you do a full restore. You also must have att sim card. At&t is just dirty like that.

Wow. Anyway, I was rooted, but had Wanam installed and successfully updated to Nb4. I had the fake system status set to official. I was alwasy under the impression if it said Official you could update.
And great, because now we all have to follow a really complicated guide to restore back to MJ5 if we want kitkat.
I was rooted on mj5 no wanam or anything and my phone update to nb4
It didn't even ask.
What you probably did was delete the att update software so now it's not even looking.

I don't think being rooted affects your updating. I have read many people accidentally updating and loosing their root. If you couldn't update with root, people wouldn't freeze at&t update.
ive tried unrooting factory reset andthe only thing i can think of is that ive deleted something . i guess the lesson learned is juat freeze apps instead of deleting them

[Q] [q] deleted Verizon apps, can't apply ota

how do I get the apps back and put them in system folder?
thanks
I was reading another thread last night where someone had dumped all of the moto x files. The links in this thread are dead (http://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...ump-download-wallpapers-t2388941/post44198668) but someone in the thread mentioned that googling motoxdump.zip found a working google drive link. I guess you could try to extract the apps you're missing... Next time you may just want to freeze the apps instead of deleting them completely.
There are MANY threads and posts about getting back to stock to take an OTA already, but...
Short answer, you could download the SBF for the rom version you are on from -> http://sbf.droid-developers.org/phone.php?device=0
Unzip it.
Use mFastboot to flash the system.img onto your phone.
You will also need to make sure you have the stock recovery.
If you have a locked bootloader, and take 4.4.2 update, there are many cautions...
You might retain root during the OTA, but write protection will be come re-enabled (i.e. you'll lose the effect of MotoWpNoMO), so any changes you make to /system or the like wont be retained after power off/on (aka hard boot).
There is no process for locked bootloader to disable Write Protection while on 4.4.2.
If you lose root, there is no way to root 4.4.2. Flashing back to previous roms may or may not work, and can cause your phone to brick.
But if you have an UNLOCKED bootloader, the same process to root previously (flash twrp, boot into it, install SuperSU from there) works to root all versions, including 4.4.2

Kid Joe, what's your opinion of 4.4.2? Is it worth it to wipe your phone from an unlocked, rooted 4.4 stock ROM to gain any benefits that might be had in 4.4.2, or am I better off keeping what I have? Btw.. I love gravity box and Xposed. They're the only reason I rooted, that and the ability to delete bloat.

I don't really see any difference between 4.4.2 and 4.4. If everything is working, you don't have any bugs or issues, and its all setup the way you want, then just like any update, you have to weigh your options. How much time/effort will it take you to undo and redo your settings to either take the OTA, or flash with RSD? Is that worth it for what the change log for this update lists?
If you use an Exchange mail account, I would consider it because that is fixed in 4.4.2, and broken in 4.4.
You could just wait, but when the next update comes out, you'll need to be on 4.4.2. So now, or later, you'll have to decide.
I don't suppose anyone has a link to RSD?

[Q] still no 4.4.2 update

Its been a month and I still am not able to get the ota for my AT&T gs4 active. Every time I check for the update I get the message that the system was interrupted and there is no new update. I am currently on unrooted ML2. Does anybody have any idea why this may be?

Just download it and flash it through stock recovery yourself. That's the way the OTA works anyways, but for some reason your phone isn't automatically downloading it.

Hi,
If you are not having it though OTA simply download the firmware for you model from Sammobile.com and flash it with Odin.
I searched sammobile and it doesn't have any firmware for AT&T or any S4A updates to 4.4.2. Is there any other place where I can download the firmware manually?

Whoops...the 4.4.2 firmware wiped my phone to stock 4.2.2. Ugh.
But this is the link I needed. Thanks
Meh - Further work of trying to restore the original system/app files in order to push any of the updates bricked the phone. It is stuck on the AT&T logo and recovery mode has a "No Command" and dead android icon. Just be careful, people...
I just documented my steps of resolving a few unrooted, stock ATT ML2 phones here
Don't understand how the NE3 would make a stock ATT ML2 go from 4.3 to 4.2 (as posted..)
(my step 1 was using ATT update over wifi if available.... however, in my case multiple phones FIND the ATT NE3 update 444 mb file but FAIL after reboot when update reaches 29 percent, no explanation given.)
2. Download from the link above (ATT Stock Firmware Thread) the Android 4.4 ( I537UCUCNE3 (4.4.2) ) 444 MB file,
3. Rename the 444 MB file to update.zip
4. Set SG4A phone into Developer Mode and enable USB debugging
5. Move the update.zip to a microSD card and insert into phone
6. Hold down simultaneously Volume Down, Power and Home Button and wait for Stock recovery/Downloading menu to appear
7. Select update.zip and let phone update ML2 to NE3

No mobile radio ls995 PLEASE HELP

SO I have the ls995, i posted a while back on other threads of revocering my phone cause i flashed a d955 rom by accident. so anyway after a while of fixing i got it all back to stock, main problem was phone kept saying it was d955 in download mode so wouldnt take tot file, but got that ffigured out. Now after a bit trying to activate mobile data all i get is mobile radio off. theres a red x where the bars are. with sim in even. i triedthat phone info in the hidden testing menu but that says this app does not work on your device. I dont know where to go from there, any help is appreciated thanks
My suggestion is to use LG flash tool with universal dll file and ls995zv3.tot . that will correct the problem. I had the same problem with flashing of d950 on ls995 . Hope ? will help

Thanks for the reply, I however already did that tot restore twice, but you mention a universal DLL file, what would that be? I used the DLL that has ls995 in the name
Universal dll is a file that basically allow you to flash tot even if specific model is used. Lets say you have ls995 and you flash rom for d950 (like I did) so your flex act like d950,but if you try return to stock by flashing tot for ls995 it may not allow you to. It will say its a wrong model. Universal DLL allows lg flushing tool to overlook that and use that tot file. It seems to me that you have a wrong radio ,or something didn't flush quite good. In my opinion return to stock again using universal dll and ls995zv3.tot along as it flashes over 80% it should be good. I had somewhere saved that DLL file, so let me know if you can't find it I can PM it to you. Its called LGUP_8974.dll

yup, baseband is m8974A-AAAANAZM-2.0.20049.
DOing more reaserach could my efs partition be corrupt? Eventhough it says imei and stuff. I just dont get why the radio is turned of. Like when u got to network, sercie state it just says radio off. Could this be like a permanent hardware thing?
just to put this out there i do have another lg g flex same model and everything if need be
Hardware I don't think so and efs partition should be ok since imei shows correct. Why don't you do a nandroid backup from other flex and restore this one ? See if that helps just uncheck efs.

I would but that one isnt rooted/custom recovery yet. I can still do that, but just before, is it possible for you to send me a twrp backup of your modem? I can try restoring that, see if that helps. Actually that problem you have is an EFS corrupted partition. I had that same problem. Im sorry if you sent me pm or something and I didnt answer been very busy lately. Will upload a backup today of boot/efs/modem. But make sure you backup your imei before all this cuz mine is bad esn.
Hey sorry for not responding, was at work the whole day yesterday anyway, so I restored @falcon8667 modern twrp backup but that didn't change anything still same baseband and still no radio. Thank you very much though for sending it to me. I even restored the boot backup but that didn't help. Also @Alex_XV6700 I thought it might be the efs through research but oddly my imei ESN and whatnot is fine even checked it on swappas checker thing. The baseband and all are still accurate. I'll send a screen shot when I get home. It just says in service state, radio off. And any app I try to turn it on with force closes. Could I try your efs backup then? I backed mine up. Thanks again for all your guys help
That may sound little stupid but can you turn on and off the airplane mode couple of times and reset the phone ?. Probably will not work but its a quick try. By the way do you have a sim card in there and if yes what carrier?
Sent from my LG-LS995 using Tapatalk
Yeah i tried that a few times didnt help, tried with the sim in and with it out. I do have a sim in it, its from sprint. The phone does recognize the sim being in there or not
Just do a nandroid backup from other flex and restore this one. It may save you a time. That just a suggestion
