Download EXT2 support for MAC http://sourceforge.net/projects/ext2fsx/
Then partition using the built in Disk Utility
It's really easy on a MAC
1)download the ext2fs plugin AND INSTALL !! (google it if you cant find it " how to partition ext2 on mac")
2)reboot
3)download the appstosd2 app
4)install on phone
5)open appstosd and select partition
6)let it do its thing
7)reboot phone
8)plugin usb
9)mount
10) you will get a error sayin that you need to first aid your disk press command I on your untitled partition or no_name partition
then proceed with apps2sd or with hero install
I am actually working on a Macintosh Version of a Tutorial I posted on AC forums. Once I get it working I will post.

Bootloop problem after freezing Homescreen Selector

Hi
First post here, I'm new to Android and rooting but I know my way around computer systems in general so hoping you guys can help me, haven't seen a thread about this exact problem so far.
I've semi-bricked (bootlooped) my Samsung Galaxy Ace running Gingerbread, having rooted it last month using the upd_1 package and enjoying a bloatware-free phone, happily installing apps onto my second partition on my SD card. I've not changed my ROM, just the stock is good enough for me for now. However I was getting continually prompted by Homescreen Selector nags at powering up for some reason and I thought I could disable it by applying Freeze using LInk2SD, but since doing that I continually get the Samsung logo, the orange "explosion" (I'm with Orange) then a vibration and the whole cycle repeats. My guess is the operating system can't find the selector.apk app since I froze it.
I thought the solution would be simple - use adb shell to rename back from selector.fro to selector.apk. However I'm unable to find any such file in my system/app folder. There are a load of other apk and odex files but not that one. When I type su I get "permission denied", though I definitely rooted my phone but I don't think I have my bootloader unlocked.
I don't have CWM installed or any backups unfortunately (yes, I know...), so even if I took one now prior to a factory reset, surely the same problem would come back if I were to restore from any backup I were to take now. I can get into Recovery and Download screens ok but don't want to restore the whole ROM unless I have to, since I know it's only one APK that is at fault.
So, please can anyone tell me how to locate the selector.fro file to turn it back to selector.apk? Or can't I do that without unlocking the bootloader first, or is there another solution?
Many thanks in advance,
Graham
Wouldnt it be possible to make a zip of the selector.apk and flash it? Rename the zip-file to "update" (since you're unable to browse to your specific file).

Hi, thanks for the response
Do you mean copy a zip of selector.apk to the SD card and run it from there, same as I did when I rooted? Where can I obtain a copy of that apk from? I can't find it on my computer or via Google...

You can extract it from the ROM's zip file, just locate it as you would on your phone.
But I don't have a ROM zip file. I'm not using a custom ROM, just stock. I may go down the custom ROM route one day, but for now I just want my phone to work again in the quickest way possible.
All I need is a copy of the original stock home selector APK. Can anyone help here please?
Found the file!
Never mind, got the apk from another thread. Flashing tonight...

How do i install files onto my phone?

Sorry for the generic title buts its difficult to write exactly what i need to achieve.
I have a sim free UK HTC one.
I need to get rSAP working with the phone for my Audi car kit to work. I also have an added issue that my phonebook contacts don't sync at all.. (apart from that its a great bluetooth connection...lol)..
I've located the rSAP program but apparently when its downloaded from the play site. it doesn't work correctly. In order to get it working correctly, you have to manually load the files into the recovery section of a rooted HTC one. im using this program www.android-rsap.com
I've got a fully rroted HTC one. and I have downloaded the files from the above site. I've just no idea how to get the files onto the phone.. any pointers would be very useful. thanks...

Alternate Installation
You may optionally use these zip files in recovery for installation/deinstallation of the rSAP system files instead of the rSAP installer app:
when you have a write protected system partition (see above) and you don't want to install the kernel module or a different kernel
when you don't need other root functionality you may omit the installation of the Superuser app

Thanks for the quick reply...
Yes, i have the files you pointed to.. but (sorry this may be one of those noob moments) I don't know how to get those files onto the phone or even if they need to go onto the phone..
So if possible, i'm looking for instructions from this point onwards.. I have all the files, I'm rooted.. what do I do now?
Thanks again.
By posting your question in Q&A rather than development.
Can I test your rom please

Hi thanks for the replies. Actually i have now found out how to do it and yes, i do feel a fool.. It was so easy.
For anyone else having the same issue..
simply download the files you need to load to your phone, Store them where you can find them.
Reboot your phone into recovery mode (your phone must be unlocked and rooted for this)
Simply pick install files and direct to the stored location of the files you downloaded.
Reboot the phone.
wondering if you really are this stupid....

normally,no. I'm a founder and current director of a multi million pound international electronics company..but I don't get time to study geek stuff. in fact, I normally employ people to carry out the geek stuff for me.
so thanks for your insightful input.

[Q] Broken screen, copy files

Hello XDA, here is a brain teaser:
My Cappy screen is broken and I'm not going to replace it at the moment as I got myself a Nexus 4. I would however like to pull my files (mainly Titanium backup files) off of it.
I'm running CM10.1 Stable and DevilKernel 4.2. Also, I'm pretty sure USB debugging was on last time I checked.
Now Iv'e tried pulling the files using ADB, the thing is, there is apparently some kind of permission problem. When I use the Linux shell, it won't give me permission to look inside the /sdcard/ and I don't know what password (if any) to use with "su" (I'm assuming it tries to authorize on the screen, alas - broken screen).
So, any takes on a creative way of pulling the files?
I was thinking of odin/heindall flashable kernel with pre-autorized permissions and USB debugging enabled, anyone knows of something like that?
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply, however, as I mentioned above, I tried using ADB to copy the files, but it won't recognize anything inside /sdcard/ folder. It seems there is a permission problem with accessing it.
