I personally tested the settings you describe, and 528:2 is definitely the best solution to this infamous problem.
In order to enhance this setting even further, I played around with the DEC4 and DEC7 volume levels and I found changing 'DEC4 1:66' to '1:56' and 'DEC7 1:68' to '1:58', markedly improved the audio recording quality in noisy environments. It is not crystal clear, but is much better than the 528:2 setting alone. A good option for concerts and alike.
The stock sound was the loudest but the 28 was the clearest

I just spent hours creating new playlists and transferred all music to Z1. I want to squeeze out best possible sound quality. Please share your EQ setting. I just started playing around with it and haven't found the right setting yet.
EQ Settings highly depend on the speakers/ headphones you use, because every setup is balanced differently.
Just play around with it, as far as audio goes there is no right or wrong, as long as you like the sound!
Hi, I'm an audiophile bro. I suggest you to just leave the eq off. Artists have spent so much time in the studio to create the perfect sound that they want you to hear.
It depends on your taste and music genre, I mostly listen to electronic dance music and setting the bass on 6+ makes that kind of music much better imo.
I'm using Poweramp pro but remember to turn off all the Walkman sound effects first as they sort of compile on top of each other making poweramp harder to setup
and leaving everything to default settings is fine if you are in a studio and using their sound equipment - the EQ setting can compensate for a poor set of earphones or if on a hifi system can alter setting to suit equipment and the room accustics - none of us will have a studio soundstage

ClearAudio+ and Dynamic normalize is the best for me.

After I played around, I ended up with just Clear Bass +10 and VPT to Studio. I'm using Sony XBA-4. My music sound excellent!! I'm super happy with sound quality I get from Z1:good:
- From left to right: +2, -3, -6, 0, +4
- Bass at 10.

Best EQ setting
Hi Sitti,
Squeezing out the best possible sound quality depends on the headphone you are using. If you have got a normal headphone, you need to play around with the EQ to get the best possible sound output. And, if you are using audiophile gear, you may not need to do any settings at all!
I will give you an example :-
I own a Sony Xperia M Dual. The default headphones which comes along with it are quite decent enough, with a dominant bass line. I am kind of an audiophile, I don't like too much bass. So, I have tweaked the EQ settings in the following way to get the best possible sound out of it :
Clear Bass Level : +7
Equalizer (left to right) - -3 +3 +4 -3 +2
Surround Sound - Studio
Clear Stereo - Off
Dynamic Normaliser - On
And, that's all! Trust me, you will love your music. Let me know.

That should definitely squeeze out the best possible sound!
Hi,
Please note that EQ settings are heavily dependent on the headphones you are using. Following EQ settings are according to my audio gear that I use. Believe me, they sound amazing! A bit closer to true audiophile gears!
My device : Sony Xperia M Dual
Headphone : Sony MH410C
EQ settings :
Clear Bass level : +10
Equalizer (left to right) : -4, +4, +4, -3, +3.
Settings :
Surround Sound : Studio
Clear Stereo : Off
Dynamic Normalizer : On
Happy Listening!
Another best EQ setting
Phone : Sony Xperia M Dual
Headphone : Sony MDR E818
Equaliser settings :
Clear Bass : +10
EQ (left to right) : 0 +2 +3 -3 +3
Settings :
Surround : Studio
Clear Stereo : Off
Dynamic Normaliser : On
Enjoy your music!
Well if you REALLY want to get the best possible sound out it I suggest getting the AC!D Sound Engine MOD.
Makes everything sound nice and clear with awesome bass. I have it on my Z1s and couldn't be more happy.

Works Nicely Volume is louder and my bass has more punch, along with the clear audio its just perfect!
If this helps Go ahead and and give me my first Thanks
I use Denon ah-d600 and I listen to metal.. Without any bass...to get enough I put the tru bass to 4.. And when I listen to music with bass in it I turn it down to zero...
Good headphones does not need eq... The equalizer destroys the sound to my ears

Thanks for the response.
If you feel male vocals lack warmth and depth, just increase the 400Hz from (-3) to 0., but not more than that, as it will introduce unnecessary hum.
If you feel too much bass, just decrease the Clear Bass level accordingly.
That should do it.

I am happy to present my StereoMOD™ based on dontbelieve mod from Z1. I did modify XZ snd_soc_msm files so that they will output Speaker and Earpiece at the same time like in Z1 mod.
What will this do?
Achieve real Stereo and surround sound effect from both left and right channels by using earpiece as additional speaker.
To test out rotate the device to landscape and try some stereo video or music.
Try this:
-Left/Right Stereo Audio/Visual Test.: http://youtu.be/dvqbq_0jZ_U
-Dolby Digital - HD Surround Sound Test: http://youtu.be/PvnlpPWAcZc

I am not responsible for any damage caused by this mod. Eg, your phone is broken, you miss any important call, alarm didn't go off and you were late for work, or your earpiece is busted. It's your own risk. Proceed with Caution, you have been warn.

How about having full control over the volume for both speaker and earpiece?
Open the snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3 file that you just replaced and edit with editor. I recommended using 920 Text Editor or DroidEdit on mobile which could run such a big code.
Go to line #2966, you will see that the following code is related to speaker. Scroll down to line #2985 and #2986, you will see these code:
'RX1 Digital Volume':1:73
'RX3 Digital Volume':1:71RX1 is Earpiece and RX3 is Loudspeaker. Change these blue values will effect the volumes for xLoud off.
If you scroll down alittle bit to line #3010, you'll noticed instantly that it is related to xLoud on. Do the same to Line #3029 and #3030.
'RX1 Digital Volume':1:74
'RX3 Digital Volume':1:72Change these values will effect volumes for xLoud on. Becareful not to raise RX1 volume too high, it might fry your earpiece. Both of their stock default value is 68. You take full responsible for your own tweak.
How about swapping left and right channels? with the cost of broken Loudspeaker during call (obsolete)
As now you are familiar with the code. I'll go short this time.
Modify these Lines between line #2972 and line #2975.
'RX3 MIX1 INP1':0:RX1
'RX3 MIX1 INP2':0:RX6
'RX1 MIX1 INP1':0:RX2
'RX1 MIX1 INP2':0:RX7And these Lines between line #3016 and line #3019
'RX3 MIX1 INP1':0:RX1
'RX3 MIX1 INP2':0:RX6
'RX1 MIX1 INP1':0:RX2
'RX1 MIX1 INP2':0:RX7All you have to do is to replace all RX3 with RX1 and all RX1 with RX3 in the BLUE values. And you're done.

Tried first time, Its good and thanks for still working with ZR group
request:
1. In call also, the volume is stereo which must not be in that way I guess
2. The treble is way too high in earphones in comparison to bass and mids which is kindof irritating to ears. (I'm using Sony MDR-EX110LP earphones)
EDIT: also the experimental Left/Right interchange on ratation is not working

Thanks for ur feedback. The auto channel swapping is not really working the way it should yet. It will only be swapped upon portrait and portrait upside down orientation. Their for 4 way rotation must be enabled. Therefore, rotate upside down first before entering landscape. A demo on how it works will be posted later!
Edit: 1) incall speakerphone stereo is the only thing that i can't achieve right now.
2) High treble is the hardware limitation of the earpiece. It wouldn't be able to sound as deep as speaker. However, this mod is more preferable on Xperia Z, since Xperia Z main speaker goes through water proof membrane. So it doesn't sound much of a difference between both speakers.
Stereo

All the roms that I experiment (AOSP / LOS) have always a bad sound recording, too low, almost no if there was but in the roms MIUI the sound is very good, only in this is no, some solution?
Use 3rd party sound recorder that has option to change the bitrate.
