FW 10.5.A.0.233 Update/Fix - Sony Xperia ZR

Hello everyone!
I shortly read about the FW 10.5.A.0.233 for our device and that it will fix the issue with the draining akku caused bei google services.
Hier is the article I found:
http://hybrideon.com/xperia-z-zl-zr-tablet-z-will-get-bug-fix-update-soon/
Is it known, when it will be rolled out?
I heared about rumors, that it is rolled out in australia right know, but only as a rumor till now.
I live in germany and have a taiwan version of the XZR. I need google services and cannot deaktivate them, this is why I wait for a fix, cause my google services run at 70 percent all the time. Thats not good ...
Do someone now more about the rolling out of the fix?
Greetings Lemmi.

Battery drain solution.

I can tell you the fix without the update for google services draining battery issue.
Go to settings, uninstall update of google play services, clear data and restart phone. It will automcatically update the google play services and then the issue won't stay. If the uninstall of update option is disabled, then you need to uncheck the Android device manager in security and then continue this process, but later you can check it under device administrator section in security.
As far as update of .233 is concerned, almost everyone knows about this update that it is yet to be released, but there is no official update regarding the date.
Till the update you can do the fix.

The article's date is 6th of June. If more than 2 weeks is their idea of 'soon' then I guess Sony should stop manufacturing phones and turn to politics or something.
This is so screwed up, and even that temporary fix people talk about in this forum isn't working and it keeps on draining my battery.

For my XZR was help Per App Hacking from Xposed. In this app I search Google Play Services, and there I tick "Prevent Wake Lock". After this Google Play Services still falling down, so after 2 days I untick "Prevent Wake Lock" and now is Google Services seems, to work normally. Also I have enabled Stamina.

Here you find the .233 update for our Xperia ZR:
https://github.com/sonyxperiadev/kernel-copyleft/tree/10.5.A.0.xxx
It exists, but there is no ftf file or ota rolling out.
And here is an open source file download of this version (10.5.A.0.233) from June, 13:
http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/all-downloads/
But I dont know how to use it.

[Q] How Can I turn off Software Update Notification?

Is there any way to stop the software update notification which is telling me I need to upgrade to the latest software which is already installed anyway?
The Xperia Update Center says "Computer Required" for update to 4.3. It won't let me update OTA even with the Wifi on and I don't understand why.
Problem 2: My phone is already updated to Android 4.3 Xperia software version 14.2.A.0.290 but on the Sony Bridge for Mac software,it says it needs that I need to upgrade to the same version
14.2.A.0.290. (See screenshot).
I would ignore the instructions to update but I can't get rid of the notification on the phone.
Simple
Even I had the same issue. long press on the notification of update in the notification panel to get into app info and then clear data in the app options.
Now the notifcation disappears. You can even check for an update again and it will show your phone to be updated with latest firmware
And with the computer update, dont update your phone as it has no changes and the size of the download is around 900MB which is pretty useless .

I did what you said, "Clear data" and I also "Emptied Cache", but the notification to upgrade software still returns after I click software update in the Update Center. I would just reinstall it, but why should I have to reinstall the same 4.3 and the same Build 14.2.A.0.290 which is already on the phone?
Also, why does it say "Computer Required"? Since when is computer required to update Android Software or Sony Xperia firmware?

yeah this is some kind of a bug. I updated the 4.3 once again since i was getting some free wifi around. And as of now u better clear data and dont check for updates. Its really annoying to see the update notification with nothing in it for us. Better wait till Jan 23rd where we might get a software update or if not then feb 1st week we will be getting an update (not 4.4.2 :-/) 14.2.A.1.124/136 .
I guess for bigger updates it requires the computer. or when it has something to update just the kernel (totally guessing)
If u have root u can instal titanium backup and uninstal the OTA update notification ...
Just disable it in app info

[Q] Why hasn't the Android 5.0 update shown up for me?

If I check for updates, it says there are none. Has the update been officially released yet or is everyone "manually" installing it?
the update has been released official by sony, but it's rolling out slowly. For now the update showed up in nordic regions, but it should soon start rolling out in other regions. If you're impatient you can always flash the update manually. Search the forums to find out how to do it
Press Thanks if i helped you

Same here. I have bought the phone without any carrier attached and no update yet even though at least some other folks in my country seem to have it already.
Should we wait or we should do the manual update? With the manual update, do we have to unlock the bootloader? I would actually like to avoid unlocking or rooting.
Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll just wait some more.

no you dont have to unlock your bootloader. You install flashtool, device drivers and ftf file you wish to flash. There are great guides in forums, search for them how to do it
By the way, once the update is available through the phone's update feature, will it be possible to do a fresh install or is updating the only way?

You can do a factory reset after the update. That's equivalent to a clean install.

Thanks. How would go about doing a factory reset after the update? Sorry, I'm an Android noob as this is my first Android phone. Secondly, after the update to Android 5.0 will the recovery "partition" of the phone also get updated to Android 5.0 or will it stay at 4.4.4?
I guess they are doing a roll in insteaf of rollout. Im short to ditching sony

Rollouts take time with Android phone OEMs, the update must be tested and approved seperately for each region and mobile operator. Some regions and mobile operators can be very slow at this, unfortunately. Just be patient and don't obsess too much over it.
With non oem phones (international version not tied to carrier) is it still expected that I may not have an update yet or should I start worrying something is wrong and should start look at the manual update?

Non-carrier =/= non-OEM. Sony is an OEM
Is there where you do a factory reset? If I use this feature, the phone will be formatted and return to its original "shipped" state?

[READ] Official info about Marshmallow and 5.1.1 for P8lite

Hello guys
so I asked the Huawei Mobile (Poland, on facebook fanpage) about the update on our phone and they said:
- work on update 5.1.1 is stopped because they have already started preparing update to android 6.0
- Marshmallow for P8lite will be released in this quarter of the year. (my assumption is the end of the march)
if anyone needs a proof:

Most probably - yes. However you will have to wait few more weeks after no-brand version is released.
That's because brands make their own additions to the roms and after they do so, package with rom has to be certified which also takes some time.
This step depends on your brand only.
I got my P8Lite from polish Orange brand but I see no operator extras so maybe I will get update the same day eu version is released.
I confirm that!
I have contacted via facebook Huawei Mobile Sweden and Italy. Both said that the Marshmallow will come to P8 Lite, though they didn't specify any time. I've also read that Huawei Austria replied to someone via twitter confirming the update as well.
Anyways I hope that it happens like they said to you, in the first 2016 quarter
waiting for the update and thank you

Nice info
(Finland <3)
B170 Dual SIM Europe update include Vendor package for unbranding. I have updated my T-Mobile branded phone to unbranded.
I just fired off an email to Huawei Australia to see about when the ALE-L02 variant from Telstra could see the update, seeing as Telstra are the worst when it comes to releasing updates on time rather than 6 months later like with their branded Samsung phones. Hopefully it's sooner rather than later
Does anyone know when Ale-21 will get marshmallow update.??
Nobody knows when ANY model will get the update.
I have beta android 5.1 for Huawei p8 lite and it is terrible, battery discharge so fast.. Ram is too bad. I look forward to new version ?
Will they add auto focus in camera while recording? Will they fix the GPS and compass issues?
Thats what we need to know.

Doesn't update the security level, is still @ 1 oct. 2016. Not sure which improvements have been made...

I don't think so because I installed this rom(0PKVIM[email protected]60201_20.05_018_F_release_479349_combined_signed.zip). This update appeared after installation it.
I mean my phone is Vodafone branded. I'm on version 2.11.161.1.
I received the update today. However, yours appears to be much larger in size. Mine was just about 24MB.

I received an update few days ago, but 24Mb also. And i'm in France too.
There is an update notification. 2.21.401 (previously I'm at 2.20.401).
I have downloaded it. Does anyone know where it is stored now after download ( I selected install later)
The phone biggest problem it has been getting hot to touch as it is playing youtube videos. It then occasionally gives an overheat warning. i am hoping this will be fixed after update.

I don't know why mine was 638Mb. It is strange.
I found my update a fota inside the htc sense region of my /data/data directory
It was about 24-26 MB.
What does the update do? I tried unzipping but it cant be unzipped. I didn't try everything . I really nervous am made by ota updates.
I want to know everything it will be changing. I operate by "if it ain't broke don't fix it" adage... and it ain't really broke in any way.
I haven't tried everything yet. I probably wont install it since the phone is working well. What if it screws my phone so I can't boot twrp or something.

Don't get your hopes too high up, HTC didn't announce Nougat for the M8 nor the M8s....
As far as I know they only managed to release Nougat for the M9. Ten still doesn't have a legit Nougat in my family. We have a Ten and still no Nougat OTA.
I am corrected today. I just found out the ten does have the Nougat now.
I don't wait anything from HTC anymore. This phone will be last HTC for me.
To clarify, is this update for M8s or the M8? Because you are posting in M8s forum.
